Upgrade to 10.1.2 audio ruined

After an automatic upgrade to 10.1.2 the audio in my timeline has been ruined. It's OK in the original clip. Creating a new timeline and re entering the clips did not help.

Well I see the same ghosting in the browser where the clips play well so I guess that's not important.
Something happens when the clip goes from the browser to the timeline and it happens to all my video and even with
new timelines.
The precipitating event was the upgrade to 10.1.2.
Can I go back to 10.1.1?
Should I try the backed up data?

Since I upgraded to QuickTime 7.1 & 7.1.2, It has taken a full week to produce a 45min. video using iMovie and iDVD
This is the first time I've used the new iLife to create a movie or DVD.
Usually I use Final Cut Pro to edit but since the last upgrade of FCP, I have been unable to capture video from my Sony DCR-TRV 103 cameras (no longer supported, Great!). Since I have over 300 tapes archived in this format I am discouraged and have had to resort to using iMovie which ironically has no problem capturing from these cameras but takes days to render (seriously), and iDVD simply stalls when it gets to compressing audio. I tried converting the files to DV in QT ( 16hrs.) but that didn't help. My system used to work marvelously, but since the "upgrades" I can't get anything out.
This is really broke, and it's killing me and my business.
I could kick myself for being enticed to change.
HELP! ?

There is an incompatibility between QT 7.1.2 and OS10.3.9. (I have reported this to Apple, as I'm sure others have, but so far no cure).

however I downgraded to 7.0.4 because I couldn't burn DVDs with 7.1.2, but I still couldn't burn them (even though it was OK with 7.0.4 earlier before I upgraded).
If the downgrade process described in this site doesn't work for you you may find that your only answer is to upgrade to Tiger (10.4.7).

Firmware upgrade to 7.6 causes audio jumps

I've just updated my two Airport express boxes to firmware 7.6.
Now every few seconds there is a jump or glitch playing audio that sounds like a buffer overflowing causing data loss.
I've tried unplugging & restarting them both without success. One is hardwired, the other linked by wireless and i'm playing from iTunes 10.5.0.142.
Has anyone else found this?

Just a guess, but it would explain the behavior you're describing... After I upgraded to 7.6 I noticed that the router was repeatedly dropping and re-establishing connections. You can look at the router log by double clicking on your express in the airport utility and selcting Advanced > Logs and Statistics. If you see a regular pattern of "Disassociated with station..." and "Associated with station..." messages the same thing is happening to you.
The only way I found to correct this was to downgrade back to 7.5.2. You can do this by highlighting your express in the airport utility and select Basestation > Upload Firmware from the menu bar (upper left side of your screen). You'll then be prompted for the version of firmware to upload. Select 7.5.2.

Upgrade to snow leopard, no audio is muted on macbook pro!

Upgraded to snow leopard at work on my macbok pro (non unibody), did the 10.6.2 update. When i took my laptop home, realized that my audio is muted. After some googling, followed others posts and deleted 2 pref files within "Prefs > audio", rebooted, and same ol'.
When i returned to work today, audio worked fine. Now, i'm home again, and audio is muted! Power source plugged in, in both cases, but run wireless at home. (wasn't connected yet when i has problem 2nd time).
Any ideas?!

Upgrade the G4 733Ghz Digital Audio

I have a G4 733Mhz Digital Audio and I wanna add what ever I can to it to increase the performance. I know these things won't increase the performance but just to let you know what I have added....I just bought an extra 3 port firewire pci card and a 5 port usb 2.0 pci card they work great I also have 1.25 GB of Ram (Max is 1.5GB)
what else can I do with it? as far as graphics card if I need it or not? and if so which one?

Hi Paul-
Your G4 is a 4x AGP. You can only use a 4x AGP compatible graphics card. The 8x AGP will not work, unless, like the ATI Radeon 9800, it is 2x, 4x, 8x compatible.
The FX5200 is an 8x card, so, unfortunately, you won't be able to use it in the G4.
As far as upgrade suggestions, a new ATI Radeon 9800 Mac Pro, a used ATI Radeon 9000 Mac Pro (eBay), a flashed (PC ver. converted to Mac) Ati Radeon 9800 Pro(eBay, Strangedogs), or a flashed GeForce(eBay, Strangedogs).

Recorded Audio Ruined by conforming when importing outside audio.

I've been having an issue where I record a commentary for a gameplay, and the audio comes out perfect when sampled at 48000hz, but then if I try to import some outside mp3s for sound effects, it changes the pitch of my voice and the other audio is imported at its regular pitch. How can I reverse this so that if anything, my gameplay commentary is not ruined?

Welcome to the forum.
One thought would be to convert those MP3 SFX files to PCM/WAV @ 48KHz 16-bit.
For any MP3 music files, I do that as part of my normal workflow. However, I have several collections of SFX files in MP3, that have never caused an issue - those, I just use in their supplied MP3 format. However, other collections might not work so perfectly, and MP3's, in general, CAN cause issues.
Hope that helps, and I would try converting just a very few and testing.

If the 4th Gen won't get iOS 7, would it be at least possible to upgrade to the new "FaceTime Audio"?

There is no way to know unless Apple announces.
Thre is not reason ot believe that this will happen.

