Upgrade to CS5 not printing properly

Just upgraded to CS5 (ver 7.0.4) . Seem to be having difficulty printing documents that include graphics.
Printer is RICOH Afico SP C811DN PS.
     Vista Home SP2
Files that I had no problem with in CS4, are only printing portions of the text and graphics.
Text only galley files seem to be OK.
Any thoughts?

There really is nothing for Adobe to fix.
Some technical background.
When identifying a printer driver as a PostScript printer driver, Adobe Creative Suite applications as well as Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat all generate their own PostScript and pass that through the driver. This is true for both Windows and MacOS. The role of the PostScript driver is to add device-dependent operators (typically setpagedevice PostScript operators) either at the start of the job or at page boundaries to deal with device-specific issues, paper selection, paper finishing, etc. Unfortunately, sometimes printer vendors provide PostScript drivers with plug-ins that attempt to modify the PostScript generated by either the base driver or in the case of Adobe applications, passed through the driver, to utilize or to show off features of their particular printer models. And sometimes such modifications backfire and yield what I can best describe as broken output.
Another issue to be understood is that Adobe provides what is effectively an SDK to our OEMs from which they develop printer products that interpret PostScript. In their attempt to differentiate their products, Adobe OEMs often make local modifications that in principle are not supposed to violate the rules of PostScript interpretation and rendering. Unfortunately, sometimes they do.
When you find such problems, the best approach is to put pressure on the printer manufacturer and/or their representatives to fix their bugs, the same way you put pressure on Adobe to fix bugs in InDesign.

  • InDesign CS5 Not Printing properly...tight timeline

    Hi
    I've designed a series of 8.5 x 11 inserts for a Fireplace manufacturer and I'm having a heck of a time printing.
I've set up the individual pages at 8.5" x 11" with the boxes in the left top corner reading X=0, Y=5.5, W=8.5 in, H=11 in.   When I export to Adobe Acrobat and print I get white borders, when I print directly from ID I get the same.  I need to print exactly as it looks on my monitor with the background .psd from edge to edge and the content constrained inside the margins.
Please help as I have a tight timeline and can't get past this issue.
    Thank you

    Hi
    Thank you.
I just completed a version with bleeds [0.125] and have sent it to a print shop here in town.  If you would prefer to look at the PDF, I have it uploaded @ http://www.auctionontario.ca/DPM_TestPrint.pdf
I was really praying this could be reproduced on 8.5 x 11 paper, but if it can't and I need to pay for larger paper and trimming...well things don't always go as planned.
Please advise whether there is anything I could have done differently to improve the set up for printing after viewing the PDF, I still have time to change it before the shop opens in the morning.
    Thanks for all the help.

  • Not printing properly with horizontal lines

    HP Officejet Pro 8500A
Not printing properly (Faded colors) with horizontal lines, printing excess pages with odd scripts.  I suspect printer heads.
    All color cartidges are full.
Printing can be direct from computer or by scanning from the printer.  Either way, it has the same issues.

  • Windows 7 in OS printer driver for Deskjet 6840 not printing properly

The Windows 7 (32 bit) in OS print driver for the Deskjet 6840 produces print in "Normal" mode that is blurred (not properly registered left to right and slightly vertically). When printing in "Draft" mode it is apparent that the driver is not setting the left and right margins correctly, so that each line is alternately shifted left or right on the page. If I switch to a 500C driver, the printer works fine (but of course high res images do not print properly). This is occuring on two wired network computers, both running clean installs of Windows 7 professional with all current updates including Service Pack 1. Microsoft says, "It's a HP printer, it's their problem". I'm just looking for an answer. Anyone have experience with this?

    Hello Bhl3302,
Thanks for posting at NI forums! I think you should follow RavensFan advice on contacting the vendor for information on the driver’s support, or if you have a readme file, you could check on that. Also, are the Windows XP and Windows sharing the same architecture (32 or 64 bits)? Maybe the driver is not compatible with one of them, in case it changed. I did a quick search on the error message you're getting, and I found this forum in which they give some steps you could follow regarding the INF file. For instance, in one of the comments, they say they had a similar issue with another device and they found some work arounds.

  • Bill of Lading (BOL) was not printing properly

    Hi ,
In Production system, Bill of Lading (BOL) was not printing properly.
Only a part of BOL is printed.
It was happening only for one BOL, where as other BOLs are printing correctly.
    Even spool was generated successfully.

    Hi Kotireddy,
I also face the same problem long back. The problem was at the delivery item text.
One of the line item texts contained a special character.
Once the special character was removed, everything was normal. BOL was printed successfully.
Check the failed BOL, whether this may be the problem.

