Upgrade to IOS-6 on my IPAD - problems

I have an alert on my IPAD under general setting up upgrade to IOS-6.  However, it is not upgrading and I keep getting an error message and then it times out resulting in a failed upgrade to IOS-6.  Is anyone else having this issue and if so, how can I fix it?

Only ipad2 and higher can upgrade. Original iPad is stuck at 5.1

Sounds more like you have a problem with your apple id. For starters go to that page click manage my apple id and singn in. If you can't sign in reset password.
    https://appleid.apple.com
if you can sign in there, try to sign in to itunes on your computer.

I just got the iBooks update and that fixed the problem, except the book covers look like they were done in a government printing office.

I have reached the same conclusion in the mean time. I have done a bit of investgation in to other grahics cards and am seeing some that show SPDIF connections from the card to the mother board. I was not familar with SPDIF but it did a little bit of sluething. It is of course a digitally enconded voice. I am guessing that in that case the mother board ( assuming it supports this hardware option) would use this output and be able to translate that digital audio to its other audio outputs. That is a lot of guessing of course. I think my "solution" might  be a whole new desktop - a rather drastic course of action! I was in the proceess of getting ready to upgrade this machine anyway with a new graphics card (which I will now return), go to Win 7, and maybe even a new digital TV reciever,  and I don't want to throw good money after bad anyway.
    Thanks for your comments

  • After upgrading to ios 7.03 my ipad freezes, but the clock still works

Hi, after upgrading to iOS 7.03 my ipad freezes, but the clock is still running. So i reset it and it works again. I'm using the logitech solar keyboard folio with it. It has worked flawlessly before the upgrade. It seems to happen intermittently. When it first happened I had the keyboard lock on. Then the screen was black, but when connecting it to my pc, itunes could recognize the ipad and I could backup everything. It happened occasionally, so I removed the keyboard lock. This seemed to help at first, but now it freezes anyways. Only difference is I can see the background and my apps on one of the pages. And the clock is running.
    Help much appriciated.

  • HT1414 I upgraded to iOS 5 and my iPad cannot be recognized by my pc, my apple laptop or any other system.  It doesn't even sync while connected to my wireless network.  also, the iPad can only charge if I turn it off and plug it to either the wall outlet

After I upgraded to iOS 5 my pc and laptops (including the apple one) do not recognize the laptop when I connect to the USB.  The wireless function does not function either.  I cannot sync the iPad 2 anymore because of this.  Also, the only way it charges is if I lug it to the wall or pc USB and turn it off.  I was able to charge the device while it was on.  Why is this happening?  How can I fix it? If there is no fix, how can I revert back to an older iOS.  I tried using the support apple instructions but the iPad is not recognized by the pc and I cannot sync the iPad iTunes to revert back to an older iOS.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

You will have to connect your device to your computer and open iTunes in order to upgrade.

  • HT4623 How do upgrade my iOS on an older iPad?

How do I upgrade an older iPad so I can get the directtv app?

