Upgrade to 8.1.2 no sound

After upgrading to 8.1.2 I have no sound... I've done all the obvious and rebooting any suggestions?????

Hi keithfromberwick,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you noticed no sound on your iPad after a recent update. I understand as well that you have already attempted to troubleshoot the situation. Without knowing what steps you have completed, the first set of troubleshooting steps I would recommend are in the attached article. After working through these steps, if you have not done so already, please let me know if the issue continues. Also, do you have no sound only through the speaker or is there no sound through headphones either? Is there no sound at all, or only with specific applications?
If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker - Apple Support

  • After upgrading to iOS 5.1, the sound output works abnormally.

After upgrading to iOS 5.1, the sound output (the 3.5mm output) works correctly only when Apple provided headphones or certain headphones are plugged in. Others cause the iPod to produce sort of phased out sound with lots of digital, low-quality sounding artifacts. Other headphones have no problems since they work fine when plugged into my MacBook.
    Anyone having similar problems? Solutions?

Could be due to a defective headhone jack in the iPod that just coinsided with the iOS update.
However, to rule out a software cause, try the following.
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • After upgrading to iOS7 I lost all sound for my 4S except for the ring when someone calls. I can't listen to music, I don't get text or email notifications. I have tried rebooting?

Following upgrading to iOS7 I lost all sound for my 4s except for the ring when someone calls. I can't listen to music, I don't get text or email notifications. I have tried a wipe and reinstall, I've tried hard rebooting, I tried erasing all of my music and reinstalling it, I checked my Do Not Disturb, and I tried the AssistiveTouch mute button. Nothing. I can't even play music through bluetooth or headphones. Can anyone help please as its driving me mad!

I experience this problem too. I am using iPhone4 and just upgrade it to iOS7. And now I can not make outgoing call. I checked all the setting, and nothing wrong. I even replaced my sim card with the new one, still can not help.
    I read this link

  • I upgraded iTunes and now my songs sound horrible - help!

I was prompted a couple of times to upgrade the version of iTunes that I have on my computer - I upgraded at least twice (if not three times). Recently I tried listening to some of my music from my computer by selecting songs from my iTunes library and the songs sounded horrible - the songs sounded like I was listening to a scratched up CD, but I know that isn't the problem because the CDs are fine and the songs on my iPod (which were never updated after I updated the version of iTunes) are fine. What's the problem and what can I do to fix this? Thanks!

have you tried working through the suggestions from the following document?

  • Windows 8 Upgrade on Satellite P100-160 - No Sound

    Hello everyone.
    I own a Satellite P100-160 {http://www.toshiba.co.uk/discontinued-products/satellite-p100-160/}
I decided to upgrade the machine from Windows Vista to Windows 8.
The machine works o.k. apart from the fact there is no longer any sound.
It seems that windows 8 does not have the correct sound drivers.
Can anyone help me out with a solution?
The laptop is in good working order, and apart from no sound.
    Thanks
    colesdav.

Hello, thanks for your replies so far.
Just in case anyone else out there has tried to move to Windows 8 on an older laptop I will tell you
What I have tried that did NOT work.

None of the above suggestions / drivers worked.
The drivers all did install but ... no sound from the Laptop.
I accept this is an old laptop but it is in mint condition.
Here is my solution to date.
I bought a Sound Blaster X-fi Go! Pro external USB Sound card from Maplin U.K. yesterday.
It works and the sound quality is great!
I am currently using an external speaker ... but I may try to install the USB sound card inside the
Laptop and see if I can rewire the speakers ...
Here is a link to the USB Card.

By the way I have managed to upgrade 3 of my 4 laptops from Windows Vista /7 to Windows 8.
Here is what worked with comments.
Toshiba Satellite P100-160 - Vista to Windows 8. Only problem = No sound Driver.
Toshiba Satellite L300D - Vista -> Windows 7 - Windows 8. No problems at all.
    HP G62 - Windows 7 -> Windows 8. No problems seen yet.
The only machine I cannot upgrade is an HP Envy 15-1060ea due to notebook specific ATI Radeon 4830 Driver.
    Thanks

  • With the last upgrades my Firefox has lost all sound, how can I get it Back?.

I Upgraded to OpenSUSE 13.1 a few months ago. Firefox lost the ability to give me sound with Utube video's. I tried the Tumbleweed upgrade system, but it was not to my liking. So I have done a fresh install from DVD, and most of what I want is working well. Firefox is not playing sounds, where do I look to see what is missing?
    Francis Brighton

Are other applications able to play sounds? If so, are some things able to produce sound in firefox but not others? For instance, playing a youtube video versus playing an mp3 (which would be easy to test by providing a file:// link to a mp3 on your hd) versus playing a wav or ogg file.
If firefox is simply unable to play any of these things at all, you may be missing a vital plugin. If it is able to play videos for you but not the associated audio, try starting firefox from a terminal and check to see if there is any output to the terminal (on startup or when playing a audio/video file) that might be relevant.
If nothing above seems to shed any light on things, you may also want to try running ldd on it as well (in a terminal, try typing ldd $(which firefox) and look for missing libraries).

