Upgrade Question re Raw

I have been using PSE5 for quite a while, but I have just bought myself a new camera, a Canon Powershot G11, which of course has the ability to take raw photos. I've not has a camera that does raw before, so it's never been an issue.
I'm not completely up to speed with how this all works yet (I only got it yesterday), but I think I'm right in thinking that special add-ins are required for handling raw files in PSE.
I may have misinterpreted something somewhere, but the first 'Camera Raw Update' plug-in which supports my new camera is version 5.6, which is shown as being 'not compatible with versions of PSE earlier than 6.0, so it looks like I'm going to have to upgrade my version of PSE.
First of all, am I correct in my interpretation as above? And, if so, will I need to buy the full product PSE8, or will the upgrade version accept PSE5 as a qualifying product?
Thanks in advance.

I haven't verified the information you quote, but assuming it is true, you will need PSE6 or later.
There is no difference in the upgrade versus full versions of PSE. Except the price. Get the upgrade.

  • Upgrading to Camera Raw 6.7 fails.

I am using Photoshop CS5 on Macbook Air running Yosemite 10.10.2. My problem is that upgrading to Camera Raw 6.7 fails. I can download it successfully but then the Adobe window says (rather uninformatively): " There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later." I tried this several time and the outcome is always the same. Can anyone advice? Thanks.

    This worked, thanks.
I have now discovered that Camera Raw 6.7 can't open RAW files generated by
Nikon D3300, but this is a different problem.

  • Security upgrade question - Getting 6.1.6 downloaded to iphone.

Security upgrade question - I have a 4S phone v6.01 with an upgrade to IOS 7.04 already downloaded and ready for install.  I would like to install the 6.1.6 security upgrade instead. How do I delete the ios7 in the queue or have the 6.1.1 pushed as an option to the phone?

You can't install iOS 6.1.6 on that device and must update it to 7.0.6.

I have Lightroom 4.4 and a Nikon d800 with firmware upgrade 2.005. raw files are now since upgrade, unreadable. any plugins or advice? Thanks

I select the images I want uploaded, NEF files, click the "IMPORT" button, process bar comes up and shows work in progress, but no progress. after about 2 minutes, dialogue box appears with message: "unable to import because the following files are unreadable: NEFxxxx, etc."

  • Upgrade to Camera Raw 8.3

I have just purchased a Nikon D610 and am now unable to load my RAW images into Photoshop Elements 12.  I believe I need to upgrade to Camera Raw 8.3 (I currently have version 8.0), but I can not see anywhere how I can download this upgrade and how to affiliate it PSE 12 so that I can actually use the pictures from my new cmaera.
Thanks in advance for your help

Thank you, that worked.  It was so simple, so apologies for being dumb.  But you have saved me lots of heratache and time.  As you can tell, I am new to Elements.
    Thanks again

  • Wanting to upgrade to camera raw 8.4

Going from Lightroom  to CS5 it wants to upgrade to Camera Raw 8.4. I'm not getting all the info together to be able to figure it out.

Photoshop CS5 has a a maximum version: CR 6.7 see: Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
So you can not use the RAW images from camera's that need the support for > 6.7 version of RAW plugin. see: Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
You can as a work around use the free DNG convertor convert the RAW images to DNG, DNG is supported in all versions of Photoshop and Lightroom.
Camera raw, DNG | Adobe Photoshop CC
    Good luck!

I installed Photoshop Elements 9 to my Mac and am trying to install the Elements 9.0.3 upgrade and Camera Raw 6.5 upgrade. The contact customer help button takes to me to a "This serial number is not for a qualifying product" page.

  • Can I upgrade the Camera Raw support in PSE 11 to version 8.3 or 8.4, so it supports my Nikon D5300?

I just upgraded my camera - and the Camera Raw support in PSE 11 is not able to support it.  Can I upgrade the Camera Raw plugin, or is Adobe going to force me to buy an upgrade to PSE 12 or another of their products?

You'd better complain to Nikon... Just like other camera manufacturers who issue new raw formats for each and every new camera. Adobe and all other software companies have to reverse engineer each new format. Those manufacturers could use the open and public DNG format (a few do).
Adobe answer to that problem is to provide a free software, the DNGconverter which can batch convert a folder of raw files to the universal DNG raw format which your old Elements version can read.

  • Can't Upgrade to Camera Raw 6.3 in LR 3.3

I can't upgrade to Camera Raw 6.3 because - althought I run Lightroom 3.3 - I'm only running the CS4 version of Photoshop.
This means that Lightroom won't process my Canon S95 RAW files.
    Have I misunderstood something?
By the way, I KNOW I can use Canon's own software to process the S95 RAW files, but a workflow's a workflow; wanna use Lightroom!!
    thanks

LR 3.3 uses ACR 6.3 and will import any supported RAW files, (which includes the PowerShot s95) and render them for use with any version of PS.
ACR 6.3 will only work as a stand alone application with PS CS 5.
If you have LR 3.3 and you do not have PS CS5 you do not require ACR 6.3 as it will not work with CS 4 or earlier versions of PS.
To use your files in PS just open from LR (right click on the file and select edit with PS). Lightroom will then render the file for use within any version of PS without the need for ACR. When you do this LR should clearly state that it is rendering the files as CS 4 does not support ACR 6.3, this makes no difference to the rendered files once opened in PS as LR and ACR both use the same engine. Process 2010, lens adjustments etc. (the new stuff) will all be present in the file irrespective of the PS version.

