Upgrade to CS5.5 or wait for CS6.0?

I currently have Flash Pro CS5.0. The free Flash Pro CS5.5 trial has ended. I don't feel like spending $120 for the upgrade and then upgrading again to Flash Pro CS6.0. I do need to use the latest AIR. What is the smartest way to handle this?
Thanks!

Adobe is now offering free upgrades to CS6 versions if you purchase CS5.5 versions between now and release.
Order the current version of Adobe® Creative Suite® software and get CS6 at no additional cost. You will receive an email 10 days after the ship of Creative Suite 6 with redemption instructions and a promotional code.

  • InDesign/InCopy CS5.5 or wait for CS6

We are currently an InDesign/InCopy workflow for our City quarterly magazine.  I have InDesign on the Mac and there are 7 InCopy stations on PC's. I currently have CS5 for InDesign but have not upgraded the InCopy users yet so for the publication we are using CS4. We are looking at upgrading everyone now to CS5.5 but with CS6 on the horizon (and all the new epublication capabilities),I am wondering if it would be wise to just wait for CS6 at this point. We won't be able to upgrade for a couple more years after we do.
    Any comments?
    Thank you,
    Holly

Ugh. I'm afraid I need to revise my remarks a bit:
It's a bit tough to find the pricing details on the web, but call an Adobe volume licesning reseller and I'm sure they'll be happy to quote it for you.
I was fooled by the nonfunctionality of the Discount calculator if you choose MultiNorthAmerican Language instead of Universal English. I turns out the rates are the same as at the Adobe Business Store.
And I guess it's not-so-good for you. $119 for a CS5.5 InDesign upgrade, and $210 for 2 years of maintenance. $89 each for the InCopy upgrades, and $76 for 2 years of maintenence. So extended out for 1 InDesign and 7 InCopy, that's $1484. Coincidently that's $742 for the upgrades and $742 for for the Update plan (how do they do that)?
But the kicker is, of course, if you had bought the upgrade plans at the same time as you bought the products, then you wouldn't be paying for the upgrade plans now. But of course, they only last 2 years...
But we've heard that Adobe is moving to a 12-month release cycle, so you theoretically expect to get two version for that $742 Update plan (CS6 and then the next one, be it CS7 or CS6.5 or whatever). Except you're inelligable to buy it today, since you don't have CS5.5.
So, umm, where does this leave you? I don't know. I guess I'm a fan of keeping current, because everything changes and you never know what you'll need. But the question is whether CS5.5 is worth it to you. So download the trial and see.
But if you upgrade to CS5.5, you should buy the maintenance. CS5.5 came out in April/May of 2011, so CS6 should come out around the same time, if everything works "acording to plan." So if you buy the maintenance in, say, February, then you'll get CS6 for the same price you paid for CS5.5, as well as the version that comes after it, asuming Adobe sticks to the same timetable.
Ugh. Maybe you should think about the subscription model, I don't know. Or increasing the number of seats so you make it over the TLP point restrictions and up to some actual discounted levels.

  • CS5 Premium Bundle 50% off or should I wait for CS6?

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on the Creative Suite 5.5 Production Premium going for $849... half off the asking price?
Is it worth it to purchase or should i wait for CS6?

Whether or not to buy RIGHT NOW depends on a couple of things:
    1. Do you NEED the software now, or can you wait about 2 1/2 months for CS6 to ship?
    2. Are you upgrading from a very old version or starting out fresh with Adobe Creative Suite?
Another thing to consider is whether or not you're interested in the Adobe Creative Cloud, which is a current service offering but will be coming into full effect with CS6. It will be a subscription service but it looks like it will be an incredible value for the user who typically upgrades with each version and uses the software on a near-daily basis.
If you need/want a box software and don't plan to upgrade again for a long time, then perhaps buying CS5.5 right now while it's 1/2 off is a good deal for you. You might also want to wait until March 1st, because Adobe has a 30 day return policy and you may want/need to consider that as an option if a bunch of new buzz builds about CS6. Also, sometimes early March has been a cutoff date for free upgrades to the next version when it's released in April (again, this is based on past scenarios...no one will be able to guarantee anything about these considerations).
I typically upgrade for each full version, which has run me about $500-$700 on average each time (from CS2 to CS3, then CS4 and now CS5). I did not upgrade to CS5.5 because I didn't really need to, so my cost for CS5 has been about $25 per month for the past 2 years (but without an upgrade to CS5.5). The Creative Cloud, which is slated to start at $49 (whatever that means), looks to include a LOT more stuff and be a reasonable option for my type of usage, so I'm waiting to see how that turns out.

    Bonjour,
    Benjamin

There are no upgrades for S&T editions other than going commercial. If you are still a student you simply buy a new Mac license.

  • How can I upgrade my CS5.5 design standard to CS6 extended?

  • Upgrade to Snow Leopard or wait for Lion?

I'm currently using a first generation Intel iMac (2.0Ghz and 3gb RAM) running Leopard.  It covers 90% of my computer needs as is, but I want to keep it humming along for as long as possible.  I was all set to pull the triger on the Snow Leopard upgrade, then I remembered Lion is expected to ship soon.
My question is this, should I spend the $30 to upgrade to SL now or hold out and spend possibly more money to upgrade to Lion when it comes out?  Honestly, I'm more concerned about streamlining my system and improving performance than having the latest bells and whistles.  I'm also concerned that my iMac may not be quite up to par for running Lion (I do plan up max out the RAM at 6gb).  On the flip side, it seems I am always one OS behind.  And it seems kind of dumb to upgrade knowing a new OS is just around the corner.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks!