  • Why my Logic Studio 9 (upgrade) does not install Soundtrack Pro, sound effects etc..?

I just bought Logic Studio 9 (latest I suppose) upgrade version. Now I figured out that it does not allow me to install for example Soundtrack Pro, Sound Effects etc... How can I install them?
Logic Studio 8 was not installed prior to install because OS X Lion does not allow me to install logic studio 8.
What should I do now? Complete uninstall OS X and only update to OS X Leopard?

    Hi
You have either moved the Applications or re-named them. For the updaters to work the Apps must be named "Logic Pro" and "MainStage.

  • Upgraded to iTunes 6.0.5 sound now clicks and pops.

I've been using iTunes 6 happily up until yeasterday when I was prompted to upgrade to 6.0.5. I did this and now the sound of all of my purchased music is like an old scratched vinyl LP. At regular intervals there are clicks and pops in the music.
This did not happen until I upgraded. Strangely if I play the same tracks in QuickTime Player rather than in iTunes they pay without faults. I've tried changing settings to Safe Mode (waveOut only)and it makes no difference to the quality of the playback.
So, is there any way to revert to the old iTunes installation or is there a fix for 6.0.5?
FWIW, QuickTime Player isn't much of a solution since it doesn't support playlists.

just checking. have you tried working through the other possibilities (apart from the QT sound out settings) from this document?

  • Upgrade to IOS 5 gives podcast sound issues

I upgraded to IOS 5 on my IPad, but the sound of the podcasts and MP3's is now dramatically changed.  There is an echo in them that was not there before.  It is not in the original MP3's and podcasts if I play them on the computer I download them to and then sync the IPad.  Anyone seen this?

I'm having the same issue.  I think the "echo" you are hearing is a result of the podcast playing at 1/2 speed.  That is how it sounds on my iPOD touch.  But on my ipod touch I am able to adjust the playback speed (1/2, normal and 2x speed).  I have been trying to find the playback speed adjustment on the Ipad and haven't been able to.  It seems to have disappeared with the IOS 5 update.  It was there on the previous version.
I have no clue as how to fix it.

  • Upgrade to udev 177-3 caused sound issue

My upgrade to udev 177-3 resulted in sound issue. Now during kernel load as soon as udev loads it blacks out the screen for a few sec and then a I hear click noise in right speaker and and after udev is loaded I continuously get a hissing noise in one of the speaker(right). I have tried removing snd_hda_intel module and reinstalling module but it does not change anything. Interesting thing is the speaker that has the noise works when I play something. volume in the other speaker is very low and almost I can't hear anything on that. This is happening from early morning today after I upgraded to udev 177-3. Anybody experienced similarr issue or know how to solve this?
Although the upgrade went through without any error, I see following errors in errors.log

uograded to udev 178 and kernel 3.2.1-2 but I still hear noise in one speaker and no sound on the other speaker of headphone. Noise starts at the time of udev load during kernel load. Looked through many postings of forum but could not make any progress. Uninstalled pulseaudio, unloaded snd_hda_intel and reloaded but it did not make any difference... any ideas or direction?

  • I am using garageband.  May upgrade.I am looking for more sounds....

    Hi,
I am looking for more guitar sounds and software sounds (violin). Does Logic Express provide this? Is there a list of what it provides (I mean different guitar sounds and software sounds for a MIDI keyboard)
    Thanks!

Just add more sounds to GB.
"Upgrade" to Logic if you want more knobs to twist, not because you'd like a few more samples.

  • After upgrading on Yosemite my MacBook experiences sound problems

    Hi, everyone.
I have a MacBook Pro 13 with Retina Display, late 2012.
After I upgraded to Yosemite I faced a problem regarding to my speakers.
When I start to work with my Mac after it was sleeping for a few hours (after a night, for example), I simply can't control the volume of sound.
In other words, when I use F10-F12 buttons to regulate the sound, my Mac shows me a crossed circle, as I don't have speakers at all.
And the only thing helps me (except rebooting) is go to settings -> Sound -> Output volume and scroll the volume bar manually.
After these actions, the speakers are in control with buttons as well.
That is annoying and I duno how to fix it except reinstalling OSX.
The other fact I was upgrading to Yosemite from Mavericks.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi shenya,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I know issues with sound can be very frustrating and it sounds like you have done some great troubleshooting already. In this situation I would recommend resetting the PRAM on your MacBook Pro. Please use the attached article for information on completing this process.