  • USB P1505 not printing properly via Terminal Services

I have problem printing to these printers via terminal services.  Other pinters print fine but these guys either print intermittently or not at all.  I have installed the latest drivers on the TS and the clients.  Sometimes sessions will be created and jobs would just remain in the queue or take a very long time to print.  They are the USB and not the N models.
    Any ideas?
    Win2k3 server
    Win2k Pro/WinXP clients

The router is Zylex, the printer is an hp deskjet 3512. I first used the disk that came with the printer that did not work, so I uninstalled and downloaded off of this site thinking maybe it would be a more updated version. That did not work either. I have done all of the other troubleshooting that I have found on this site through other forums I unplugged the router, checked countless times to make sure the password and network were correct.
My main issue at this point in time is that it will not print properly at all. I dont know if I need to download something to make it work. I am a full time student, work full time, and have children. I need my printer to work when I hook it up to usb, I dont have time to for all of these problems that I have had with this printer. I am actually in need of something printed at this very moment and my library is closed which is where I have had to go and pay .25 a page to print anything. So Please help!!!!

  • Jewel case insert does not print properly since new itunes version was installed

jewel case insert does not print properly since new itunes version was installed. The song list prints all of the line items too close together without space inbetween each song.

I am having the same issue. If I close itunes and open with a new CD already in the drive, it will find it. But once that CD has been imported and ejected, itunes does not find the newly inserted CD and there is no command to tell itunes to "look" in the CD drive

  • Envelopes do not print properly using an All-in-One Photosmart C410a and C310a

My HP C410a is USB attached. Serial
Using Windows 7, SP2 (Home Premium - desktop); and Windows XP (laptop)
    Using Word 2010 (WIN7) and Word 2007 (WIN/XP)
The printer has latest drivers:  PS_AIO_07_C410_FSW_Full_Win_enu_140_222.exe
    April 1, 2010
It prints normal pages OK, e.g.: there are no anomalies.
But, when I print an envelope from Word 2010 it does not print on the envelope as expected (a No. 10 envelope), but rather the printer IGNORES the formatting in Word and prints the address as if the envelope in the printer is an 8-1/2”x11” page, in landscape mode (the only correct action).
I have uninstalled and deleted the driver multiple times.
Yes, I last did the uninstall Sunday June 12, 2011; followed by a fresh install.
Yes, I printed an envelope after the fresh install and it printed properly.
Today, the anomaly (the address prints in the wrong location, e.g.: middle of an 8-1/2”x11” page) has recurred.
Between Sunday and today, I did not make any changes in my system, e.g.: no Windows, Office, etc. updates.  And, I did not change any of the envelope formatting or print options in Word 2010.
This is NOT a physical problem, rollers, print head, etc. as the printer is barely one month old --- and do note that the envelope (actually multiple) printed properly the other day - Sunday.
This is not the first time that this has occurred.  Yes, on previous occasions I uninstalled and installed the drivers.
AND, more importantly, I have a laptop that uses the same printer, same driver, and Word 2007.  It too now prints the envelope address incorrectly, e.g.: as if it is an 8-1/2”x11” page.
Hence, there is something inherently bad, wrong, defective, etc. inside the printer itself.
Before sending me on an Easter egg hunt, do notel:
Restarting, e.g.; power off /on /off / on does not work or fix the issue.
Uninstalling drivers and reinstalling drivers does not work, as explained.
Switching PC’s, as explained does not work.
Using different software suites, e.g.: Word 2007 (Windows XP – Professional) and Word 2010 does not work.
There are NO new updates from HP per the HP Solution Center.
    What is HP’s solution?

This is not a problem with the printer - Word 2010 has it's own way of printing envelopes and labels that you must follow regardless of the printer. I have included some screenshots below to guide you along - I hope you find this helpful. The 3rd pic has the important areas marked with red rectangles - those are different from the defaults that Word ALWAYS seems to present at least on my system. With the following procedure, load the envelope as instruction in the HP Solution Center How-Do-I... videos (search for envelope - it should be among the first few articles you are presented in the search results).

    Himanshu

  • Why do files (UPS labels) from the Internet not print properly (they used to), unless they're saved as PDFs and then printed?

Files from the Internet (for example a UPS label) no longer print properly (too light, faded out), whereas they used to print just fine directly from the Internet source. The only way they print properly now is to save the file as a PDF and print from that. So I'm think it's not the Canon printer. This hasn't happened before, and I'd like to know what I can do about it, what's going on. This is via Firefox and Safari on my Mac laptop, OS 10.6.8.
    Thanks, David Smoak

    2) Thanks for the tip. It isn't what I had in mind, but writing scripts to do the work (via tells to "System Events") and then invoking those scripts with osascript is indeed a reasonable solution.
    3) You may not have understood me. The only peculiarity is that I sometimes see "Enable Folder Actions" in the menu even when Folder Actions are, in fact, globally enabled, so that I should instead be seeing "Disable Folder Actions" along with "Remove a Folder Action" and so forth. As you say, I always see "Configure Folder Actions...". Surely this is just a minor bug.
As far as the main issue, I don't believe I have any code that activates the Finder. My original message has a sample of one of my scripts, and you can see that it doesn't mention the Finder at all. As I said, I get the same behavior with the sample Folder Action scripts in /Library. As one more test, I tried a absolutely empty script---the Script Editor window contains not a single glyph when I save it. If I attach this completely empty script as a Folder Action to a folder, any addition or deletion from that folder activates the Finder, though nothing else happens. Still looking for help on this one!

