  • Can't Upgrade or Uninstall Lightroom 1.0 on WinXP

When I try to upgrade to 1.1 the installation stops about halfway through the progress bar after clicking the "Install" button...
... during "Removing applications" I am prompted with a dialog box asking for the "Use source:"
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder container the installation package 'Adobe Photoshop Lightroom.msi' in the box below."
It's trying to find it in my c:\temp folder... which MIGHT have been the location I originally installed the software from since I downloaded it from the web as version 1.0 while waiting for my CD with serial number to arrive.
So I pop in my LR1.0 cd and point it to the Adobe Photoshop Lightroom.msi and it says .. nope.... not valid.
Then it'll tell me it can't be removed and it can't be installed.
So now here I am deciding between gutting Lightroom out of the system manually via the registry -- or asking for some more help... anybody dealt this this? The support forums come up empty on this issue...
    Help is appreciated. Thx.

    Ryan,
Since I could not find any clues on how to fix this problem, I decided to remove all the lightroom files from the "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom" folder and delete that lightroom folder. Then I used regedit to remove all entries that mentioned "lightroom" (make sure to uncheck the "match all string only" box in the search dialog in regedit. Then I ran RegClean to remove any orphan registry entry. I also made sure to save the lightroom database (.lrdb) file to another place.
After that the stupid lightroom 1.1 installer was happy to install it, found my database, updated it and when I started lightroom 1.1 it took me to the last file I was looking at with version 1.0
    Hope this helps,
    Marc

  • Firefox won't open after update/upgrade--how do I correct this?WinXP SP3

I got a message saying I should update/upgrade. I did AFTER SETTING RESTORE POINT. After this Firefox will not open (I have tried several ways). I went to restore point and restored. Still will not open. If I can't get it working I will look for another browser. I am now using IE and it is too slow. Thanks for help.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

is there any chance to upgrade from NT to XP, or can i just install any bootable XP version on my 4600? or does a special XP version for satellite pro 4600 with all the required drivers exist???

    Hi!
I don't know anything about some SPECIAL version of WinXP for yr notebook, but it is possible just upgrade yr NT upto XP. Besides, WinXP has very powerful drivers database, which covers most of devices. There is only one "but": some special features (functional buttons) can be not available.

Hey guys, I`ve been having the same trouble as many of you when it comes to ram.  I recently purchased an nForce board (Kn72) and laced it with toys that my budget could afford. Upon my installation of xp, that is when all hell broke lose, Crash,Crash,Crash, and random reboots. It did not matter if I were gaming or just downloading avi`s my setup was so unstable I could not even boot to the desktop without a random reboot. I began to convince myself that BSODs were just a fact of life, however this is not the case. Here is the bottom line: In order to get past the random reboots and BSODs and have a stable and reliable system, all you need is high quality RAM!!!!!  Samsung, Corsair, or OCZ. After upgrading to 2 sticks of Samsung Ram I ditched the old 2 elixir sticks (actually, I gave them to a friend who is now experincing the same trouble with his E-Machine (which never had troubles until I gave him the ram(LMAO)). It has been two months and counting and still not a single crash, random reboot, or BSOD. Furthermore, until the upgrade, I was never able to enable the high performance DDR Timings without a lock-up, a thing of the past now, hope this helps someone.

  • Datasocket error when network cable unplugged

    Hi,
I'm having problems with my datasockets.  I have applications running on multiple computers, which publish data to a datasocket on the localhost.  Whenever we unplug a network cable, or the network goes down, the datasocket write function reports the following error code:  -2147014843 in Datasocket Write.
I can't find any information about this datasocket error code.  Can anyone give me advice on how to find more information about this error code?
The result is that whenever there is a network issue, we need to go and resolve it, then we need to log onto each computer (25+) to get the datasockets working again.
Also interesting to note is this problem has only presented itself since upgrading the computers from NT to Win2k & WinXP.
Thanks for any help that can be given.
    Slade Squire

    Hi again,
Just in case anybody else looks here, and have a similar problem...
The error code we saw was related to the networking functions of Windows.  In particular, the reason we did not see this problem in Windows NT, but it started appearing in 2000/XP, is the media sense functionality of Windows 2000/XP.  In 2000/XP, if there is no connection detected, the OS dumps the IP stack, and with it, the IP address.  As a result, when we try to write to a datasocket on the computers IP address, Windows returns an error, since there is no IP address anymore.
To resolve this issue, we turned off Media Sense on the affected computers.  We followed the instructions on this page:
    http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_tutorials/Disable-Media-Sense-TCPIP-Windows-XP.html
Now, when the network drops out, we keep the same IP address, and so the datasocket can continue to write to the local computer, without any problems.
    Regards,

