Upgrade path to 8.1 pro using windows 8 pro keys

Hi,
I have a windows 8 pro upgrade license which I bought when windows 8 was launched and have been unable to use it on my existing computer. I would like to use this license on a new computer and want to know what is the correct version of Windows Complete
Install to buy.
One option for me is to buy Windows 7 Home complete install then upgrade to Windows 8 Pro and eventually to Windows 8.1 Pro through the windows store. This is too tedious instead can I buy Windows 8.1 Home and use the Windows 8 Pro keys to upgrade it
to Windows 8.1 Pro directly?
Please advise on the correct version of complete Windows to be bought so I can take advantage of my Windows 8 Pro license.
Best regards,
Jai

Hi Jai
I suggest you to follow upgrade path using your Window 8 pro upgrade license since you already bought it
And I suggest also check whether this PC ready to upgrade to Windows 8.1, you can check using upgrade assistance to check if there is compatibility SW or device before you upgrade
There is 2 method for upgrade to Windows 8.1
1. buy upgrade key
2. buy DVD
Regarding upgrade key or buy the DVD, I suggest contact retailer or Microsoft sales

    You'll need to erase the drive by booting up holding command-option-r keys into your Recovery Volume.
    Use Disk Utility to erase the disk and then Internet Recovery. That will take a while.

    Two. You can daisy-chain two ATD together. Doesn't matter what you're running.

    can I buy final cut pro using windows OS, then install it in a mac in other state?

    Technically yes, as long as you use the same Apple ID on both machine's to purchase it and to download it. The Mac in the other state will have to meant the system requirements for FCP.

  • Canon Pixma Printing from a Macbook Pro using Windows XP Home machine

    Using my windows xp home machine as a print server. I have a Canon MP480 printer
    Installed bonjour on the xp machine.
    Installed the printer and drivers.
    Shared the printer on XP.
    Installed the driver on the MacbookPro.
    Added the printer using Windows print sharing.
    Prints to XP machine so that the print job shows up in the queue on the windows machine.
    Printer starts to get ready to print.
    It never prints.
    This is a common printer because they give it away at the Mac store when you buy a new Macbookpro.

    Hello and welcome to Apple Discussions.
    Usually when you select to add a Windows shared printer (Add Printer > Windows) you get prompted to enter the Windows user name and password. After entering this information you will then see the printer share name. If you are not getting prompted for account information after selecting the sharing computer then your Mac may have cached or saved a previous account used on Windows. Since you mention Guest for a previous attempt, maybe this is being used by the Mac and if that is now disabled on Windows then this could be a cause. So check your Windows accounts to see if the Guest account is still enabled.
    The other thing that you can do is open Keychain Access on the Mac and look at the 'login' keychains. Your details for the connection to the PC could be saved here so you could delete this entry and then try adding the Windows printer share on the Mac again.
    Once you do manage to see the printer share there is another matter that you need to be aware of. For some printers, the vendor created printer driver does not work when connecting to a Windows shared printer. For these types of connections you need to use either the Gutenprint or PrintFab driver suite.
    Gutenprint is preferred because it is free a version is included with Mac OS X 10.6. The one major issue with Gutenprint is that very new models of printers are often not included with the latest release. In this scenario it is necessary to try to find a compatible model for the respective vendor, but this can use a large amount of ink and paper before achieving a successful result.
    So this can force you to use [PrintFab|http://www.printfab.net] and the creators do a very good job of keeping up with new model releases. There is a cost involved with the software (€49) but there is a 30 day trial so you can at least test that it works.

  • Blackmagic Intensity Pro using Premiere Pro CS5 Problems!

    Blackmagic claims there are not alot of problems with the Intensity Pro and Premiere ProCS5. Well I am having my fair share.
    Msvcr90.dll App Error (fixed this on my own doing Microsoft updates)
    Decklinkapi64.dll App errors (crash) while editing from timeline
    BMDPlayer.prm App errors (crash) while editing from timeline
    Unable to "hold frame on in point" using a BM preset. Adobe presets work Beautifully!
    and to top it off Poor performance when compared to using Adobe presets with my mediocre Nvidia 9600 GT.
    My Intensity worked great with CS3. Is this card just getting outdated. Seems it was originally released with CS2 ?

