Upgrade to BW 7.4 runs for days in phase PARMVNT_SHD - Nametab Activation

Hi everyone,
We are upgradeing from BW 7.01 to BW 7.4 and facing a very long runtime in the phase PARMVNT_SHD (actual phase PARMVNT_TRANS). It has been running for 3 days!
In this phase nametab activations are taking place. The upgrade is not stuck, but there are many objects to process from table DDXTT. I have checked the following:
1. We are using the latest SUM tool SUM 1.0 sp10
2. We are using the latest TP and R3trans
3. Our database is on Oracle 11g, latest patches applied and parameters are set based on SAP note recommendations
4. The hardware is HPUX with 8 cpus and plenty of memory.
It is just very odd that this phase takes so long and that there are so many objects to process.
Please help if you have any information or suggestions.

We had exactly the same issue with our dev-system, it is very small.
It was already running for more than 72 hours and it seemed the do nothing. The log files at ../SUM/abap/tmp/ where updated once in a while but not to much action.
After setting the new parameters and restarting the DB it is running rally fast.
Apart from yours we changed two more.
This is the list of parameters we changed in our system (we will be setting these back as soon as the upgrade is completed)
db_cache_size=2G (1G)
shared_pool_size=1600M (800M)
shared_pool_reserved_size=70M (40M)
pga_aggregate_target=600M (400M)
open_cursors=20000 (1000)
I'll give you all an update when this is completed.

GRC AC 5.3 - Sync Mode background job running for days.

We have the following performance issues on the GRC System.
1- Please note that the sync mode background job has been running for DAYS.
My question is if I truncate table virsa_cc_prmvl; (which stores all the analysis results), will my GRC system be effected.
2- Secondly we have a job analysing roles, which causes the performance to go down. And due to we have a extremely high number of roles, we would like to know if there would be a way to improve the analysis for roles. Is there any parameter modification in GRC / J2EE/ backend related to roles?
Details of our roles:
- we have more than 60000 roles in our system
- 75 % of the roles are not assigned to any user (is there a way to avoid these roles? these roles are not put in order so too tedious to choose roles individually or by range.
3- We are running a job with four risks and it's taking more than two minutes per user (we've got 10.000 + users in total)
How can I resolve this performance issue.
4- What is the recommended size of the batch for user sincronization. Should I use 1000 or 10,000 (based on our above environment).

Prereq query for Logical Standby runs for days

Have had an SR open for a month that isn't getting anywhere, thought I'd check here and see if anybody has run into this.
We're looking at setting up a logical standby database, Oracle 11.2.0.3 on AIX running PeopleSoft.
There is a prereq query in the Oracle manual which is also run via the GC wizard to find tables without unique logical identifiers.
SELECT OWNER, TABLE_NAME FROM DBA_LOGSTDBY_NOT_UNIQUE
WHERE (OWNER, TABLE_NAME) NOT IN
(SELECT DISTINCT OWNER, TABLE_NAME FROM DBA_LOGSTDBY_UNSUPPORTED)
AND BAD_COLUMN = 'Y';
My problem is that the darned thing runs for 5.5 days.
The view in that query runs the function logstdby$tabf, which runs the following SQL over and over and over and over:
SELECT * FROM LOGSTDBY_UNSUPPORT_TAB_11_2B
Each time it runs the LOGSTDBY_UNSUPPORT_TAB_11_2B query is about 8 seconds. Run it 100,000 times and that adds up. Looks like the big problem in that query is full table scans of TAB$ and COL$.
Anybody seen it? Anybody fixed it?

Good suggestion - in 15 minutes you got farther than support did in 2 weeks.
Rather than remove the sub-query, I can change it into a minus, which is functionally equivalent to the original but changes the executions on DBA_LOGSTDBY_UNSUPPORTED from many times to just once.
select owner, table_name from dba_logstdby_not_unique
where bad_column = 'Y'
minus
select distinct owner, table_name from dba_logstdby_unsupported;
The top part of the query still takes 9.5 hours to run though, with the time now being spent the following SQL which is called from the function logstdby$tabf which is called from the view DBA_LOGSTDBY_NOT_UNIQUE :
SELECT * FROM LOGSTDBY_SUPPORT_TAB_11_2B
Sorry for not putting that in the original post, but I want the original query to run if possible so the GC wizard will work - and I didn't want to clutter up the question.

Vi locks up after running for days

I have some old code written in LV 7 that I ported over to 2011. After fixing the legacy issues with DAQ and a save routine I ran it and it worked fine. Three days ago it was started in order to record TC data and this morning is froze/crashed. The other code which I did the same to runs for months with no incident. I checked for files becoming large with nothing out of the ordenary. Before re-launching LV and the vi I started WinDbg to record a dump file. Anyone have any ideas or ran into a simular problem.

Did you also update your OS or PC when migrating to LabVIEW 2011? Nothing specific stands out based on your comments, but those changes would also be worth evaluating. WinDbg is certainly a good idea. Additionally:
-Are you using LabVIEW 2011 or 2011 SP1? 32- or 64-bit?
-What OS is this? What bitness?
-Is this running in the LabVIEW development environment or is it compiled into an executable running on the machine?
-Did the application crash and close, or just become unresponsive?
-If the application did crash, a log file should have been generated by the IDE or runtime engine. If you have that available, I'd recommend posting that here as it may give some insight to the issue.

