Upgrade to ECC 6.0 & SAP Netweaver 7.0

Hi,
We are right now using ECC 5.0 & Netweaver 2004 (EP 6.0). Since its very old we plan to upgrade in two phases with some time gap between them. The first phase will be upgrading the ERP to ECC6.0 and second phase is upgrading EP 6.0 to EP 7.0.
The question are:
1) Will the upgrade of ECC 6.0 will cause any conflict to the EP will be still on EP6.0 version for sometime in between?
2) Should the upgrades be carried together or how is it suggested?
3) Which is the best compatible version of Netweaver witl ECC6.0?
Hoping for quick response as we need to plan accordingly.

Generally we recommend that ESS and MSS versions, Portal and ECC are synchronized
The corresponding version and SP combinations are mentioned in

However it is also possible to run a mixed landscape - the options are listed in note 1007341

you Need to have a separate MI 7.1 box ,which connects to the SAP ECC 6 EHP5 backend.

We have to create the file .SDA with NWDS following the steps of the Sap Note 1548566 - MAM Application Start Error,then deployment the application in Sap Netweaver Mobile 7.1 Cliente, but when we try to start the application it show us the follow error:

Hi,
most likely your precompilation of JSP files did not work. While creating JSPs, check if they are really there - or if the resulting Java code is empty.
In that case you would get this error.

EHP4 upgrade from ECC 6.0

Hi experts,
We are planning to upgrade to EHP4 from ECC6.0
We have the following systems installed on non-unicode,
SAP ECC 6.0
SAP NETWEAVER 7.0
SAP SRM 3.0
Currently, we have customized ESS java webdynpro on our ESS portal, with the EHP4 upgrade and EHP1 on SAP Netweaver 7.0, would there be any implications to the customized ESS iviews ?
Our ECC 6.0 is on a non-unicode system, is it advisable to take this opportunity to convert to a unicode for scalability aspect ?
what would be the implications if we remains as non-unicode after EHP4 upgrade ?

Hi Experts,
we are planning to install EHP4 on our ECC 6.0.
We have other systems like
SAP ECC 6.0
SAP NETWEAVER 7.0
SAP SCM 7.0
SAP SRM 4.0
As i have read that EHP4 upgrade requires SAP NETVEAWER 7.0 EHP1 upgrade. Does it means that if SAP ECC 6.0 is upgraded with EHP4 that SAP NETWEAVER 7.0 system should also have EHP1 ?

Both possibilities are within reach.
You can upgrade ECC 6.0 EHP4 on Sap Netweaver 7.01 or on Sap Netweaver 7.00.
When you calcule queue in mopz (SOLUTION MANAGER) you can select your upgrade, both options are available.
I recommend you do the upgrade on Sap Netweaver 7.01.

Running Sproxy from ECC 6.0/ SAP NW 7.0 - BI service pack 16

We have ECC 6.0 / SAP Netweave BI 7.0 sps 16
I want run Sproxy, after this new service pack I could not figure out how to run SPROXY by giving oue own data.
Earlier I have use dSPROXY, when I run it ask for Generate XML template, i could paste the data from previous run, now I could not paste the data .
IS there any other way, we can fill the XML template generate data.

Upgrading SAP ESS and MSS after HR upgrade in ECC 6.0

I am new to SAP netweaver.
Our landscape has an ECC 6.0 system integrated with EP 7.0.
We recently upgraded our SAP HR from 600(SP 48) to 600(SP61) and EA HR component from 603(SP 22) to 603( SP 35).
After the upgrade we came to know that the portal users are facing some issues with Etime application on portal, i did a bit of searching and found that we have to upgrade SAP ESS, MSS and ERP5COM components. (http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/ERPHCM/HOWTOGETRIDOFSPSTACKMISMATCHISSUES)
My questions are:
1) Can we directly apply SP's for ESS, MSS and other components as i cannot find any prerequisites required to be met before they have to applied?
2)If we have ESS SP 04 and the required version is ESS SP07, can we directly apply SP 07 or we have to first apply in a sequence SP05, SP06 and then move to SP07?

Hello,
1) If a developer modified the ESS/MSS package, you need to ask the developer before you apply the patches. In this case, you find the "local version is modified" text in the corresponding package.
2) Java Patches are cumulative, which means that higher Patch contains all corrections of lower Patches.([SAP Note 1249886|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1249886])

SAP BW Standard DataSources not fetching records after SP12 upgrade on ECC Side

Hi All,
Few days back we had a SP 12 on ECC side.
Since then we are unable to load data through 0WBS_ELEMT_ATTR & 0PROJECT.
Even in RSA3 we are not able to get any records. After running for few minutes It just returns zero records.
Our BW system is SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP 7.31.
ECC system is EHP6 FOR SAP ERP 6.0
Please help us to solve the issue.

Please activate the datasources again in RSA5 and then try extracting from RSA3. You may have to regenrate the program for the extracts.

SAP Netweaver 7.3 BI and ECC 6.0 across different OS

Hello all,
We are currently upgrading to ECC 6.0 EHP 5 on AIX/Oracle 11g. Our Business Intelligence team would like to run Netweaver 7.3 BI along with BOBJ 4.0 and Data Services 4.0 on Windows Server 2008.
I was just wondering whether this was possible for integration, or whether we would encounter any sort of interoperability issues? Any help or notes on interoperability would be greatly appreciated.

Integration between SAP NetWeaver BW and SAP ERP (ECC) is at an application level so there is no problem with the solutions being on a different OS or DB. There are no specific notes as this is standard functionality of the exactor framework (RFC based) and its connection to BW DataSources.

You do not need Netweaver 7.2 CE for using NWBC 3.0. You just need netweaver 7.02.
You simply need to apply enhancement package 2 on your existing 7.01 system to make it 7.02.

The SAP NetWeaver Application Server (SAP NetWeaver AS) defines the runtime environment both for Java- and ABAP-based applications in SAP NetWeaver. We refer to the Java-related parts of the server as SAP NetWeaver AS Java. The main part of SAP NetWeaver AS Java is the SAP J2EE Engine, a complete runtime system that can host applications in compliance with the J2EE 1.3 standard.
The SAP J2EE Engine supports all the techniques that became popularized by J2EE - JavaServer Pages, servlets, Enterprise JavaBeans (EJBs), etc. - so that applications can be ported with minimal effort to SAP NetWeaver AS Java. We are planning for an upgrade from ECC 5 to ECC 6. As some obsolete statements like "Use of header line" is no more supported in ECC 6, do we need to manually change in all custom programs and FMs? Or is there available a tool to do so? or will SAP as part of the upgrade do the necessary. Because this is a huge effort

Hi,
It has to be manually done for each and every program.
Probably your company can check if there are any third party vendor tools that does the conversion, but anyways someone has to manually check the programs and test all of them.
