Upgrade Path from CF7 to CF8

Hi,
I have to upgrade an existing production server from CF7
Standard Edition to CF8 Standard Edition and have not found any
upgrade instructions specific to this version. I am running this on
a Win2003 Server using IIS as the web server.
Is it as simple as downloading the latest build of CF8,
installing as a standard edition and supply my upgrade Serial
Number?

Hi
I'm doing an upgrade from GW2012 sp1 to gw2014
We also have Datasync 1.2.5
GW2014 says update to GMS 2.0 before upgrading to gw 2014
GMS 2.0 requires GW2012 sp2
Do I need to update GW2012 sp1 to GW2012 SP2 (as GMS2.0 reqiures) before
I can upgrade to GW2014
or;
Can I stay on GW2012 sp1, upgrade to GMS2.0 and after that to GW2014
skipping the GW2012 SP2 step ?
/mats
I doubt you will run to any issues if you don't upgrade to 2012SP2.. Will you run GMS 2.0.1 for a long time against 2012 before upgrading to 2014SP1?

Is there an upgrade path from Final Cut Studio 3.0 to Final Cut Pro X ?

The price of FCPX pretty much is the cost of the upgrade of FCPStudio, but a much better value (at least so far -- every update has been free.) However, it's only the single app so you might feel like you're not getting as much for your money. Don't be fooled. Most of Color and Soundtrack Pro are built into FCPX. FCPX will conform video automatically so Cinema Tools aren't really needed anymore. The Motion engine is part of FCPX, although I do recommend buying Motion 5 (an extra 50 bucks.)  (Motion 4 seems to have died in Yosemite - you can't even launch it.)
I "upgraded" from Final Cut Studio 3... it took me about a week to decide to pack up all the old software for good. YMMV.  However, if you use DVD Studio Pro... hang on to that.

  • Upgrade path from ODI 10.1.3.5

    Hello Friends,
We are using ODI 10.1.3.5. Like to get some recommendations on upgrade path from 10.1.3.5.
I read that we need to first upgrade to 10.1.3.6.x before considering upgrade to 11G release.
I guess, this might be in consideration to upgrade with minimal change with patch upgrade to 10.1.3.6.x than upgrading to big change 11G release.
If we have to upgrade to one safe step with not of a big impact/change to users and projects...what release upgrade-to is ideal? 10.1.3.6.x?
    Appreciate your response!! Thanks.

Thanks for the information. If we have to upgrade to a latest release 11G it looks we can from 10.1.3.5, any suggestions we should consider 11.1.1.5 or 11.1.1.3? Not sure if these release are in sync with target KM's like Essbase & Planning on EPM front we are on 11.1.1.3

  • Upgrade path from HFM 9.3.1.4 to Fusion 11.1.2

Is there an upgrade path from HFM 9.3.1.4 to Fusion 11.1.2? I see in the EPM 11.1.1.3 config guide that there was an upgrade section, but this seems to be missing from the 11.1.2 config guide. How do we move an existing application from 9.3.1.4 to 11.1.2? Does it have to be rebuilt via extracts and loads? Don't we lose information that way? (audit logs, reconsolidate, etc.)

I have heard there is no upgrade utility for 9.3.1 to 11.1.2. You would need to recreate the app. There will soon be an upgrade available for 9.3.1 to 11.1.2.1. Not sure on the timing, but the last time I spoke with support they were saying sometime in Nov/Dec.

  • Standard Upgrade Path from VMWare Server?

I've been using VMWare Server for years to test my software. Specifically I have 2 "beige box" PCs running CentOS running VMWare Server running various versions of Windows Server as domain controllers and file servers as well as numerous workstations. I have a complete mini multi-domain Windows network. When I run the tests for my software it really pushes the 2-3 vms involved with a lot of network communication and some disk activity.
With care and some brute force this has worked well. At least I don't need a stack of PCs. And it's free so it's hard to complain. But unfortunately it's not terribly reliable. The web interface stops working - sometimes only after a day. Clocks drift causing authentication issues. Generally bad things happen if I try to run more than 2 images on the same server. I've gotten to be pretty good at combating these problems but I'm hoping to find something a little more reliable.
So now I'm willing to actually pay for something (gah!) and I would like to upgrade. But VMWare has so many products I just have no idea what I should be looking for.
What is the standard upgrade path from VMWare Server?
    Mike

Ok. Two people say use ESXi so I guess I'll just try to burn an ESXi DVD and see what it's like. But ...
Is performance really good enough to compile large projects and do backups over and so on?
VMware Server has worked well enough for me over the years but performance was not like real hardware. But the real problem was reliability. If I ran more than 2 VMs at a time, eventually they would just get their tentacles in a tangle and I would have to kill them and delete lock files and bah! I'm going to assume by your endorsement that ESXi doesn't have any of these problems.
Also, the machine I'm using is a lowly DELL i660 i3-3240 with 8GB of memory. I paid $429 USD for it at a local consumer electronics store! This is no server. Will it even work?

