I cannot open iPhoto after latest apple upgrade.  Getting message latest iPhoto version is not available in the US.

Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • Deployment Rule Sets do not properly launch the latest available version from the JRE6 family when the jpi-version is specified by the RIA

    Issue Summary
In Java 1.7 Update 71, Java 1.7 Update 72 and Java 1.8 Update 25 Deployment Rule Sets do not properly launch the latest available version from the JRE6 family when the jpi-version is specified by the RIA.  We've noticed this with Oracle Forms and Reports 11g where we have forms that specify Java 1.6 Update 20.  We used to be able to specify Java 1.6 Update 26 in our Ruleset, but now the only version a that works in our ruleset is Java 1.6 Update 20 which is the same version requested by the JPI-Version attribute of the jar.  The long term solution would be to upgrade Oracle Forms and Reports, however this isn't currently in the cards.

    Installed Java Versions:

    – 1.6 Update 26 b03 (both x86 and x64 however x86 is invoked)
Deployment Ruleset works as expected for both URLs
    Test 2
    Installed Java Versions:
    – 1.7 Update 72 (both x86 and x64 however x86 is invoked)
    – 1.6 Update 26 b03 (both x86 and x64 however x86 is invoked)
The RuleSet works for JavaTester.org however on internaldomain.name we get the following error:
With the trace logging turned on, I suspected the version attribute supplied by the RIA. I was able to trick Java by adding the following to my system deployment.properties file:
    deployment.javaws.jre.0.product=1.6.0_20
    deployment.javaws.jre.0.path=C\:\\Program Files (x86)\\Java\\jre6\\bin\\javaw.exe
    deployment.javaws.jre.0.enabled=true
Because the RIA requests 1.6.0_20 it matches 1.6* from the deployment ruleset sooner than 1.6.0_26. However, if 1.6.0_20 is not available 1.6.0_26 should match according to the Deployment Rule Set documentation:
    http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/technotes/guides/jweb/security/deployment_rules.html
The version of the JRE that is used is determined by the following order of precedence:
    1. The current version of the JRE is used if it is available and matches both the version attribute and the version requested by the RIA.
    2. The latest available version of the JRE is used if it matches both the version attribute and the version requested by the RIA.
    3. The current version of the JRE is used if it is available and matches the version attribute.
    4. The latest available version of the JRE is used if it matches the version attribute.
If no version is available that meets the criteria, then the RIA is blocked, and a message is shown to the user. To provide a custom message, include the message element.
    As a result:
If Java 1.6.0_20 is listed in the version requested by the RIA and 1.6.0_20 is listed in the deployment.properties file, #1 matches.
If Java 1.6.0_20 is listed in the version requested by the RIA, but 1.6.0_20 is NOT listed in the deployment.properties file the #1 SHOULD match, but doesn’t. It used to match up-to and including JRE 1.7 Update 51 however the ruleset appears to no longer match in subsequent versions.
#2 should never match with our current Deployment Ruleset. It would match if we specified 1.7* as a version in the Ruleset.xml.
#3 used to be broken as well after JRE 1.7 Update 51 however this bug has been marked as fixed. See: http://bugs.java.com/view_bug.do?bug_id=8032781
I have reproduced this issue with Java 1.7 Update 71, Java 1.7 Update 72, and Java 1.8 Update 25 when one of these versions are installed with Java 1.6 Update 26.

    The interesting parts in this post are as follows;
When an after-market graphics card is installed into a motherboard with UEFI enabled in the system BIOS, or if the system is a certified Windows 8 PC with Secure Boot enabled, the system may not boot.
UEFI is a new system BIOS feature that is provided on most new motherboards. A UEFI system BIOS is required in order for the Windows 8 Secure Boot feature to work. Secure boot is enabled by default on certified Windows 8 PCs.
In order to get the PC to boot with a graphics card that does not contain UEFI firmware, the end-user must first disable the secure boot feature in the system's SBIOS before installing the graphics card.
Note: Some system SBIOS's incorporate a feature called compatibility boot. These systems will detect a non-UEFI-enabled firmware VBIOS and allow the user to disable secure boot and then proceed with a compatibility boot. If the system contains a system SBIOS the supports compatibility boot, the user will need to disable secure boot when asked during boot process
    This leads me to believe that the BIOS update that wrecked my setup was 9SKT58A/9SJT58A, which only contains one change;
"Adds support for updating BIOS from a WIN7 BIOS to a WIN8 BIOS".
I've just ordered a cheap UEFI-compatible GT640 from Gainward, so I hope I'll be able to try that out this weekend.

