Upgrade to new computer

I am upgrading to a new laptop computer (from XP pro to Vista 64), and because of previous hard drive space limitations, all of my photos are located on external hard drives. After installing LR on the new machine, I copied the catalog file over as well.
All of the files in Library mode have the message "the file appears to be unsupported or damaged" in loupe mode, and in organizer mode, they have exclamation marks indicating that there is an error writing the metadata. Also, about 15-20% of the files did not come in - there are simply grey box placeholders in the organizer and when selected, it says 'no photo selected'.
Any ideas? Thanks, Rob

  • Question about installing logic 9 upgrade on new computer

    Hello!
I just purchased a new mac pro (woo hoo... finally) and the logic 9 upgrade pack. I own Logic 8 but I'm not sure if I should install it before installing the logic 9 upgrade.
Will I miss out on any parts of the logic 8 sound library, loops, effects, etc by only installing logic 9? I have my S# and am aware installing Logic 8 is not needed, just curious if there are any advantages or disadvantages of installing.
    Thanks

My information, serial number, is not available.

You only need the serial numbers. During instal lyou will be asked for a qualifying product and then must input the serial number for LR3 as a secondary number. Mylenium

I'm trying to install Lightroom 4 upgrade on my new desktop, which does not have Lightroom 3 installed. My copy of LR 3 is 800 miles away and I will not see the box until next May.
    Please advise.

  • Music, photos, and apps lost after upgrading on new computer

Someone please help! I just upgraded 3G to 3.1.3 on new computer and lost all my music, photos, and apps. Is there anyway I can get them back. I backed up my phone before the upgrade, the phone was wiped clean, then retored to original settings, then it restored to back up, but I lost all the above in the process. Thanks Sheila

By design, the iPhone syncs iTunes-managed media content (music, videos, apps, photos) with _one and only one_ computer. That content was erased from the phone. The backup won't help - iTunes content is not backed up. You need to sync to the computer you synced to +prior to+ upgrading (the 'old computer'). Or, move your iTunes library, etc., from the old computer to the new computer and sync to that.

  • Activat CS2 upgrade to new computer

    Hi
I have CS, CS2 & Photoshop 4. All with serial numbers registered for me.
I bought the first CS full version several years ago and then purchased CS2 and Photoshop 4 as upgrades.
Last year the computer that I had all this software on died! I bought a new computer and started to install the software on my new computer.
CS went on without any problems. I then installed the CS2 upgrade and it said that I had a 30-day trial period? Which I thought was strange as I had the retail packaging for the CS2 and serial number. From what I remember I downloaded the CS2 first of all and then bought the package in the box with its serial no. to use it. A few years later I purchased the Photoshop 4 upgrade and have been using it since.
When I installed the CS2 it told me I had to activate it which I tried to do but it told me that activation for this software is now unavailable. I tried to phone Adobe directly but I did not get very far as the said they no longer supported it. I have not attempted to install the Photoshop 4 because I don't think I can install it without the CS2 installed.
Every time I try to open CS2 it just say's that my 30-day trial period is over. The CS still works fine.
I have purchased all the above software in retail packaging from the correct channels, i.e. not copies of anybody else's! I am simply trying to install software that I have purchased onto my new computer and I have all the correct packaging and serial numbers, which are registered with Adobe for me to use.
    Can anybody help?
    Thanks,
    Adrian.

    I have CS, CS2 & Photoshop 4.
Do you mean Photoshop 4 or Photoshop CS4?
I have not attempted to install the Photoshop 4 because I don't think I can install it without the CS2 installed.
You don't need a prior version installed in order to install an upgrade. Just install the upgrade (even on a computer which has never previously had any Adobe software installed), enter the upgrade serial number and then enter the serial number from the earlier qualifying version (even if that was an upgrade).
    But which Photoshop 4?

  • Upgrade on New Computer

I  have Creative Suite Premium Version 8.0 on my old EMac computer Mac OS 10.3.3. I do not want to upgrade my old computer and will not use Creative Suite on it. I have just bought a new IMac computer OS 10.7.2 and cannot install Creative Suitie Premium so I can get an upgrade for the new computer. The message I get is "You cannot open the appliction "Install Creative Suite because Power PC Plications are no longer supported."  How can I get an Upgrade for my new computer then?

You simply buy the upgrade and it asks for your old serial during install. Having the old version in place is an option, not mandatory.

