Upgrade to GB11 to get rid of that disk too slow error?

I record 4 mics (voice only) into a m-audio fast track ultra, via USB, into the below macbook on Garage Band '09
Or at least, I would, except at 5 minutes in, I get "disk too slow" and it stops recording (although it appears to continue).
Does GB11 resolve this issue? If not...can I at all?
Thanks,
Dan

that would be highly doubtful

the best suggestion would be to get an external FireWire hard drive on which tio record, instead of the laptop's slow internal drive