  • CR XI SP4

So far I have been using CR XI Release 2 SP2 on Windows XP. My co-developer uses Vista and has upgraded to CR XI SP4 to solve an issue.
For compatibility reasons I have upgraded to SP4 as well (still running WinXP). I can open and modify reports (created in SP2) in the designer. But whenever I try to preview the report, a popup window opens saying that Crystal Reports XI Release 2 is being configured. After a while I am prompted to specify the location for the file CrystalReports.msi. It suggests a location in a temporary folder in Documents and Settings, but this temp-folder does not exist. The only option left is to cancel the operation, resulting in a message that the data can't be loaded.
The reports are designed in SP2 using text field definitions. I don't see this option in the database expert of SP4. Trying to verify the database the same dialog as mentioned before appears. Cancelling this operation gives a message that the databaseconnector crdb_fielddef.dll cannot be loaded.
I assume both issues are related to each other.
Any suggestions on how to solve this problem are appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Jos

    Update:
I have modified one of the reports in that it doesn't use text field definitions anymore, but a table definition (in MS Access). Now I can preview the report without any problem in the designer. My conclusion is, that the missing crdb_fielddef.dll file is indeed causing the problem.
Is the use of text field definitions no longer supported in SP4? I assume it is not, but what can I do to get that functionality back?

  • JDeveloper 9.0.3

I'm having some strange problems since upgrading from 9.0.2 running on WinXP. When I test applications, I am getting all kinds of crazy JBO errors that I never received before. Once I get one, every page that acccess a datasource will return an error, no matter what it's doing. I never had this problem with 9.0.2. I've even tried creating an entire new project in 9.0.3 and get the same problem. There is one browse page that opens up completely, and then shuts the browser down. Very strange.

    Hi Brian,
I would be interested in more information on the problem you are experiencing with strange behavior around primary keys after an upgrade.
A few questions if I may.
Aside from the code not working, what are the symptoms of the entity "losing" its primary key?
What database and jdbc drivers are you using?
What jdev version were you using before the upgrade and what did you upgrade to?
    Thanks,
    Pete
    George
I was able to resolve both of my problems, so far anyway.
    1) Browser shutting down after loading UIX JSP page.
This sounds crazy, but all I had to do was rename the file. Originally it was called "AdsView1_Browse.jsp" as created by the Wizard. I renamed it "AdView1_Browse.jsp" and it worked great. I did some testing and JSP files starting with "Ads" seemed to cause the problem. I didn't see anything in the documentation about that being a no-no. Bug?
    2) Strange JBO errors appearing after upgrade to 9.0.3. This took longer to resolve than if I just double checked everything. For some reason, the BC4J Wizards ignored the PK values set in the database and decided to assign RowKey as the PK. This was causing my errors. Once I found this, and changed them to be correct PK, all was well. Interesting point, I did the Synchronize with database, and it identified this problem, I told it to fix it, it said it did. It didn't. I manually corrected. On a whim, ran Synchronize again, all was well. Manually set the wrong PK, ran synchronize again, identified problem, told to correct, it did, and this time it made the correction itself. Are the Wizards doing funky things?

  • CRXI SP4 won't install

    Post Author: John MacFall
    CA Forum: Upgrading and Licensing
Using CRXI Pro on WinXP Pro SP2; single license, single computer. Tried to install SP4 but it quit right after creating backup files. Followed the advice of someone here and let the program create it's own InstallShield. The installation completed with the offer to restart services, which I did. The problem is that the version number I see in About CRXI is not correct for SP4. The version number should be 11.0.102.8004 but mine shows 11.0.0.2495. Any ideas you may have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Lyssa. I don't think it would be a dirty optical drive (but not sure) because it loads where I can activate the Disc Utility from the Install Disc. The problem Macbook (white 2 years old) has firewire but my new Macbook (silver a few months old) does not have firewire. I do have my "silver" Macbook backed up to an external USB hard drive via Time Machine. I was able to connect the USB drive to the "white" Macbook and run my version of Leopard and all my programs and documents were also working on the "white" Macbook. Once I disconnected the USB external drive I had nothing on the "white" Macbook.
    1. I know the Install Disc is good.
    2. The "white" Macbook's optical drive reads the Install Disc.
    3. The "white" Macbook reads and functions with an external USB drive.
    4. The "white" Macbook has a brand new hard drive.
HELP lol - this is frustrating to say the least.

