Upgrade Processor from T9400 to [QX9300 or X9100 or Q9100 or Q9000 or T9900]

hello
I have MacBook Pro (Fall 2008, Early 2009) - 15-inch with 2.53 GHz Processor Intel T9400 [http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=35562]
and I would like to upgrade my processor of my MBP.
so I have 5 CPUs, which one it will working with, and tell your recommendation
1- Intel Core 2 Extreme Processor QX9300 [http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=36727]
2- Intel Core 2 Extreme Processor X9100 [http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=35431]
3- Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q9100 [http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=37033]
4- Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q9000 [http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=40480]
5- Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T9900 [http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=39312]
I hope who have an experience and knowledge with a mac please tell what best one I choose.
thank you...

The CPU is soldered to the logic board.  As Retired Engineer indicated, there are no sockets.  As such, you would need to unsolder more than 450 pins simultaneously in order to remove the processor... as well as be able to re-solder all those pins.  Basically, it's impossible.

It is possible to shutdown, change CPU and restart my server? Yes. However, it is wise to do (and test) a backup before doing any hardware change.
Has anyone done this before?Yes. No issues. It's a good idea to review the initialization parameters before and after.

  • System crashing randomly after upgrading processor from Phenom 9600BE to 9950BE

Few days ago I updated my processor from Phenom 9600 BE to 9950 BE. See all details about my system in my sig. Now the system is crashing randomly. I can quite figure out any pattern to it, but I think it may be due to temp. The 9600 was working quite steady at about 35C. The 9950 obviously will run at a higher temp. and it seems like it's running fine when I have my AC on in the room, which makes the processor temp on average about 45C. With the AC off, the room temp and humidity goes up but the processor temp doesn't exceed more than low 50ies C. Which should still be fine for that processor. So is it the board that doesn't handle the load of this processor? Or am I missing something else? The TLB fix in my BIOS is off, since it doesn't apply to this processor.
    Thanks.

AMD uses JEDEC timings, not the dull EPP timings, those fail a lot (read about all the time) on AMD systems.
ok, so I read some info on the JEDEC and EPP timings... and now I'm even more confused. So if the processor is not using EPP but JEDEC, then that's why the AUTO settings in BIOS set my timings to 5-5-5-12 right? That makes sense. In that case, it could be running at 1.8V - according to the SPD tab table, right?
    BUT:
Is the JEDEC#3 comparable in performance to the EPP? Or is the processor using the JEDEC settings just so it's safe? In which case, I should be able to safely run it at 4-4-4-12 at 2.20V since this is manufacturer recommended default? Or is the manufacturer recommended default referring only to EPP, and for JEDEC it should be used as listed in the SPD tab table?
And if i now decide to overclock the memory to 1066MHz (which I heard is possible), should I leave the settings at Auto or manually set them to 5-5-5-... something?

If I get new processors, do I  need to re-install the Host OS, or can we power it down, swap them out, and we’re back in business with out issue on my guest machines?

    Hi geoffcgt21,
I assume that the new CPU is same series with the old one .
So , you do not need to re-install the OS .

  • Please help upgrade processor S10

    I have a lenovo s10 . can i upgrade processor from atom N270 to intel dual core 2GHZ ????
it is not danger may net book  ????

    Hi,
    impossible mission...
    hardsoldered cpu... size...power consumption..
thats a netbook not a notebook...
most "books" are not designed to upgrade ... its not a pc, where you can easy change parts (also limited intel/amd/via not compatible) (heatspreader, powerful psu.)...
many thing depends on each other...heat consumption (cooling system) power consumption...
    chipset...grafics...
so the only things you can upgrade , and thats easy in case of S10 ... memory up to 2GB, harddrive (or SSD) up to 500GB (or more but bigger harddrive didnt see now) ... and with a little more experience faster wireless card (n) or bluetooth modul...

  • Upgrading L3000 N500 processor from PentiumDC to Core 2 or higher

    hello,
Is it possible to upgrade or change the processor from Pentium Dual core to Core 2 or any with even faster processing speed?
I have a L3000 N500 model of lenovo this time..
    Thanks!

Fortunately IBM / Levovo are particularly helpful sharing info and you will be able to find the exploded views and assembly / dissassembly instructions on the support sites.  Some of the more basic core-2 chips are now very affordable, in the GBP20 range second hand, but there are many varients and you need to be sure of the socket (478 or 479), the power needs and BIOS support.
You may find more help at Notebook Forums (http://www.notebookforums.com/forum144.html).
As said it's a pretty tricky job and it might be easier to address other areas.  I've found the combination of Windows 7, Scorpio hard disk and 4GB DDR2 RAM gives very acceptble general performance on a Celeron M430 based 3000 C200.  Obviously it depends what you're doing!

  • Just upgraded an iMac with 4GB Memory and Intel Processor from 10.6.8 to Mavericks and Quicktime plays m4v files with stuttering audio

I just upgraded an iMac with 4GB Memory and 3.33 Ghz  Intel Core Duo Processor from 10.6.8 to Mavericks.  I now have Quicktime 10.3 which plays m4v files with stuttering audio.  This is a nightmare as I use Quicktime a lot in my research.  I have seen similar threads but so far only reporting the problem.  For now I have installed Quicktime Player 10.7 (which appears in utilities, leaving Quicktime 10.3 in the main applications list) which plays the same videos with no problem, but it would be good to know if anyone has managed to find a workaround at all, or know if Apple have plans to do anything about it?

