Upgrade to Edge 4.0

I am currently running Edge 3.1 and we are thinking about upgrading to Edge 4.0.  Is that just an upgrade that can use the License keys from my 3.1 installation or do we physically have to purchase new License keys for 4.0.
I can see the files to download from my SAP Service Marketplace so I am thinking (hoping) it is just an upgrade using the same keys.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I'm thinking in the same direction.
But I have a question to the test version of BO Edge. I've downloaded the files of BO Edge. As I wanted to start the installation I recognized that he wants to install Version 3.1 (stands in popup window).
So I haven't the chance of downloading BO Edge 4.0?
Thanks in advance.

  • Why can you NOT get a straight forward answer on upgrading to Edge?

On Saturday morning I called customer care with a SIMPLE question about how the Edge Program works. The lady I spoke with gave me information that didn't make sense and told me one of my lines could move to edge and the other could only after 6 months of on-time payments. That didn't make sense to me, how could one be eligible and not the other when the explanation of WHEN would be eligible is contingent upon 6 months payments. I was so irritated I started shopping at other carriers to see what their "Edge" like programs work like and was considering switching carriers. So, I called back and spoke with another guy to find out what my ETF's were and he informed me that I COULD upgrade both lines to a Note 4 for about $5 above what my bill is a mo. each with all of the discounts applied. I told him that I would go to a Verizon store and probably upgrade instead of cancelling. So, I went to the store and was treated TERRIBLY!! I was told that I could not move both of my lines to the edge program with the Note 4. I was told I could move to Edge with both lines but one would have to be a Droid and the other could be whatever phone I wanted. I was blown away with yet another piece of information that was not matching up with what I was told. He said I could call customer care and see if they could do anything. I was BLOWN away that a corporate Verizon store would just turn me away (which was extremely demeaning and embarrassing in front of their other customers) to call customer care again and tell me my best option would be to cancel if I wanted a new phone for the line I wanted to upgrade. So, I called customer care again and spoke with another lady who correctly informed me (I think) of how it works and stated there was nothing she could do on the line that was not eligible which should have been told in the previous conversation with the guy I spoke with. One thing struck me as odd, she said the phone is on a lease with Edge so the phone is never yours, which is something NO ONE mentioned at any point in any prior conversation. So, is that true? I now know where I stand with upgrading but my original questions about how Edge works are still not fully answered and what the last rep stated brings up other questions. If it's "leased" what happens if it's broken or lost? Anyway, I was looking for what I thought was a straight forward answer to a question about how Edge works, how much it costs, and are my lines eligible, etc. and wasted a good hour on the phone and another two driving to a store just to get turned away like as though no one even cared! The last lady I spoke with seemed to care but I'm blown away with the TERRIBLE customer service and COMPLETE lack of ownership. Why can no one take the feedback and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT and then answer my questions about the Edge program. Bottom line, I'm not looking for a freebie upgrade (though maybe I should for all of the time wasted due to incorrect/inaccurate information). but I'm blown away that no one wants to do anything.
That all being said, can someone on here explain how Edge works with the discounts and is the phone really a "leased" phone? Pretty sad that I'm resorting to forums to ask other customers how it works but would appreciate any info anyone can share. I'm probably going to port both of my numbers to AT&T if it is true they are a lease and due to all of the terrible customer service.

I just saw in another post that if it's an "early" edge I would have to turn in the phones. No one told me that either and now I wonder if just forget Edge and port out. What's the advantage of doing Edge with all this confusion and red tape? Is an early edge considered early if you're upgrading with Edge prior to the contract end on the current phone? Verizon Customer Care and Stores REALLY NEED to be up front about this stuff! From what I see here and what others are going through Edge is a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE program.

  • Upgrade from EDGE 3.0 -- EDGE 3.1: What to do with the new SAP transports?

