Upgrade to ios 5 fails at restore. Iphone is stuck in recovery
downloaded the most recent ios through a connection with most up to date iTunes, the process is good until connecting for restore. The progress bar gets most of the way accross and then just stops. I even left the iPhone connected to the computer overnight and the progress bar never moved. I do not get an error message. Tried using different USB port, tried rebooting, tried turning off virus protection. Now can't use iPhone.
It is an iPhone 4, connecting to 64 bit PC running Windows Vista

I have a nearly identical problem with my Ipad 3. Mine is the left channel. I've yet to find help, but have found a number of other posts on this and other forums discussing the issue. People have tried restore, reset etc. Also, cleaning the ports with compressed air or cotton swabs. It appears to be a software issue, but no one is sure.
Along with the original poster, I'd appreciate any help.

Been using an ipad 2 without passcode for quite some time. While upgrading to ios 7, I enabled Find Iphone on the Ipad. It asked for passcode and I gave one. Now I forgot it. Connected it iTunes (on my windows 8 system) with which I sync and that too required an update as old version of itunes cannot read ios7. Problem is itunes does not want to get updated. Some vague error on not having right to write a file in ProgramData folder wheras as an admin i have full rights. Next I downloaded the install file from itunes site - no luck it would not install. Then I tried to remove itunes - it does not want to go. Am at wits end... Is the option only to restore it as a new Ipad?
Place the iPhone into recovery mode and restore the iPhone with iTunes on your computer.

Try a reset by pressing and holding the home and power buttons for 15-20 seconds.
If it still does not boot up properly, put the device in DFU mode (google it) and restore. -

ok here is the issue.
After i upgraded the IOS to IOS 6.1.2 I'm not able to use mobile internet as i have a data sim card.
As the settings provided by the service provider are not compatible with IOS 6.1.2 and the service provider cannot do anything about it, as it's something that has to be ressolved by apple. -

Have you tried doing turning the battery level display off and then General -> "Reset all settings"? You won't loose any data and that should do the trick.

Hi, my iphone 5 encountered an unknown error while updating to iOS 7 via itunes and is now stuck in recovery mode and prompts me to restore the phone when I connect it to itunes but then I would lose all my data. I DO NOT have any back ups on itunes. Is there anyway to get out of recovery mode without restoring or recover data after a restore?
Or any other suggestions please? ThanksAs pdroth said, you should have gotten a backup made when you started the update of iOS. If you cannot find a backup, and the phone is in recovery mode, there are no futher suggestions to make. To get the phone working again you have to restore. You cannot force a backup at this time since it is already in recovery mode. It will not allow anything else but a restore at this point.

I am unable to delete my photos which are synced through computer..i have upgraded to ios 7 and im using iphone 5...i tried doing it by using itunes but i cant see any photos at all...help requested
If you didn't already do so, try uninstalling iTunes and all of it's components (not just iTunes and AMDS), then reinstall iTunes, as discussed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925. Follow the article and uninstall them in the order indicated.

I upgraded to iOS 7 yesterday on my iphone and now none of my apps shows me any new message and when i open the apps it says "Connect to itunes for push notifications". Please help!!!
Same here. I don't know how to solve the problem, but I figured out a way to close the app without re-starting or resetting the phone. If you click ok and then press the home button twice really fast before the dialog box shows back up, you can put the phone in multi-tasking mode and close the app without having the shut the phone off or reset it. Anxiously awaiting the fix for this since I have several apps I use that I can access at the moment.

Before you panic, try resetting your iPhone by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists. -

It appears that upgrading to iOS 8.2 on my iPhone 4s has deleted all of my saved voicemails; is there any way I can recover them?
My carrier, VirginMobile, was unable to do anything for me. The person on the phone very politely informed me that all of my saved voicemails were lost for certain. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I could still retrieve my old voicemails? Or, how to save them in a more permanent way from now on?

IPhone 5 stuck in recovery mode while upgrading
While upgrading my iPhone 5 to ios 8.0.2, my phone got stuck in recovery mode. Tried with iTunes and it says it is still in recovery mode. First complete it and then connect with iTunes. Finally got Error message 3194. I am using latest iTunes. Phone is stuck with iTunes and connector symbol on the screen.
Me too. I now have to restore my entire phone and lost a whole bunch of info. So angry with Apple lately.
As an owner of all Apple products for computing and mobile since the 90's, I am starting to think about moving to Samsung phones. Apple is lacking in innovation and their products (and software) aren't the same quality. So sad. -

Follow the steps listed above for Error 1604. Also, discard the .ipsw file, open iTunes and attempt to download the update again. If you do not want to remove the IPSW in the original user, try restoring in a new administrator user. If the issue remains, Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.

This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection. -
After attempting to update to ios 7, my iphone is stuck in recovery mode and will not connect to the itunes software server. I have already tried the resetting with power swich and home button and plugging into computer but it says the "iPhone software update server cannot be contacted." I am locked out of my phone. Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this issue and get the phone working again. I will add that I am now trying to restore it on a different computer with a lower version of itunes, but the computer that it initially happened on had the updated itunes and gave me the same result ... nothing. Thanks for your help in advance.
Try going to recovery mode as described here. You may have to try this more than once to succeed.
Use the original iTunes that the iPhone synced with.