Slow performance after installing Yosemite on an older Mac is often caused by inadequate memory. Although you can install the upgrade on a Mac with 2 GB of memory, experience has shown that at least 4 GB is needed for full performance.
Select About This Mac from the Apple menu. If you have less than 4 GB of memory, and your model has upgradable memory, install as much as it can take, or at least that much. Any reputable RAM vendor will have a web form in which you can select the Mac model and be directed to compatible parts.

  • HP Pavilion dv7t-7000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC - Upgrade Processor

    Hello,
    Any help would be appreciated.
I have an HP Pavilion dv7t-7000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC.  Because of a new job I need to update my processor from the current 2.30 GHz (see exact specs below, please) to at least 3.0 GHz.
Is there a 3.0GHz processor out there that is compatible with this particular computer? I've called technical support and was told they don't know. I really don't know who else to ask.
This computer was just purchased a few months ago (before I got the new job). I would really like to avoid purchasing a new computer, if at all possible, if I can upgrade the processor in this one.
Here are the specs of the current processor:
    Intel Core i7 3610QM
    Code Name    Ivy Bridge
    Package    Socket 988B rPGA
    Technology    22nm
    Specification    Intel Core i7-3610QM CPU @ 2.30GHz
    Thanks in advance.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Well, there appears to be just one (that I've found) 3.0 GHz processor that Intel makes for my chipset  (HM77 Express Chipset) and it's the i7-3940XM Extreme edition (http://ark.intel.com/products/71096/)
At a retail price of $1,000+ it looks like I'm going shopping for a new computer.
Not sure if anyone from HP read the peer forums, however, I will not be purchasing another HP product.
This machine has had issues outside of me needing to upgrade the processor for my own personal reasons. Your support is grossly lacking in all areas Your techscannot even pull up the model number with the serial number.
Customers should not have to go out on the Internet to research questions like this.

  • UPGRADING PROCESSOR AND RAM

Hello, pls i'm asking to know the possibility of upgrading my processor from AMD A6-3430MX APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics to an A10 processor, which will boost the strength of my gaming...is it possible to buy only the A10 processor and replace it on my A6 because the current processor does not support most of my gaming needs while i have enough video graphics memory (1.5gb Radeon). However, i also want to know the amount of maximum RAM the computer can accomodate because currently i have 6gb RAM and i'm thinking of upgrading it to 8gb. Will these changes affect the computer negatively? or what? because i think it the best economical option for me rather than waiting to buy a bigger laptop with a higher processor...Games that require such high specs include upcoming Watchdogs, Need for Speed Rivals, Call of Duty ghost, Upcoming Hitman 6, and so many others...I'm waiting for a feedback

  • Swap Processor from G4 Quicksilver 80Mhz to G4 Digital Audio 466Mhz

If I swap the processor from quicksilver 800mhz and put it in my digital audio 466 mhz G4 will it work?
    g4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    Hi
it is actually possible, although whether it's worth the effort I'm not sure.
The CPU upgrades database at www.xlr8yourmac.com contains a number of reports from people who have installed a Quicksilver processor in a Digital Audio (select Apple AGP Slot for the Mac Model and Apple for the card manufacturer).
Both have a 133MHz system bus so the processor will run at the same speed (800MHz) without having to fiddle with the resistors that control the bus multiplier ratio.
The main issue though is the Quicksilver processor card requires a 12 volt feed to one of the screws that secure it to the logic board, although this can be taken from a spare hard drive molex power connector.
There are also possible heat issues, as the Quicksilver has a small fan between the processor heat sink and back of the case, where as I don't think the 466MHz Digital Audio has a processor fan at all.
    I hope this helps.

  • Upgrading processor/memory

    Hello all,
I currently own a HP Envy 23-D034 Core i3-3220 3.3GHz 6Gb 750Gb DVDRW 23" Touchsmart Desktop. I am looking to do a major upgrade of the ram to 16gb, (currently at 6) the processor from i3 to i7, and the hardrive from 750 to 1tb. Would this unit be compatible to do so?

    Here is some quick information:
    http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/kb/docDisplay?javax.portlet.begCache...
Yes your system can take up to 16 gb of RAM since you have an ivy bridge processor. That is 3rd generation i3, etc. It appears that the fastest processor you can install is an i5-3xxx, an i7 would have to be second generation, and would not allow 16 gb of RAM. It uses laptop sized (2.5 inch) hard drives and capacities up to 2 TB are available for that.
    Here are the upgrade instructions:

  • Upgrading laptop from 10.5

Can you go directly to 10.7 or do you need to stop at 10.6 first?

The 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD is in the Apple online store. You can get it for $19.99. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard After you’ve installed that then download the 10.6.8 combo updater to finish it off. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399 You will need to be running 10.6.8 to access the App Store to order Lion, Mountain Lion or Mavericks.
    System Requirements for 10.6:
Mac computer with an Intel processor
    1GB of memory
    5GB of available disk space
    DVD drive for installation
Some features require a compatible internet service provider: fees may apply.
Any program that runs under 10.5 should run under10.6. See this list for third party programs compatibility with 10.6: http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/  You might have to upgrade some drivers for printers, etc.... And you will have to install Rosetta if you have any Power PC applications
    http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/article/snow_leopard_installing_rosetta/
Once you are at 10.6.8 Lion is still available from Apple. You will have to call Apple Customer Care 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775. to purchase it. Then within 3 days you will get an email with a code which you can use to download Lion from the App Store. Or go to http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6106Z/A/os-x-lion and purchase it there. The price is $19.99.
You must have at least a Late 2006 model 2,1 MacBook.
Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly.
As for third party programs see this list for compatibility with 10.7 http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Also Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.