Process Instance shows status as "Running" for days/months

We have a wli proces deployed in cluster environment (WLI 8.1 SP4). The process is timer triggered every day. When we looked at the process monitoring section in wliconsole, we found that there were some process instances triggered a month back still showing the status as "Running". But the process actually ran to completion during those instances.
Is it a known issue? Another note is that the process uses an XA driver pool for querying a database and retrieves records.

- Background dispatcher and central system dispatcher started
- Mail sending from SolMan (CEN) works when testing from SBWP in both clients 003 and 000
I suppose SAP has not realized the problem still exists in Netweaver 2004s
Nevertheless the coding corrections metioned within the note exist in my function method
Can you explain me the interaction between "background dispatcher" and "central system dispatcher" (is there one?) ; or rather the interaction between the "central system disptacher" and "auto reaction methods"...
I couldn´t find sufficient information so far.

Disk erase / partition running for 30 hours and counting

Hi all !
Im posting on behalf of the logged in person
His Macbook pro 13" just started going VERY slow overnight, Startup - 10min, open app - 3/4min etc
He took it to an Apple store - they concluded the HDD is faulty
and they quoted him ZAR4000 to replace the drive ( the Samsung drive they quoted on typically sells for ZAR650 )
He rejected the quote as it was too expensive, that is when I got involved
I took the existing 500GB Toshiba drive out and put it through a battery of tests - all passed
I then took a brand new Western Digital 500 GB HDD, installed it, went through the steps to load OSX
The unmount action takes 30 odd min, the erase / partition / format runs for days
That 1st attempt took in excess of 3 days ( round the clock ) to get it running,
but with the new hdd & clean install - still as slow as ****
(any version of OSX, up to the latest - same results )
I then installed an old 100GB Intel SSD - everything was lightning fast and the system was up & running in 3 Hours
In the last 2 weeks I have tried different conventional HDD's - they all take ages to load & once done - is very,very slow
Is there something im not aware of in terms of HDD's specifically compatible with Mac ?
Any ideas pls guys

Correct. If the backups are indeed corrupted, as they appear to be, you may or may not be able to do a full system restore. It just depends on where the corruption is, and there's no way to determine that.
An option would be to boot from your Install disc, erase your internal HD, and install OSX. When your Mac restarts, try using +Setup Assistant+ to restore your settings, apps, users, and data, per the green box in #19 of Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).
If that doesn't work, erase your disk and install OSX again, but this time don't transfer anything. Set up a temporary user account (using a different name than any that are on your backups). When your Mac reboots, use +Migration Assistant+ (per the pink box in #19) to bring things over, one group at a time. If it hangs on one group, make a note of what didn't transfer, and go on to the next. Then use the normal Time Machine "Star Wars" display to restore the missing items selectively. You may very well get most of your data that way.

When upgrading to R12.1.1 script apilnupg.sql is running for 4 days

Script apilnupg.sql ran for almost 7 days and errored with unique constraint error,support given datafix and restarted again
now it is running for almost 4 days ...whether any performance issue of server wheter any specific init parameters need to set

yes, that app engine didnt inserted any rows. So now when i tried to drill down i found that there was no data in the "new demo" database on table UPG_DATACONV. That is the reason for all this.
When i applied required for upgrade patch in demo it said couple of patch already exists so those update i skipped. Now when i check upd877654 has a step which imports the data in this table. my change assistant told that the update is already available in my demo so i skipped. Now i am not sure what to do.

Thank for for your suggestions. Unfortunately they are of little help. I am running on Snow Leopard and the PalmDesktop works fine. However, I do not want to quit my PalmTungsten unit as it is my backup for all my important access information. If it cannot run on Mavericks and no other solution is at hand, I simply will not update my OS X, but work on my Snow Leopard as it is.
I do not know how on earth I can migrate the information from my Palm into another system, and then quit the PalmPilot. If you have any intelligent solutions to this I would appreciate an input. A manual copy and paste solution is not acceptable. I may however run it on Windows via Parallel Desktop, but it is a lousy solution, and demonstrates (again) the weakness of Apple's OS and lack of compatibility. I am not impressed by the OS X performance.

I have a sql sever 2005 database of SAP development which is having a deferred transaction error while DBCC. After restart the SQL log says the below. Still the DBCC error exists.

Dynamic date parameters for a scheduled report that runs every day

I have a report that has input parameters for a start date and
end date. The report will be scheduled to run once a day at a
scheduled time. I need the report to automatically set the start
date and end dates when the report runs at the scheduled time.
When the report runs at the scheduled time, the end date needs
to be set to that time and the start date needs to be set to 24
hrs before the end date. I want the start and end dates to roll
forward automatically when the scheduled report runs each day. I
don't want any user intervention to change the start and end
dates every day. How can I do this in a report ?
Also, since the report is scheduled to run each day, I want the
output to be saved to a unique file name each time the report is
run as each day's report will report on the data only for that
day. How can I get the report to save to a unique file name
automatically each day ? Again, I don't want any user
intervention where they would set the output file name manually.

Try adding the following in the beforereport or beforepform
trigger, before the RETURN clause (TRUNC gets rid of the time
component of the date):
:p_date_from := TRUNC(sysdate) - 1;
:p_date_to := TRUNC(sysdate);
:desname := 'REPORT'||TO_CHAR(sysdate, 'DDMMYYYY')||'.txt'
