Upgrade to CS3 can I trash CS2 from Applications?

I have just reloaded OS 10.4 on my macbook, and I have loaded CS2 and upgrade CS3, in Applications I still see Photoshop CS2 and Bridge CS2, can I chuck them? or will this disable CS3?
Thanks
Chris

If you've done a correct install of CS3 then there's no reason why you couldn't trash CS2 in my honest opinion. Do a back-up first, so that if it goes to pot then you can revert back any changes.

    Hi,
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
Open Console in Applications>Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when trying to open CS2.

  • Can't open nautilus from applications menu

I find that I can't open nautilus from applications menu any more.
In the terminal, it won't open nautilus when running 'nautilus' without specifying a location or --new-window option.
I've checked and tried to modify /usr/share/applications/org.gnome.Nautilus.desktop and /usr/share/applications/nautilus-classic.desktop, but it didn't work.
The values of Exec option in the two files are as follows:
    /usr/share/applications/org.gnome.Nautilus.desktop: Exec=nautilus --new-window %U
    /usr/share/applications/nautilus-classic.desktop:  Exec=nautilus --no-default-window --force-desktop
Also, I have tried to reinstall nautilus. I didn't work, either.
    Any one can help?

Are you using gnome classic session? Or have you enabled desktop icons?
Sounds like the nautilus-classic.desktop could be getting launched  during gnome-session startup, which should happen in both of the cases above.
According to my testing, starting nautilus with 'nautilus --no-default-window --force-desktop' causes the exact behavior you're describing.
I'm using standard gnome without desktop icons, and I don't have any issues with nautilus, so disabling them would probably help, although that could be a drag if you really want desktop icons.
I still don't understand why the org.gnome.Nautilus.desktop wouldn't work though, since it has the --new-window flag. Apparently you can't even launch a new window via the right click menu item.
This could happen if gnome-shell recognizes the nautilus-classic.desktop as nautilus, and starts using it's .desktop file instead when you try to launch a new window.
If so you could probably fix this from the .desktop file somehow. I might be able to look into it later..
I'm also using standard gnome, and I have enabled desktop icons.
Disabling desktop icons makes it work.
    Thanks!
I once tried to modify nautilus-classic.desktop to Exec=natilus --new-window, but it didn't help.

  • Can i transfer file from application server to lotus server.

    hi
can i transfer file from application server to lotus server.
i m geting file on application server but i want to transefer that file from application server to lotus server.
if yes than give me suggestion.
    thanks in advanced.

    Hello Laxman
If you want to trigger the file transfer from within SAP then you need to execute an <b>external OS command</b> (transaction <b>SM49</b>, <b>SM69</b>).
At the level of the OS (operating system, e.g. Windows, Linux) you need to be able to transfer files to the Lotus server.
Your task is, for example, to write a report executing the external OS command which will be executed at the OS level where the file transfer happens.

  • I currently use Snow Leopard and Microsoft Word, Excel and Entourage o my Mac.  If I upgrade to Mavericks, can I still use those applications?

I currently use Snow Leopard with Microsoft Word, Excel and Entourage on my iMac.  If I upgrade to Mavericks, can I still use those applications?

If the Microsoft Office is 2004 then no.
    Mavericks System requirements.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5842
Note I would recommend a minimum of 4GB RAM.
You need to check all you software and hardware including any peripherlas you use, printers etc that they are compatible with Mavericks.
Any software that is PPC and uses Rossetta will not work with any OS X verson later than 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.
If you decide to upgrade have a tested backup of your current system in case of problems and you could return the computer to its previous configuration.

  • If I upgrade to Tiger, can I trash previous OS?