    Shooternz, Before I upgraded from CS3 to CS5, the BM intensity pro seemed to be an economical and popular solution for editing HD with a tapeless workflow and being able to output an accurate preview for color correction, etc... After upgrading to CS5 (I decided to skip 4 because all was well) it seems like i have jumped 10 years into the future.
    I am very interested in alternate workflows now. Shooternz, I think I read on another post that you have a Quadro FX 3800. How does this work for you ?
    Do you just output to a second monitor ? I to am keeping an open mind. I have been looking at possibly geting an Nvidia GTX 470, although not officially supported by adobe. I cant find a GTX 285 anywhere. All out of stock! discontinued card.
    Thanks, Erwin B

  • Using Windows product key

    QuestionCan I use the product key on the bottom of my computer to activate Windows?
    AnswerAcer’s OEM version of Windows does not require a product key to activate. This means if you are using recovery disks you created on your system, or disks you ordered from Acer, Windows will automatically activate without the need for a product key. The product key on the bottom of the notebook is an OEM product key.  This product key does not work for activating retail versions of the operating system.
    If you did not make or are no longer able to obtain recovery media, you would need to purchase an operating system of your choice for installation.

  • Can I upgrade and download Photoshop elements 13 using windows vista?

    I have just purchased the PE 13 upgrade, but when I want to download it, the versions only mention windows 7 or 8 and not windows vista which I am on? Does this mean I can't download it?

    Thanks John, appreciate your answer although not what I wanted to hear. I'm fairly new to all this but: -
    I've just purchased a Canon EOS 70D that my PE 12 can't read.
    I've just purchased the PE 13 upgrade which contains the relevant codes, but can't be downloaded on my OS (Vista).
    Where the hell do I go from here and will Adobe reimburse me I wonder??
    Frustrated isn't quite accurate.

  • Having Issues with iTunes 10.5.3 and uninstalled. Cannot reinstall without upgrading to newest Snow Leopard? Using MacBook Pro running 10.5.8.

    Running OS X Leopard 10.5.8 and was having issues with my version of iTunes 10.5.3 (freezing and getting rainbow spinny wheel, not allowing me to do anything, while importing music from a different folder into the iTunes). Anyway, so I uninstalled iTunes and went to download the newest version (10.7 i believe) and after downloading and attempting to install, i was alerted that I cannot install and run this application without having the newest version of OS X 10.6 i believe. So, what I'm ultimately trying to figure out is if I need to spend $130(that i do not have) on Amazon to get the Snow Leopard 10.6.3 then pay another $20 in the App Store to upgrade to Mountain Lion as well? I need to have iTunes on this laptop due to having an iPhone 4 that needs to be able to be synced on this computer. Bottom Line is, I don't have really have $150 to upgrade all this at the current moment just to get iTunes back on my system. Any suggestions or am I basically having to drop the $150 just to get iTunes back so I can sync my iPhone 4 again? Ugh, this *****, really wish i hadn't uninstalled that version of iTunes..HELP!!! thanks in advance..

    Click here and install the software. If you decide to upgrade to 10.6 at some future point, phone the online Apple Store.

  • Using "Window" (Super_L) key as escape in GNU Screen

    I've been trying to map the Windows key (to the left of the space bar) to be the escape key in GNU Screen (as opposed to ^A) with no luck. xev gives me that it generates keycode 133 and its keysym is "Super_L" so its definitely recognized by the system, but I don't know what I can write in my .screenrc to be able to use it as an escape key. I've tried googling how to do it, but the solution another person found didn't work for me (use xmodmap to map keycode 133 to something else - like F13, and then get the literal value in vim by pressing ctrl+v and the key (it generated ^[[3~ or something similar) and then putting that in the .screenrc file).
    Has anyone else solved this?

    I believe you can use the xmodmap method, although it may cause you some problems.  Try this:
    $ xmodmap -e "keycode 133 = F19"
    then put the following line in your .screenrc:
    bindkey -k F9 command
    Note the difference between using 'F19' for xmodmap and using 'F9' in the bindkey command.  This is due to bindkey using the termcap database for specifing keys.  The main problem here, as far as I can tell, is that the termcap database doesn't have any notion of the "Super_L" or "Super_R" keys, thus you have to do this strange xmodmap assignment of keycode 133 to some key that bindkey can recognize.  This will work even if your keyboard doesn't have an F19 key as my example shows.  Of course, you don't have to use function key F19; you can use any key on your keyboard.  The important thing to remember is that the bindkey command in your .screenrc file uses the termcap database (see man termcap) to determine what key to use, and the xmodmap command uses some other mechanism. You have to understand how to specify the keys for each case.
    Other possibilities:
    xmodmap -e "keycode 133 =  F1"  <==>  bindkey -k k1 command
    xmodmap -e "keycode 133 =  F2"  <==>  bindkey -k k2 command
    xmodmap -e "keycode 133 =  F3"  <==>  bindkey -k k3 command
    xmodmap -e "keycode 133 =  F9"  <==>  bindkey -k k9 command
    xmodmap -e "keycode 133 = F10"  <==>  bindkey -k k; command
    xmodmap -e "keycode 133 = F11"  <==>  bindkey -k F1 command
    etc.
    This could cause a problem if some other application you use (like your window manager or desktop environment) uses 'Super_L' for something.  I really don't understand exactly how all this works so I don't know how you could fix a conflict like that.
    Finally, when you remap 'keycode 133' to some other key, then pressing that key will now generate some character. Pressing the windows key when not in screen, at least on my system, caused a '~' to be printed.  I don't know how you would get rid of this.