  • Which is the latest iPhoto version compatible with Mountain Lion ?

Please, which is the latest iPhoto version compatible with Mountain Lion?
I just updated my OS X to 10.8.5 and still have iPhoto '11 v9.2.3. I have been unable to find if there is a newer compatible version of iPhoto; while I know that iPhoto 9.5.1 is incompatible with Mountain Lion.

Do you know where I can get it?
If you have a version of iPhoto '11 installed, try the updater, that Terence Devlin linked to. If you do not already own a version iphoto '11, buy an installer disk from for iLife '11 from Amazon or eBay. You cannot download a full installer for free, only updates.

    1. in physical connections part can i use the same work schema
    2. Can i use same contexts created or do i need to create everything as new and then try?
    Thanks,
    Rp.
    Hi,
As you mentioned that you just upgraded the database, so the data is same and schema is same you can connect with the same work schema.
Yes, you can use the same contexts , but need to do Reverse Engineering for your new database.
And about data server, i think you also have no need to create new data server, if hostname, sid and port etc are same as these were with R11(consult with your DBAs regarding it)

  • Every time I upgrade to a newer version from 3.6 it takes Firefox a long time to start from my desk top, why?

The newer versions such as 4.0 and 5.0 run fine AFTER they launch, but they take a long time to launch when I click on the icon on my desktop. All other browsers including Firefox 3.6 launch immediately, I have had my PC checked it is not the problem. Is there a patch that I need to download?

The iPhoto version that is currently available at the App Store os 9.5.1 and requires the Mavericks OS X.  The early 2008 24" iMac can run Mavericks.  Once you have Mavericks installed (it's free)  you can purchase iPhoto 9.5.1 from the App Store.
If you don't want to upgrade to Mavericks you can purchase a copy of the iLife 11 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com and install iPhoto 9.  Then up trade it to 9.4.3 via the updaters at the  Apple Downloads website: Apple - Support - Search

  • Unable to open iPhoto after installing Mavericks and latested iPhoto Version.

I have just installed Mavericks onto my Macbook Pro. The next thing I did was purchase, download and install the most recent version of iPhoto. The previous version of iPhoto was '09 Vers. 8.1.2.
I have about 300gb’s of images in my iPhoto library, which are on an external HD. When I try to launch iPhoto, I get a message saying the iPhoto library must be upgraded. So, I click on ‘upgrade’,and either a white screen with a large icon of a folder appears, but nothing else happens. One other time, before I clicked on upgrade, a gray screen with a scrolling gear appeared, but once again… nothing happens. I still can not access any of the images in my iPhoto library.
How do I get the new iPhoto version to play nice with my images?

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • After upgrading to iOS8, iPhoto Events from my Mac are out of order.

After upgrading to iOS 8, iPhoto Events from my Mac are out of order on my & my husband's iPads and iPhones.  Anyway to get back in order or do we need to revert to prior iOS?

