Upgrade & Save question

Does any DVD you trade in need to be in perfect condition?  Also, once you receive the coupon, does it need to be redeemed that day, or how long do you have to use the coupon?

Just remember you need to include the case and the cover art. Don't bring in a disc hoping to take part of it. Coupon I hear is ending in August. Don't know the actual date though so you can use it till that date. Honestly, buy your movies while you get rid of dvds. No point in trading in more than what you're buying cause you wouldn't want to waste a dvd. Do it at the same time.

  • IPhoto '08 to iPhoto '11 Upgrade PROBLEM & Questions

Despite all the negative reviews at the App Store about iPhoto '11, I decided upgrade from iPhoto '08 so I could conveniently upload photos to FaceBook from iPhoto. (The FaceBook Uploader for iPhoto never worked for me.) I thought the ratio of negative reviews were unbalanced because people who are satisfied with the product have less motivation to write a review. Maybe I was wrong.
    My problem:
I only bought iPhoto '11, not the iLife package, from the App Store. When I first opened iPhoto '11, I was warned that my library would no longer be readable by earlier iPhoto versions. No problem, I expected that. As I had somewhat over 15,000 photos in my iPhoto '08 Library, I was also notified that that it would take an hour or longer to rewrite the library. No problem, I expected that too. iPhoto first read my old library, then started rewriting. When the rewriting progress bar was just past halfway, iPhoto '11 suddenly quit and sent an "iPhoto Problem Report" to Apple. This has happened about 5 times now, both before and after restarting my computer. It might seem related to free disk space, but I just put in a new 750Gb hard drive with over 400Gb free. All my other specs also meet or exceed iLife's requirements.
    My Questions:
    1. Can anyone suggest what they think the problem is and how to proceed? I couldn't find a similar problem in the Apple Support Community.
    2. If I can't upgrade, how do I go back to iPhoto '08? I backed up everything to an external drive using Time Machine before trying to upgrade. I know there's a iPhoto Library file in Pictures but there's also another file somewhere that contains the data for titles, events, comments and edits. How do I find it and how do I restore them to my MacBook?
    3. Can I get my $14.95 back from Apple? I don't see a way to talk to Apple without costing me more than the $14.95
Any help will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

What's happening is that some file (or files) in the Library are damaged in some wy and that's tripping up the upgrade. This file (or files) may not necessarily be photos but could be one of the background database files. Unfortunately there's not any real way of knowing.
Any time you upgrade or update an app or the OS you run the risk of exposing a problem that has bee hidden heretofore. That's why you make back ups.
Possible solution: Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
Reverting means restoring your Librry from Time Machine and re-installing 08. It's not a big thing to do.
Contact App Store support about a refund. There's an email link on the right hand side of the app store window.

  • MacBook Pro hard disk upgrade shows question mark folder

I recently bought a 1TB hard disk for my teenaged daughter's MacBook Pro.
I formatted it, used Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the existing drive. I even made sure to create the recovery partition.
I restarted while holding the option key and chose the new drive.  It booted fine so I checked in System Preferences to make sure it was selected as the boot device.
I opened the case and swapped the drives. Put it back together and restarted only to see the question mark folder!
I tried booting while holding the option key and now I get the choose a network prompt.
I am desperate and hate the thought of disappointing my daughter. It used to be that I was her hero who could fix anything now I'm the guy who asks too many questions and doesn't put enough money on her debit card. Granted she busts her butt getting awesome grades and I was upgrading her drive so she could continue her video yearbook for her school. So I shouldn't complain but it would be great to be her hero again.
BTW, I am not a newbie to the tech world but I don't do nearly as much in the Apple arena as I do in the PC world.  Then again I've been a senior tech in the industry sine before IBM had a PC.  In fact, my first real work was on a 6502 processor that used the same machine code as the Rage of the day, the Apple ][. All that to say I usually can find my way around a problem but this one has me stumped.
    I appreciate any assistance offered.
    Thanks,
    Thom

I tried to reboot with the option, command P. And R keys pressed.  I heard the ding several times it still showed the question mark!  I also tried the shift option and it only displayed the network selection. Also I tried to press C so I could boot from USB and it didn't work either.
If I cannot get this to work I fear my only other choice is to use a FireWire enclosure. This isn't a good option as my daughter does mostly movie work and iMovie has this terrible "feature" that forces all movies to be stored in one place. It sure would be handy if it allowed movie projects to set the storage location individually.  I suppose I could simply move all the movies to the drive and try to find a way to point all iMovie projects to the external drive.
Unfortunately,  my daughter is one of those Mac users who isn't savvy enough to use anything but the default settings. Heck I've tried to explain to her that she ought to get rid of the big files once she has done her work.  That's why her drive is always full.

