Upgrade-SPSite -VersionUpgrade hanging

Hi there
I have an 89GB Content Database I am upgrading from 2007 to 2010 and then to 2013.
Upgrade to 2010 took 30 hours. (No errors)
Upgrade to 2013 took 5 hours. (Only errors reported were for "ERROR Feature upgrade incomplete for Feature 'Publishing' Exception: Access is denied." and "ERROR Feature upgrade action 'CustomUpgradeAction.EnsureVariationsInfrastructure' Exception:
Access is denied.". Both these showed in a different DB upgrade as well, but that one works fine and I am able to manually activate these features, so have taken that these are not critical)
Now, subsequently doing the VersionUpgrade for the visual update I left one run to go as long as 100 hours; and still not done - and I have no way to tell if it has any issues or if it is hung; or if I should just let it run longer. SQL is now at 18GB RAM
used out of the 24GB available, and the CPU is 30%. On the App server running the Visual Upgrade,  RAM is 10/12GB used; and CPU is 2%. Also, nothing being logged in ULS.
I have since stopped the upgrade, restarted the server, and restarted the Upgrade; and now it seems to be in the same place again.
(Not sure if its related, but if I try and run a Test-SPContentDatabase for this DB; to see if I can find any clues, it seems to hang as well.)
Any thoughts welcome!!
Thanks
David

Hi David,
According to your description, my understanding is that you got some errors when you upgraded SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013.
Please go to the log file to check more information about these error.
Whether these errors contained an Id parameter, like Id: 15/'aebc918d-b20f-4a11-a1db-9ed84d79c87e'.
If yes, please run the following command:
stsadm -o deactivatefeature -id aebc918d-b20f-4a11-a1db-9ed84d79c87e –Url "http://site"
stsadm -o activatefeature -id aebc918d-b20f-4a11-a1db-9ed84d79c87e –Url http://site
Re-ran the upgrade-spsite

after installing the latest upgrade firefox just hangs when opening - was fine before. have tried deleting restore session but worse not better now. no change with firewall.

  • Upgraded Firefox is hanging. When Firefox opens none of the bookmakrs are available immediately. They hang for a monent. When opening up a window in an application (i.e., email address search) the window hangs.

When opening Firefox, the bookmarks hang for up to 30 seconds before they can be accessed. Also have a hanging issue when opening a window/pop-up within an application (i.e., email search window).
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == After automatic upgrade

Unless the schedule it's running on is every single time I open Firefox (including closing it & reopening it right away), I don't think that's the case. Also, I don't have any of these issues on the PC I switched back to v3.6 on. That one runs smoothly whether I run Ccleaner, registry optimizers, clear the cache & history or whatever. I thought after you first gave me the answer of deleting the session files that they must've got corrupted during the upgrade, but it seems that v4 just doesn't do a good job of retaining or maintaining those files without getting them corrupt or something.
If this is not an issue with everyone & I'm having it on both my PCs, then v4 has an issue with something that I install on my PCs that, I guess, many others don't although I don't know what that could be and I use everything I install or have running. So, I'm just going back to what works without having to dismantle my config one prog at a time to try to find what v4 may be finicky about.
By the way, I did check & couldn't find any cleaners that run automatically on my PCs.

  • 10g BPEL process upgrade to 11g hangs in Jdeveloper and Ant script

I have successfully upgraded several 10g (10.1.3.4) BPEL processes and ESB services using Jdeveloper 11g (11.1.1.6.0) migration wizard and deployed them to an 11g environment. Both 10g and 11g environments are up and running.
However, my 11g jdeveloper hangs when migrating the next BPEL process. It hangs at the message box with the title: "Migration Status". I tried the Ant script and it hangs too. It hangs after printing out:
    "CompositeRefs
[upgrade] WARNING: UPGBPEL-02009: No Binding setup for : "soapCheckPrivileges"
. This will cause compilation of the upgraded project to fail. Check SOA Upgrade
documentation on manual steps necessary to bind this composite reference. If ne
cessary, upgrade and deploy any dependencies. If planning to retain 1013x nodes
in this projects dependency tree, check earlier part of this log for 1013x WSDL
    URLs that can be used."
I guess it makes sense since Jdeveloper and Ant script use the same code base for migration.
One other observation is that if I kill the hanging jdeveloper process and reopen it and go through the migration wizard again, it will be successful without hanging. However, when I fix all the wsdl reference and do a build and deploy to sar. The resulting sar is defective and cannot be deployed to Weblogic even if both build and deploy to sar report success. The defective sar contains only scac.log and scac-log.xml, not even composite.xml.
One difference between this BPEL process and others I have successfully upgraded is that it depends on an ESB service (this esb service has been upgraded and deployed to 11g).
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

I will answer my question. I killed the migrating Java process and the migrating wizard will report failure of migrating the .jpr file. Actually, the only thing missing in the migrated .jpr file is deployment profile which I can generate from deployment menu. And I can deploy the migrated process. This works as a workaround.

