Upgrade to New Feb.'11 MBP from mid2010 MBP?

Hi,
So I purchased my MBP on Jan. 7, 2011 in the apple store, and had heard hearsay of a new model coming out soon but honestly my previous computer (a dell latitude d610-5.5 yrs old) was on its last legs and I couldn't wait much longer. I'm so disappointed that of course they come out w/the new ones w/i Intel processor RIGHT after I buy it. Is there anything I can do, like trade it in or pay a small fee (say, about $200) to upgrade?

If you are past your 14 day return period with apple then unfortunately no there is nothing that can be done. However you could sell the computer you have now either on CL, eBay, etc use the funds you get from your old computer to purchase a new one. What are you using the computer for anyways? Everyday task such as internet, email, browsing, music, etc is fine for the Intel core 2 duo. If your using heavy Photoshop, Movie editing, etc then you should consider an upgrade. I would not sweat it man. I know how that feels though, it's happen to me several times.

Unable to burn cds or view photos on burned dvd on new (feb 2011) MBP.

I have been unsuccessful in burning photo CDs. It goes through the whole process and then at the end tells me that it was unable to complete the burn. I use my old PC to burn the cds because I need the space on my camera. I forgot about this until today when my photographer gave me a burned DVD of the photos she took of my kids. The MBP says I inserted a blank dvd. I went back to her and she pulled them all up on her PC. I am new to Mac and am feeling like I wasted a ton of money because I have to keep going back to the old pc for all the things I wanted to do on a faster, newer computer

Well, that's kind of embarrassing. And I honestly thought I paid attention to that... It works perfectly now, thank you so much!
As expected, cdm-git also works fine since DMs only work in the root mode as of now.
Just for the record, both type commands output "/usr/bin/startx" and pacman -Q gives "systemd 215-4".

At first, it can be difficult to determine which version of Numbers you are using. The user interfaces are different, but if you are new to the apps you may think you are using the new version when if fact you have launched the older version. Make sure you are using Version 3.x. Then you won't get the message that you need a newer version.
Use Spotlight to launch Numbers. After typing Numbers into the search field, pick the result that says "Numbers -- Applications".

How did you "move everything" over?
Migration assistance does not handle the iPhoto library well sometimes - the best way is to drag the bad iphoto library from the pictures folder on the new system to the desktop, connect the two systems together (network, firewire target mode, etc) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old system to the pictures folder of the new system and launch iPhoto on the new system - it will open and convert the iPhoto library as necessary and you will be fine - once you test the iPhoto library you can delete the one on the desktop

Upgrading to Lookout 6.7.1 from version 5.1 on new computer

We recently upgraded to Lookout 6.7.1 from version 5.1 (build 8). We copied the
database, Source Files, Process Files from the old computer to the new
computer. We also attached the database in NI Max. We then updated the files
when we opened them in the new version 6.7.1. We now are missing data and we
are experiencing issues with the following:
1. No Trends are trending
2. We have a screen named Instruments Settings but the numeric values are not
displaying
3. We have tried changing the numeric values for the Instruments Settings but
they will not write to the database
4. We have tried the Revise Potentionmeter but it is not writing to the Remote
URL
5. The Data Member Configuration is not editable

The database conversion did complete successfully. The alarms are showing because the datapoints are not registering correctly and such the min and max are setting off the alarms. Some devices are working while others are not. Seems to be about half of the devices are working. I have little Lookout experience. I have enough knowledge to put up a Lookout PC and move the data/files. The last move went okay but this one has been difficult at best. Luckily I still have the "old" setup working and can fall back when the attempts to get the new one does not work successfully.I have found the proper way to edit the data points individually but this would be very tedious and prone to errors. I would like to think there is some connetion that has not converted to the new version and I need to find and fix that connection, but again I don't have the required knowledge for that.

Check with Kaspersky as to what versions of Firefox their programs are compatible with. It is up to Kaspersky to keep their stuff up to date as Mozilla releases new versions of Firefox. And if they are unwilling or incapable of doing it, they should inform their customers of such and maybe refund their customers instead of stringing them along.