  • CCX 4.5 to 9.0 upgrade SKU question

Our customer wants to upgrade his Cisco IP phone system to version 9.1.
Now they are using CallManager version 5.1 and CCX version 4.5.
CallManger upgrade is clear to me but the CCX is not.
I have read in Cisco Unified Contact Center Express Upgrade Guide:
"If you are running any other earlier releases of Cisco Unified IP IVR, such as 4.0(5) or 4.5, consider upgrading your system to Unified CCX 7.0(2)ES03 and then use this document to upgrade to Unified CCX 9.0(x) using the Windows to Linux upgrade."
So upgrading CCX from version 4.5 to 9.0 is possible.
But when I configure "L-CCX-90-UPG-LIC" in CCW I could set "CCX 9.0 UPGRADE - 7.0 to 9.0" only.
    I cannot find "CCX 4.0 UPGRADE - 4.0 to 9.0" or something.
Which SKU I have to buy in order to upgrade CCX version 4.5 to 9.0?
    Thanks in advance,
    Laszlo

Gergely brings up a good point. The decision needs to be based on how badly you want to keep the historical reporting data. If this isn't important to you then I would agree: you can save yourself a lot of time by just building a new 9.x install and manually migrating the configuration over.
Note that the Windows to Linux migration tool from 7.0 to 9.0 only carries forward roughly the most recent ~1.5GB of the database records so you'll experience some data loss even during an upgrade.

  • UPGRADE ASSISTANT QUESTIONS for ECC6.0???????911

I have used upgrade assistant in the past for 4.6C and 4.7 upgrades and had no problems.  I am having trouble getting the assistant to work through the internet browers.  I need help with a couple of questions:
First:  Do I need do a prepare and SERVER option like I had in the past with R3UP?
Second:  Is there anything special that needs to be done for ports 4239,4240,4241. I can reach my server through the internet of some of the ports that R3 uses.
It seems the java is not recognizing my i5 server and I am not sure where the disconnect is.
This is the error I am receiving when I try to start the upgrade assistant:

    - add your application fix <application>_FIX to /usr/sap/put
    - $JAVA_HOME/bin/java -cp /usr/sap/put/ua/ua.jar UaServer
    - give an administrator password
After that the UA should listen on port 4239
You can verify that on the machine via
    netstat -tn | grep -i LISTEN | grep 4239
Also check that you have either no proxy or add the box' name to the exception list of the browser (because Java uses that exception list too).

  • Rotating images in iphoto & screen saver questions

    hi there!!
i'm a newbie to apple discussions! too bad i didn't find out about it BEFORE i broke the cardinal rule and lost nearly my WHOLE library very comforting to see that i'm not the only one ;_
    anyway, here are my questions:
    1. when i import images into iphoto library, the vertical ones automatically show up in the upright position in the library. BUT when i switch to the edit window they show up sideways. the same is true when i use my iphoto library/folders as a screen saver: even though they are upright in the library, they are being displayed sideways. if i rotate them inside the edit window into the upright position, they show up sideways in my library. it seems like either way i can't win.
    2. when i use iphoto library or any of my albums as a screen saver, the slideshow plays for a little while and then stops. i mean, not longer than 2 or 3 minutes long. and sometimes i won't start at all. any ideas??
    thank you much!!!

What version of iPhoto 5 are you running? The iPhoto 5.0.4 Updateupdate fixes that problems.

  • IPhone Upgrade Eligibility Question

My old iPhone 3G has finally died (a collision accident that popped the screen and forced it into white screen mode. I have no way of fixing this, and if there is a solution involving the home and sleep buttons, I have no luck because the latter button is in disrepair.
I lived with a phone with broken pixels and the aforementioned broken skeep button so that I would be able to save my At&T upgrade for the next iPhone. I require a phone now though. Would I lose my upgrade offer if I were to replace my phone temporarily with a free iPhone 3GS?  It is extremely important that I know as soon as possible.
    I'm looking forward to responses.
    Thank you.

