Upgrade to GB3 results in "fried" JamPacks

got complete JamPacks and they ran fine with GB2. Upgraded to GB3, and almost all loops are missing, almost all categories are greyed out, (when I click "all drums" there are only 4 loops).
So, short of re-installing all my JamPacks, is there a way to tell GB3 where to find them??

I am having the same problem but it doesnt affect all songs. for example song1 wont have access to most loops. buttons are greyed out. I can open song2 or create a new song and all loops are available again. I have moved loop folders around. I have reindexed, I have deleted the plist and cs files. I have tried everything that I can find info on here and still cant get song1 to see all loops.
There seem to be many bugs with GB3 and Apple needs to fix them quickly. I am really missing my pc with sony acid right now.

  • Can I, should I upgrade to GB3?

Okay, iLife 'o6 is available with GB 3. I got my iMac g5 this summer and have been working with GB2. It's unlikely I will be getting an Intel-chip based Mac in the near future. What is the processing of upgrading to GB3? When you upgrade how does that affect all the work you;ve done in GB2?

What is the processing of upgrading
    to GB3?
You buy iLife '06 and install it.
When you upgrade how does that affect all the
    work you;ve done in GB2?
It shouldn't, GB2 files will open in GB3. GB3 files will not open in GB2.
Unless you're interested in Podcasting,. there's very little that's new for musicians, though if you're interested in all the iLife apps, you certainly can't beat the price.

  • Upgrading to GB3 from GB1

Does anyone know of any pitfalls when upgrading to GB3. Just trying to be cautious with the work I have already recorded in GB1.
    Thanks!

There are no issues that I know of, other than once you save a file in 3, you can no longer open it in versions 2 or 1.

  • Upgrade to Mavericks results in a slow MBP

    Hi-
Upgraded my mid-2010 MBP to Mavericks a few months ago and it's been very slow (takes a long time to launch processes/switch between processes). I was hoping the speed would fall in-line after a few days like it has for so many others; unfortunately it has not. Creating a new Safari or Chrome tab also takes an inordinate amount of time.
The computer has 4GB of RAM, which is fully utilized. From ActMon, it doesn't look like I'm swapping much (or in some cases at all). I generally have ~10 Safari tabs open at once, Mail running in the background, and iTunes running in the background. If I can't get any resolution, I'll try a "dd if=/dev/zero of=/<machdd>" and start over with a USB flashdrive install.
Any help is greatly appreciated - attached is the EtreCheck.
    Thanks!
    Tim

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to gather information about the state of your computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it on this page. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the request of a stranger on a public message board. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed: Copy a line of text from this web page into the window of another application. Wait for the script to run. It usually takes a couple of minutes. Then paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page. The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. Details follow.
    4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply.
    6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking  anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in your browser, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know your password, or if you prefer not to enter it, just press return three times at the password prompt.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line "[Process completed]" to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report your results. No harm will be done.
    8. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

Question – Why do some reports with no data show “No Results The Specified criteria didn’t result in any data…” and others show a table with no data?
Scenario – I have upgraded 10g to 11g and some of my upgraded reports on the dashboard show “No Results…” when there is no data and others are empty tables. I have report upgraded from 10g that displays an empty table in 11g. When I build an 11g version of this report from scratch, it displays “No Results…”
Has anyone else seen this? Is there a problem with the upgrade or am I missing something?
NOTE – Both reports are set to display default message when no results.
    Thank you!

Update - This is a known issue in 11g and Oracle is working on a patch.

  • IOS 6 upgrade on iPhone results in black Events

After upgrading to iOS 6 on my iPhone 3GS, the photos are now disappointing.  The photos are in Photo Library.  However, in Events and Faces nothing shows but the names of events and names of faces.  There is nothing behind the thumbnails.
This is a similar problem I had in my iPad 3.  I ended up resetting the iPad; yes, erasing and redownloading everything.  It helped a lot with Events and Faces but I still have some blank Faces.  I hate to go through resetting up my iPhone.  Are there other options?

I'm frustrated with this as well, but finally found a work-around....
something about the update to ios6 is causing the problem, and it's preventing me from restoring any backup made after the update and retaining the 3g services...
to get mine to work, i had to restore the phone as if it were a new phone, and then restore again, using an old back-up, made prior to the ios6 update.
To test this, make a new backup of your current phone, then restore and setup as a new device.  test your 3g, it should work.  Then restore using the backup you just made, and sadly, the 3g won't work anymore.
if this is your issue, just restore using an old back-up made prior to the ios6 update, and even though you'll lose any data created since then, you'll at least have most of your stuff...
I have an iphone 4, factory unlocked, and experienced this trouble in europe while using Bité and Omnitel in Lithuania.
    Hope my experience helps somebody...