iPhoto for iOS is no longer supported nor works in iOS 8 and has been dropped from further development by Apple.  This Apple document describes how to migrate photos from iPhoto to Photos: Migrating from iPhoto for iOS to Photos on iOS 8
It's a whole new ballgame now.  Here's some info on how the Photos apps now works.
Your photos are still on your phone.  With iOS 8 there is no My Photo Stream or Camera Roll any more.  The MPS has been replaced with the Recent Activity album.
The CR is replaced by the Collections mode.  The closest we can get to the Camera Roll is to turn off the Summarize Photos feature in the Settings/Photos & Camera pane and view the photos in the Collections/Moments window.
The photos will be in chronological order when scrolled up from the bottom of the window.
The Recent Activity album is showing the photos added in the last 30 days going back to 8/20 (today being 9/18).  In iPhoto on a Mac the My Photo Stream is showing more like 31 days, 8/19 to today, 8/20. It must be how the two devices calculate the last 30 days.
WARNING:  If you use iTunes to sync photos between your iPhone or iPad and your Mac do not activate the iCloud Drive. Doing so will kill the capability of using iTunes to sync with your mobile device and disable Documents & Data syncing for your iCloud account on OS X Mavericks and earlier Macs, as well as iOS 7 and earlier devices.

  • Iphoto hangs after upgrading to Yosemite and latest iPhoto version

It tells me the library needs upgrading, and starts to search the library. The progress bar suggests something is happening then hangs after about 99% completion. I have had to force close twice after several hours stuck at that point and then start the whole process from scratch when I restart.

Have you followed these instructions - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/Help/rebuilding%20a%20corrupted%20iphoto%20li brary.html

    Rebuilding a corrupted iPhoto library
If you have an iPhoto library that is corrupt and causing iPhoto to crash or otherwise be unusable, iPhoto Library Manager provides the ability to rebuild your library based on the information found in its library data files. Note that iPhoto also has a built-in rebuild function that can be sometimes be used to repair a corrupted library database. You can find instructions on how to use that on Apple's website at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2638 (iPhoto 6 or later) or http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2042 (iPhoto 5 or earlier).
iPhoto Library Manager's rebuild works differently, in that instead of trying to repair the library in place, it creates a brand new library and tries to reimport the entire contents of the original library into the new one, including reconstructing albums, photo metadata, etc. Note that rebuilding a library has all the same limitations as other photo transfer operations as far as what can and can't be copied between libraries. Also, depending on how badly damaged the library is, iPhoto Library Manager may or may not be able to piece together some or all of the library metadata.
To start a rebuild, select the library you would like to rebuild, then choose the "Rebuild Library" item from the "Library" menu. You will be prompted to choose a location for the rebuilt library, and whether or not you want iPLM to scavenge orphaned photos it finds in the library package. Once you've made your choices, iPLM will examine the library and rebuild the library structure and photos as best it can, then display you a preview of what it was able to find. If your library is badly damaged and the preview is missing a lot of content from the original library, this can save you from going through with a rebuild that won’t end up being of much help.
Once you've had a chance to examine the preview, if you want to go forward and create the rebuilt library, click the "Rebuild" button in the upper right. iPhoto Library Manager will create a new library and start importing the contents of the original library into the new one.
    Scavenging photos
In some cases, either the iPhoto library database is too damaged for iPhoto Library Manager to be able to salvage any information from it, or the library data is incomplete and there are photos that still exist inside the library package, but iPhoto has lost track of them. In these cases, you may want to check the "Scavenge orphaned photos" checkbox when choosing a location for the rebuilt library. After iPhoto Library Manager has read the library data as best it can, it will perform an additional pass through the package and locate any photos that are no longer referenced in the library database. Any additional photos that are found will be included in the rebuild, and a new "Scavenged Photos" album will be created in the rebuilt library containing any scavenged photos.

