Upgrade python to install Picalo

I am attempting to set up Picalo analytics software on my Macbook Pro.
Picalo requires an upgrade to the Apple-installed version of Python.
I downloaded the correct version of Python but cannot determine how to get OS X to reference the new copy.
Has anyone loaded Picalo on their Mac successfully?
Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Python 2.7 is available since Solaris 11. You have just to install the runtime/python-27 package.
For information, this is not an upgrade but a parallel installation.

The current iTunes 10.5 upgrade does not install on Windows 7 and indicates a faulty install package (error 2324). Advice or details on the release date for a proper fix? I'm not able to roll back to the prior version, so I'm stuck in limbo.

There have been a number of problems with installing the latest iTunes on Windows 7 64-bit machines during the last couple of weeks.  You might want to do a search on that topic and see if anyone has a solution.  There have been various versions of the problem but a lot related to errors in the download package or failure to download.

  • SQL 2008 R2 In-Place Upgrade or Fresh Install to SQL2104

We have a server running Windows 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 R2 currently.  We will call it SQL01.  This houses databases for about 8 different applications and also has the name hard coded into a lot,  I repeat, a lot of various things.
We are at the point where one of our applications needs to be upgraded and it only works with SQL 2014.  So we need to either do an in-place upgrade or fresh install.
The obvious choice to me as a system admin is to do a fresh install, but the development side of the department knows how many places the name "SQL01" is hard coded and they want to do an in-place upgrade to avoid all the issues that would show
    up if we changed names.
I have several questions, and I'd appreciate that the answers address them all if possible.
    1.  What are people's experiences with in-place upgrades from SQL 2008 R2 to SQL 2014?
    2.  To avoid this naming and coding issue, do companies use a permanent alias for their SQL servers?  Like with exchange, we have an alias or A record pointing "mail" to the current Exchange server.  As we do upgrades and the Exchange
server names change, the "mail" entry will always be pointed to the current one.  Do people do this for SQL as well to avoid our issue of hard coding names?
    3.  I've head that you can also have both SQL 2008 R2 and SQL 2014 on the same server running together.  This really doesn't help though if the SQL 2014 instance would need to be something other than the default which everything is currently pointed
    to correct?
    4.  Is there any advice about a better way to go about this?  Or a better way to do this moving forward?  Other than not hard coding which I can't change now?
    Thanks!

    Hello,
Adding to the answers provided above, please consider discontinued features no longer available on SQL Server 2014.
I often see company configuring SQL Server aliases when installing SQL Server on SharePoint environments. You can certainly use DNS or use the following article.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms190445.aspx
An in-place upgrade is easier but is difficult to rollback in case something goes wrong. Meanwhile, a side-by-side upgrade provides you more control over what is upgraded, it keeps the legacy server online during the upgrade allowing you to easy rollback if
needed, but is not an automated process and the instance will not keep the same name, requiring you to use aliases or other ways to avoid client redirection.
Since you cannot change the application, go for a side-by-side upgrade and try the DNS alias or the client-side alias as I provided the procedure above.
    Hope this helps.

  • Adobe Flash Upgrade will not install after Firefox upgrade to 3.6.7

I upgraded to Firefox 3.6.7. After the upgrade I got a message that I needed to upgrade Adobe Flash due to security vulnerabilities. The Flash upgrade will not install. It simply sits and never installs no matter how long I wait.
    == This happened ==
    Just once or twice

Thanks for your response. I have previously reviewed this. The only potential problem it seems to resolve is having 2 versions of Shockwave installed. I only have one. The only thing I can think of to do is just uninstall the one version and see if it will trigger an installation. When I go to the Flash install site, I agree to the terms and get the next screen that says download will start. I never get a message asking if it's ok to run or anything. No matter where I look for a download for Flash I wind up at the same place with the same problem. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Iphoto still grayed out after iphoto upgrade after mavericks install, what should I do?

After upgrading to mavericks Iphoto was Grayed out. The computer Notified me that I would have to upgrade iphoto from 9.2.1 to to latest version.
went to the mac app store, the upgrade page showed the iphoto upgrade, it downloaded and installed the upgrade but iphoto is still grayed out in the dock and in the applications folder. The mac app store shows the iphoto upgrade as being installed. whot should I do?

First, make sure the new copy of iPhoto was not installed as a separate icon in your Applications folder.
If that's not the case, try launching it anyway; I've seen instances where the icon fails to update until the associated application is launched for the first time.