    Hello together,
we upgraded our EDGE 3.0 System to EDGE 3.1.
Also we upgraded the SAP integration kit.
    Everything seems to work fine.
With the EDGE 3.1 Integration pack there are also new SAP transports included.
Now there are a few questions. Hope someone can help me with this
Do we have to import them?
Can we still use the "old" transports already imported in SAP?
Can we just "override" the "old" transports?
Is there an performance improvement (especially with WebI) with the new transports?
    Thanks very much in advance!
    With kind regards
    Sebastian

    Ingo,
If I do a fresh install of BOXI 3.1 Edge SP2...do I have to import the original transports or can I go directly to the SP2 "version" of the transports?
    Thanks.

  • Upgrading from Edge 3.0 to edge 3.1

    Hi,
If we consider upgrading from edge 3.0 to 3.1 what are the implications with the data/database?
I am aware that we would have to completely uninstall 3.0 and install 3.1 and I am fine with that concept.  However, what I would like to know is:
    1. can I simply point the 3.1 application to the 3.0 database and it will work?
    2. what happens to the reports which already exist in our 3.0 implementation?
    3. what other considerations need to be made?
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Many Thanks.

    Hi,
I think it should be ok, we only use it for basic presentation of Crystal Reports at present.
I will check out the documentation for the Import Wizard.
We are using a Windows environment and were hoping to take advantage of WACS although I am still not sure it is as secure as Tomcat - that will be a question for another post
    Thanks,
    David

  • Upgrading to Edge and keeping old phones...

I have 2 phones that are under contract and paid in full, 23 months of the 24  months right now. I'm interested in switching to EDGE, but I learned they want me to give them my phones that are far paid off. Currently, we've paid around 2200$ towards the 900$ in cell phones. I understand you pay more with subsidiaries blah blah. I wasn't asking for a waiver of the contract. I was asking to be  allowed to pay off my last month in the contract today and sign up for EDGE and be able to keep the old phones. I assumed there's no way they would say no, I'm willing to pay 170$ immediately and switch to a plan where I pay 50$ more a month...what company would ever say no to this??  Verizon would.
This whole switch was stemmed from getting stopped by a rep from at&t that was giving money to buy out people's contracts with Verizon and they offered a similar plan for new phones. The trouble is, their service isn't as good in the area I live and so I looked into what Verizon was offering currently. I was excited when I noticed the same offerings over here and disappointed when striking out online and in a local store front.  We were looking to switch to some water resistant phones before our family trip to the Pacific coastline.
Has anyone ever had any luck with customer support in a similar situation. Again, just looking to pay off my last month now and upgrade to new phones on EDGE without turning in my old phones.

Funny thing about that is people with less than 10 GB of data allowance are only paying $10/month of the line access fee towards "paying off their phone" while people with 10 GB or more of data allowance are paying $25/month of the line access fee towards "paying off their phone".
Verizon must like the people better who have a lower data allowance since a smaller portion of their line access fee is going towards "paying off their phone".
Unfortunately, some of the competitors have the same pricing schedule.

  • Window 8.1 upgrade and Edge 1.5.0

I am still working with Edge version 1.5 (free software version) and have a serious amount of  Animate files which I preview using Chrome.  Recently, I upgraded my operating system to Windows 8.1 and now - it would seem - that none of the files will preview in the browser.  Loading of the files also seem sluggish.   I tried a couple of browsers to check - the usual suspects - but the Edge files v 1.5 will not load and preview.
You can imagine my pain.  Ouch ouch! doesn't even cover it.  I was just wondering if anybody out there is experienencing a similar problem and can help.  I can only think that Edge A version 1.5 files are in conflict with the Windows 8.1 upgrade in some way?  If anybody can throw some light on this mucho appreciated amigoes.

Thank you for your kind reply.  I have read the blog concerning compatibility issues with ei11 and can see that it may apply to my situation but I not totally convinced.  Can you please advise me on my concerns.  One solution on offer in the blog is to download Animate CC 2.0.1 and resave (none of my files have been published - I'm not there just yet).  I believe my cloud membership will allow me to trial Animate CC so I could resave all my files from a previous1.5.0 version.  So my question is this, if I resave my files in Animate CC 2.0.1 will they still open in the previous 1.5 version ? after the trail runs out?
I only ask because at this point I am unable to commit to the paid Animate CC software just yet.  If the resaved files will open then I will give it a go as this seems the simplest way to solve the preview in browser issue I am experiencing. Thanks much appriciated.

