Upgrade to Oracle8i Rel. 8.1.7

I'm planning to upgrade our Oracle8i 8.1.6 to 8.1.7
production database server. But, I have a Standby
Database server configured which is being updated
using the archived redo logs updates on a regular
basis to a remote area.
Will the standby database server continue function
(accept archived redo logs) after upgrading both
servers? It would entail an lot of work to reacreate
the standby DB.
Anybody has similar setup or experieince?

If You have metalink access, then read note 316889.1 - it has step by step instruction how to upgrade from 8.1.7.4 to 10.2.0.1 (and I would suggest to upgrade to 10.2.0.4).

Upgrading oracle 9i rel 2 to 9i rel4 on linux as4.0

Please help me upgrading 9i rel 2 tp rel 4 on linux AS4.0.
Currently my server is in production having 9irel2 on linux AS4.0, 5 instances each having different charchter set.

Latest patchset/release is 9.2.0.8.

Need a firmware update/upgrade for 9500 (rel 4.51)

Hi!,
I'm currently in South America, and I need a way to upgrade the firmware of my 9500 (rel 4.51) to a newest version. I've contact the local Nokia Care team in Argentina, and they don't have the "flashing battery" for the 9300/9500.
CAn anyone suggest me a way to try to upgrade my 9500?. I really need to do it.

new problem, i put the old drive in, ran classic, then opened the update file, but nothing.
then i looked around for an aplication that would run it, i found an "update intaller" app but it refuses to run.
do i need to configure the classic drive to be the master or is there something else im missing?

I have the Oracle 8.1.6 client tools on my computer, and they also installed JRE 1.1.7. However, the RTE inside the database is indeed 1.2
I simply installed JRE 1.3 after the Oracle utilities, and that reset my system JRE to 1.3. If you look in Oracle's batch files, like 'loadjava.bat', they explicitly set the path and classpath to use the JRE installed with Oracle.
So it shouldn't be a problem to have the extra RTE on your computer. Go ahead and set your system to use your preferred JRE, and Oracle's tools should use their own as needed. At least this has been my experience so far. I often have several JREs on my computer at once, and although you someimes need batch files to set up special environments for particular applications, the RTEs should not otherwise conflict with each other.

I have installed Oracle8i on Redhat Linux 6.2. & it is working without a hitch.
Can I install the Internet Application Server8i on the same machine?. Has anyone tried it?.
I would like to get some opinion before going too far trying to install it(IAS8i) on the same machine.

Yes it will work, but you have to install it in different ORACLE_HOME's!! So first install RDBMS as say user oracledb in /oracle/ora81db and set this path as ORACLE_HOME in .profile of user oracledb. Then install as user oracleias in /oracle/ora8ias and set this path as ORACLE_HOME in profile of user oracleias.

Email problem on Z10 after upgrade to rel 10.1.0.273

My Zimbra email uses MS ActiveSync which worked perfectly on my Z10 until I did a software upgrade to BB10 rel 10.1.0.273 . Now my email does not work anymore. Error :" Your device is connected to a network, but the Internet service is not available.Check your network settings" I am sure Z10 users had the same problem. Can anyone help?.

thats also the case for POP3 and SMTP on my Z10, update is missing something on the email front, it was a little sceachy before the update

BO XI 3.1 installation and Upgrade activity Steps

Hi Experts,
Right now we are using BO XI R2 Version, Planning to uninstall XI R2 and do a fresh installation of BO XI 3.1 with SP3.
Do I need to install the Java latest version for XI 3.1? Right now we have the following setting,
         j2re1.4.2_04
         j2re1.4.2_16
         jre1.5.0_14
Since the up gradation of Reports, user, groups, universe events etc are from XI R2 version to XI 3.1.So Is it enough to
install BO XI 3.1 with SP 3, or do I have to go for FixPack inorder to avoid problem after this upgrade activity.
Could you please tell me about the BOXI R2 to XI 3.1 installation and Upgrade activity Steps.

Hi,
you dont need a special JRE version on the Server. With the installation of BO a own JRE will be installed for BOE. Only for developing WebI reports the developer need a 1.6.x JRE later on.
There is already FixPack 3.1 out but installing "only" SP3 should be sufficient.
I would recommend you check the upgrade guide from Rel.2 to XI 3.1:

How do I upgrade my mac book to play The Sims 3?

