Upgrade to 12.2 from 11.3 - master.* file deploy still an option?

Hi,
Thinking of upgrading Documaker Studio from 11.3 to 12.2 SE.
Currently use the old master.* and lbylog.* filesystem for development and QA in DM 11.3.
I would like to keep using the flat file MRL system, but I believe I read that DM Studio 12.1+ now requires a db.
Just wanted to see if there were any alternatives and if adding a db could be isolated to just forms development purposes and not for the eventual single-step transaction processing in QA through IDS 2.5/DM 12.2.
My question is: If I develop forms in 12.2 using an SQL (or other) db, would I still be able to extract flat files (master.*) from the DEV MRL, drop them into the deflib in the QA MRL and have transactions processed through the QA IDS 2.5/DM 12.2 instance to produce output without the need for a db similar to DEV?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

We have upgraded to 12.1p2, but 12.2 should do the same in that when you upgrade you can still use the CB5 library.  It is only when you try to create a new library that you do not have the option to create a CB5 library.  Hope this helps.

  • Resource role information from shared resource pool file to a master project file

    Hi,
I am using Microsoft Project Professional 2013. We have multiple project managers running their own projects. We are building out a PMO and are bringing all these plans into one master 'portfolio' plan.  So
we have one master plan file, subproject 1, subproject 2... and then we have setup a shared resource file where all resources are utilising the same shared pool.
This works well and in the master file we can do resource usage checks. We have also  added extra columns such as resource group which gets shown in the master file and we can filter which group (in our
case infrastructure, projects, applications etc) are consuming most resources.
The bit I am stuck on is management also wanted to report on the resource role ie which person is a project manager, business analyst etc. I have created a custom field in the shared resource plan as 'resource role' and populated as per their job role but for
some reason the info added in the shared resource file doesn't get conveyed to the master file as say the resource group does.
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks in advance

Thanks Dales for helping out.  Thats how I originally did it. Went into organizer. At first I had copied the 'Resource Role' custom field to the global template and then in the master file added the same column but nothing showing. Then tried same again
but this time copying directly to the master file but still no joy.
I am seeing 'Resource group' appear as it should. I make a change to a someones resource group in the share pool file and I see the change in the master file but not happening with the custom field resource role.

  • Saving metadata directly to master file

I have 20,000+ photos (JPEG format) in iPhoto, which I have annotated with creation dates, titles, descriptions, keywords, GPS coordinates, place names, and faces. I wish to liberate myself from iPhoto and Apple, so I would like to transfer the metadata directly into the original/master JPG files, but I want to do that without mucking around with the original images. I was told in an iPhoto discussion topic that Aperture could do this, but I could not figure out how to do it, and the guy then refused to provide instructions.
When I had to add creation dates, I always checked the "Modify original files" box, so I believe that is already in all of the master files. I also believe (and have to accept the fact) that there is no way I will ever be able to retain the place names or faces metadata. So, that leaves the titles, descriptions (captions), keywords, and GPS coordinates.
I can add all of that metadata by exporting from iPhoto, but the option that allows inclusion of metadata also insists on recompressing the image with another pass through lossy JPEG compression. At "Maximum" quality, my ~2.5 MB files balloon to ~6.7 MB (on average). At "High" quality, they remain about the same size, and I suppose it is doubtful that any loss in quality would be minor, it just seems illogical and inelegant to recompress the images just to alter the metadata in the file header. A workaround I have discovered is to do the export, then use ExifTool to extract the metadata and then write it directly to the master file headers without mucking with the image itself. If the freeware ExifTool can do this, it would be nice if iPhoto could do it.
In the other topic linked above, the guy implied that Aperture could export some, a little, a lot, or all of the metadata (whatever I wanted). I did quite a bit of testing, but I could not figure out how to do that. Does anybody here know whether that is possible? He refused to tell me, as things devolved into a meaningless argument about whether iPhoto was "recompressing" images using JPEG when exporting as a JPEG (I claim it does). If I am wrong about that, I would like to correct that.
Below are the highlights of my findings in Aperture from the other topic, which I would like to correct, as well, if I am wrong.
    Aperture Original export
Aperture Original export does not seem to alter some images, and it can embed Description and Keywords as IPTC fields. However, it substantially changed the size of some of my images (far more than could be accounted for by adding a tiny bit of metadata), so I am not sure it is really leaving all images untouched. More importantly, it does not seem to embed Title or GPS information. So, it seems like the most useless option.
    Aperture Versions export
The Aperture Versions export, unlike the Aperture Original export, does include the GPS information, but, like Aperture Original export, it does not include the Title. And, like iPhoto export, Aperture Versions export modifies the original image, albeit with much lower inflation in file size. This also seems like a relatively useless option.

    splinke wrote:
In any event, although the Aperture Original export can apparently embed Description and Keywords metadata in the original/master file when the IPTC option is selected, it does not seem capable of embedding Title or GPS coordinate metadata. So, it does not seem to be useful for my purpose. Am I missing an option somewhere to include all metadata in the export? It seems like this is my best bet, if I can just figure out how to include those other fields in the export.
When you export the original, select the metadata option  IPTC4XMP Sidecar file.
In addition to your original Image file, you'll also get an extra file ending .XMP.
This contains all the metadata you're looking for, including others such as the colour label, star rating, etc.
When you import your images to your new software, just make sure you choose software that supports reading the XMP file (it's a pretty common standard).