  • CS5 extended upgrade doesn't install over CS5

Trying to install a purchased CS5 extended upgrade over an installed CS5: DVD loads, and says "CS5 already installed".  I notice that the icon on
the disk doesn't call itself "extended" -- it is as though the disk, though labelled correctly on the box, doesn't actually contain the extended version.
I've tried the "chat" method of help from Adobe -- which is frustrating in many ways -- and they at least claimed that the serial number was correct.  If I
continue the installation, it will, in about a minute, put in a few things, including an older version of ACR, but Photoshop itself is unchanged, and certainly
    not the extended version.
Anyone who has done this successfully, did the icon on the installer call itself "CS5 extended"?
The "chat" helper tried to establish an "adobe connect" session, without success.  I'm very afraid to uninstall my CS5, on which I
depend! -- because then the upgrade installer may say " no product to upgrade!"    Short of another solution, I guess I am
    out my 384 dollars.
Don't know what to do next!

    Steve --
The chat, though it came up quickly enough, was frustrating in that
    a. It was hard to make them understand the problem
    b. Every time I went to do something they suggested, the chat was
lost and I had to start all over again (that's why it was "they").
Finally, I realized that I could tell them the case # so they could
get up to speed.  But they continued to ask the same questions over
again. We never got to any possible solution.
    c. The real issue is that I didn't understand that "extended" was the
same program, so I don't think my problem made sense to them.
I did (with some trepidation) deactivate, and the reactivation worked
fine.  If I had downloaded the upgrade from Adobe, I think the situation
would have been clear, but because I bought a boxed DVD, I assumed that
it was a "different" program, as it was when I upgraded my wife's CS4 to
    CS5.
Anyway, I'm all set now, and thanks again for your assistance and
    suggestions.

  • CS3 to CS5 upgrade - can't install CS3 on new mac first

I originally purchased CS3 years ago, then upgraded to CS5. Today, I purchased a new Mac OS X 10.10 and it says I need to first install the CS3 and then go through the upgrade again. Problem is that it will not install CS3 because it is not supported on the new operating system. So what to do?

There is no need to re-install CS3.
All installers (full and upgrades) contain the full program code. The serial number tells the installer if it's a full version or an upgrade.
Just install CS5, enter the CS5 upgrade serial number then the CS3 serial number when prompted.

  • I have Keynote 1.1.1, is there an upgrade I can install?

I have Keynote 1.1.1, is there an upgrade I can install?
To make matters worse, some system upgrade installed a demo version of iWork. Even thought I deleted the demo version, the installers say there is no updatable Keynote file inside the folder that is not there anymore.
Am I just out of luck with my old version?

Some of the API's that version of Keynote depended on aren't around anymore so it's not likely that Keynote 1.1.1 would be compatible with 10.6 anyway. Though, I have to admit I haven't tried.
A recent OS upgrade included an upgrade to all the iLife apps because the changes were so extensive that people ONLY updating the OS would have found iPhoto, iMovie and Garageband not working anymore, which also indicates that older version of Keynote may have had identical problems.

  • Is CS6 Upgrade supposed to install over CS5?

The other night I installed an upgrade of CS6 on my mac. Being an upgrade, I assumed it would install over my version of CS5, but it did not. So now I have CS5 and CS6 upgrade on my mac. Do I simply uninstall the old CS5? Or do I reinstall the CS6 again hoping it will install over the CS5?    Also, I installed Lightroom 4 on my mac - it did install over Lightroom 3.

Thank you so much for your quick response. I'll not drag to the  trash!

I am having some problems with downloading, possibly settings are incorrect, esp. flashplayer upgrade will not install - i have iMac 8.1 osx v10.5.8 - processor: 3.06 ghz intel core2 duo mem: 2 gb 800 mhz ddr2 sdram - i am considering making an appt with Apple store nearby since we have a few in vicinity but thought i would give the online support a try.

The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFl ash
You can check here what version of Flash player you actually have installed:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html
You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

  • 5.0.4 Upgrade won't install

I have a Power Mac G5, with a 2 GKz PowerPC 970 CPU with plenty of space on the hard drive (over 80 GB). I have Final Cut 5.0.1 from Final Cut Studio, and I am trying to upgrade to 5.0.4. I downloaded the upgrade, but when I ran it, it said it could not install the upgrade on my computer. In the system profile, the application is listed as "Final Cut Pro HD" 5.0.1. Is that why the upgrade won't install?
I believe I originally upgraded to Final Cut Pro Studio from Final Cut Pro HD.
    Many thank for any thoughts.

I imagine the Serial Number I entered was valid, because the website had to accept it in order to let me download the upgrade in the first place.
Ugg. I was hoping to avoid reinstalling. I just went through that with the hinky Quicktime 7.0.4 upgrade that scambled my operating system. I had to go back and reinstall that, which of course, forced me to reinstall all of Final Cut Studio.
But thanks for the suggestion. Any others that don't involve reinstalling 2 versions of Final Cut (hope, hope)?
