Upgrade to element 10 from 6

I dowlaod the elements 10 upgrade successfully but now it is on my desk top. It did not upgrade my elemnts 6. What should I do?

Separate versions install to separate folders and never overwrite older versions. If you wanan get rid of v6, you need to explicitly uninstall it. Ask on the PSE forum how to migrate your catalogs/ collections.

I purchased an upgrade --- Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 upgraded to Elements 10. Apparently I did download 10 successfully. However, when I log into my existing Elements 8 to upgrade, I receive a message saying essentially it would not install (forget the exact verbage). How do I "merge" and update? I'm not a Geek, I might add so if someone has infinite patience and can guide me through this, I would truly appreciate it. It would be excellent to have a tech do this in "real time". Thanks.

If you have the downloaded Elements 10 icon on your computer, please click on it to initiate the upgrade installation.
It will first try to check for a qualifying previous version installed on your computer (which is Elements 8 in this scenario). If it cannot detect the same, it will ask you to input the serial number for Elements 8.
The installation of the upgrade should proceed after that.

Once you click on the link, you will see 2 drop down menus asking you to define the problem you are facing.
Choose "I am having trouble downloading or installing my software" in the first drop down and "I am trying to use a single user product I bought from Adobe or another merchant" in the second.
Once done, you will have an option to chat with a support representative. On this page, to the right, you will also have support phone numbers if you wish to call.

Upgrade to elements 13 and video doesn't work Error box says no compresser/decompresser codec on system. Have it on 12.

I just upgraded from Elements 8 to Elements 11 but after the install, I now have both 8 and 11 on my computer. I would have thought I would only have 11. Do I need to uninstall 8? - Thanks

They are independent programs. No need to uninstalll, unless you are pressed for disk space.
Don't be in a hurry to uninstall PSEv.8. You need to be sure that you still have full access to the organizer (if you use it), copy brushes that you have downloaded, etc.

I upgraded to Elements 12 from Elements 8 and now the Organizer locks up just as it is starting.

Organizer first shows a box stating "restoring People Recognition Data" and then "Elements 12 has stopped working". I am using Windows 8.

Is that a large catalog from some previous version that is opened by default?

Same issue. I have multiple ATV2 and ATV3 - none could access home sharing after updating to 11.1.
I've learned my lesson from previous iTunes updates, so I always have a backup of my library. So I uninstalled 11.1 and deleted every iTunes folder I could find on my drive (important because I didn't do this the first time, and home sharing did not work). Then I restored my library from backup (iTunes folder), and installed iTunes 11.0.5. Home sharing works, with:
ATV3 with updates
ATV2 with updates
ATV3 without updates
ATV2 without updates (not tested yet)
Yea, so something is wrong with iTunes 11.1 with home sharing. Hopefully Apple will address. If not, hopefully they will support 11.1 for a very long time.

You can upgrade to Elements 12 from any previous version. Just purchase the version you require from either the Adobe website or a store of your choice as either individual programs or as a bundle.

A quick check on the internet however has indicated that Dreamweaver CS3 will run Windows 8.

Opening Raw Files on Elements 12 from Nikon D7100

I have upgraded to Elements 12 from 10 when I recently bought a new camera. However, RAW files from the new Nikon D7100 will not open. I get the error message that the file format is not supported. I have checked and it is and I have downloaded all the updates. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program and am now at a loss as to what to try next. Any ideas and assistance would be appreciated

The D7100 was supported by PSE 11 so PSE 12 should be able to read them.
The most probable reason for you not being able to read them is that you used old Nikon software to download the images - this is known to corrupt the files.

It's important to keep in mind that the picture files are NOT stored in the Organizer. They are not stored in Lightroom or Bridge either...
The organizer is based on a catalog which stores the pictures properties, mainly the location of the pictures on your drive(s). It's the same idea of catalogs in Lightroom, and the nice thing is that Lightroom can convert organizer catalogs to its own format. The most obvious way for you will be to use Lightroom.
Bridge is a file browser which is a different way than to use catalogs.

Elements version 5 was made obsolete by Elements 6 back in 2007. The T3i was only released 2-3 years ago. Adobe was up to Elements version 9 or 10 by then. Every camera has its own particular camera raw software, and Adobe has to write an update for the software to work with each new camera's RAW files. And Adobe stops updating the old versions to work with new cameras when the next version of Elements/Lightroom come out.
I had to buy Lightroom 4 only 6 months after I had bought Lightroom 3 when I bought a new camera. The older version would not, and never will, work with the RAW files from my 6D.
You could, I believe, use DPP to convert the RAW files before exporting them into Elements 5, but personally I would just take this as a cue that it is time to get Elements 11. Or Lightroom 5. I personally prefer Lightroom.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Hello again. When I said PSE 12 was an upgrade on CS2, I meant that simply from an informal point of view - and it is: it's better software in most respects. In expert mode, the features and functions are much the same as in the CS2 I had before, but enhanced and slicker. Less 16 bit colour depth and a few other things of course. Unfortunately, as it now transpires, the "few other things" has turned out to include the measuring feature.
Thanks for the work-around - only problem is ... to what Info Panel are you referring when using the line tool? I've looked around but can't see the line length being shown anywhere. Thanks in advance for any light you might be able to cast on it.
Incidentally, I upgraded my written-off Canon D5 MK II with a D6. To me it's an upgrade - it's a much better camera - though by the letter of the law, the strict upgrade path would be to a 5D MK III. One can use the word "upgrade" in this informal (but entirely meaningful) sense, I hope, without being sent to prison!!

don't worry, I for my part I have on my computer more of these earlierer (outdated) Adobe programs, to see the difference or for some other reasons. Try them out for a while and then decide, whether you need the both.

Purchased the upgrade to elements 12, cannot install from download.

I purchased the upgrade to Elements 12 for Ohotoshop and Preimere. It wil not install. I havew been working on this for the past couple of hours.

I tried again and did manage t download and install the Photoshop. However, apparently the Photoshop has been downloaded but I do not know where. Where do you think it was placed? How do I convert it and install it for operation?