All right, thank you. It looks like that all of my data is safe at the moment. It's in dormancy of course.
It looks like there's no way for me to wait for the iPhone 5 then, after all of this time waiting. I find it rather unfortunately that I can't get a temporary replacement somehow.
Anyway, how do I back-up the back-up so I don't accidentally overwrite it with something else?

  • Upgrading OS questions

I need to upgrade my MacBook Pro's OS from 10.5.8 to be able to sync with my iPhone.  My questions are:
    1) How far up do I need to go?  I do have the CD for Snow Leopard, will this be enough to get the most recent update of iTunes? (haven't installed Snow Leopard yet)
    2)  I'm using Microsoft Office 2008 (Word only) 12.1.0 and have read that it must be updated also.  Can I update straight from 12.1.0 to the most recent 2008 update, which appears to be 12.3.6?
I guess those are my main questions.  All I really need/want to do is to be able to sync my iPhone again.  I would appreciate any comments, suggestions, advice on this.  Thanks!

    1, 10.6.8
To upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6, you must purchase the Snow Leopard install DVD from Apple.
    Backup first.
2, Ask Microsoft, since it is their product

  • P67A GD55 Rev B - Upgrade Bios Question

To be honest, this post supposed to be a private message to Svet, but turned out a newbie like me who just joining the forum is not allowed to send PM...so apology if this questions are being asked so many times already:
    Dear svet,
Really need your help in clarifying something, to make it short here are my questions:
First here are my PC Specifications:
    MSI P67A-GD55 rev B
    Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB XMP Enabled
    PSU Corsair X750W
    Intel Sandy Bridge i5 2500k
    OS Windows 7 x64
    1. I have upgraded my GD55 rev B bios to the latest bios available here: msi.com/product/mb/P67A-GD55--B3-.html#/?div=BIOS
which foolishy I didn't read the warn that it will not work proeperly for Sandy Bridge
    2. The bios update/flash was a success, now I have the ver II click bios, completely different with the first version. With this bios I managed to OC to my previous OC speed (4.2GHz in OC Setting by changing it into 42 multiplier and set the Vcore to 1.35)
    3. The reason that I updated my bios in the first time was I often experience 0x50 error while gaming certain games, and I thought upgrading bios is one of the solutions for it (after trying to change my RAM, changing my GPU, and my PSU to no avail)
    4. Then I stumble to this post of yours: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=164135.0
with some fix in the 434 version states like this: "05.Fix system reset on 0x55 issue when use Sandy Bridge G440 CPU and install two 4G memory."
I am completely not sure whether this is related to my 0x50 BSOD or not, but really hoping that it is.
So my question is, should I upgrade/downgrade to your first post BIOS? (E7681IMS.434) or should I upgrade/downgrade to the latest beta 439 Bios (E7681IMSv439.rar) as the fix in 434 are included in 439?)
Thank you so much in advance for any help...
    Regards,

While waiting for Svet to respond, I will tell you that BSOD 050 is not enough DRAM V. being applied. It's rather a shame you didn't open a thread in the regular part of the forum, or the OC section of the forum asking for assistance 'before' flashing an Ivy support UEFI/BIOS.
That CPU is most likely capable of OC'ing to 42X easily on Auto CPU voltage while maintaining all the power saving features. VDroop set to Low or 100% depending on the available settings.
What is X.M.P. setting the DRAM V. at? If 1.50v's, to solve your BSOD, probably would have just required raising the DRAM V. to about 1.575v's or maybe even less manually. Rather than using X.M.P., the DRAM Frequency setting could have been changed manually to 1600.
Yes, all newer final or Beta versions will have previous release improvements incorporated.
Thank you for the reply...forget to delete the "dear Svet" part as it was copied from once private message intended
To be honest, I see myself rather as a silent reader than an active poster...so I would really try to avoid posting due to English isn't my first language....if that even make sense...
I think I have read quite a lot of 0x50 BSOD (CTD errors to be exact) in other forums to...have tried what people had posted as solutions for them...and still to no avail, hence my foolish and rushed attempt in flashing the bios...please do mind that the current bios is quite stable in my opinion, despite the same BSOD (CTD) in the certain game I have mentioned in my first post...
I have followed OC guide and benchmark in other forum which show each of its poster their OC settings and result (specifically i5 2500k series), and I have tried around 1 week to safely say that my unfortunate chip can only handly a stable 24/7 4.2GHz in that volt...i'm so lucky
and for XMP volt, I have no idea to be honest, I just enable it in the bios, will really look at it later on...
tl'dr thank you so much for the new insight of how to solve the 0x50! really appreciate it....If i can remember correctly, I have tried to use the default DRAM setting (without using XMP enabled) and still got the 0x50 CTD....but trying your suggestion is still a worth a try...will try this when I get home...thank you!