  • ITunes 6.0.2.23 don't support Photoshop Elements 3.0 Albums

After updating to iTunes 6.0.2 I was no longer able to select albums from Photoshop Elements 3.0 to sync with my iPod.
After uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling 6.0.1 the albums is found without problems.

    Hello,
I recently upgraded to iTunes 6.0.2.23 (WinXP Pro SP2) and now find that artowrk that I have scanned does not import.
I use Photoshop 6 to make decent JPEG scans, sampled down to 500x500 pixels which I typically add manually after ripping the specific CD.
I have used various programs (e.g. iTunes Art Importer) that took images from Amazon.com, but often found no images, wrong images or scrappy scanned images..... anyway, enough to bite the bullet and do my own scans which are much better.
Anyway, the previous iTunes version, 6.0.0.18, and earlier showed no such problems.
I have confirmed the scans are good and can open in any program that supports the image format (Photoshop, PowerPoint, Word, ACDSee, Paint etc)
I have also tried saving images as PNG and this also fails to import.
The issue is as follows... I select a track and do a Get Info > Artwork tab > Add...
This brings up a browse window and I scan for the appropriate image, which is selected and OK'd but other than a "blue" halo border which I get when I'm back in the Artwork tab, no image is imported. Its just blank.
My current work around, is to open the scanned artwork back in Photoshop, copy it (to Windows clipboard) and then switch back to iTunes and then use a right click to Paste (which is now enabled) the art work into the track.
This works, so I then select "next" and repeat the paste operation for the given number of tracks on the album.
Nothing I do in Photoshop has changed, I can see 100's of earlier scanned CD covers I have amassed.
Now for the spanner.... If I go to an earlier album in my collection (iTunes 6.0.0.18 or earlier) which already has artwork per track, I can also not at the scans I have done today (even though the JPEGs are OK in other apps).
However, if I look at my latest imports/rips of today (since using iTune 6.0.2.23) and look to add artwork, I can add images of earlier albums that I have scanned !?!?
This seems very strange behaviour, but nonetheless, it seems to be with this version of iTunes 6.0.2.23
No inclination to revert back to 6.0.0.18 as this seems a real problem and I trust the folks at Apple will investigate and update iTunes.

  • Adobe installer helper will not work

(Had to create a new forum account to get back on here). Anyway, my Firefox add-ons said that my Adobe Reader 9 was out of date and should be upgraded. So I've downloaded the adobe install helper but the wretched thing won't execute. Just says this program has "stopped working" then Windows fails to find a solution.
I should now explain that I've recently upgraded my Dell Vostro 410 computer from WinXP to Windows 7 Pro (32 bit). Most things are running fine, but not this Adobe installer. Anyone got any thoughts, it must have happened to others as well.
(Going off to start the Christmas dinner now!).

Hello the latest is : http://get.adobe.com/reader/ Adobe Acrobat - Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape 11.0.8.
Try to remove your old Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape "9.4.0" version from Windows - Control Panel - Uninstall a program, go from : click on the Windows icon > Control Panel > Uninstall a program > Select the Adobe Reader 9.4.0 > click Uninstall > Yes > OK.
Now try to install the new one.
    thank you

  • Mic doesn't seem to work in applications, but I can hear myself in the Mix

    Hello,
I have recently done a PC & OS upgrade.
My previous setup was on WinXp Pro (x86) with an Asus A8R-MVP (S939 with ATI/ULI chipsets) and AMD 3200+ processor. I bought my X-Fi at the same time as these components, and everything was working just fine.
Now I have upgraded to WinXp Pro x64 and an Asus P5W64 WS Pro (S775 with Intel 975X chipsets) and an Intel e6600 processor. I loaded everything up including a few games and everything seemed just fine.
... Until I decided to download TeamSpeak so that I could talk with my guildmates... I could hear them, but they couldn't hear me. The short story is that if I load the Mixer from the systray Volume panel and enable microphone playback, I can hear myself perfectly fine; which should tell me that the Mic & X-fi work.
... But if I load Teamspeak, Windows Sound Recorder, Creative's WaveStudio, etc... (anything that records), it's as if I'm muted as there is nothing there... silence.
I have tried the MSCONFIG "selecti've startup" method to uninstall and reinstall my driver CD and latest driver patch... I have downloaded and installed the latest April 2007 DirectX, I have double checked that the Mic is the selected recording source (+20db and cranked)... all with no success.
It's obvious that alot has changed around the X-FI (OS, mobo & CPU) but the problem seems to be a "software"/driver one... I'd almost have preferred that the Mixer wouldn't have let me hear my voice at all... then I could have nominated the Mic as the problem... but the mixer proves it to be good.
Why is the Mixer the only application that knows that there is sound on the mic channel to deal with?