  • Aperture cannot locate master files when upgrading to new OS X Leopard

I have recently upgraded to Leopard from Tiger. The problem I have encountered is that when trying to locate the master files of my pictures, Aperture cannot because it thinks my files are in my hard drive located in my previous OS X and that the volume is not mounted. I cannot 'Relocate Masters for Projects' or bring my masters back online since it is the hard drive I am currently running Leopard. Does anyone else have this problem and possibly a resolution? Thank you very much.

I had a similar problem, and this how I fixed this.
Select all the files, and either select "Manage Referenced Files" from the File menu or from the contextual menu when you right click the selected files. Use the dialogue that appears to navigate to your master files [make sure that "Show only Files Not Found" is NOT selected] and reconnect your files. If you have files in a number of albums/projects/folders this may take some time.
Quit Aperture, and if a dialogue shows up saying that it is updating previews DON'T SELECT CANCEL. When you re-launch Aperture everything should be fine.

I recently upgraded my operating system from Vista to Windows 7.  Ibacked up all of my music on an external hard drive before I reformatted my computer.  I have reloaded iTunes several times and attempted to transer my files back to my computer.  Everything appears to transfer but once I remove the external hard drive I get a message stated file cannot be located.  What am I doing wrong?

I just posted a similar question -- five months later.  Did you ever find a solution?

  • Sample Applescript: scraping values from numbers files into a master file

Hi, I have programming experience in c and other languages, but am new to applescript and so am learning a lot from this forum.
My goal is to make a timesheet system for my Dad (for a bday present) where every time he helps a client, he fills out a newly created numbers file - and after a week or so, he can run a script that scrapes certain values from each numbers file and places it into a master numbers file. Then saving and closing the file.
Vince, it sounds like you've written a script that does this feature of looping through all numbers files in a folder and putting select values from each numbers file into a master numbers file (after clearing the previous values of the master file).
Specifically, I'm looking for a sample script that opens up a numbers file, clears its table, then fills this table by scraping one value from a particular cell in every numbers file in a folder.
If anyone has a similar script they would be willing to post or email to me, for me to use as a foundation and to learn from, I would be very very very grateful. My email is forman.jq at gmail dot com.

I guess that this script may be a good starting point.

I'm sorry, but Apple does not provide a downgrade path for iOS. Because downgrading is unsupported by Apple we cannot discuss it on these forums, but you can use Google to find information on how to install an older version of iOS on any iDevice.

Is this the note you are referring to:
Not sure if this can help you.
I checked my notes. They are stored here:
    MacintosHD/Users/MYHOME/Library/Containers/com.apple.notes/Data/Library/CoreData /ExternalRecords/
    xxxxxserie.of.numbers.probably.yours.are.different/IMAPNote/_records/0/
If I go tot this window on finder and enter Time Machine I can go back and find old notes...
If so, am I doing this on my new hard drive on on the time machine? When I do this on the time machine, what is "my home"? Also, I am unable to find "containers".
If I go to users/jeff/library, then I see components, compositions, contextual, etc, but not containers.

Application partitiion is what you will be upgrading from 3.1.(10 to 4.0(8).
MP - maintenance partition is supposed to be 2.1.2 or above which is the same requirement for 3.1.x so, you will be good there.
Pls. check the compatibility with the swtich code in this 4.0.8 Release Note link:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/fwsm/fwsm40/release/notes/fwsmrn40.html
Pls. check the chassis system requirement in the above link.
    commands you will need are:
    copy tftp flash:image
    copy tftp flash:asdm
falsh:image for OS and flash:asdm if you will be upgrading the asdm as well.

i wish to upgrade my macbook pro from 10.6.8 what is the best way?

If you wish to upgrade from 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) to 10.8.x (Mountain Lion), first make sure that your model meets the minimum hardware requirements (http://support.apple.com/kb/sp654) and then download ML by purchasing it from the Mac App Store.

  • I need to upgrade my MacBook Pro from 10.5.8 - where can I find Snow Leopard?

I just upgraded my iPhone to os6 and now can't get into iTunes.  Can't upgrade iTunes because I'm still on 10.5.8.  Looks like I need to upgrade to Snow Leopard, then to Lion before I can buy Mountain Lion.  I can't seem to find Snow Leopard avaiable for purchase.  Can anyone help?

    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
If you need to purchase Snow Leopard contact Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service. The price is $29.00 plus tax. You will receive physical media - DVD - by mail.
Third-party sources for Snow Leopard are:
    Snow Leopard from Amazon.com
    Snow Leopard from eBay
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store.
If you need to purchase Lion contact Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download.
Be sure your computer meets the minimum requirements:
Apple - OS X Mountain Lion - Read the technical specifications.
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
