Upgrade to FIN9.1/Oracle 11.2.0.3EE

Hi everyone,
I am new to the PSoft forum and actually new to PeopleSoft. My background is mostly Oracle DBA.
We are in the planning of upgrading Financials:
FROM: Fin release 8.9 with tools release 8.49 + Oracle 10.2.0.5 EE 64 bit
TO: Fin release 9.1 FP2 with tools release 8.5 + Oracle 11.2.0.3 EE 64bit
I realize Oracle 11.2 has improvement of CBO stats and optimizer behaves a bit differently than 10.2.
I wonder anyone in the forum that had done or is undergoing FIN upgrade 9.1 has any issues or info. about performance issues, tips?
Many thanks!
Joy

  • Using DS 4.2 repo manager to upgrade a repository in oracle 10g?

    Hello Experts,
The DS 4.2 PAM states that oracle 10g is no more supported as a local repository. I have a couple of DS 3.x local repositories on oracle 10g.  Will the DS 4.2 repository manager allow to upgrade these 3.1 oracle 10g local repositories? i dont have a DS 4.2 environment so can't test it at my end , anyone out there whose been successful?

I didn't mean that, because i have not actually done it. According to their installation document you can configure with oracle 10g as well.

Anyone upgraded their nodes in their cluster from 32 bit OS to 64 bit - and also upgraded their 32 bit oracle 10.1.0.5 to 64 bit 10.2.0.2?
Anyone have a good draft on how to complete this task?

    I haven't did this one.
You need to install fresh instead upgrade as the Oracle binaires will be different for 32 and 64. Database file conversion, you may rman. I believe, rman have some option to convert different OS bit format.

  • Is it possible to upgrade only apache in oracle 10g application server.

    Hi All,
I have to upgrade only apache in oracle 10g application server with out upgrading oracle 10g as.
Is it possibel to upgrade only apache version in oracle 10g application server. if yes.could you suggest the steps that i need to follow.
    This is very urgent.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Sathya

If your trying to upgrade just apache in that oracle home, then no. If your trying to upgrade to a real apache version, from apache.org, mod_oc4j won't work. You need to use Oracle's version of Apache or HTTP Server.
Is there a reason you only want to upgrade Apache and not the whole oracle home?
There are ways to do it, but it wouldn't be supported by Oracle and I wouldn't recommend that either.

  • How to upgrade JRE version for Oracle BPEL process manager

    Dear Experts,
Is it possible to upgrade JRE version of Oracle BPEL ??. If so means then how it is possible ?? what are the measures should I take to achieve the same. Please suggest me. Its very urgent.
    Thanks,
    Rajesh A

    Hi Rajesh ,
First of all be aware that not all versions of 10.1.3 AS are certified with JDK 6, you need to have at least 10.1.3.4 .
Next, you can either upgrade the JDK for the whole AS, or just for oc4j_soa component.
There are several docs on Metalink that explain how to do this, and I recommend to take a backup of your OH before changing the JDK .
Suppose you already have JDK 6 installed , just edit opmn.xml and add the line
<data id="java-bin" value="/usr/jdk1.6.0/bin/java"/> <--- here put the path to your JDK
    just below
    <category id="start-parameters">
    of the oc4j_soa component.
If you have problems just restore the old opmn.xml from backup and you;ll have back your original settings.

    Mihai

  • Upgrading Application Express on Oracle XE (installed on Ubuntu 8.04)

I'd installed on my laptop (OP is Ubuntu 8.04) Oracle XE and is wotking quite fine.
But I really like to upgrade apex to last version (3.1.2). I read documentation but are not many information about how to upgrade.
    Daniel

    Thanks Arie,
On whatever version of Windows I've updated without problems Application Express.
I'm talking here about Ubuntu (a debian distribution of Linux).
My problem is where to unzip apex, where to use sqlplus command prompt etc., because is different than Windows.
If you don't have DBA rights on the account (user account other than root) you have errors in installation process and more.
For example they say in doc...:0
"To run the apxconf.sql configuration script:
    1. Change your working directory to ORACLE_BASE\ORACLE_HOME\apex or whatever convention used to indicate the Oracle home.
    2. Start SQL*Plus and connect to the database where Oracle Application Express is installed as SYS. For example:
    * On Windows:
    SYSTEM_DRIVE:\ sqlplus /nolog
    SQL&gt; CONNECT SYS as SYSDBA
    Enter password: SYS_password
    * On UNIX and Linux:
    $ sqlplus /nolog
    SQL&gt; CONNECT SYS as SYSDBA
    Enter password: SYS_password".....
When you install Oracle what version you need, OP (Linux) create a different user account for Oracle. Usually if you want to use your account like dba for oracle, you need to give to that account the proper rights.
So, I need a installation rutine (for upgrading) for apex on Linux.