  • I just upgraded to Edge, do I have to send in my old phone?

The line that I signed up for Edge on was ready to upgrade (either new 2-year or Edge). I didn't receive a return slip or bag to send in my old iPhone. Do I have to send it in, or can I keep it?

Great question rmccoy34 and congratulations on the purchase of a new phone. If you were eligible for either a new 2 year upgrade or joining Edge, you will not have to turn in your old phone. You can trade it in http://vz.to/1uNPDOF if you like to receive the value that is assigned for the phone however it does not have to be traded in. You would only need to do so when you are attempting to Edge up to another phone. I certainly hope this helps and again, enjoy your new phone.

  • IPhone 6 Plus upgrade with edge. help please!

Hi, im looking to upgrade to the iphone 6 plus. i am currently on 2 year agreement and my first year will be 9/21/14.  Should i be able to upgrade using the edge program? and do i have to trade in my smartphone that i got with my 2 year contract or can i keep it?

        Cameron1722,
That is awesome that you are shopping for upgrade options! You are in a great spot where you can chose to do another 2 year agreement. If you chose this option, you can trade-in your device and get a gift card to use towards your purchase. You can also keep your phone if you would like and you would not process a trade in. You can also use our Edge program as well, if you are eligible. You can check your Edge eligibility online via your My Verizon account. You have quite a few options and all you would need to do is select which one works best for you!

  • Upgrade ThiinkPad Edge 14?

I have a ThinkPad Edge 14, Model 0578-26U, 4GB RAM, 500GB HD,  purchased almost five years ago. I have acquired a 512 GB SSD to replace the original hard drive, and an 8GB SODIMM to upgrade the RAM. I have installed these components and the BIOS reocgnizes them, but the machine will not boot with either or both of them installed.  When I re-install the factory components, everything is fine again. I have done many PC builds and upgrades over the years, and this is the first time I have seen anything like this.  The folks at the store where I purchased the computer couldn't tell me what the problem is unless I wanted to pay them $200 to see whether they can figure it out.
I have downloaded the hardware maintenance manual from Lenovo and it seems to suggest that a "hardware maintenance disk" or "hardware maintenance key" is required to replace any system components.  Can anyone explain to me whether this is actually necessary?  If so, is it possible for an end-user to obtain this?
    Many thanks.

this can be marked as solved.
the doccumentation on lenovos site lumps all the edge 14's together, intel and amd, and the sub model listings are confusing, turns out this card is in fact NOT compatable with the 0199 sub model, and the fact that "widi" drivers show up for the edge 14 furthur lead to the confusion.
lenovo, quit that! only show information relevant to the machine type, other wise people waste money on things not compatable, or at least make the information more clear. thank you.

  • Returning old device when upgrading with Edge?

I have had issues getting a return label so that I can send in my old device as per the Edge agreement. I've gone down to the local store multiple times, they hadn't received the return labels they had "on order". I attempted to print one off of MyVerizon online, but every time I tried, the link wasn't working. It was day 14 yesterday, from when I got the new phone, and I finally was able to get a return envelope and label from my local store this morning, but now I need to find out what all goes in the envelope. Certainly, I cannot just put my old phone in there with out paperwork or documentation? I want to make sure it is credited correctly to my account, and, unfortunately, my husband through away the original paperwork. I just spent almost ten minutes calling in to customer service, when it dropped me off of hold, and went to a busy signal. I have searched through the FAQs for answers with no luck. Please help?!?

I'm so sorry you had such a hard time returning your device sweetpea1384. We do our best to make this process easy so that you can manager your account options without any issues. You will need your original receipt so that we know who the phone belongs to and why you're returning it. We have to send you a Edge device return bag. We need to note your account and process a return for your phone. We will need to speak with you. You can chat with us, converse with us on facebook, twitter, or call us at *611 from your phone or 1-800-922-0204. You can also send us a private message here. We simply need to get some information so that your not sending your phone to us and we are unable to scan it in for the proper reasoning.

  • I just upgraded to the Edge program, do I need to turn in my old phone that I purchased a year ago, or can I trade it in for credit towards my new device?