  • Upgrade to Itunes results in no access to Itunes Store

i am still on itunes 10.4 and when i upgrade to 10.5 or 10.6 i can no longer access the itunes store. I am running windows 7.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START>PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 n above) - START>PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES>Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • 7.3.2 Upgraded with new security upgrade with bad result

Upgraded and now have a dim terminal screen. How do I get a fully lit screen?
    Message was edited by: ricardojh

What do you mean by a "dim terminal screen"?
In the meantime, do the following if your computer is otherwise operational:
Disconnect all peripheral cables (if any) except from your keyboard and mouse
    Repair permissions via Applications/Disk Utility
RESTART the computer ..... Repair Permissions again
    Reconnect the cables
Let us know how that works out.

  • Why did my upgrade to Maverick result in my not being able to access my Documents in the previous format? Why did I not have the option to change my 'filing' system to use the new 'Tags'? Had reinstall 10.8.5 to access my Documents

Why did Maverick not enable me to access my Documents in the previous format (Grid) and when using the alternative I could not 'clik' to open them. The same applied when I tried to open documents from within my back up disc (LaCie). I had to reinstall 10.8.5 and back up from my LaCie (thankfully) to gain access to all my critical Documents? To deal with this I spent 3 and hlafg hours on telephone to Apple Support ( very helpful - but unable to resolve issues - then 3 hours in Apple Store (again very helpful but only able to assist by clearinng Maverick from my HD and reinstalling 10.8.5. Fortunately LaCie came to the resuce and I was able to back up Mac HD with all my documents but lost about one week of work....!!
Why did I not have the option when upgrading to Maverick to select the new 'Tag" system which I did not want?

10.8.5 is the lates ML edition.  I use TM and also carbon copy cloner as my second backup.  If I were you and you have a TM backup prior to Mavericks I would try another restore at bootup.  You should erase your drive first in that process using disk utitlites and then use TM to put back you apps and files.  The other choice is to do an internet recovery and then use TM to restore your apps and files.  That should fix the permissions issue.  I did the same thing and all was OK including getting my original iPhoto progam (9.4.3), iphoto11 and photos back.

  • Considering upgrading from GB3

In my experiences with garageband, I've been very happy for the most part, although I'm just recording through the line-in from my mixer. But I realize that I need more professional audio editing software. The limitations of Garageband for a serious home recording engineer are getting to me. Splicing, editing, putting effects on different parts of a song, etc...
Would purchasing Logic Express 7.2 provide me with a more professional audio software? I do plan to eventually get a firewire mixer. I'm working on a solo album, usually with multiple tracks of guitars, percussion, and vocals.

Yes, you will get far more features with Logic Express. More plug-ins, more functionality, more flexibility. Even more with Logic Pro, which, considering its features, instruments and effects processors, is IMO, a bargain.
As you're already getting successful results with GB, you already have experienced what GB can do - LE is GB on steroids, Pro more so.
Question for you though - your profile says MacBook Pro G4, which doesn't exist. Do you have a PowerBook G4, or an Intel based MacBook Pro? If you have the former, you can download a demo of Logic Express and try it out. AFAIK, the demo isn't available (yet) in Intel compatible form.
    http://www.apple.com/logicexpress/trial/
One more question: you talk about audio recording and editing. Are you planning on using virtual instruments and intensive MIDI use? If so, Logic is for you. But if your aim is really just recording and editing audio, you might be happier with ProTools (blasphemy on a Logic forum, I know).
    Good luck.

  • Upgrading to Tiger resulting in jumpy mouse

I've searched through the forums with little success, although I may have overlooked a similar topic and apologize if one already exists. I'll try to keep it as simple as possible. I have a Graphite iBook Firewire SE - 466MHz. I've already upgraded the RAM to 576MiB (maxed), replaced the DVDROM (it was all but dead anyway) with a UJDA740 Combo Drive (using PatchBurn to enable the burner functions), and put in a fresh install of OSX 10.3 (after which I fully updated all of the software). I recently decided to undertake upgrading the hard disk in preparation for installing a Tiger upgrade (not a full install, just the upgrade version). The hard disk that I chose is an 80GB Western Digital Scorpio. The upgrade went well, and Panther reinstalled perfectly. After installing all the updates, I installed the Tiger upgrade. Again all went well. This is where things get odd. After fully updating Tiger, my 'Book now has an unusual quirk. Everything works fine until I use F12 to eject the optical drive. At that point the mouse acts as though it is having trouble tracking my finger .. almost like an old mechanical mouse that has become clogged with dust and dirt. External mice don't exhibit the same problem, and a quick 'Sleep' mode will snap the trackpad out of it. I thought of it possibly being a hardware issue, but here is where it gets really weird. I can click the 'Eject' button in the bottom right corner of iTunes with absolutely no ill effects. I went back and did the installation and upgrade of the OS all over again and found that the problem crops up as soon as the 10.4.11 combo update is installed. Any ideas as to what could be causing this and how to correct it would be most appreciated. I'm not a computer genius, but do not mind getting my hands dirty (i think upgrading the hard disk says it all).