  • After 10.1 iTunes and 4.2 IOS on Iphone 3GS upgrade, old Outlook hang retur

After hours of fiddling at the worst possible time, I may have got some of my iphone back, but not yet all. Foolishly agreed to upgrade iTunes 10 to 10.1 on Vista 64-bit Home Premium, in order to upgrade iPhone 3GS from 4.1 to 4.2.
Firstly, iTunes wouldn't run after upgrade. Had to completely uninstall and reinstall iTunes and Apple App; Support, AND manually copy CoreVideo.dll from one folder to another.
Then the 4.2 installation failed midway and forced a complete recovery and restore.
Then (and this is the problem I now have, though worked around by temporarily disabling Contact, Cal;endar, Notes and Favourites sync - Mail already disabled) iTunes hangs Ouitlook so the post-Restore sync stalls.
As I write the sync is finally running - 4 hours of solid fiddling and googling after I started. But I will need to be able to re-sync all my Outl;ook data. I have done the Add-ins check in Outlook, so where do I go from here?

I notice that the iTunes was installed under the Program Files(x86) Folder and it runs under 32 bit mode.
It seems something wrong with the installer...

  • Computer beach balls with 10.9.1 upgrade; process "coreserviced" hangs

Ever since upgrading to OS X 10.9.1, every time my computer wakes from sleep or restarts, within 5 minutes the process "coreserviced" will take up 100% CPU. My menu bar and dock hang, and only the programs that I already have open are responsive. I have to hard restart to "fix" it, but that only lasts for another 3-5 minutes. This makes my MacBook useless! Does anyone know what can be done?

It's not a great "solution", but I just backed up my user folder and did a fresh install of Mavericks. That fixed the problem. Would still be nice if someone knew of a way to do this without a fresh install in case others have this issue.

  • Upgrade on CUCM Hangs ona certain spot in post install

I have been working on upgrading the CUCM servers to this version 7.1.5.35112-2   from 7.1.5.34900-7
I was able to do this on the publisher with out a reboot and a switch version. So I am stable right now. Every time I try to do the install on the subscribers it hangs on this part
    Calling sftp with arguments sftpuser@nix225
    spawn sftp sftpuser@nix225
    Connecting to nix225...
    sftp> sftp> lcd /common/download
    sftp> get /common/ontape_backup.gz
    Fetching /common/ontape_backup.gz to ontape_backup.gz
Couldn't open local file "ontape_backup.gz" for writing: Permission denied
Looks like it is trying to write a file on the publisher nix225 not sure why it is doing this or if it is normal. Either way it is not able to pull and write to it.
Any ideas of what to look at with this?
I have attached the capture log as well.

    Hi,
I think the autoconfig fails for me is because the old Host name (DVLP003) is stored in some of the apps tables. I am doing the R12 upgrade in DVLP008. Its not able to generate TNSNAMES.ora and Listener.ora.

  • Mavericks upgrade problems - download hanging

Seeking help with curious problem. I've been trying, unsuccessfully so far, to upgrade a mac mini to Mavericks from OS 10.7.5 (Mid 2011, 2.7 GHz Core i7, 8 GB RAM). Download starts and proceeds  slowly but ultimately stalls at 1.01 GB downloaded or about 20% of the way into the total download size (5.30 GB). I delete the hung download/start of install out of Launchpad and start again at the app store but the process simply repeats - it starts off well but stops at 1.01 GB downloaded. Most vexing.
    Thanks for any suggestions,
    Zenurgist

the 1.01GB limit is an issue with 2-Wire or BT HomeHub routers.  It is either 995Mb or 1.01Gb limits.  The workaround is to go somewhere else that doesn't use these routers.