unbelievable... the amount of RAM is the issue... I found a post (http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=soundblaster&message.id=8448) on an unrelated matter, but the user solved their issue under X64 by limiting the amount of RAM WinXP x64 was using by editing the boot.ini file.
The basis of the "trick" is to add " /maxmem=4096" to the end of your OS line, but I elected to copy the line and add it to a new entry so I could easily select which "mode" i wanted at boot.... like so...
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition()\WINDOWS="Window s XP Professional x64 Edition" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition()\WINDOWS="Window s XP Professional x64 Edition - X-Fi tweak" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /maxmem=4096
amazingly this solved my issue... but now my system properties only report 2Gb instead of 4Gb... unacceptable!
When Can I expect a fix for this Creative?

  • Outcome of Leopard Install With Existing Bootcamp

To clarify this particular configuration, Bootcamp/WinXP is on a separate internal hard drive in a Mac Pro Quad, not a partition (I have a MBPro with the partition scenario, and I'm a little timid to try that yet - cannot afford to lose that WinXP partition...)
BEFORE doing the Leopard upgrade on the Mac side, booted into WinXP, popped in the Leopard disc, and it immediately asked to install Bootcamp (it didn't say drivers specifically, so I was a tad nervous, but I said yes and let it complete).
Rebooted back into WinXP - could tell the boot completed successfully, but had no video on the Cinema Display (23") - powered off, rebooted once again into WinXP, and the display was at 640x480 - ATI Radeon X1900 driver on Leopard disc must be corrupt or something - downloaded and installed current X1900 from ATI web site - rebooted back into WinXP - all seems to be fine - have tried a few games/programs without incident.
Then I rebooted back into Mac, popped in the Leopard disc, and proceeded to do an "upgrade" install without incident. Have also tried a number of programs there, and all seems to be fine.
Then I did multiple reboots into both Leopard and WinXP without any difficulties.
Hope this may be of help to someone.
If anyone has accomplished the same kind of upgrade with WinXP on an existing partition, sure like to hear about it.

I just finished upgrading two of my machines yesterday night, my MacMini and my MacbookPro. The Mini has bootcamp with XP installed. I did a normal upgrade of Mac OSx and didn't think about what was going to happen to XP partition. Luckily I was able to launch WinXP and installed the new Bootcamp drivers from the Leopard disc.
The only problems I have noticed is that it seems to take much longer to display the boot options screen for MAC or Windows. Not sure why, but it definitely added at least 5-10 seconds of waiting before the screen came up. It was easily double the wait and I at first thought the it wouldn't work at all. Once in Windows I noticed that many of the devices had now been duplicated with either the same driver or the new Leopard ones that were different than the Bootcamp beta disc.
I was able to clean a lot of this up by removing duplicate devices and then re-scanning for hardware changes, but some are still there such as showing two of the same monitor. But XP has seemed to be working fine so far, so no complaints.

  • FF 3.6.13 not rendering css horizontal parameters correctly in one Profile but DOES in another (second account on same machine).

This one's got me completely stumped. Web site coding is "fluid", not fixed width. Screen resolution is 1024px x 768 but the maximum width shown is only slighly over 900px, which of course renders the site's header incorrectly (width is approx. 950px).
The SAME site, when viewed within another user account on this machine, renders properly... As it was designed, with no problem. Renders properly in other browsers AND FF3.6.13 on two different Ubuntu boxes.
This problem began well AFTER the initial update/upgrade to 3.6.13 on a WinXP box... Was working just fine up until today.
Is there a setting within the "Profile" that needs to change?
CSS file validates - HTML Validates - limited javascript - PHP Pages - Cache cleared
I have the Very Same page on a L.A.M.P. server (intrAnet server) used for development and it renders PERFECTLY (in ALL browsers).
Since this problem just began, and other sites and other users on this machine have no problem, it seems logical the problem may lie in my "Profile" settings... Need Some Direction
    Thanks in advance!

    From my original message:
'''''(i.e. when I double-click a PNG file in Windows Explorer, it opens in the Microsoft RAW Image Viewer... I got the desired command from the File Types tab in Windows Explorer's Tools->Folder Options).'''''
So, apparently either english is not your first language, or you didn't bother reading my post and answered strictly by the Subject... Because the "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" (as it was formerly called; now it's called the '''Microsoft RAW Image Viewer''') is '''already''' the default viewer for PNG files in Windows. See attached image.
    Thanks.
