UPGRADE RELATED TO OSS MODIFICATIONS

Hi all,
we are on verge of upgradtion form 4.6c to ECC 6.00
we have a lot of programs where we have applied oss notes.
Do i need to apply the oss notes in the new version ECC 6.00 too.
How can i know whether SAP has provided the same note modifications in new version i.e ECC 6.00
IN THAT CASE I DON'T HAVE TO APPLY OSS NOTE AGAIN.
Where does SPAU AND SPDD COME IN TO PICTURE

Hi Swathi,
For the Upgrade to ECC 6.0 from 4.6c, most of OSS notes applied in 4.6c will be anyway added in the standard delivered system.
All the previous delivered OSS notes will be added in some of the Packages or patches of the ECC 6.0 system if these notes are applicable to ECC 6.0.
You can check in one way that check the applicability of the OSS notes you used whether it is applicable to version ECC 6.0 or added in package number.
Check if that package is in the upgraded ECC 6.0 or not.
I was in one of the upgrade project 4.6c to ECC 6.0, As far as my experience most of the previous notes are included.
Once the System is upgraded and there are some modifications done to standard programs, then we will have the issue of whether to go with the standard or use our modifications. In that case SPDD and SPAU are useful.

I would like to know the conversion related efforts and I would appreciate if you can share some documents.
Do I have attend a demo workshop to learn more on upgrade activities?
Do we loose any data or any queries during upgrade?
What kind of functionality test we would have to perfrom?
What kind of regression testing activities, we would have to perform?
What kind of post upgrade activities to be performed?

PI 7.1 upgrade related issue (With removeContexts node function)

Hi all,
We have upgrade from PI 7.0 to 7.1, there was no changes done to the maps...but when we execute the old maps it give no value in the queue error: (this occurs during run time)...
But when I test the payload it executes fine...I have found and issue with remove context (the queue display in 7.0 is different than in 7.1)
It doesn't end with SUPPRESS context change...we have observe that the maps which has removeContext are failing...
Is there any OSS note on this issue...anyone faced this issue?
Any suggestions?

I have added the parameter to the init method of the Functions tab in our message mapping - retainlastValueofPreviousContext=true; according to the blog...but still the same error...
But, when I execute in the Test tab it works fine;
Any other suggestions or anyone who has faced this issue...we are on PI 7.1 SPS7

Upgrade production order after modification BOM

Dear Gurus,
we need upgrade the quantity requirement in the production order after the modification the quantity in the Bom ?
Is possible read newly the Bom whit the one operation confirmed ?
The component modificated don't allocated a this operation but for example a the operation in status initial.

then go for READ PP MASTER DATA option
or if u have relesed only one operation & confirmed only that operation (not full order)
then try to change in component in PRD prder itself in CO02 & realse that particular operation & confirm it

SAP Upgrade - Standard function modules & modifications

Hello everybody,
we are doing a SAP Upgrade to SAP ERP 6.0 and I need your help
Some SAP standard funcion modules were modified in the last years and some weeks ago the changes were undone. The last version of the function modules are the same than the original function modules, but the version manager shows that the last version belongs to the user FGZ583 (and not SAP).
The Problem is, that SAP deals with that function modules as a modification (because the last change was done by FGZ583?), but they are identical to the original SAP function modules.
When the Upgrade is done, the SPAU/SPDD/se95 show that function modules as "modifications", although they are the same that the original ones.
What could I do to avoid that SAP deals with that function modules as modifications?

Hello Prashad,
Its standard that once the object is changed the corresponding entry is recorded in different tables.Even if you roll back now system will treat as the modifications because corresponding change entries are present in the tables. You can try to activate the older versions but i don't think this will help you.
This is not a point of worry as in SPDD adn SPAU you can choose reset to original for all those objects.
Even if you can get those objects to move back to the source version they will get back to the standard in the new release.So my advise will be to let your upgrade run and then reset these objects to original.

[SOLVED] Emesene isn't working as expected anymore (upgrade related ?)

Yesterday, I used emesene, it was working perfectly well, and today it isn't anymore: It's very laggy, I can't talk to anyone because the GUI is just a grey box which doesn't show conversations windows, of the list of contacts anymore.

Actually kmess is crashing as well 20 seconds after I login after I did the same updates. Seems to be related to this problem

Apex upgrade related

Hi,
I have installed oracle database 10g release2 with 10201_compenign_win32 both are installed successfully
i logon as http://127.0.0.1:7777/pls/htmldb/htmldb_admin
i entered username and password then logout it.
after that i started upgrading with apex_3.2.1. i did all the steps under apex_3.2.1 upgrade tutorial.
after completion of all the steps
when i logon back
http://127.0.0.1:7777/pls/htmldb/htmldb_admin with. images are not going to diaplay.and there is no movement on page. when i click on submit button
all the steps are-

if you don't find anything Apex-related in the dads.conf you haven't configured the OHS yet to have a DAD for your APEX yet.