I just upgraded to the Edge program, do I need to turn in my old phone that I purchase?
Im confused because I got my new phone in the mail, and the instructions say to return my old phone, which I did not receive under the Edge program.

    alexakutlik wrote:
Yes I did an early upgrade through Edge, had 8 months left on my contract. My old phone was a subsidized upgrade.
Then yes you have to send the phone back.

  • Can I merge several different Verizon plans (different family members each have own plans) into one plan (i.e. can I take over all their lines), if all lines on all plans are on Edge?

I was originally told by Verizon that if I joined, I can eventually take over the lines of various family members.  Now that I've joined, and my family members all upgraded their phones and are on Edge, Verizon is telling us that we can't merge into one plan (because Edge lines can't be transferred to another account).
Is this true, and, if so, what is my recourse since I was lied to.

Well, yes and no (as far as being lied to).  I asked on several occasions (I have the chat transcripts to prove it) if there would be any issue if the lines were all already on Edge, and was told each time that under no circumstances would there be any issue.  The latest being today (I know it's after the fact, but I wanted proof that this is what the chat people are saying).  I asked "I have currently have an account with 3 phones on Edge.  My brother and his wife, and my parents, also have plans all on Edge.  I would like to 'take over' their lines.  I want to make sure there is no issue with the Edge plan and that I can simply 'take over' their lines with no problems."  I was told "Yes. That would be correct."  Again, this is what I was told in the past as well (my original post didn't make clear the timing of the chats and upgrades to Edge..).  Every time I chatted I mentioned that the accounts were going to be on Edge or (later on) were already on Edge.  Even before my family members upgraded to Edge, not one single chat or phone representative (and my brother asked the same thing in a store) mentioned NOT to upgrade to Edge because it couldn't be transferred.  Everyone just said yep, no problem.  The ONLY reason I even joined Verizon (I was on Straight Talk) was because of the More Everything and Edge plans (we wanted a family plan with 6 people and over 10GB so we'd each save $25/line).  Otherwise I never would have joined Verizon and my family wouldn't have upgraded either.

  • Who can I talk to that can help me decide Edge over Contracts and new phones?

My phone is due for an upgrade. I have two other phones on my contract but their phones aren't eligible until July 14 and June 15. I want a breakdown of both the contract more everything plan and the edge more everything plan. I would like to try and sync all three phones together with the same date for renewal. I spoke to a customer service rep last night who told me it would e 180 for three new phones and monthly total charges for what I wanted. She did not email as she indicated she would with all the breakdowns for what I asked for. Is there anyone at verizon that knows what they are doing? You keep saying you don't want to lose customers but if this is the way you do business, it isn't any wonder people are leaving. I am very frustrated and have been a customer for well over 15 years.
    Help please.

What breakdown do you want. If you look on the website, the monthly Edge price is listed next to each phone. The one time contract price is listed next to each phone. Information on the More Everything plan is listed HERE. If entering into a new contract, there is a $30 upgrade fee for each line upgrading on contract.
If you purchase a phone on the Edge plan and have less than 10 GB monthly allowance, you will get a $10/month discount on your phone access fee. If you have 10 GB or more monthly allowance, you will get a $25/month discount on your phone access fee.
If you want to sync all three phones together with the same date for renewal, it sounds as if you want to enter into a contract. To do so, you would have to wait until your other 2 phones have completed their contracts and then purchase 3 new phones at the same time. Then you would be able to get a discounted upgrade again on all 3 lines in 2 years.
If you want to sync on the Edge plan, you could currently upgrade all 3 lines. With the 2 lines still under contract, you would have to return them to Verizon in good working order to upgrade onto the Edge plan. With the line out of contract, you would not have to return the phone to Verizon. You would then be able to upgrade again on all 3 lines in as little as 30 days, once you have paid off 50% of your phones cost. If upgrading before 12 months, you would have a baloon payment on each of the phones to bring the total of your payments up to 50% of the phone's cost. Once you reach the 12 month point in your payments, you will have already paid 50% of the phone's cost and would therefore not have the balloon payment. When upgrading on Edge, you will have to return the phones in good working order to upgrade. Once you have completed your Edge payments, though, you would be able to keep the phone.