    Hi,
What is the name of the Creative Suite Premium version you currently own?
Before you can buy an upgrade to the latest version, please ensure that you have the serial number to the older version handy.
You can go ahead and purchase an upgrade online on Adobe.com using this link Adobe Store or by contacting the Sales Team on 1-800-585-0774 (for North America).
The link and contact number is for North America only. You can change your location on the page and choose the relevant upgrade option available for your region.
    Hope this helps.

  • Upgrading to new computer

I am thinking about upgrading to a new imac and I see that not much software is included when you buy a new computer anymore. They used to come with appleworks and quicken but apparently now those programs much be purchased separately.
What I want to know is will the older versions that I have from the imac I bought 4 years ago work on the new imacs? I don't really care that much about appleworks but I use Quicken all the time and the reviews I just read on the apple store are mostly horrid. Is the new program that much different? I've been using Quicken for about 8 years and have never had any problems.
Also, I have a friend that just bought and imac and she tells me that her text edit program expired. Is that possible?
    Thanks.
    imac   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Just to clarify a bit on Niel's post. I'm sure you can install AW on your new machine as long as you delete it from the old one. I am fairly sure you can do the same with Quicken, but I'd read your agreement just to be sure.

  • Upgraded to new computer

I just got a new computer (HP, I know, but my sister is getting a Mac eventually, and I feel more comfortable with both types in my house eventually), but unfortunately, the new computer doesn't have Outlook on it, and I don't really want to go spending another $200 on Microsoft to get Office with Outlook.
The problem is that my old computer does have Outlook on it, and I was using the calandar and contacts functions on those to sync up with my iPhone. What should I do now? What happens when I try to plug in my new iPhone to the new computer? Will the autosync delete everything?

Thanks for the Google tip, never thought about that one.
It ***** that the new version of Office on my new Vista computer is the "Home and Student" version, and that version doesn't come with Outlook, since everything seems to want to synch with it (I had my (now defunct) palm Z22 sync with it also).
I guess Microsoft dropped the ball yet again for those of us who "upgraded" with Vista/Office 2007.

  • Upgrading on new computer

I am inheriting a new computer (2012 MacBook Pro 15.4") and need to know if it is possible to upgrade the CS5 on my old machine to CS6 on this new one, or should I try to upgrade with my old (2007) MacBook Pro 15.4" then just back it all up to the new one?

    Please Refer : http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/cs6._sl_id-contentfilter_sl_catalog_sl_software_sl_c reativesuite6.html
Choose the option to upgrade when you add the product to the cart.

  • Upgrading the new computer

I would like to purchase the software soon, however, my computer is running Windows XP and I will probably upgrade in about a year.  Would I be able to transfer my software to the new computer at that time?
    Thank you.

You should check the tech-specs to see if whatever software you intend to purchase can run on a Windows XP system.  There is a better likelihood that if you purchase new software it will install on a new machine a year from now, but you might find things come up short as far as working with Windows XP goes.

  • Upgrading with new computer

I've been with Photoshop since version 2.5.1. I've upgraded both by receiving CDs and downloads from the Adobe website. I plan on buying a new computer and upgrading to PS CS6. How many of my older versions will I have to install to be able to buy an "upgrade"?

I didn't actually understand the issue. For upgrading to PS CS6, you just need the previous version i.e. CS5.
What exactly are you trying to convey?

  • Free Mountain Lion upgrade with new computer. How?

I was told at Apple store that I would receive a code to get a free upgrade for a new computer I purchased
on 8/15/12. It had Mac OS X 10.7.4  loaded and the free upgrade would be to Mountain Lion.
How does one get this code?

See Apple - Free OS X Mountain Lion upgrade Program.

  • Husband upgraded to new computer and lost my tunes.  Help!

Husband bought me a new computer, moved all programs, files, etc. Now my ITunes has reverted to an older edition which does not include much revamping, playlist organization, and purchased tunes. We can't seem to find the more current file/folder/version. Real novices here, but would appreciate any help.
    Thank you.

If he moved "all files," it would have included the purchased music. If he missed something, send him back to the old computer to copy them to an external drive (or other convenient medium) and then copy them from the drive to the new computer.

  • Need cs4 number to install cs5 upgrade to new computer

i need my old cs4P# to install CS5 to my new computer, can't find CS4

Adobe doesn't know what you don't know. If it's not registered on your account or you have some printed version of it, nobody can tell you that. If you bought directly from Adobe and have proof of purchase, support may be able to figure things out, but that's as good as it gets...
