Upgrade to Aperture 3.1.3 lift and stamp tool only will lift

I upgraded to Aperture 3.1.3 and the lift and stamp tool will only lift adjustments. Anyone else having this issue. Everything else seems to work fine.

This is the link to another recent thread reporting problems/changes with the Lift/Stamp shortcuts after the 3.1.3 upgrade.
The problem is that once the Lift tool is activated ("o") and an Image has been selected, the cursor does not change to down-arrow stamp tool, and clicking Images does not stamp them.
Try this in Split View and let us know if it works. For some (including me) this still works in Browser View.

Lift and Stamp tool not working so well? White images!?

Here's a strange issue.
I worked on an image yesterday. Today, I want to copy the adjustments to another image in the same project. When I use the Lift and Stamp tool to copy the adjustments, the new image turns completely white. Even though I checked the adjustments and they look the same as the original one, the new image is all white.
Now the strange thing is when I adjusted another image today then used the Lift and Stamp tool, the adjustments copied over fine.
The only thing I can see which is different from the image I adjusted yesterday is that I had Aperture send that image to CS4 and I edited a TIFF which I stacked back with the original file.
I'll try to make a screencast available so you can see what's going on.
Looks like Apple's going to need to update Aperture 3 before it really comes out.

Thanks for your effort. I am stunned. Would be edifying to know what is happening! I thought it might be okay as I sometimes turn my image black after applying some change, but the black is only a temporary display problem as the image is correct the next time I go to use it; perhaps in my situation Aperture was busy generating new previews for presentation of the changes. Your white is certainly a different issue. Glad it's only an isolated incident and not happening for you on the other images.

Can you be more selesctive with teh Lift and Stamp tool?

I use the lift and stamp tool a lot. Mainly on metadata. The problem is that the metadata/adjustments come in categories. You can see all the info of the pic your lifting from, and you can choose to only lift & stamp keywords or just Iptc, Label, rating etc.
My question is, can you select one specific field from these categories?
For example right now I only want my pictures to share Caption, but keep the information of provider and content location which varies from image to image.
is this possible?

I don't want to delete any of the IPTC info.
I just want to lift Caption from IPTC and leave any other IPTC info untouched in both images (lifted and stamped)
So the image I'm lifting has a different provider from the one I want to stamp but the should all have the same caption. How can I only lift and stamp the caption?

there is no quick brush that you can do directly from the tools on the top of the screen if you're working in Full Screen mode?
In addition to the "Enhance" sliders that Frank pointed to, I see the "Saturation" in the "Brushes" Drop-down in Full-screen mode.
Only you have to set the amount of saturation first to a low value using the slider in the "Saturation" brick of the adjustment panel.
You may have to add the "Saturation" brick first to the "Adjustment" tab from "Add Adjustment > Quick Brushes > Saturation"
To add a "Saturation" brick permanently to your adjustments click the cogwheel in the Saturation brick and enable "Add to Default Set".
You can also save the setting - with the adjustment slider positioned as you want it - as an Effect:
Effects > Save as an effect.

Can't get lift and stamp tool working

I simply can't figure out how to get the lift & stamp tool going. I keep reading and re-reading the manual. I have a loop on one track with some effects on it, and want to apply the same effects (with the same levels) to a loop on a different track.
I click the clip whose effects I want to lift. The sound Palette opens up, but no properties are listed in the right of the Sound Palette box.
Any tips on what I could be doing wrong?

Update: I figured out that it only works on processed effects and not real-time effects. I see then that you're supposed to render the real-time effects as actions, but when I try to "Render to Action" the real-time effects, this option is grayed-out in the Process menu bar, so I am still unable to copy effects from the one track to another.

Your Aperture library is not deleted when you delete Aperture from the Applications folder. Neither are your settings BTW.
Do make certain your library is backed up!

Symantec need to update their Firefox add-ons so that they are compatible with Firefox 4. They have indicated that for Norton 360 they plan to release an update to Norton 360 to support Firefox 4 in early May - http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100720113635EN&ln=en_US
I do not know about the time scale for updates for other Norton products. Pending the update by Symantec, if you want to use the Norton add-ons you will need to downgrade to Firefox 3.6.
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

Rectangle and title tool only allow fixed ratio

Hi. Both the title and rectangle tool will ONLY draw in fixed ratio. I trashed the prefs. Didn't help. Is there some setting that locks it as fixed? I know in photoshop it's on the top bar, but I'm not seeing anything like that here in illustrator. Please advise how to turn this off. Thanks.