After Windows 10 upgrade Mic Conexant 20671 smart audio HD not working

I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7. After upgrade, the audio failed - both Recorder (Mic) as well as Player (speaker) where not working and device was not recongnized in Skype I then got to know (after some internet searching) that Lenovo has released new driver for Windows 8.1 and 10. I downloaded the same (from lenovo site) and installed them in c:\Drivers\Audio . After the installation I followed the automatic installation. However it fails telling Device is not installed. I have also tried to upgrade the software from Device manager. Here it says all softwares are upto date. However mic device driver 10.0.10240.16384 - the date stamp is of today. Under the sound, video , game controller section in the Devce Manager- the device driver for Conexant 20671 is older. This device driver software is not getting upgraded, says all software are upto date. Any pointer to resolve the mic issue is welcome!

Don't know your location but two vendors that I highly recommend are

And Crucial http://www.crucial.com
I would most certainly purchase any ram from either of them and search for the best deal I could find for a hard drive! but I'm not sure your confident enough to do that on your own. If that's the case both have excellent customer service and will help you make the right choices.

Windows 8 upgrade problems (touch screen and audio)

Here are a few tips that might help you to get your touch screen working:
Activate Windows and install updates by pressing the Windows logo key + W. Type "Activate Windows" into the search field, and then click on the Activate Windows icon that appears in the upper left corner of the screen. In PC Settings, click on Activate Windows, wait for your computer to connect to Microsoft, and then follow the onscreen instructions. Restart the computer. Press the Windows logo key + X, and select Control Panel from the menu. In the upper right corner of Control Panel, select Large Icons from the View by drop down. Click Windows Update. Install touch and/or graphics driver updates. Restart the computer.
Another thing to try: Go to the HP Support and Drivers site and click Drivers and Software. In the search field, enter your product name or number, and then click Next. Select your operating system from the drop-down, and then click next. (If you don't know if your operating system is 32- or 64-bit, press the Windows logo + X key again and select System from the menu.) Follow the onscreen directions to install any appropriate drivers. Restart the computer.
If the touch still doesn't work, try this: Press press the Windows logo + X key, and select Device Manager from the menu. In Device Manager, click the little triangle next to Display Adapters to expand the list. Right-click on the graphics card and select Disable. When asked if you want to disable the card, click yes. Restart the computer. You may have to tinker with your screen resolution.

ITunes 5 upgrade hosed a lot of audio files

Upgrading to iTunes 5 hosed quite a few files that were working in iTunes 4. Almost all the Griffin radio id's got hosed and a lot of music as well--maybe 1-2% or less but that's still a lot. All these files still exist on my iPod--is there any way to return them to my iTunes 5 library?

doh!!!! ok--I just got it--thanks--I'll check it out.--just tried to download the app but there seems to be a problem with their server--so far the download dialog is showing 7+ hours for downloading a 3.2 mb file and yes I'm on dsl. Thanks anyway--Willy

Upgrade to 6.1.1 has ruined wifi!

So I got the text from Vodafone that I need to upgrade to 6.1.1 so I did.
I never had battery issues, but now my battery is draining probably 50% quicker.
And I cannot use wifi at all, when I tap wifi in the settings, the on/off slider is greyed out so you can't turn wifi on or off.
I've done system restores, system resets (home button and off button) and haven't had any luck.
When I upgraded to ios6 i had the same wifi issue, and a simple system reset (home and off button together) sorted it.
Should I go to the Apple store? Or wait? As Im quite annoyed really.
Any help would be great

One thing I noticied is that you don't mention changing the Device Defaults
on the Pub/Subs prior to restarting the TFTP service. There are some good references
for this in the attached .pdf.

Sony Docking station will no longer play audio on Alarm after ios 7 upgrade

I have read through many of the community postings and hate to have to start a new question when there are over 90,000 that have viewed or commented on this same type issue, but I have tried all the suggestions from community users and they work for a test, but then when you set the alarm for the next day, it flashes and no audio. Why is it that Apple is ignoring this huge customer dissatifaction and why is it that they can do this to the users? I read in one stream that they inserted a software to block any "Non-Apple" product from working with their new software. I have 3 phones in this house that have not been upgraded and they work fine. The two that I upgraded will NOT play the audio. The light will flash as if it triggered the alarm, but nothing triggers the iTunes to play. Originally Apple said it was my Sony device. Wrong! So then they said it was iTunes because they iTunes Radio was in the first/primary slot now and I had not signed up or created a Radio station. They did show me how to go into More options and change the priority to place my own music and playlist in the primary and get rid of the iTunes radio and it worked. Next day it didn't. Then I read that if you plug into an Apple peripherial and then a Non-Apple device, it will again shutdown. So I have started doing the Shutdown step every night when placing it on the docking station, never knowing if the Alarm will play/sound at 4:50 or not. Needless to say, I am NOT getting any sleep as I watch the minutes tick towards the waking hour anxiously waiting to see if the phone Will or Will not wake me. I have also seen people mention removing the "SoundCloud" What the heck is that and how do you do it?

In my Sync vehicle, I had to "forget" the SYnc connection in the iPhone Bluetooth settings, then go into the car menu and delete the bluetooth device from the vehicle's system. Once I re-paired from scratch, it has been working fine. Give that a try. If not, try removing the connection from both sides again, then Reset Network Settings from the General Settings before re-pairing.