I just bought The Sims 3 and received it today. Unfortunately, it only works with Mac OS X 10.5.7 Leopard and higher!!!! My computer wouldn't even open the 'install' icon. I have the 13 inch Mac book version OS X 10.4.11 and I'd like to upgrade so I can play this game. Can I even do that? And I need about 2 GB more of memory, can I get a card or something for that?
I'm so lost and disappointed.. Please help.

There was a question on exactly this topic a few days ago. I suggest you search past topics.
If it says it needs Leopard then very, very likely you have to have Leopard. You might get away with an earlier version of Leopard (no reason to though, since once you buy Leopard the updates are free).
My link to Leopard system requirements now shows Snow Leopard which isn't even for sale yet so maybe somebody else has a specific system requirements link for Leopard.
For hardware suggestions (more RAM) I suggest you post on the hardware forum for your computer. I think RAM upgrades are usually relatively easy to do yourself, though you have to make sure you get the right RAM (Macs can be pretty picky). Get advice from others users of your computer model on the hardware forum for your model.

Edit non-functional in Rel. 2 SQL Workshop Object Browser

Using IExplorer 6. Recently upgraded to HTMLDB Rel. 2. Thus far everything I've tried works fine except for the Object Browser code display and editing function.
First problem: the code display for Packages, Functions, Views etc. does not wrap.
Second problem: the edit icon does nothing. Code display is single line with red background (tried creating and then editing a view to make sure it wasn't a privilege problem). I see javascript:toggleCodeArea('e') when I mouse-over the edit button but clicking on it does nothing.
Has anyone else encountered this? Any hints on troubleshooting it?

Unfortunately the AddType solution isn't working for me. The documentation isn't specific about where to add those lines, i.e. I've tried it in marvel.conf both outside and inside the definition, and in the httpd.conf file in the mime types but neither has had an effect (yes, I restart the http server each time). As others have observed, it does work in Firefox.
If you could clarify where in the marvel.conf file the AddType is supposed to go that would be helpful.
I'm having the same problem on two different systems, so whatever I'm doing wrong, I'm consistant about it.

Upgrade Database from Oracle 8.1.7.4 to Oracle10gRel2

I am upgrading from Oracle8.1.7.4 --> Oracle10g Rel2
when i executed @catupgrd.sql in last steps
execute dbms_registry.gather_stats(null);
it is running from last 12 hours.
How do i check its running or hang?
i am not able to login through other terminal
any idea or suggestion

This is an upgrade from 10g Rel 1 to 10g Rel 2 plus the 10.2.0.3.0 patchset. It means you will have to perform these operation>
0. Perform a full backup of your current environment.
1. Install 10gR2 on a separate Oracle Home.
2. Apply the 10.2.0.3.0 patchset on top of this new oracle installation.
3. Perform the database upgrade process to upgrade your database from 10gR1 to 10gR2-3

Parameter drop down issue in XI Rel. 2 report viewed with XI Rel. 1

I've modified a report (originally created in Rel. 1) with Rel. 2. I've modified the one parameter. Everything works fine when viewing the report in Rel. 2. When I send the report to someone with Rel. 1, they get the parameter screen with a blank text box and the name of the value element defined for the parameter in the upper right hand portion of the parameter screen.
If they click okay, that parameter screen is replaced with the correct one - that displays a dropdown and doesn't have the parameter value element displayed.
The same is happening with other reports I'm working on. Short of upgrading everyone to Rel. 2 (which is likely not a viable option), any suggestions?

Upgrading from 10.4.11 'Tiger' to Leopard

Hi, I have a mac running on 10.4.11 and someone bought my daughter 'iLife 09' as a Christmas Present but we cannot install it unless we have Leopard Software. Is there anyway to 'upgrade' to Leopard without having to go out and buy a whole new Snow Leopard Software package. I took the iLife 09 back to the apple store to get a refund - because I thought I might as well just buy the new Snow Leopard as it is included in this - but as it had been opened (my daughter tried to install it) they would not give a refund. So if I can upgrade at a relatively low cost to Leopard, then I can install iLife so it won't have gone to waste. Can anyone advise? Apple told me to ring one of the London stores and ask for the 'Archive' department, but I'm sure I read somewhere that it is possible to upgrade online.