Hidden Bounding Box and Hidden Edges (they appear in the View dropdown list as Show instead of Hide) are regular troublemakers.
They may occur when Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+B and Ctrl/Cmd+H are pressed by mistake instead of other, slightly different, key combinations. Often, the right combination is pressed afterwards, and the effect goes unnoticed and is often only noticed later when the mispressing is forgotten.
The hidden Bounding Box may also be caused by preference corruption because it is a global setting.

I just upgraded to iTunes 10.2.2.12 and my Apple TV will no longer load my shared library.

On Windows 7. It was working fine right up to the point of the upgrade to iTunes 10.2.2.12. Once I upgraded and restarted my home computer, the Apple TV (Gen2) does still see the share name of my main home computer hosting the iTunes shared library listed under the 'Computers' tab ... but when I try to connect the Apple TV says 'Loading "xxxx library"' for several minutes then fails. I've tried rebooting, restarting the Bonjour service, etc., but nothing changes this behavior.
I'm really getting tired of these issues with connecting Apple TVs to my home library. I also have a Gen1 Apple TV, and iTunes can see it fine, but it won't sync any content. It's like the newer versions of Bonjour just doesn't remain 100% backward compatible. Now neither my Gen1 or Gen2 Apple TVs work with my main home library. Very frustrating as the only content I can view on either of my Apple TVs is Internet content. Apple, please, please put as much energy and attention into your software quality and compatibility testing as you do on your wonderful industrial design and human factors.

I have the same problem but not with an Apple TV. I have four machines sharing across my home network. I cannot load the library from one machine. All other libraries share correctly, including sharing to the machine with the library that won't share. Everything is up to date and I use the same virus software on all machines, without the problem on the other libraries. PLEASE HELP!!

Free upgrade to Mountain Lion didn't download and now my code will not work again!

Okay so I bought a new MacBook Pro on Sunday and as Mountain Lion has only just come out and I have just bought my notebook I qualify for the free upgrade from Lion to Mountain Lion. After filling in all the required information I recieved my redeem code and it started to download. After several failed attempts with the same error message of "Hash Mismatch" appearing I finally gave up and left it for a day or so. As I have come on to my laptop today in an attemt to download to update, I have looked everywhere in App Store (purchases, downloads) and Mountain Lion is not anywhere. I have also tried to re enter the codes but it is saying that the codes have already been used etc.
So now I am stuck and do not know what to do and I really dont want to have to pay the money to get Mountain Lion when I should be able to get it for free.
Any help you could give me would be appreciated, even if it is just an apple support number that I could call and get everything sorted out.

After you press download, check your Launchpad. The icon will show up with what looks like a white dot where you'd expect to see a progress bar. That white dot actually is the progress bar, as ML is a 4GB download and can take anywhere from 1 to 15 hours, depending on your connection speed. On the average 1.5Mbps economy connection, it will take about 7 hours to download.

This problem has been reported here a couple of times. The solution appears to be to download any new App, say a free one. This appears to resolve this problem.

Comenting and stamp tools greyed out Adobe Standard XI

We have an application where the customer needs to have at least Adobe Standard in order to open pdf's in the web browser, comment and mark them up, and save using our adobe toolbar which saves back to a server. We have users who have installed and used XI standard with no problems however this one user cannot view the commenting and markups within the PDF, it is greyed out.
I have tried unchecking the "Display in Read Mode by default" under internet in preferences but this does not work. I will add that we had a contact at Adobe who gave us this reg file that would make sure the comment and markups toolbar stayed visible in our application.

Lift and Stamp remains a mystery

I have read the Soundtrack Pro manual, stared at the computer screen, read the manual again, clicked on everything that the manual says should be there (and ain't), scratched my head, read the manual again. STUMPED! Just how do you use the Lift and Stamp tool? I can't even get the bugger to show up. All I need to do is copy the effects (EQ settings) of one file to another without reinventing the wheel each time. You'd think such a thing would be a simple cut and paste. Please help, I know I'm probably stupid and it's all really obvious... BUT I'M LOST

Now I'm convinced it's me screwing something up. I seem to be able to copy the EQ settings OK using Process/Equalization Matching/Set Equalization Print from the source file. But when I try and copy the parameters to the target audio using Process/Equalization Matching/Apply Equalization - the Apply Equalization is grayed out and I can't apply it.
Am I not selecting the audio file correctly? I use the Select All feature as double clicking seems to have no effect.
Note: I am opening the files from within Final Cut Pro using the File/Send To/Soundtrack Pro Audio File Project route.
Can you spot the obvious mistake in any of this?