  • Pdf documents will not print properly

my imac running 10.5.8 will not print some pdf documents properly.  In particular sheet music will only print as horizontal and vertical lines - the symbols and notes do not print.  The 'print preview' shows all the symbols and notation correctly.
This occurs in both Adobe Acrobat (v10.1.3) and Preview (v 4.2 - 469.5).
Printer in use is a HP 2600n connected via USB cable.

Seems it's not sending the Font to the Printer, or the Font has a conflict & the Printer thinks it's another Font.
Open Font Book & Validate all Fonts & check for duplicates.

  • PDF/X1a with a logo containing a colorized grayscale tiff not printing properly

I have a 3 color logo: black, PMS 200U, and PMS 1955U. The logo was built in Illustrator and I have placed grayscale tiff ontop of it. The grayscale tiff is a stipple (dots) effect that I colorized to PMS 1955U in Illustrator, masked it out on top of the logo, and set it to multiply. Within Illustrator, the separations look good and it prints fine when printing directly out of illustrator.
The problem is when I export it to a PDF/x1a and try to print it, it doesn't print properly. Printing from acrobat, it only previews and prints the PMS 1955U stipple and black. The flat PMS 200U under the tiff doesn't print. I've tried bitmapping the photoshop file and making the stipple monochromatic and still doesn't seem to work when exporting to a PDF and printing.
Funny thing is, when I do the whole process for the CMYK logo (not PMS), it all prints out fine as a PDF/x1a.
Any ideas on how to get the logo to export and print properly?
    Any help is much appreciated!!

Press quality uses PDF version 1.4 which supports transparency while PDF/X-1a uses PDF version 1.3 which requires transparency to be flattened.
For your issue, try enable Overprint Preview in Acrobat preferences and see you are getting the expected results, use Output Preview panel in Acrobat to turn off individual plate to see if your missing PMS 200U is listed and flat color appears.
If the above does not works please send me the files to reproduce this issue at my end, i will send my email in private message to you.

  • 4.0 Beta 12 Will not print properly. Is there a fix? How do I uninstall Beta 12?

After installing the latest patch NOTHING will print as it should. Every site, every file, everything is not spacing properly when sent to the printer. Previous version worked fine and all other browsers print properly.

I downloaded the suggested file and it fixed the problem. Thanks.

  • CS5 not installing properly

I tried to install CS5 yesterday (from boxed disk of the software received directly from Adobe) and it did not install properly and/or completely. First I got a bunch of errors and then when I tried to install it again, it appeared to have done so but no files were ever extracted and no PS icons ever appeared on my desktop. I went searching for the software on the c: drive and finally found it under program files (x86). However, when I try to open it a bunch of sub folders appear and there is nothing to unzip, etc. I don't understand what happened.
The laptop I'm using is an HP G71-340US. Intel Core Duo 2 T660, MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, 2.2GHz, 4GB DDR2 AM, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD, 320 GB Sata Hard Drive, Duel layer DVD +/- RW...
I have Photoshop Elements 8 installed as that's what I've been using.
I don't understand why CS5 will not install and unzip. Can anyone help?

Did you check the Start menu?
Do you have these files on your system?
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Photoshop.exe
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit)\Photoshop.exe
If you do have these files, what happens when you try to execute them?

  • Fonts not printing properly in Acrobat 11

I am running Acrobat 11.0.04 on a Mac with Mountain Lion. On 3 Oct 2013 I converted a .xlsx file (I use Excel 2011 v14.3.8) to pdf following the procedure File > Print > PDF > Save as Adobe PDF. It worked perfectly. Sometime since then, something has changed with Acrobat and now when I follow the same procedure (even to this same .xlsx file) my fonts are not appearing correctly in the PDF and my glyphs (eg, bullets) do not print at all. The font I am using is Lucida Sans Unicode and it's a True Type font. I am experiencing the same problem when I try to convert Word 2011 documents to PDF as well. Any help would be much appreciated.

I have been working together with Adobe support team to solve this. After multiple rootcauses we found the issue.
The issue was caused by not having the default windows font 'Segoe UI' installed. Sounds strange that Win 7 does not come with the font that is used by this application but the tip worked.
Google a website to download the font from, I used 'Fontpalace.com' - install the font - and voila the issue is solved.
