Upgrade photo sharing

I have just updated my MacBook Pro but now I can't share my photos with my iPad 2. Do I need to upgrade that and will the iPad 2 take the upgrade without slowing it down? Also I can see the benefit of the dot under the open programs in the dock but find it a distraction, can I choose not to have the dots showing?

Idk what is going on I can't sign into my own icloud then my stream isn't working you said you up grated? To what I have been everywhere on the web

Photo Sharing - Download Size?

May I first say what a great upgrade this has been... I know from reading other comments that it hasn't been the same for everyone but it was very simple to get my site updated and be working apart from one thing... here is my problem.
I've made a load of photo pages by dragging photos out of the media inspector panel within iWeb 08 from images that are hi-res (2272 × 1704 pixels) within iPhoto 08. When I select the photos to be shared in the inspector panel (second button from left) I select "Photo Sharing - Download Size? - Original (Full Quality)... all good up to yet... I publish my site and when I go to the images online and download them they have been resized to 1920 x 1440 pixels.
Why?

'Optimize photos' is enabled by default. I think is a good thing since my domain file was reduced in size after upgrade from 3.5GB to 1.6GB. But if you really want original images to publish then you need to turn off 'Optimize photos' in prefs and then add photos.

I am unable to upload any photos to photo sharing sites?

For the last two days I have been unable to upload any photos regardless of size to a professional photo sharing website. I have tried everything possible such as disabling my Norton services, emptying the DNS cache, clearing all browers histories and all cookies. I've tried creating new accounts on the website and nothing has worked. I then tried to upload photos to another site and when the photo started to load it said that I lost internet connection yet I didn't. I am able to use my daughter's dell and can upload photos just fine on any site with her computer. I did a live chat with Norton and they ran me through a series of things as well and said it is something with my mac. Does anyone have any suggestions???? I'm at a complete loss and beyond frustrated with this entire experience.

Hi, Thank you so much for the info.... I really do appreciate it. We had the laptop updated by way of a system upgrade with RAM and an additional SSD drive. Once reconfigured all programs were reinstalled but Iphoto is not among them. Iphoto was on the laptop when purchased so we have no additional discs. Before the laptop was updated we backed the photos up to an extrenal hard drive so we have them, but cant access them. Could I purchase Iphoto 8 stll? Would this work? We would also require an external CD drive as we no longer have the disc drive in the laptop (I think the extra new bits took over). You may have noticed I have very limited knowledge on computers so any help dispite how simple it may sound to some would help me greatly. I just want all my photos back .... Thanks inadvance... Photo Sharing Crashes in Lion

Upgraded both my MacBook Pro and iMac this morning and Photo Sharing in iPhoto no longer seems to work. I can see my MBP photos from the iMac but after about a minute, the MBP photos disappear from the "Shared" menu in my iMac iPhoto and the MBP iPhoto session hangs (spinning beachball).
Has anyone seen this happen in Lion? Used to work great in Snow Leopard.

Yeah, there have been more than a few people complaining about it.
But I actually got mine to work! I found the solution in one of the other discussions.
It turns out I had the "iGlasses" plugin running when I opened Photo Booth, and it caused Photo Booth to run in 32-bit mode. So I just removed the plugin completely. After, I right clicked on the Photo Booth application in my Finder, clicked 'get info', and unchecked the "Run in 32-bit mode" or something like that and it started working for me.
Have you tried this out?

Photo Sharing in ios 6 shows all my photo streaming pictures

I decided to test the photo sharing feature in ios 6. I created an album and sent it to myself and was horrified to see that not only could I access the test album, but ALL my photo streamed pictures were available for viewing. I created another album, sent it to a gmail email account I have and had other same issue. Next, I created a third album and send the "public sharing" link to myself: it didn't show the third album but rather the previously created second photo stream album, even though I had already deleted it.
I never had this problem with MobileMe.
ANy suggestions?

I just did the same upgrade with my 3GS. I am having a similar problem. My contacts are on the phone now, but my music and apps are not. When I try to restore the back up this is the message I get: itunes could not restore the iphone because a session could not be started.
I see my my music and apps in my itunes library, but if I try to autofill it to my phone I get this message: itunes cannot add any songs to the iphone because no songs in library can be copied to the iphone.
Can you help?

Trouble with photo sharing preferences in iTunes

My apple TV is not recognising my home sharing for photos. It's fine to recognise music, tv, filmes etc but not my iphotos library. This has only been happening over the last month or so and I think it was since I upgraded to a newer versiou on itunes.
In itunes I go to file > homes sharing > choose photos to share with apple tv .......
the Photo Sharing Preferences box then opens but then I just get is the spinning cog showing it's trying to connect but nothing happens and all I get is a continuous blank screen with the spinning cog in the middle and greyed out "revert" and "apply" buttons at the bottom.
My photo library is on an external hard drive but this was not a problem previously.
Anyone any ideas on how to reconnect my iphoto to the itunes photo sharing preferences?

Iphone 6 icloud photo sharing not working

Today I got an iphone 6, did all the updates, and tried to use the icloud photo sharing. I can create a stream, add photos, and invite people to view; however, when other people accept the invitation nothing shows up except "No Items" despite me sharing 50+ photos. Also, when the other person adds photos to the stream I don't see anything on my end.
How do I fix this?