As far as we know Lion is due out sometime in the summer based on prior Apple announcements.  If that's soon enough for you then wait.  On the other hand Lion may have features you don't need and Snow Leopard would prove quite adequate.

  • Will it be possible to upgrade from CS5 Design Premium to PS CS6 only?

    Hi!
I do own CS4/5 Design Premium and would like to know if it would be possible to get PS CS6 as upgrade from my versions. Or can I only upgrade to Suites?
    Thanks,
    Sven

You cannot buy an upgrade from a suite version to get just Photoshop CS6.
You might consider, however, buying a subscription to Photoshop 6 or the CS6 and the Creative Cloud (separately).
It will be easier to view your options after the official announcement of CS6 which is to happen on Monday, April 23.

  • Difficulty finding downloaded CS6 (upgraded to CS5) for Win after following all recommended steps

Hi there - would appreciate a hand on what I am sure is a very basic request - I purchased upgrade CS5 to CS6 online about 3 days ago and signed in and located my order, clicked on it and proceeded to what I thought was 'download', waited for it to download and then the download window disappeared and I thought it would pop up with 'Run' or similar but nothing happens. This has happened 3 times. I have been using the Akamai net session - I checked in my downloads file each time and there is nothing there. My order and serial number now appear in the Downloads section of my account at Adobe so that apparently means it is downloaded but I can't find anything! Thanks folks
I basically followed the steps suggested by this helpful forum note (which replicates what was in the email the Adobe Store sent me:
Q: I can't find the product I downloaded, where is it?
A: The following steps will help locate your software for download:
    Go to Adobe.com.
Click Sign In (in the upper right corner).
Enter your Adobe ID and password, and then click Sign In.
Click My Orders and then Order History.
Locate the order number, and click the Download link in the Downloads column.
Start the download by choosing one of the following:
Click Download and follow the onscreen instructions.
Click Akamai Download Manager and follow the onscreen instructions.
If you prefer downloading directly in a browser, click Alternate Download Method. Then click the .7z and .exe files (Windows) or the .dmg file (Mac OS) to download the software to your computer.

    Hi seanlark,
Please find the below document which should be helpful to locate the download link from your Adobe account:
Find a download link on Adobe.com
If you still face issue in locating the Download link from your Account then you can download your CS6 from the below link:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/cs6-product-downloads.html
Then use the serial number to activate your product.
    Thank you.

  • Upgrading to CS4 web premium ... or wait for CS5 ?

The actual question I have for anyone who may have some insight:  Is there anything groundbreaking in the works for Dreamweaver, Photoshop or Illustrator in CS5 which is due to be released in about 6 months ?
We have CS3 Web Standard, and now want to upgrade to Web Premium so we can get Photoshop and Illustrator which we now need, but with some pain could probably find a way to hold off for another 6 months .... if it was worth the wait that is. We don't necessarily need (and can't afford) the latest Software version all the time, but has there been any discussion about Improvements or New Features in the next release that's going to make us regret not waiting .......... ?
    * We are a small home business, but don't want to miss out on any major changes if you know what I mean . . .

If you cannot afford the latest software all the time, why would you want to jump from CS3 to CS4? That falls under the 'all the time' category by going for a consecutive upgrade. A more economical way to go would be to leap-frog releases (CS3 to CS5).
The possible upgrade to CS5 may offer better integration of the apps. Since Adobe bough Macromedia a few years ago, it has been gradually blending the apps to be friendly with each other. It would not be a stretch of the imagination that a CS5 web design workflow might be better than with CS4.
Many web designers find Fireworks a decent replacement for both Illustrator and Photoshop. If you want to explore other image editors, consider GIMP (gimp.org) as a substitute for Photoshop and Inkscape (inkscape.org) as a substitute for Illustrator until you really need to upgrade.

  • If I upgrade from CS5.5 to CS6 will I have to pay again for upgrading to CSCC?

If I upgrade from CS5.5 to CS6 will I have to pay again for upgrading to CSCC?
I have CS5.5 and my current clients have CS6.
If I upgrade to CSCC will I have any trouble saving back my files to CS6? Are there any know issues that occur when saving back to CS6 or earlier?

Why would you update to CS6 when you can go directly to CC.  And while you wouldn't pay another upgrade amount you would have to pay the monthly subscription whether you upgrade to CS6 or not.
And you shouldn't have problems saving your files in a form that is readable by CS6.  You wouldn't be able to make further adjustments on items that are not in CS6 ie. Shake reduction, however the adjustments you make in CC will be visible.

  • Upgrade PS CS5 to CS6 for MAC

The link to buy CS6 upgrade from CS5 does work, but it only yields a Windows version. The "Windows" is greyed out and cannot be changed in the shopping cart. Any work around for a MAC user?

You will have Windows as the default choice. Click on "Edit" next to "Edit|Remove" to change your upgrade to Mac.
You will have to reselect "Upgrade" before you choose "Mac". Save your changes and you are good to go.

  • My company purchased CS5.5 this year. However, we missed the 5 August upgrade deadline for CS6.

We were not inform of the deadline for download of compliementary upgrade to CS6. Any way to get the complimentary upgrade?
I've talked to the Chat Support from Adobe. Apparently, he is not helpful at all.

Erm, not helpful at all. We did a purchase in January 2012 with the distributor on the pretext that there will be upgrade from CS6. So, what we did is buy the upgrade from CS2 to CS5.
After checking with support from Adobe from http://www.adobe.com/sea/support/contact/
    Singapore: 800 448 1642
They are saying that I have to purchase from March and that the deadline to get free upgrade is on August.
And the upgrade from CS5.5 to CS6 web premium is not cheap either. Seems like we are stuck in CS5.5.