  • Photoshop CS6 upgrade - installation question

So, 2 months ago I got a new notebook. I installed CS4 and made sure I got everything working perfectly. Then, this month I installed the CS6 trial and boy it has a crapload of permission-related temp file directory blunders. To narrow it down to just CS6, I uninstalled and reinstalled all Adobe related software on my machine except for CS4.  After 10-12 hours of configuration trial and error with the temp-file blunder, I have CS6 working perfectly as well. So now I have a trial version of CS6 with a leftover CS4 key on the computer.
Now for my question: Will the trial accept a CS6 upgrade key or will I have to reinstall using the CS6 upgrade disc? I'd really prefer not to uninstall CS6 again.

Yes, you can just input your serial number in the trial version.

  • XI3.0 simple upgrade - Few questions

    Hi Gurus,
I ran into some issues with my upgrade to XI3.0 from XIR2 SP4. I was using a simple upgrade method.
1- It seemed like the upgrade was going fine throughout. I stopped all the services before upgrade (including Tomcat). When prompted for tomcat5.5 ports, I used the default values though the XIR2 tomcat uses those ports. I thought it should not be a problem because XIR2 tomcat is stopped anyways. After the install, I noticed that the cmc and infoView folders in tomcat55/work/catlina/localhost were missing. Needless to say that CMC and InfoView did not work.
2- I thought I'll uninstall and use different ports, but the uninstall did not work. i tried both through the media and through Add/Remove programs. The media uninstall gave a 'Fatal Error' in the end and the Add/Remove program errored immediately saying 'Error applying Transforms......'
    Questions:
1- I'd like someone to first please confirm that what I noticed after the install was because I used the same port numbers.
2- How can I make the uninstall to work?
3- Since the upgrade process migrated the repository, can I uninstall XIR3 and 3.0, perform a new 3.0 installtion that uses the (migrated) repository?
    Thanks,
    Kashif

    Hi,
    Addition to the above
go for 7.11 (i.e ehp1 of 7.1) ..as it have other features to use..
especially proxy feature in AAE (using XI protocol in SOAP) and also Idoc packaging which will be veryful ..
for compatible side 7.1 onwards we have pattern in service interface(message interface) with XI 3.0 stateless..
    Gud luck

  • Upgrade path question...

I've been using golive 6 and in about a month I'm planning to upgrade...I'm seeing upgrades to golive 9 (which i read here has its problems), CS2 which I'm assuming I can update golive 6 to, and then the alternative that the Adobe site offers/suggests, switch to Dreamweaver...
I haven't followed all the changes and rumor...maybe you can help me here...is golive a dead end now? Is Adobe going to eventually just abandon it for DW?...
Also, I'll be updating my other adobe software to CS3 for photoshop, illustrator, and indesign...so nice integration between Golive CS2 or DW would be a goal...
Please don't shoot me if this isn't the place to ask, it just seems you guys know everything when I come with a question about me being lost and confused in golive...
oh, I did watch the little video presentation about DW on the Adobe site...i didn't feel totally lost looking at the examples there...I do wonder if DW will just be so new that'll i'll be totally lost for while...I've read of some complaints from golive users in the past...
I mean, can you tell me if DW has any 'major' shortcoming?...I'm not familiar with it...just know about golive 5 and 6 which wasn't too complicated and allowed me to do a website 'almost' pain free...
thanks for any advice/experience/tips you can pass along...I mean I could spend near $200 for the CS2 update or for $400 just buy DW...just don't want to waste money on an update if it doesn't make sense/cents...
    thanks...
    M

ok, so i just found this in the golive to dw transition forum...i think this starts to explain what i need to know...

  • IDSM-2 upgrade process questions.