HT4362 Photo sharing

I want to set up photo sharing with my Apple TV. When I go to Advanced in iTunes I find sharing options, but iTunes will not let me choose "Selected albums, events, faces" That option is gray. All I can choose is "All photos......" What am I doing wrong? OS 10.7.5 iTunes 10.7

Have you tried to share a journal instead of a photo stream? Then you can create a webpage with your pictures and send the link to the web page, see iPhoto for iOS (iPad): Share your journal as a webpage

Why is my shared photo stream taking up space on my iPhone when I have turned off photo sharing?

I have an iPhone 5c with iOS 8.3. It's only an 8GB iPhone, so I only have about 5.2GB of space to use. So I have to be very picky about what stays and what goes on my iPhone. Photos is one of those things that don't stay on my phone long. I have deleted all of my pictures out of my albums (both camera roll and recently deleted) and there can be no photos found in my library. In settings, I turned off all photo sharing capabilities, so I shouldn't be getting shared photos from family members on my phone and stuff. So why does my storage say that shared photo stream is taking up 54.6MB? I would like it to say 0MB. Am I missing something? I've included a couple screenshots to help clarify things. Thanks for your help!

This is what I mean. I'm seeing the 3.9 KB usage for Photo Stream under General>UIsage>Photos and Camera, nothing to do with the storage on iCloud and I have Photo Stream and everything to do with iCloud and photo sharing off. However, I may have had Photo Stream on before for a few weeks before I turned it off long ago. Could that data/used space just be a few photos that were once in Photo Stream before I turned it off if I've had it on before?

I installed a new software release on Apple TV AND a new software iTunes release on my Windows 7 laptop.
Photo sharing no longer works.

It doesn't have hit counts anymore (not happy with that change either) but Picasa Web Albums has proven to meet my needs WAY better than Photobucket. Better yet you can upload web sized or full file photos plus make them public or private or semi private. I think you get the first gig of storage free & it's $5.00 per year to expand that to 20 gigs, which I feel is fair & i have 2 different album sets where I pay the fee & one that I'll keep under the radar by replacing old albums with newer ones. Picasa is also a very good free editing program & VERY easy to automate for uploads. Just Google Picasa for the download site & more info. In the meantime this is the link to one of my paid for sites.

No. If you don't have the album you originally used to create the galleries you can do so by dragging the photos from each gallery to a new, empty album. Then when you find the photo sharing site/option you have decided on you can easily upload each album to the site.
Another option is to obtain a hosting service and create iWeb photo pages for each album and future albums similar to this photo page in one of my demo sites: iPhoto Book as an iWeb Slideshow. Or you can use the iWeb album page and have an album for each iPhoto album on it like on this demo page: Page-7 .

DVDs are encoded into MPEG2, which iMovie cannot edit. So you need to convert the DVD back to something else. For highest quality, I recommend that you convert the DVD to Apple Intermediate Codec. There is a free tool called MPEG Streamclip that will do this. You will also need to install the Apple QuickTIme MPEG2 Playback Component.
Here are the details.
1) Download and install the Apple MPEG2 QuickTime Component ($20) - available online from Apple.
2) Download and install MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5 (free).
3) Start MPEG Streamclip
4) Insert your DVD into your Mac. If DVD Player or Front Row starts automatically quit those.
5) Open a Finder window. Navigate to your DVD to the Video_TS folder.
6) Drag the .VOB files from the Video_TS folder and drop then into MPEG Streamclip.
7) If MPEG Streamclip offers to fix timecode breaks, say yes.
8) Use FILE/EXPORT TO QUICKTIME to convert the files to Apple Intermediate Codec (or h.264 if you prefer)
9a) Optional: You can deinterlace your footage in this step, if you like
9b) optional: If you know the date and or time of the footage, name your file
clip-yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss
(let mpeg streamclip provide the extension). This will provide metadata that iMovie will use to put the event in the right year and month.
9c) Optional: If you don't want to make one huge clip out of your DVD, you can make smaller clips by using MPEG Streamclip. Move the cursor to the "in" point of the clip, and press i. Move the cursor to the "Out" point of the clip, and press o. Then do steps 8 through 10 and repeat until you have done this for all clips you want.
10) Save the resulting file in a place where you can find it, like your Desktop.
11) Open iMovie.
12) In iMovie, choose FILE/IMPORT/From File and choose the file you saved in steps 8, 9, 10.
13) iMovie will generate thumbnails and you can edit.

Welcome to the Apple Community Diane.
I find that shared video can be troublesome, a few haven't appeared to work as you describe but have done when I've looked at a later date. Hopefully they will work if you give them a bit longer. perhaps it would be a good idea if you make sure they are working before deleting them from the camera roll.

3 questions: 1) I am unable on my Mac Book Pro to enable iCloud Photo sharing in iPhoto preferences, why not? I cannot see my iCloud drive contents.Why not?

Having a Macbook Pro i have taken and loaded in 569 photos from my cameras and want to share using iCloud. But I simply cannot get iPhoto to enable iCloud photo sharing. What could be the cause? what should I try other than the instructions which I followed three times already as outlined in the FAQ section of the help function?

Thanks for the suggestion . As soon as they hand me my laptop at the store in 45 minutes time I shall try the disable and then re boot as you suggest.
so far they sent me this; Disk has no problem.They may have more to say to me re the flash drive and results of storage diagnostics and ASDs ( what is this? ) when I see them .
The case repair is redundant to the problem I am having but if they give me a new one worth $399 i will not complain,eh.