  • Upgrading to latest Fx version

When it comes to installing new versions of software whose current version I can continue to use without problems, I am what might be called a "last adapter." Perhaps because I've been "hurt" by buggy new versions in the past, perhaps because I'm getting old and lazy about learning new interfaces and features--whatever the reason, I'm slow to upgrade unless I'm faced with some obvious danger. So I've stuck with Firefox 3.6.x after version 4 came out, thinking I would wait until something like a version 4.2 arrived. While waiting, much to my surprise version 5 showed up!
Finally, today, after backing up my entire hard drive and updating my system software and my plug-ins, I was ready to take the plunge. For some reason, however, although I had spent the past several weeks turning down many repeated automatic invitations from Firefox to update to version 4 (but eventually accepting only security updates for versions up to 3.6.19), now, when I clicked "Check for Updates," I was told that none were available.
It occurs to me that some fuction may have been changed on the Firefox servers after one or more security upgrades had been made available for holdouts like me: maybe the "Check for Updates" function was limited to 3.6.x versions? The message I got today would make sense, then, since I have the latest version (3.6.19) installed. But this is only a guess.
At any rate, I decided to directly download version 5, which was not difficult to find. Opening the file, however, when I dragged the installer's Firefox app icon to the aliased icon of my app folder, I got this unexpected message: "A newer item named 'Firefox.app' already exists in this location. Do you want to replace it with the older one you're moving?"
Of course I immediately double-checked both the new version (newly downloaded file "Firefox 5.0.1.dmg") and the old installed version (clearly 3.6.19).
I should probably just ignore this warning message and click on "Replace," but by now I've got an "upgrade headache." It's a small pain compared to some others I've had in past years with different software, but it's a pain nonetheless.
What in the world is going on?
Basics about my system (in case it's relevant):
Mac Snow Leopard (totally up-to-date, including plug-ins)
All cookies (including Flash), caches, browsing history completely deleted immediately before today's update attempt.

The default of the pref network.http.max-connections has been increased from 30 to 256 in Firefox 6+ versions.
Try to decrease the value of the pref <b>network.http.max-connections</b> from 255 to a setting like 30 as used in Firefox 3 versions.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Extracting latest schema version from view tables

    Hi
We have a shell script, which runs sql against the oracle designer tables to extract table, column info. This used to run fina against our pre 6i designer version.
    eg
    select rtrim(lower(t.name))
         from ci_table_definitions t,ci_application_systems a
         where a.latest_version_flag = 'Y'
         and a.name = 'KERNEL_MASTER'
         and t.application_system_owned_by = a.id
         order by t.name asc;
we have upgraded to Designer 6i now and this has resulted in our script not working. The above sql complains about the fields latest_version_flag and application_system_owned_by not existing, which they don't.
Does anyone know what fields we can used to acheive the same result on the designer 6i setup?
Basically we are trying to extract the table definitions for the latest version of a schema ( we called 'KERNEL_MASTER')
    Any ideas?

Here's a copy of old Oracle Support note:190516.1 to give you some idea where to start:
Differences in the Repository API between Designer 6.0 and Designer 6i
    1) Tables SDD_ELEMENTS and SDD_STRUCTURE_ELEMENTS
In Designer 6.0, all repository elements were hold in 2 main tables called
SDD_ELEMENTS and SDD_STRUCTURE_ELEMENTS. Those tables don't exist anymore.
Any API script that references those tables will fail with the following error:
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
To avoid this error, replace the reference to SDD_ELEMENTS or
SDD_STRUCTURE_ELEMENTS by the corresponding API view CI_... (as it was
recommended in previous releases of Designer).
    2) new Columns IRID and IVID
In Designer 6.0, the elements were uniquely identified by the column ID.
In Designer 6i the column IRID (Internal Repository IDentifier) identifies the
object tree. Every element version has the same IRID, but it has a different
version label and a different version identifier, called the IVID (Internal
Version IDentifier). An IVID is unique over all versions of all elements.
To avoid select statements returning different rows for different versions of
the same object, you should define the Context Workarea before executing
    a statement (See next point).
    3) Context workarea
The result of a select from a CI_... views may include the same object several
times, because the repository includes several versions of the object.
To avoid this, you should specify the context workarea.
A workarea is a specific view on the repository which contains at most one
version of each element. In other words, a workarea is version resolved.
You can specify the context workarea by using the following PL/SQL call:
    jr_context.set_workarea('<workarea_name>');
Once done, you will work within the context of this workarea only.
    4) Column APPLICATION_SYSTEM_OWNED_BY
In Designer 6.0, all CI_... views for Primary Access Elements (PACs) included a
column APPLICATION_SYSTEM_OWNED_BY for the reference of the application system
owning the element. This column doesn't exist in Designer 6i anymore.
Any API script that includes this column will fail with the following error:
    ORA-00904: invalid column name
With Oracle Repository, the reference to the application of an element can only
be found through the table SDD_FOLDER_MEMBERS. The column MEMBER_OBJECT refers
to the IRID of the element, and the column FOLDER_REFERENCE refers to the IRID
of the folder or application system containing the element:
    CI_..............SDD_FOLDER_MEMBERS........CI_APPLICATION_SYSTEMS
    ....................FOLDER_REFERENCE >--------- IRID
    IRID ---------------<MEMBER_OBJECT
Suppose for example the following SQL that worked fine in Designer 6.0:
    select ent.name
    from ci_entities ent
    , ci_application_systems app
    where app.name = '&App_Name'
    and ent.application_system_owned_by = app.id;
This Select should be re-written like the following to run on Designer 6i:
    select ent.name
    from ci_entities ent
, sdd_folder_members mem -- the application system reference goes through sdd_folder_members
    , ci_application_systems app
    where mem.member_object = ent.irid
    and mem.folder_reference = app.irid
    and app.name = '&App_Name';
Note: this query only returns rows if the user who is executing it has been
granted SELECT privilege on application '&App_Name'

