Upgrade standalone Lightroom 5.2 to 5.3 fails

Hello,
I have standalone LightRoom 5.2 installed (together with standalond Photoshop CS6).
I'm trying to upgrade to 5.3 after the standalone download but I get the same error as I've read in the forum during an upgrade via CC.
The message about a missing resource on a network resource shows up everytime.
It points to the 'Adobe_Lightroom_x64.msi' in a non-existent folder that looks like a registry key ( like i.e.: C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Temp\{B6AE23A1-164E-4A00-A62D-75A9782F4B1E}).
When I point to the "real" folder where the file is located in then after a while the installers says that this installation file is not valid for LightRoom 5.2...
It also says that OLDER version 5.3 can not be removed (????)
However I'm installing 5.3.
I don't get it and this looks as a big mix-up...
Can you please help me find the solution to this?
If the solution is to uninstall 5.2 first then I want to be sure that all settings and catalogs are retained...
Thanks a lot for your help....
Karel Claessens

Jeff,  thanks for your feedback BUT...
I don't have CC installed so I don't use it.
the error does not seem the same as the one mentioned in the KB.
My instalation, both windows and LR are both in English.
So I expect this to be caused by another issue.
I also asked if I was to install my LR 5.2 would all settings and catalogs be preserved....
Thanks for your time.

I have just upgraded from Lightroom 5 standalone to Lightroom 6 standalone. I appear to have been automatically enrolled for a 30 day free trial of Lightroom Mobile and Creative Cloud. Reading the FAQ, it appears that after the expiry of the free trial, if I do not sign up and pay, I will only be able to view my pictures on the desktop but not edit them - surely this cannot be true. How do I un-enroll for the 30 day free trial of Lightroom Mobile and CC?

When I was signed into Adobe (which was a requirement for installing the upgrade), Lightroom 6 told my at the top right corner that I had 30 days left of my free trial of Lightroom Mobile and Creative Cloud. In parallel with this forum posting, I am chatting with Adobe support. he is away to find out how to prevent any synching with Creative Cloud during the 30 day free trial. I do not think that Creative Cloud is an application that gets installed on your PC. I think Lightroom 6 has it built in, and can use it if if you are signed up to the Creative Cloud and Lightroom Mobile (which I am for 30 days)

  • Upgrade standalone copy of Lightroom instead of creative cloud?

I have been an active user of Lightroom for a while, I am a hobbyist(non-professional) photographer.
I own a copy of Lightroom version 3.
When I bought my Nikon D610. I found that I have to upgrade to Lightroom version 5.x
But I was shocked to see that, there is practically no way for me to buy(upgrade) a standalone copy of Lightroom.
Where ever I go it brings me back to that subscription buy page.
Would some one point me whether I can still buy a standalone version of Lightroom and not subscription(I hate them honestly)
If there is no way, then I have to search for alternatives to Lightroom.
Sadly, I still love Lightroom badly I don't wanna miss it.

At the bottom of Lr/cloud page, click on 'Products'.

  • Where to upgrade to standalone lightroom 6

Where does one go to do the upgrade from standalone lightroom  5 to version 6?  I cannot find an upgrade l ink anywhere.  Thanks for your help.  Gary

Make sure you're not logged into adobe.com.
    Go to the Lightroom page.
All the way on the bottom right is a buy link for the standalone version.
Add it to your cart like you're going to buy the full version.
In your cart select modify and change the purchase to an upgrade.

I am using lightroom 5 and would like to upgrade to lightroom 6. I am not interested in the subscription based craetive cloud model. The website keeps pushing me to the subscription based model. Can someone guide me on how to just upgrade from 5 to 6 (desktop version and not the cloud subscription version)?

    Hello,
there are informations about your interests here: http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-lightroom-6-cc-direct-download-links.html >>> See: Importantly, this new version continues as a downloadable desktop product and is available either with a standalone perpetual license (called Lightroom 6) or via subscription (called Lightroom CC). It’s the same exact program and free trial download below, but the name is changed to reflect the differences in licensing and bundling, as well as the addition of integrated mobile apps & services and future feature updates.
From there you will find a download link.

  • I purchased an upgrade standalone version of LR and yet the app indicates I have a trial version and I must remain logged into my account. It looks like I was given the CC version. Yes?

I spoke with a sales person requesting the upgrade standalone version of LR 6.0 - NOT the CC version. I received the email, clicked the link and downloaded LR. After installing LR, a message on the main screen indicates I have so many to register my application even though I entered my new license number AND I must remain logged into my Adobe account or LR will be deactivated. It looks like I was given the CC version any way. Is this true? or am I missing something?

  • I wanted to upgrade my lightroom 5 to 6

I wanted to upgrade my lightroom 5 to 6 then realised I could only upgrade with Cloud!  Installed and then uninstalled now my Lightroom 5 doesn't recognise my cameras when I upload?  Frustrated!  Lightroom 5 is now not as I had it before!!

There is a standalone Lightroom 6 you can upgrade to.
Go to Products, scroll down to Lightroom 6, click on Buy, change "Full" to "Upgrade".
What do you mean "Lightroom 5 doesn't recognise my cameras when I upload?"

Hi,  I've just purchased and installed an upgrade from Lightroom 4 to 5.  It doesn't seem to handle raw files authored with a new Nikon D750 camera.  I spoke to the sales rep about this and he gave me a link to the 8.6 DNG converter page with instructions to download.  8.6 only works with Mac OS 10.7-10.9, according to the page.  I'm running Yosemite, Mac 10.10.  Please can you tell me my options?  Lightroom 4 worked beautifully with my older cameras' raw files so I would like to continue using the application.  What should I do?  How soon will Lightroom 5 be able to deal with raw files from a D750.  Many thanks, Adam.

Until the next version of Lightroom is released, you need to use the DNG Converter version 8.7RC to convert your RAW photos to DNG and then import the DNGs into Lightroom.

I have been using a Lightroom 5 including recent upgrades on my Mac Pro laptop for the past 1 year. This was purchased as an upgrade from Lightroom 4 for which I have a serial number. Today I purchased a new Macbook pro and loaded my Lightroom 5 however it is asking for my serial number which I have misplaced. I am unable to trace my serial number anywhere. I have even checked my adobe membership to locate my serial number but it does not seem to have any record which is strange as I have been using this software for over a year now and the previous versions since 2009. Could someone help me in my predicament.

  • I want to upgrade to Lightroom 5, but I'm concerned about compatibility with my 2008 intel Core 2 Duo iMac with only 4G of Ram.  Will I be able to run Lighroom 5 if I upgrade from Snow Leopard to Lion?

I want to upgrade to Lightroom 5, but I'm concerned about compatibility with my 2008 intel Core 2 Duo iMac with only 4G of Ram.  Will I be able to run Lightroom 5 okay if I upgrade from Snow Leopard to Lion?  What will happen to the applications that aren't 64-bit compatible?  Also the Eye-one Display 2 colorimeter to calibrate the monitor will not run on Lion, so that will be an expensive upgrade to an i1DisplayPro. Is the upgrade important enough to offset the expense?  I have an Epson R2000 printer.  Will there be problems with the drivers if I upgrade to Lion?  It would be great to hear from other mac users who are also photographers and who print their own photos.

Before upgrading to Lion be sure to read this link:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6271
    Adobe lists these requirements:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom/tech-specs.html
Looking at http://www.everymac.com/ even the earliest 2008 iMac was fully 64 bit, even though Boot Camp doesn't support 64 bit Windows on that machine.