  • HT4718 after upgrading to Mavericks, i can't use Pro Tools   ***

    after upgrading to Mavericks, i can't use my pro tools, and none of my iTunes files are there. what the ****? I want to revert back to snow leopard.
    PLEASE ADVISE!!!! I'm in a panic!!
    I was very happy with Snow Leopard, and then I tried to get an app to design my Christmas cards. The computer told me, i had to upgrade to Mavericks to use it.
    Now everything is a complete disaster!

    I was not prompted to make a clone, so i dont have one. I downloaded an upgrade of pro tools that is alleged to work with mavericks, but it does not.
    I can't find any of my music files, iTunes downloads, documents, etc... But, all the software i purchased to work within pro tools is there. Im so confused.
    Im PC, i have never downloaded an upgrade that made all my files disappear. This is totally unacceptable.

  • Help - using windows 7 and bonjour and can't get printer to work!

    Hi, I recently upgraded my wife's pc.  Previously I had a wireless printer set up using bonjour and the airport express.  My mac and the old pc (windows xp).  I had no problems printing.  I upgraded her PC and now it uses windows 7.  I installed bonjour and tried to print but no success.  The PC can see the printer.  It says that it sends the file to print.  I get no printer error or anything on the PC, but nothing happens.   Anyone have a suggestion?
    Thanks
    Kris

    on xp box
    1) install and start lpd daemon (done)
    2) set printer sharing (short name, no spaces) (done)
    3) make sure that xp allows tcp 515 (done?)
    on linux
    1) start cups
    2) open konqueror (not firefox) and enter in the address bar
    http://localhost:631/
    log in as root (I assume that basic cups with user is configured)
    3)select add printer
    - first page:set priter description
    - second page: Select device lpd/lpr host or printer
    - third page enter lpd://hostname/queue (hostname if defined in /etc/hosts, otherwise ip address of XP box queue -> printer share name
    - fourth page select manufacturer
    -fifthpage driver
    test it
    KDE
    K Menu -> Settings ->Printers ->Add -> follow screens
    I found KDE method (under Arch) more reliable, but both should work. No idea about Gnome.

  • WLSE to WCS upgrade path

    Hi,
    Could anybody tell me if they are aware of an upgrade path from WLSE to WCS using existing WLSE hardware? Can anybody point out the main benefits/features moving to WCS from WLSE?
    Many thanks
    SJ

    Hi Scott,
    Just the 1130-19 or 1133 are supported;
    The new Cisco WCS SKU family, WCS-WLSE-UPG-K9, is now available for CiscoWorks WLSE customers that wish to migrate from CiscoWorks WLSE (Models 1130-19 or 1133) to Cisco WCS. These new SKUs are price-adjusted to make transitioning from CiscoWorks WLSE to Cisco WCS cost-effective.
    All CiscoWorks WLSE conversion SKUs ship with two special conversion CDs. These CDs check to make sure that a CiscoWorks WLSE is installed prior to beginning the Cisco WCS conversion process. The software will not install if the CiscoWorks WLSE software check, performed by the conversion software, does not pass.
    This SKU family supports only ***CiscoWorks WLSE hardware models 1130-19 and 1133. To find the model number of a CiscoWorks WLSE, look at the compliance label on the bottom of the chassis front bezel. ***Only CiscoWorks WLSE with a compliance label that says 1130-19 or 1133 can be converted to Cisco WCS.
    Note: CiscoWorks WLSE Express (Model 1030) and CiscoWorks WLSE (Model 1105) are not supported with CiscoWorks WLSE conversion SKUs. Do not install the CiscoWorks WLSE CDs on the CiscoWorks WLSE Express (Model 1030) appliance or CiscoWorks WLSE (Model 1105). This conversion is not supported and it will not work.
    Once converted, a CiscoWorks WLSE is no longer a self-contained appliance; it becomes a server that runs Cisco WCS software using RedHat Linux ES v. 4.0. The converted CiscoWorks WLSE operates as a new Cisco WCS installation and supports only lightweight access points and wireless LAN controllers that are running Lightweight Access Point Protocol (LWAPP). Autonomous access points are not supported by a converted CiscoWorks WLSE.
    Customers migrating their CiscoWorks WLSE to Cisco WCS do not need to buy a copy of RedHat Linux ES v. 4.0 software. A copy of RedHat Linux ES v. 4.0 software is included with the CiscoWorks WLSE migration CDs. (RedHat Linux AS v. 4.0 is not supported by a converted CiscoWorks WLSE.)
    From this good doc;
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/cscowork/ps3915/prod_bulletin0900aecd804b4635.html
    Hope this helps!
