For Functionality Differences pls refer to the below site -

After opening the site, please select the Source Release Version which is 4.6 b Then Select the Target Release Version which is "mySAP ERP 2005" or ECC 6.0
Select the Solution Area like Financials, Human Capital Management, Sales....
Select module like MM, PP, SD, QM.....
Click on Search
Then it displays the Release Version and the Delta Functionality. which can be downloaded to a word document if required.
and also check the release notes of ECC 6.0 in service.sap.com.

New Development project in the middle of ECC EHP7 upgrade project

Hi All,
We are performing ECC EHP7 upgrade project in our project system landscape and i have already started Dev system upgrade.Suddenly our development team wants to perform new project which required to install add-on product from third party application. Installing new add-on will require us to regenerate stack.xml file right? if that is the case do we need to perform re upgrade to Dev right?. As per my knowledge this is not recommended to perform parallel project with upgrade project.
Is there any best practice or recommended method to perform multiple projects with upgrade project at the same time.

Hi Raghu,
First here i would like to suggest you & your development team i.e during an upgrade project dual maintenance is required as per SUM guide,as per SUM guide you need to maintain parallel systems to perform regular activities, for same you could refer SUM guides and follow the standard procedures.
Installing new add-on will require us to regenerate stack.xml file right?
Yes you need to regenerate the stack.xml file .
if that is the case do we need to perform re upgrade to Dev right?
If you are under upgrade phase no need to perform re upgrade,required add on can be installed after completion of an upgrade as per availability for EHP7.
Try to avoid perform multiple projects with upgrade project .

Going for an up-gradation from 4.7 to ECC 6.0. The data needs gets migrated from 4.7 to ECC 6.0.
SAP normally has defined better SAP functionalities in the new system .
In any upgrade project use Tcode SPDD. In this all the dictionary objects u2013 data elements, database tables and structures in the version 4.7 are compared with the upcoming new system.
All you need to do is the check whether the new change is suitable or not.You can make the modifications and then you need to make the migration of data, which can be automate.

Upgradation project to ECC 6

Hi all
Can anyone please provide some guidance, if possible also send some documentation, which I can follow to work on a upgradation project.
Currently system is 4.7, and they want to upgrade to ECC 6.
What are the steps involved, what would be my role as FICO consultant, in such upgradation, because i have never worked on a upgradation project.

Hi Frank,
this is good question, why because sap upgrades from 4.6b to ecc 6.0 is very risky.
take one example , in 4.5b , me21n application having 620 screen where as in ecc 6.0 having 9000 screen . that time we will take care of it.
check the obsolete function modules , 4.5b , having ws_upload, ws_download.... use cl_gui_frontend_services , under these having differnt type of methods.
once you change the code in ecc , go to tranx : SLIN check the error where it is exact.

How To Use SPDD and SPAU Transaction in An Upgrade Project

I will be working in an upgrade project very soon. this is my first experience for Upgrade project. Though I know these two transaction are used for Upgrade.
Can anyone give me a step by step document for using these two transactions and other relevant information.
Also, I have one query where do we use these transactions : On the old system e.g. R/3 4.7 or ECC 6.0

Runtime Error in VL01N after upgrade from 4.6c to ECC 6.0

   We are doing a upgrade project from 4.6c to ECC 6.0 and when we are running the VL01n tcode and as soon as we hit enter in easy access screen its throwing a runtime error as " The key of internal table "XLIPS" contains components of type 'X' or "XSTRING". The "READ TABLE XLIPS" statement is not permitted for such tables in a unicode context'. The xlips is declared as:
DATA: BEGIN OF XLIPS OCCURS 15.
INCLUDE STRUCTURE LIPSVB.
DATA: END OF XLIPS.
so i have checked the lipsvb structure in that i dont find the key fields of type X or XSTRING all are of type CHAR 4. this LIPSVB is the Reference structure for XLIPS and YLIPS.

and apply it   the basis   should   find it out .... for ECC6.0   then minimum level of patches should be   upgraded.

Upgrade -- Sort sequence difference in ECC 6.0 and 4.7

Hello friends,
We are in an upgrade project where the upgrade is from 4.7 version to ECC 6.0 version.
We are facing few problems on sort when testing our Z developments.
Suppose the internal table in the program has fields A, B and C.
We are using the sort statement --> sort itab by A.
In 4.7, the sort statement sorts the internal table first by A and there is no specific sequence followed for B or C.
Whereas in ECC 6.0, the sort happens by A followed by B and C.
So, the final result is, for the user, the output appears different, although the data is the same.
Please let me know how can we make the output in ECC 6.0 appear as in 4.7.

Runtime Error in MIGO after upgrade from 4.6c to ECC 6.0

hi,
    We are doing a upgrade project from 4.6c to ECC 6.0 and when we are posting the MIGO a runtime error is occuring from the method
"IF_EX_MB_DOCUMENT_BADI~MB_DOCUMENT_BEFORE_UPDATE" which is
in the class "ZCL_IM_MMIM_STK_TRANSFER".
The error is as follows :

     thanks for the inputs i have done the syntax check on the main program and the FM the error which is coming is Field "ENJPREVIEW" is unknown. its neither in one of the specified tables nor defined by a DATA 'statement' . THis error is showing in the include LMEDRUCKF1K.

To wat extent it is possible, if yes then how simple or difficult it is ?
Time Factor (Duration)? ?(assuming the size of the company close to 1000)

Text Determination Error in Upgrade Project

I am working on Upgrade Project from 4.6C to ECC 6
I encountered the error like the Text Determination is missing in all the Documents like Sales Order, Delviery and Billing Documents in ECC6.
But the same is appearing in 4.6 C.
I am getting the error " Error in Text Formating ".
Message No.VX201.
Could you please give your valuable inputs on this.

Check the settings again in 6.0. Follow the path IMG-sales and distBasic Func--Text Control. It may that while migrating the data certain tax type is found missing in the new system.