If you mean from Photoshop 12.x (CS5) to Photoshop 13.x, the answer is YES.
If you actually meant from Photoshop 5.x to Photoshop 6.x, then the answer would be NO.  Those are ancient programs that have been out of any upgrade loop for well over a decade.

  • Upgrade path from Unity / Exchange to Unity Connection 7.1

Has anyone found (perhaps doesn't exist) an upgrade path from Unity / Exchange 4.1 to Unity Connection 7.1?

It will likely require a new server, but I just performed this migration.  You also have to be on Unity 4.0(5) or higher in order to perform the migration.  You use the COBRAS Export tool for Unity to grab the majority of system data and the COBRAS Import tool for Connection to migrate data over.  Read up on COBRAS here:

I have a Power PC dual 2 gig G5 running OS X 10.4.10. I know at some point that Leopard will not support the power PC platform, but I also know I probably will have one more upgrade path before my computer is no longer supported. I have not upgraded because My machine runs perfect. But I also know that a lot of my software will not run when I upgrade. Pro Tools, Maya,Mocha, various plug ins for Pro Tools. What path should I take to my final upgrade to the latest OS?

  • What are the recommended steps to upgrade from CF7 to CF8

I have read all of the documentation for how to upgrade from
CF 7.02 to CF 8. Well there is actually only one blurb in all of
    the CF docs.
"Upgrade installation You can upgrade from ColdFusion MX,
ColdFusion MX 6.1, and ColdFusion MX 7. When upgrading from
ColdFusion MX, ColdFusion MX 6.1, or ColdFusion MX 7, the installer
preserves the existing settings and installs in a new directory,
automatically assigning ports that do not conflict with the
    existing installation."
OK that sounds simple enough, so i went ahead and installed
it. Well it did not work, now I am stuck somewhere between 7 and 8.
My basic step, as I can best recall at 1:00AM.
    * Select Multi server Configuration
    * Select install path, I used D:\JRun4
    * This is where my existing cf7 install was located
    * installer told me port 8300 was being used so it gave me
    port 8306 instead
    * Selected d: for ColdFusion8DotNetService install path
    * Select Passwords for admin and rds
    * installed cf
    * received error after install
    (Adobe_ColdFusion_8_InstallLog.log)
    ANT Script Error:
    Status: ERROR
Additional Notes: ERROR - jrun.xmlUnable to remove existing
    file D:\JRun4\bin\jrun.exe
    * rebooted
    * can't login to cfadmin at port 8306
    * tried to login to cfadmin at port 8300, everythin works
    * it appears the cf7 services are still running,
    * didn't notice any new cf8 services, excpet the dotnet
    stuff
    Any assistance would be appriciated.

Essentially CF comes with the updates that will become JRun 4
    Updater 7
integrated into it. (The beta of Updater 7 is under way).

Use the CAR file, XML file formats have changed between
    versions.

What you are describing is a simultaneous update of JRun and
    CF. For
just an update of CF you need to redeploy the CF EAR file as
    described
in the JRun manual. For just an update of JRun you have to
    wait until
updater 7 is released (or join the beta and file bugs if you
    don't like
    the procedure).
    > Another possible option would be to update JRUN with the
    latest release,
The latest release is only updater 6.
    > download the latest JRE and create a custom jvm.config
file to use for the new

    the JRUN console and

Use a CAR file for that.
    > This seems possible to do it this way but does not seem
    as clean at all.
In place upgrades are never clean. In my book, an upgrade
    means
    rebuilding from scratch.

  • Upgrade path from CCP 9.3R2 to 9.3.2

    Hi Team,
Can someone help on the process involved in upgrading a CCP9.3 R2 environment to 9.3.2.
Is the upgrade faily straight forward or do we have to do some customizations to make this happen??
I have a CCP 9.3R2 and CPO 2.2 in a DEV system, have lot of custom content in this environment.
I am upgrading CPO 2.2 to CPO 2.3 engine but not importing the content because I have custom content built on 2.2.
I am liking to know the process doing an upgrade for CCP
    - is the inplace upgrade of CCP 9.3R2 to 9.3.2 valid???
    OR
    - building new CCP 9.3.2 and export / import content from 9.3 R2 to 9.3.2 valid??
    Thanks
    Satish

CCP upgrade should be straight forward. Refer to the CCP doc for upgrade paths and instructions. You would have to test the content you built in 9.3 R2 as I do not know all the inner parts difference in the two versions.