    Here are my current specs:
    OS X version 10.2.8
    memory: 512 MB
    processor: 800 MHz PowerPC G4
My Safari browser is 1.0.3 (v85.8.1).
I'm still using Outlook Express version 5.0.6 for mail.
I'm thinking of upgrading to either Panther or Tiger. (From other forums, I guess my Mac is not currently eligible to upgrade to Leopard.) Mainly I need to do this because my Safari browser is so outdated that it keeps crashing on me, and I can't use many websites.
If I upgrade my Outlook Express afterward, or if I start using a different mail system, can I trash OS 9, which I keep only to use Outlook Express? Can I trash my 10.2? I'm all about saving space because I use iMovie frequently and make a lot of movies.
Do you think I should also install more RAM? I'm trying to avoid having to buy a whole new Mac!! Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Within reason most newer OS versions can run older software, at least only a generation or two removed. I would not anticipate having problem running early OSX generation software under Panther or Tiger, but I would run it for a while before trashing 10.2 just to make sure.
Tiger only requires 256MB RAM [according to Apple|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301341] but I think most would recommend at least two or three times that amount to run comfortably.
Consider getting an external hard drive (firewire) if you are having space problems. Movies gobble up space and the measures you are considering may only save you a GB or two in the end.

  • HT4009 What about upgrading? I can't do that from where I live w/o connecting to my hd. Now with the new changes to ITunes, I don't see how I can upgrade thru the traditional route I took b4. Now what do I do?

What about upgrading apps on your IPhone? I can't do that from where I live w/o connecting directly to my laptop. With Apple's new Itunes page, I don't see how I can navigate successfully now to acheive the same result as before. Hmmm. I would appreciate some quick guidance. Thanks.

With iTunes 11 you can enable the left-hand sidebar that used to show on previous versions of iTunes via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC. You can then select the Apps part of your iTunes library on that sidebar and on the right-hand side of iTunes click the Check For Updates button at the bottom to see if any of your apps have updates available. Then connect your phone and select it on the sidebar, and on the Apps tab on the right-hand side click the Sync button at the bottom of it to copy the updates over

  • Just upgraded to LP7, can I trash LP6?

Hi I just upgraded to Logic Pro 7 but Logic Pro 6 along with it's Plug In settings/EXSamples & Sampler Instruments is still on my Mac in the Applications folder, can I trash it?
    Thanks.

you could, but don't. there are a couple of things in logic 7 which don't work right which you can use 6 to fix. in fact, if you use score editor a lot i would recommend making sure you had a version for os 9, with which you can resave corrupted songs.

  • Can't find Thunderbird from application

    Hi,
I am using Gnome 3 as my desktop.
I installed Thunderbird through pacman, but after the installation finished , I can't find it in Activities -> Application, how can I add it to Application ?
    Thanks!

I'm sorry, this is a little off topic, but... Does GNOME Shell really need to be restarted in order to "see" new applications? It's 2012!

  • After upgrade to IOS8 can't import photos from Aperture

I upgraded to IOS8, reset my iPad to factory settings and reinstalled all my apps from scratch.
When go into iTunes and I select to import photos from Aperture on my Mac it hangs.
I have an old iPhoto library on my Mac and if I select photos from that it works.
I have switched off everything to do with iCloud after seeing some posts that this might be causing the problem, but not a solution for me.
(I have over 28,000 photos in my Aperture library).

Did you turn on iCloud Photo Library? I suspect it may remove the ability to sync photos and videos between Macs and iOS devices.

  • After upgrading to Mavericks, can't install programs from discs

I am unable to install photoshop elements 12. I've upgraded to Mavericks, and this is the first disc I've tried to install. The dvd drive does read regular dvds, but spins, then ejects the install disc. I've reset the PRAM and puffed air in the drive slot. The disc is just out of the box, no scratches. I tried to install Premier Elements too, but same spin, then ejection. Do I need to change some setting somewhere or has the dvd drive developed an issue.

You can start by doing some basic resets such as a iMac SMC and PRAM reset, you may need to do the SMC reset 2-3 times. Also you can restart in Safe Mode to clear some caches. If  you continue to have problems post back and there are other things to try such as cleaning the SuperDrive or using an external DVD drive.