  • Upgrade of Database with Oracle Change Data Capture

    Hello,
We are upgrading and moving our database to a different server.
The move is from 10G R1 database on Solaris to 11G R2 on Linux.
Our database uses Oracle Change Data Capture.
What is the best way to perform this migration? Unlike in the approach below, ideally, it would be without any manual steps to drop and recreate CDC subscriptions, change tables, etc.
    Thanks.
Considerations for Exporting and Importing Change Data Capture Objects
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B13789_01/server.101/b10736/cdc.htm#i1027532
Starting in Oracle Databse 10g, Oracle Data Pump is the supported export and import utility for Change Data Capture. Change Data Capture change sources, change sets, change tables, and subscriptions are exported and imported by the Oracle Data Pump expdp and impdp commands with the following restrictions:
After a Data Pump full database import operation completes for a database containing AutoLog Change Data Capture objects, the following steps must be performed to restore these objects:
    1. The publisher must manually drop the change tables with the SQL DROP TABLE command. This is needed because the tables are imported without the accompanying Change Data Capture metadata.
    2. The publisher must re-create the AutoLog change sources, change sets, and change tables using the appropriate DBMS_CDC_PUBLISH procedures.
    3. Subscribers must re-create their subscriptions to the AutoLog change sets.

    Hello,
I opened SR with Oracle Support, they are suggesting to perform full database import/export
Change Data Capture change sources, change sets, change tables, and subscriptions are exported and imported by the Oracle Data Pump expdp and impdp commands with the following restrictions.
Change Data Capture objects are exported and imported only as part of full database export and import operations (those in which the expdp and impdb commands specify the FULL=y parameter). Schema-level import and export operations include some underlying objects (for example, the table underlying a change table), but not the Change Data Capture metadata needed for change data capture to occur."
    CDC has different implementation methods:
You may use the below query to determine-
    select SOURCE_NAME, SOURCE_DESCRIPTION, CREATED, SOURCE_TYPE, SOURCE_DATABASE, SOURCE_ENABLED from change_sources;
    – Synchronous CDC: with this implementation method you capture changes
synchronously on the source database into change tables. This method uses
internal database triggers to enable CDC. Capturing the change is part of the
original transaction that introduces the change thus impacting the performance
    of the transaction.
    – Asynchronous Autolog CDC: this implementation method requires a staging
database separate from the source database. Asynchronous Autolog CDC uses
the database's redo transport services to transport redo log information from
the source database to the staging database1. Changes are captured at the
staging database. The impact to the source system is minimal, but there is some
latency between the original transaction and the change being captured.
    As suggested in the document-
Change Data Capture objects are exported and imported only as part of full database export and import operations (those in which the expdp and impdb commands specify the FULL=y parameter). Schema-level import and export
operations include some underlying objects (for example, the table underlying a change table), but not the Change Data Capture metadata needed for change data capture to occur.
    ■ AutoLog change sources, change sets, and change tables are not supported.
Starting in Oracle Database 10g, Oracle Data Pump is the supported export and import utility for Change Data Capture.
Re-Creating AutoLog Change Data Capture Objects After an Import Operation
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14223/cdc.htm#i1027532
After a Data Pump full database import operation completes for a database containing AutoLog Change Data Capture objects, the following steps must be performed to restore these objects:
    a. The publisher must manually drop the database objects underlying AutoLog Change Data Capture objects.
    b. The publisher must re-create the AutoLog change sources, change sets, and change tables using the appropriate DBMS_CDC_PUBLISH procedures.
    c. Subscribers must re-create their subscriptions to the AutoLog change sets.

  • Upgrade base installation of Oracle Developer 6i to patch 18

    Hi all,
I was wondering what are the steps needed to get a base install of Oracle Developer 6i Reports to patch 18. What I mean by that is, or are all the previous patches included in this patch, or do I need to do a step by step patch update to the base install to get it to patch 18. Could someone please help me regarding this. Your help is most appreciated.
    Cheers
    Rodney

so, canot use dev 6i?I'm afraid you can't. Not certified doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, but if you have problems, you're on your own...
Of course you have two solutions : use 10g DB, or upgrade your forms to 10g. What's the problem for the latter ?

    Hi Michael
Sorry to open your old thread.
Would you mind sharing your upgrade experience on 32 bit to 64 bit?
We are planning to upgrade our CRM 4.0 (Oracle 10g + Windows 2003 32 bit)
    Source:

    CRM 4.0 (Web AS 620 + 640 kernel)
    Java 620
    Windows 64 bit
    Oracle 10g
I am bit confused about installing SAP CRM on Windows 64 bit software. I understand that you install SAP using 640 kernel for 64 bit.
I would appreciate if you can share your experience or the procedure followed.
After the 64 bit migration is completed, we will be upgrading our CRM 4.0 to CRM 2007.

  • Discoverer upgrade, when moving from Oracle AS 9i to weblogic 10.3.5

    Hi,
We have an Oracle AS 9i application server with Forms, reports and discoverer (windos 2003 32 bit).
We are planning to migrate your application server to new hardware (64 bit windows 2008) and sofware (Weblogic 10.3.5, Forms, Reports, Discoverer 11.1.1.4).
I know that we need to recompile all your forms and reports because 32 bit-->64 bit and 9i --> 11g,
but for me is not clear how to migrate oracle discoverer repository.
It will be done automatically, when we install weblogic server, or we need to do it manually?
    Thanks

    Hi,
If you are on Discoverer 9i then you will need to upgrade the EUL after you have installed Discoverer 11. To do this, install Discoverer Administrator 11i on your desktop and connect to the EUL. You will then be prompted asking whether you want to do the upgrade.