  • G4 upgraded to Leopard hangs at start up

    Hi all,
Just bought Leopard and upgraded my Macbook without a problem. Then proceeded to upgrade my powerbook (which is now living life as my desktop as I killed the monitor and now have an external one plugged in). Everything went fine with the installation up until I get the setup assistant. I went through the set up assistant without a problem until the end when it just crashed with the "wheel of thinking". After a couple of hours of it not doing anything and me being unable to force quit, I forced shut it down and rebooted.
The Powerbook would boot into Finder and then immediately bring up the wheel of thinking again. Again I left it for quite some time in case it had to do something but nothing happened
Any thoughts? I'm about to do a reinstall and hopefully this will fix it.

There are several factors that may make an archive and install a poor choice for users upgrading to Leopard.
The first, not entirely specific to a Leopard upgrade, is that it requires a lot of hard drive space for the archive. Even if one has the space available, afterwards the drive may be so close to full that OS X becomes unstable because of lack of space for its temporary working files. This is especially true if the "Preserve Users and Network Settings" option is not used, because existing home folders & much more are moved into the Previous System folder rather than being preserved in place. Following the procedure in How to get files from a previous home directory after Archive and Install (Article #107297) requires still more space for the image file, & this could trigger this problem for users with nearly full drives.
The second factor is that the "Preserve Users and Network Settings" option actually preserves much more than the name implies, as explained in the last sections of the "About the Archive and Install feature" article Barry provided a link to. (Note the number of items in /Library/ & /Private/ that contain system-wide items that are preserved.) Since some of these items are associated with post-install problems in starting up the new Leopard installation (e.g., SystemConfiguration items), using this default option may not solve the Leopard installation problems one hopes to correct by reinstalling the OS.
The third factor is that after an Archive and Install, you may need to reinstall some third party or even Apple pro applications anyway, as described in Applications don't work after reinstalling Mac OS X (article #25508), among other references. Basically, anything that is installed by an installer application (Apple's or a third party's) rather than by drag & drop may not work for a variety of reasons, like missing components that need to be installed in unusual places by the installer, or any conditional procedures or initializations that the installer script would normally handle. Because Leopard is new & in some ways quite different from earlier OS versions, it can be difficult for users to distinguish between problems caused by this & by other factors, like its change in default group ownership that affect some (most?) migrated user accounts, basic application incompatibility with the new OS version, & so on. This can lead to a lot of wasted effort & frustration not normally encountered with an Archive and Install of a same-version OS (like Tiger over Tiger).
Some of this is touched on in Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5: About installation options (article #301270), which should help users decide which option is best for them. An Erase and Install can resolve existing issues an Archive and Install can't, & for this reason I recommend it for users who have experienced some problems with their first Leopard install attempt, whatever the method first used.
But be aware that it requires what is recommended practice for all users in all situations, that being having an up-to-date backup of at least all user data & files. Better still is a complete, bootable clone of the old installation, which can be used with Setup Assistant to selectively import varying amounts of user & other files, instead of the "all or nothing" option Archive & Install offers.

  • IOS 5.0.1 upgrade, devices hangs in shuffle mode

Hello, I have an original iPad and the newest iPod touch and ever since the iOS 5.0.1 upgrade, both devices hang after a while when playing either all songs or a playlist in shuffle mode. It gets to a point where the song playing doesnt match the song displayed then on the next song it hangs. At this point I have to close iTunes and start over. Sometimes it hangs after a few songs and sometimes after 30-40 minutes.
This has made shuffle mode unusable ( which is what I primarily use). It never did this prior to 5.0.1.   Thoughts?

I did the back-up / restore option all from within iTunes. Still no problems so that appears to be the fix until Apple recognizes it and puts out a fix.

  • Post Upgrade - autodialing issues

A few days ago I completed the software update and I have found that now, whenever I close my bb case (wallet style case), my phone autodials my voicemail line and/or a random number through the keypad screen.  Even if I purposely close my phone on any other screen to avoid this happening.  I estimate that this occurs about 50% of the time. Annoying and potentially embarassing.
    Any suggestions?  Thank you!

    Hi,
we hade the same problem in a project which we upgraded to 2013 using
    Upgrade-SPSite http://website/sites/test -VersionUpgrade
The problem seemed to be a custom ghosted page layout which we had. Newly created site collections worked fine.
I tried with the newly added attribute ReplaceContent, e.g. <File... Type="GhostableInLibrary" ReplaceContent="TRUE">, in the elements.xml/module for the page layout and tried reactivating the corresponding page layouts
feature. After that the pages using the page layout now works again. The customization of the pages seems to be intact as well.
Hope this helps you in the future even if the question was asked one year ago.
PS. This also is useful when provisioning webparts with AllUsersWebpart since this solves any need for any custom "duplicate webparts fix"-code DS.