ECC 6.0 Upgrade related issue

Hi Gurus,
We have our project(SAP-HR) upgraded from 4.7 to ECC 6.0 version.
After data from prev system is shifted to the new system, I am facing an issue with smartform activation.
In ECC 6.0, I, without even making any changes to a smartform, tried to activate it. However it is not getting activated and giving error : Global Definitions: No component exists with the name int_tab.
However, int_tab is an intenal table of data dictionary type PERNR declared in the form interface. Using this internal table, data is passed from calling program to this smartform.
Note that this internal table is also mentioned in the input parameters in the Initialization tab in Global definitions.
This smartform is Active in the 4.7 version & the functionality is also perfectly working in that system and no changes have yet been made to the smartform in the new system(ECC 6.0).
One solution we hv discovered is renaming of the internal table, and using this new name in places where this internal table is mentioned which is cumbersome (and not very logically appealing as a solution) as this appllication has many smartforms using exactly similar functionality.

Structure PERNR exists in ECC 6.
However number of fields has increased in the structure. (I am sceptical about this being the reason for not allowing activation)
How do I ensure that the global definitions is correct. Its just the same as in the previous system and moreover if you run the syntax check on global definitions it shows no error(Check successfully executed).

Problem related to OSS Note - importing file problem

I m facing an issue while implenting an oss note 430580 , i have to import files from sapserver.
but i don't know how to do it.
below is the description of my problem.
Import the following files from SAPSERV:
/general/R3server/abap/note.0430580/K000687.PLM

Import the two files into your system.
For more information on SAPSERV, see Note 13719.
Can any one tell me how can i get rid out of this prioblem.
whether this is possible or BASIS Team can only do this.

Well, these files are part of the zip.file which belong to the note. This is part of a regular transport and is normally done be basis. The data and the cofile (K....PLM & R...PLM) should be imported into your system. Before doing so they have to be transferred to the file server. Better let BASIS do these kind of things.

Upgrade related doubts

Hello Experts,
I have few doubts (Questions) regarding the upgrade from BW 3.5 to BI 7.0. I am having certain issues after the upgrade. i want to know if these are because of the upgrade or are these general issues. Can you please give me the reasons in detailed as well.
Below are my questions
1. An Event is triggering a process chain in 3.5, but the same process chain after upgrade didn't work, so when i checked the Event is missing in the Process chain.
2.There were inconsistencies in the info objects in Dev and Production
3.Development was having low space in the memory

Migration would not affect the process chain...
you should activate and schedule the process chain again....
check the event is available ...
and regarding memory, BI running on java instance it may need more memory...ask the DBA to increase the memory...

Upgrade related query- Repository Update

Hi All,
As mentioned in the upgrade guide :
After installation of MDM 7.1 and having started the MDM 7.1 Server use the MDM Console to update
your repositories. Choose Update Repository from the context menu of each repository. The MDM Console then updates
the repository so that it can be used with the latest builds. The data in the repository is automatically
upgraded.
But, i did the same thing but in my case after un-archiving the repository and login in with respective correct repository credentials,Right clicking on repository the option "Update Repository" is not active ...How will i do this action ?how do i update the repository now ?
( I have tried by Loading & Unloading also )

[package related not upgrade related] xorg-server-kdrive won't compile

The page related to this package suggests that it fails to build except I'm not too sure what to make of the comments - at any rate, it refuses to compile, complaining about something like %.04X not being what the compiler expected it to be or some such - I closed the terminal as soon as it failed >.>
So... how do I compile this?

We are using sap business one 2005 pl 25. We using Databae sql server 2005 for it.
Now if suppose if we upgrade to sql 2005 to sql 2008 then sap b1 2005 will support or not?
Now second question:-
If suppose we upgrade our SAP B1 2005 to SAP 8.8 then whether it support to SQL 2005 or SQL 2008?

Upgrade your SQL server from 2005 to 2008.
and upgrade your SAP B1 2005 b immediately because SAP 2005 B is no longer supportive by SAP.
Before upgrading database and SAP date the backup of your company databases.
SAP 8.8 Supports both SQL 2005 and SQL 2008
but SAP b1 2005b Only supports SQL server 2005

My current project demands a upgrade from XSS 603 SP 6 to XSS 603 SP 6. My team has already personalized all the 36 standard countries.
We have copied the standard ESS content to custom folder and then have done the personalization. Its just a copy and not a delta link.
I request you to let me know if there will be any problem to run the personalized set of custom ESS iViews after upgrade?
Will they stop working or they will still continue to work even after upgrade?
What can be the other issues after upgrade? Will the HomePage framework setup needs to be done again?
Please help me with the answers as I need to provide such answers to client .

Below is the reply from SAP:
During MOPZ selection, for any packages you donn't want,
you can de-selected the check box in front of it. Some are
not editable check boxes, which means they are crucial judged
by MOPZ.
Just keep in mind that de-selecting the packages recommended
by MOPZ, after updating your system, different software components
may be incompatible, since it is not tested scenario.
Following MOPZ recommendation will ensure software components
patch levels are consistent, since this is tested scenario.
So, we cannot update only HR components, we should also update the mandatory components that are selected by MOPZ.