  • Possible Upgrade Path from ALUI 6.1 to Webcenter Interaction 10gR3

We are in the planning stages of an upgrade. Currently we are using ALUI 6.1 MP1 and wish to upgrade to WebCenter Interaction 10gR3. I am wonderng if the upgrade path is ALUI 6.1 MP1 --> ALUI 6.5 MP1 --> WCI 10gr3?
Is it possible to go directly from ALUI 6.1 MP1 to WCI 10gR3?

I was told that I could install from 6.1 to 10G. Which I did...
what you need to remember is to run the upgrade scripts to your database from 6.1 to 6.5, and then upgrade scrip from 6.5 to 10G. thats all, but you do not have to run the install for 6.5, just go directly to 10G.

  • Is there an upgrade path from Logic Pro 9 to Logic Pro X?

I convinced a friend to purchase Logic Pro 9, not knowing version X was about to be released 3 weeks later.   Even though upgrade path always crosses my mind prior to a software purchase, I was not worried - this was Apple.  Now it's looking like there's not a built-in upgrade path at all (as there IS with just about every other software company I have bought from).  Is this for real?  This friend has version 9, and I have version X.  So this friend learned everything there is to know about version 9, then I bought version X not even knowing we were out of synch on versions.   We were hoping to work on songwriting together, but paying $200 again is out of the question.  I notice that the file save under version X has extension .logicx, so is it even possible to exchange files?

my friend with Logic Pro 9 can send files to me but they cannot accept files created with Logic Pro X.
Which is exactly what i said earlier....
You can open Logic Pro 9 projects in LPX but not the other way around.
Apple wouldn't even give me a refund on Logic Pro X (purchased just 3 days ago), which is useless to me now.
There are no refunds from the App Store... That is what you agreed to when you purchased a license for LPX.
Your choice is simply for your friend to update to Logic Pro X or use the audio stem process I outlined earlier (Not something i would recommend doing for any period of time)... or spend even more money on purchasing two copies of a different DAW...  and taking the time to learn them and spending time converting over what your friend has already created... and hope your friend hasn't been using the internal plugins found only in Logic Pro... otherwise you have even more work to do...
The reality is, the sensible solution is simply to upgrade LP9 to LPX for $200... (and think of it as the upgrade price even though you can buy the full version for the same amount but that really doesn't matter does it?) Less outlay, less time lost and less hassle, but as always the choice is yours...
I have never, EVER, encountered a software company that treated customers that way.
Then you haven't been in the computer business that long......
Seriously though, you haven't been treated that badly...
You bought LPX at a price that is basically a steal.... and your friend bought LP9 at the same 'deal' of a price.. compared to what Logic Pro used to cost ($1000)
You can 'upgrade' from LP9 to LPX for $200 which is much cheaper than it used to cost to upgrade from , say LP8 to LP9... and the same price as it cost to upgrade to LP9 via the App Storeprior to the release of LPX
The alternatives at this stage would cost you much more money......time.. and hassle..
The only things that truly frustrating is the timing of your friend's purchase of LP9... For that he has my sympathies but it happens... Some people who bought Logic Pro 9 within a month of Logic Pro X being released were given refunds on the LP9 purchase if they bought LPX... Your friend just left it way too late.... Apple has since stopped such refunds.... and you didn't do the research you should have done before you jumped in and bought LPX... Unfortunate but sadly true.
Again, you and your friend have my sympathies for whatever they are worth... but at least the obvious solution is still cheap compared to what the alternatives could cost you now and in the past!

  • Upgrade path from Riverbed Whitewater V110 to AltaVault Virtual Appliance

    Hi,
We have users on the V110 model of the virtual appliances of Whitewater (Riverbed edition) that haven't transitioned to the NetApp varients as yet.
What would be the upgrade path if they wanted to keep running a virtual on-premise SteelStore/AltaVault?
Would there need to be an intermediate step to SteelStore 3.2 between Whitewater (3.1.2a) and AltaVault?
    Thanks
    Garth

Hi Garth,To get to the AltaVault release, you'll do this in 2 phases. 1. Upgrade the software. This is done by downloading the 3.2.2 code from mysupport.netapp.com and then installing it on the current v110. Use the Configure > Maintenance > Service page to stop the optimization service, then use the Configure > Maintenance > Software upgrade page to update it with the downloaded image. Reboot after the update is done. 2. Migrate to AltaVault software. This is done by following the instructions in Appendix A. of the Install Guide for Virtual Appliances:https://library.netapp.com/ecm/ecm_download_file/ECMP12455064 Regards,Christopher