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 7.0.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.
How to Upgrade to iOS 7
The iOS 7.0 update requires around 2.5 GB of storage space, so if your iPad is almost full, you may need to clear up some space. You can check your available space in Settings -> General -> Usage.
There are two ways to upgrade to iOS 7: You can use your Wi-Fi connection, or you can connect your iPad to your PC and update through iTunes. We'll go over each method.
    To upgrade using Wi-Fi:
Note: If your iPad's battery is under 50%, you will want to plug it into your charger while performing the update.
        1.    Go into the iPad's Settings.
        2.    Locate and tap "General" from the menu on the left.
        3.    The second option from the top is "Software Update". Tap this to move into the update settings.
        4.    Tap "Download and Install". This will start the upgrade, which will take several minutes and will reboot your iPad during the process. If the Download and Install button is grayed out, trying clearing up some space. The space required by the update is mostly temporary, so you should gain most of it back after iOS 7 is installed.
        5.    Once the update is installed, you may have to run through the initial steps of setting up your iPad again. This is to account for new features and settings.
    To upgrade using iTunes:
First, connect your iPad to your PC or Mac using the cable provided when you purchased your device. This will allow iTunes to communicate with your iPad.
You will also need the latest version of iTunes. Don't worry, you will be prompted to download the latest version when you launch iTunes. Once it installs, you may be asked to setup iCloud by logging into your iTunes account. If you have a Mac, you may be prompted on whether or not you want to enable the Find my Mac feature.
Now you are ready to begin the process:
        1.    If you upgraded iTunes earlier, go ahead and launch it. (For many, it will launch automatically when you plug in your iPad.)
        2.    Once iTunes is launched, it should automatically detect that a new version of the operating system exists and prompt you to upgrade to it. Choose Cancel. Before updating, you will want to manually sync your iPad to make sure everything is up to date.
        3.    After canceling the dialog box, iTunes should automatically sync with your iPad.
        4.    If iTunes doesn't automatically sync, you can manually do it by selecting your iPad within iTunes, clicking on the File menu and choosing Sync iPad from the list.
        5.    After your iPad has been synced to iTunes, select your iPad within iTunes. You can find it on the left side menu under Devices.
        6.    From the iPad screen, click on the Update button.
        7.    After verifying that you want to update your iPad, the process will begin. It takes a few minutes to update the operating system during which time your iPad may reboot a few times.
        8.    After updating, you may be asked a few questions when your device finally boots back up. This is to account for new settings and features.

  • I just upgraded to IOS 6 and my Ipad won't connect to my network it brings up a page..."Page not found" and does not prompt me to sign into my network

I can't connect to my own network after the upgrade.  Is anyone else having this problem.

A lot of people are having this problem. A simple search on this discussion board will tell you. A bunch of solutions are offered here and there to try so have fun...
    Here is one:
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • Upgraded to iOS 5, now my iPad is stuck

Another issue, one of many...I upgraded to iOS 5, can get past set up, can't get back to settings without going back to factory settings...recevied e-mails and verified all of those...following the prompts I was led to the point of "Find My iPad"...won't accept next...I really don't want to go back to factory settings to start over...can anyone help and can anyone explain why "this is much better than Windows?"

Are these photos in the camera roll or elsewhere? Have you tried a re-set of the phone?
If all else fails, just e-mail them to yourself at work.

  • Ever since I upgraded to IOS 7 on my iPad, it does not remember my passwords, even though I check "keep me signed on".  Is there a setting somewhere that I am missing?  I did not have this issue with the previous OS.  Thank you.

Ever since I upgraded to IOS 7 on my iPad2, it does not remember my passwords, even though I check "keep me signed on".  Is there a setting somewhere that I am missing?  I did not have this issue with the previous OS.  Thank you.

Thank you, James, but I do have a WiFi connection on the iPad mini. The Numbers files update on my iPad third generation and iPhone just fine when connected to the same network.
Do you have any other suggestions?
    Thank you!

  • After upgrade with iOS 7.1 on iphone problems

After the upgrade to iOS 7.1 my 2014 Honda Odyssey cannot import my contacts.  It identifies my iphone  but the only way I can call out is to go to my iphone and touch the name and then my car system sends the call and it is on my car speakers.  I am not able to issue a voice command as it cannot import my contacts.   Is anyone else having this problem?  Kay

I too discovered the grayed out wifi after my update to 7.1, however I did a search myself.  On a Canadian website they recommended the following:
    http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/how-to/fix-wifi-greyed-out-iphone4s-ios7/
I did this and then the following:
After taking it out of the refrigerator I then put it in "Airplane" mode, then did a hard shut down by pushing the off button and home button simultaneously, waiting until the apple logo reappears.  Then my wifi showed up, I moved the button to wifi and then turned off "Airplane" mode.  This worked for me after weeks of not having wifi.
I hope this helps someone else who is just as frustrated as I was.

  • HT4623 why can't I upgrade to iOS 6 on my Ipad 1?

Some of my app upgrades require an iOS 6.1 but when I try to update my system... it says my software is up to date at iOS 5.1.1

That is the latest version for the original iPad. iOS 6 requires an iPad 2, 3rd or 4th generation, or iPad mini. The original iPad is just getting too old - likely too slow of a processor, not enough RAM, etc.