  • I have an upgrade question. I received a notification when I connected my computer to the internet that Lightroom 5.7.1 was available

I have an upgrade question. I received a notification when I connected my computer to the internet that Lightroom 5.7.1 was available it included HDR & Panoramic photo merge. I cant find these. Where do I find them.

well that was a big waste of my time & data allowance then ...
I live in a flaky slow internet area & I keep my photo edit machine off the internet unless & want to update something. CC is no use to me & that useless update just used up a 12th of my allowance for the year ...

  • Another RAM upgrade question

    Hi everyone,
I know there seems to be lots of RAM upgrade questions here but hey thats what forums are for.
    I'm looking to upgrade my macbook's RAM it's currently got 2GB (2x1GB)
Is it possible to purchase 1x4GB and put that with one of my current 1GB sticks to create a total of 5GB?
I would be interested to know if this is possible or if anyone has tried it.
    Thanks in advance
    Scott

This will work if your MacBook is late '07 or newer.

  • Macbook Pro Retina upgrade questions.

    Hey guys,
A warm hello. This is my very first post on the community, and i feel privildged to be here. Been an iPhone user since gen 1, now want to extend my love to MacBook Pro Retina.
I am planning on getting the rMBP 15.5" 2.6Ghz, 16GB RAM, 256 Flash Storage. I am choosing the higher end setup in terms of CPU and RAM capacity, but below average in terms of storage. I already have 72TB media server hooked to my A/V Rack, that is on Windows Home Server. Most of the time i will be using the laptop at home, where i can map the network and store and access my files from the media server. But there might be times when i'll be touring, or on vacation. One of the main reasons i am getting the higher end laptop is for my new found love for Photography which requires CPU and memory intensive processing for rendering RAW images. I am not a pro, and wont be.. this is plain hobby.
Now here is my main question, will i be able to upgrade just the flash storage in the future. Not now!! Say like in a year or so? I realize there is a kit that can be used, but they dont have it for the newer models.. thats what my colleague told me.. is this true? And if so, how hard is to upgrade the storage on the newer mbp? i can setup new desktops etc.. so i somewhat good with PC hardware etc.
Also, if i install windows on the side, will running both the OS on the MBP draw double the cpu/memory resources? Its like when we install Windows in VMWare the cpu consumption doubles up along with RAM. Is this going to be the same for MBP?

will i be able to upgrade just the flash storage in the future?
No and maybe.  Best to decide now.  Apple's official stance is there are no user servicable parts on the new MBPs (except for the mid-2012 model).
It is possible that in the future OWC (macsales.com) and others will have SSD upgrades for your Mac but you can't count on that.  Installing a 3rd-party SSD would void the warranty.  If you take it to Apple for repairs with a 3rd-party SSD they will not touch it.  At that point you could reïnstall the old SSD but if there is evidence you opened the Mac that might not help.
You can run Windows via a VM (as you described) or dual-boot using BootCamp (runing one at a time for higher performance).

  • Pentax k-x: recent upgrade messed up RAW conversion?

    Hi there,
Since I upgraded to 3.03 (from aperture 2) and the newer version of RAW definitions (with a special mention of fixing the pentax k-x!) when reprocessing my pictures are totally off. Sometimes it'll look a bit better but often it'll be darker (with irretrievable loss of detail), sometimes extremely green and quite often hideously pink. Pink!
    What's happening here?
    kind regards,
    Benji

    Hi,
I upgraded... probably just after aperture 3 came out. I sure my libbrary is already converted. I have a 2007 macbook pro (2.4 ghz core2duo, 2 gb ram, 8600gt w/ 256 mb vram).
My question isn't on the library but rather on the files themselves, when I reprocess a RAW file that was already imported into aperture. When I reprocess using the newer version of the RAW converter half my images are messed up

  • Windows 2003 SP2 upgrade question in regards to OSS 30478

We are currently running our production system on a windows 2003 sp1 two-node cluster with SQL 2005.
I would like to get it upgraded to SP2, but I have a question on OSS note 30478.
There is a sentence in there stating:
-Special features with Service Packs for Windows Server 2003 in the cluster:
Service Pack 2: Before you import Support Package on platform x86_64, you must replace SAP resource DLL on both cluster nodes with the most current version.
Can someone elaborate on "replace SAP resources DLL on both cluster nodes"?
Does that just mean I need to upgrade the Kernel to the latest version?
It seems to be a fairly bold statement with very vague instructions.  Anyways any guidance would be appreciated.

  • Satellite L50-A-19N HDD upgrade question

    Hi,
I would like to upgrade the standard HGST HDD to a faster Seagate SSHD, and the problem is that in this model L50-A-19N there is no HDD cover, the whole laptop bottom must be removed like in this Link: [Video|http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IG0lW7t92bI]
My question is can I upgrade the Disk by Myself and if not what can I do to replace the Disk not losing the warranty. I read the manual for this model and there is nothing about HDD upgrades there.
    Regards.

Usually on most notebook models HDD is placed at the bottom and access to it is not complicated. As you can see on your notebook model it is not so easy and HDD exchange is not supported. With other words it should not be done by notebook owner.
Valid warranty is very important so please don't do anything on your own. HDD exchange in your case can be done by authorized service provider. If they do this warranty will not be cancelled.
Contact nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. Addresses and phone numbers you can find on http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/generic/ASP_SUPPORT/
    Good luck