I'm a persistent type AND a glutton for punishment, so I'll jump in on this; I (as you) would like to get to the bottom of it.
Up to a few weeks ago, I had no experience whatsoever with the clamshell iBooks, but a relative asked if I could retrieve the hard drive contents of his non-working (300 MHz) tangerine. I was able to remove the drive and use an enclosure to transfer the contents to my desktop, from which I made a data DVD for him -- and that was to be the end of it.
But I became intrigued with what might be done with this computer, so I obtained a 512 MB memory card and a 120 GB drive. Before I re-assembled the unit, I partitioned the new drive and installed his original (9.1) OS -- and a clean install of 10.4.11
Using a replacement AC adapter (the adapter he had was the original problem), I was pleased (actually amazed) that the unit booted up quickly in Tiger and actually ran pretty well. The single intractable problem, however, has been the trackpad. Although it works, there are scenarios where it becomes unstable (or jittery) to the point of being virtually unusable. Those scenarios are (and certainly there may be others):
    • iTunes (the worst offender I've found) running.
    • Right edge of right hand on or near top cover while manipulating the trackpad with one finger.
(The edge of the hand is touching or near the computer cover, not the trackpad.) Misbehavior is much worse when offending apps are running. This seems to be totally absent with the left hand in a comparable position on the left of the trackpad.)
The nature of the misbehavior is this: although the cursor can be positioned with the trackpad (and speed is normal), as soon as one's finger is lifted to go to the button below the cursor jumps off the target, sometimes considerably. If the hand is held well above the computer cover, this behavior is either reduced or absent.
I've briefly looked at this with two other OS's, 9.1 (on the same computer) and 10.3.9 (on another clamshell iBook). Although I haven't studied it in great detail, my sense of things is that although the described misbehavior may be greatly less prominent, it still exists.
The fact that the right hand (only) against the cover creates or exacerbates the problem is suggestive of a "regional" capacitive coupling effect, but in disassembling and reassembling the original computer two or three times I don't immediately see why or how the right and left sides of the computer cover would be different in this respect.
I've also considered the possible role of static electricity, although the humidity levels here recently have been so high that I'm inclined to think that's not it.
In some way that's not clear to me, this could be originating from an anomaly in the trackpad itself, perhaps something common to most of them, if not all of them.
At this point, I have these questions for contributors to this thread:
    1) Is the "jittery" behavior I'm experiencing something you've seen? (Sluggish behavior is not something I've seen.)
    2) If yes, does it only occur with 10.4.11?
    3) If yes, do you think it's totally absent with other OS's?
    Thanks for any additional information.

  • Backup takes forever to complete / CAN'T UPGRADE FIRMWARE AS RESULT

I have not been able to complete a single backup of my i Pad since it takes for ever to complete, as in 10 hours passes and still not done. It never finishes.
Thus, i am unable to perform a firmware update since it tries to backup before applying the update.
    Anyone experiences this issue?

I completely agree, normal syncing allows you to cancel backup and continue to sync, but software upgrade to 4.2 does not allow you to cancel the backup. Why do we need backup anyway? Isn't all your data stored in Itunes? and why does it take 9 hours to back up 15 gigs of data? is it all being sent to California? This seems to be a serious flaw in the Ipad system. I think my only option is to empty the ipad, then update it and refill it again, but seriously why is this necessary?

  • I want to delete 4.o entirely, but I get message saying I must reboot to complete a previous upgrade: clicking restart results in perpetual hang, Any solutions?

Windows XP. Mozilla update says I successfully downloaded 4.0.
Add or Remove Programs list says I have 3.6.3
After I delete what I have, I hope to get a clean download of 4.0.

Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 20.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

is this a bug? or something that i did wrong. i need help.
    thanks.

    Hi,
Are these joins defined as outer joins in the EUL? Did you have the DisableAutoOuterJoinsOnFilters set on the old environment?
Do you have multiple detail folders in the worksheet from the same master folder?

  • Mp3 loops no longer working after upgrade.

    Heyho,
I am a podcaster, and my strategy had been to copy a default GarageBand project that already had some segments I cut from an mp3 song in a separate track for the intro and outro. After upgrading to GB3, these mp3 segments no longer play (while, say, the new vocals I have recorded in another track playback just fine). Any clue what might be causing this?
    Cordially,

    Hi Hilde,
    1. please have a look in the Visual Admin Tool -> Services -> EISConnector ans see if the SAP Connector is deployed there. if you see it there, so it is deployed.
    2. try to remove and add agian the SAP Connector (in the same place as from section one)
    3. why dont you use the last Portal Patch and J2EE patch?
    4. do you see any special exception in the Log file?
