Upgrade to 7.2 from 7.1

Question

I just got a new macbook pro with 2.4GHz (intel of course)
I had previously had a powerbook G4 (powerpc of course)
I have Logic 7.1 I need the universal crossgrade
I have read EVERY other post similar to this and I understand that I need to buy the crossgrade for $50 or something along those lines.
My problem is, WHERE DO I BUY IT?
The only purchase options I see are:
full version "Logic Pro 7.2" for $999
"Upgrade from Logic Pro 6 or Logic Platinum/Gold 5 or 6" $299
"Upgrade from Logic Express 6, 7, or Big Box" $699
I'm getting very frustrated as you can probably guess, because everyone has talked about a $50 crossgrade but all I see are the ones above.
If you know anything about this and can direct me in a certain direction, it would be a great help.

I did exactly that, three times in fact. By email, chat, and phone, I was told the same thing: no more $50 crossgrade. Having had the audacity to wait until my iMac gave up the ghost before buying an Intel MacBook to replace it, I now find myself frozen out of Apple's product line, victim to an incompatible combination of software and hardware +that Apple itself created and sold to me.+
Instead, they've inflated their asking price by more than 600% — from $49 to $299. This despite the fact that those who elect to pay this ransom will actually get less use from their upgraded L7.2 before L8 arrives than those who began using it months ago.
The bitterest irony is that no Apple representative I conversed with could even promise that we won't be charged $299 again should L8 be announced next week. The upshot is, you and I and potentially hundreds others could quite possibly end up spending $600 — two-thirds of the full retail price of Logic Pro — to get from L7.1 to 8, all in the space of a month or less.
Why Apple has chosen to treat its most loyal customers this way — customers who have, at a minimum, purchased a PPC G4 or G5 at some time in the past, a new Intel Mac sometime within the past 12 months, and at least one of Apple's own pro applications — is beyond me.