  • Upgraded to latest Firefox version and ZOOM will not stay enabled on my Win 7 64 home.

After I upgraded to the latest version of Firefox on my PC, I could no longer view the small type on the pages (i.e. my Verizon General Message Email Account). I had to constantly use the ZOOM feature to bring up the size of the printed page and there was no way that I could "save" teh optimum viewing size (like I enjoyed previously). When I exited a page (i.e. INBOX) and returned, it defaulted to a very small type.
I tried to sue the RESTORE feature, but that did not help. I would exit the Browser and return, to no avail. The print size was always too small to view. Even here I have to ZOOM in order to see what I have typed.
    PLEASE HELP !!!

  • HT1923 Hi I have tried in upgrade to latest Itunes version but I keep getting MSVCR80.dll missing notification whats all this about?/ & how do I overcome it

I have tried installing new version of itunes on my pc (windows 7 64 bit) but I keep getting an message saying MSVCR80.dll missing. Can amyone tell me how to resolve this please?

I've just (finally) managed to fix this problem today. I checked the Apple Support forums, and it seems a lot of people are having the same problem.
I rang the Apple Support line, and the very helpful man (thanks Alan!) talked me through it stage by stage. If you go to the following page on the internet: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376   it takes you through the process. WARNING - it takes a little time!
Basically, the first thing you have to do is go to your Program Files and double click on your iTunes folder. There'll be a number of files with the suffix .dll - you need to move all the .dll files from that folder to your desktop - you can simply click and drag them on the desktop..
Next, uninstall iTunes - go to Control Panel / Add/Rempve Programs and when the list comes up remove iTunes. This will take a few minutes... Then reboot your computer.
Next, go back to Control Panel / Add Remove and Remove - IN THIS ORDER -
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
    Reboot again!
Next, check in your Program Files that the iTunes folder is completely gone - if it has, great: if it hasn't, right-click on the folder and press Shift and Delete - it will say "Are you sure you want to completely remove the folder "iTunes"? Click on "Yes".
    Reboot!
Then go to the iTunes download page and voila! It should download iTunes without any problems... well it did for me.... Good luck!

  • Has anyone found that MS Word stops showing paste options after upgrading to latest Firefox version?

I recently upgraded to Firefox 26. I have a PC using Windows XP Professional SP3. I also use Microsoft Word 2007. Recently, when I copy something and paste it into a Word document, I no longer see the little button that allows me to choose paste options ("Match destination formatting", etc). Note that I have checked the box in options which says "Show paste options button".
I can't be absolutely sure of this, but I suspect the Firefox upgrade and the sudden disappearance of my paste options button are related. (This may sound unlikely, but I read on another forum that someone had the same problem after installing Skype, so maybe it's not impossible).
Has anyone else had this problem, or does anyone know of solution (whether or not related to Firefox)?
    Thanks!

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings and disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).