    Hello,
I started a new job and have been tasked with looking into what we can do with the IDSM-2 module we have in our 6509. The company has not been using the module so it hasn't been updating in a few years. I do not have a current license so I know I cannot install new signature updates, but what I would like to do is upgrade the software to version 7.0(5a)E4. Once I have it upgraded I would like to configure it in our environment and then see about getting a signature license.
I have a few questions regarding the upgrade process, and could use some assistance.
First the IDSM is currently running version 5.1(3)S256.0. From what I have read I don't believe I can go directly to 7.0(5a)E4 so my Planned Upgrade Path is: 5.1(3)S256.0 -> 5.1(8)E3 -> 7.0(5a)E4.
Am I able to upgrade this way or is there another recommended way that I should do this upgrade?
The files I have for this are below, will they be enough or am I missing any?
Do I apply them in the order listed?
Can I apply all of these files from the IDM GUI?
    IPS-K9-5.1-8-E3.pkg
IPS-engine-E3-req-5.1-8.pkg <--- Is this included in the above file?
    IPS-K9-r-1.1-a-5.1-8-E3.pkg
    IPS-K9-7.0-5a-E4.pkg
    IPS-K9-r-1.1-a-7.0-5a-E4.pkg
I plan on backing up my configuration first just in case, but should this process have any affect on the configuration?
I also saw that the upgrade will convert the configuration, so should I back it up a second time between the 5.1(8)E3 and 7.0(5a)E4 step?
Will there be any effect on network traffic or downtime during this process?
Is there any thing else I need to be aware of or that I'm missing?
    Thanks in advance,
    Will

Hi Will. Since you indicated that this sensor has not been in-use, it would be quickest/easiest to simply re-image it directly to the desired version (7.0(5a)E4). Additional benefits of doing this are that the sensor's filesystem will be created clean, OS/binaries cleanly installed, no potential config conversion issues, etc.
Step-by-step instructions for doing this can be found here.
And, the System Recovery Image file you will need ('IPS-IDSM2-K9-sys-1.1-a-7.0-5a-E4.bin.gz') can be downloaded here.
Will there be any effect on network traffic or downtime during this process?
That depends on whether the sensor is configured in Promiscuous Mode or Inline [VLAN Pair] Mode. You can determine this from the Catalyst config. If the sensor is installed in Inline [VLAN Pair] Mode, then certainly the re-image (and even just upgrade) could be traffic-impacting (if there is no alternative/backup path for traffic to take), as in both scenarios, the sensor is rebooted and not available for ~10 minutes (during which time, it would not be forwarding traffic (if it were installed Inline)). Additionally, since re-imaging results in a clean/default config, if the sensor were configured Inline, that portion of the config would have to be re-input post-reimage so that the sensor would know to forward traffic accordingly again. Details about the modes can be found here.

  • Macbook Pro 15" 2.5 Ghz upgrade kits question

Hi i've been reading about the possibilites of upgrading my Macbook Pro to 8GB. But i have been reading conflicting reports.
I bought my Macbook Pro in March 2009. It is widely agreed that a macbook pro bought before the June revisions can only be upgraded to 6GB unofficially.
YET on the apple website for upgrading memory on pre June revisions my 2.53ghz Macbook Pro is not listed http://store.apple.com/uk/memoryfamily/MEMBP_ALG1
BUT on the current post June revision memory upgrade page my 2.53ghz macbook pro IS listed and is available to upgrade to 8GB.
    http://store.apple.com/uk/memoryfamily/ME_MBP
So my question is wether my March 09 bought Macbook Pro 2.53ghz is able to upgrade to 8GB?

This makes sense, because where on earth are you going to find two 3GB chips--they should be installed in identical pairs--and 4GB pairs was recommended to me by Crucial with the caveat that only 6GB would be addressable.
Ideally you would use identical pairs, but if your use of the MBP can benefit from 6GB of RAM instead of 4GB, the benefits of the extra RAM will far outweigh the tiny speed penalty from using unmatched modules. So there's nothing wrong with using a 2GB and a 4GB module together while you wait for the release of Snow Leopard and confirmation from other users that your machine can use 8GB when running SL. I don't believe that will prove to be true, but I know there's all kinds of speculation and purported reasoning out there to that effect. The only sensible way to approach it is to wait and see. Someone will certainly try it the moment they're able to, and the results will undoubtedly appear here and everywhere else. If you want more RAM in the meantime, buy a single 4GB module.
