Upgrade to OS 10.5, now must click twice on windows to drag them
I remember, in my hindbrain, that I used to be able to click & drag on the title bar of a doc window in Photoshop. That window would come to the front and I could continue dragging it.
Now, I have to click to bring to front, release, then click again to drag. This is a "drag".
Can I get the old behaviour back?

This Application frame means that on a mac you have the option to have a sealed in area as PC users are used to, or a mac free floating window setup . For certain types of mechanical multiple image work it certainly has its uses to use the application Frame, and tabs.
I do not have any such items in my Photoshop (as far as I can see): Window > Application Frame, Prefs > Open documents as Tabs
If fact, now, even if I click the red close-window button, it does not close that window, only brings it to the front. Yuck.

ITunes item info - was good, now must click twice to get product info
Does anyone else find the new look iTunes 9 less useful and user friendly the the previous version? It was nice to look at release date and other info for albums, songs, books, etc. in pervious iTunes versions, BUT NOW one must scroll over an click on the "i" symbol to get additional info on all items. It is inefficient and in some cases slows down the use of iTunes. C'mon Apple get back to common sense. Sometimes the bells and whistles of old are much better than anything new and much more efficient.

Why I must click twice Back Link in TLN to get back to Area Page
Hi everyone, i need a little help about TLN. I'm developed webdynpro application and i have integrated it with ess. The problem is arise when I click <b>Back</b> link in top level navigation (TLN) from my iview (custom application). I need to click this link twice to get back to area page (actually just one click to go back to area page). How i handle this problem ? Thank you.

Exactly, so now you know why you have to click twice, right ? Well, why it has created two links there, that needs to be checked or thought over. Need some time for this.

Sorry, didn't get your question. Do you mean to say that you want to hide the detailed navigation on the Area page. Is this Area Page a custom application ? What is the code written on the click of button ? Is the Area Page an iview within a page and then attached to role or workset or just an iview attached to role or workset ?
Have you changed the following property of iview or page (for Area Page) "Initial State of Navigation Panel" to closed ?

First Screen click box -must click twice
My colleague created a simulation in Captivate and inserted a
clickbox over the Start Button. The clickbox is set to appear for
rest of slide (and, in attempt to troubleshoot the issue, he's set
clickbox to appear for a specific number of seconds as well ); the
option to pause the movie until learner clicks is selected; the
double click option is NOT selected.
When movie runs, the user must click then wait a while, then
click on the start button again before moving to next screen.
Why is this? Any theories?Another method of avoiding this issue is to insert the Mark
of the Web (MOTW) on your HTML pages. Google "Mark of the Web" to
see learn more about this method. As long as we have the MOTW on
our HTML pages, the page is considered to be in the Internet zone.
Also note, you must have MOTW on all your HTML pages otherwise
moving from page to page does not work. As some pages are
considered to be in the Internet zone and others are not.
The nice thing about this method is that it works for other
items besides Flash and the learners do not have to perform any
extra tasks to make it work correctly. Someone else provided code
that you can add to just the HTML pages you use to launch your
Captivate (Flash) files. It works too. But I prefer the MOTW
because it doesn't try to circumvent the inherent security
features.

Since the upgrade (which took many attempts) after about 2-3 clicks, i cannot open new windows. I can open new tabs, but never a new window.

You need MS Office 2011 if you've installed Lion. Previous versions of Office don't work with Lion.

Before I upgraded to 8.0 I could double click and see all open Apps and then close them. Now when I double click I am not sure what I am seeing or what to do?
The format keeps changing but the basics remain...in the center of the screen are large images of the recent apps which you can close by swiping up and away.

With Windows 7 I upgraded itunes to 11. Now in my itunes library, when I click on a song "original file could not be found" comes up. This happens with over 2000 songs, but it seems to be ones I recorded from cd's. Locate does not seem to work. Has anyone else had this problem?
Highlight a song that is supposedly missing, press CTRL+I to Get Info, say no when asked to locate the file, then look at the summary tab. Where does iTunes "think" the file should be? Where is it really? You may need to give a configuration file a minor tweak.

I've reset my PPAM before to get around Firmware lock, but I've upgraded to mountain lion and now need to do the same thing, but I can't reset the PRAM. I've heard of the chip that is on the post 2011 macs, but I must not have one? What to do? Also, I can not get start up chimes unless I have the factory startup disk in. Can the PRAM be reset with the factory startup disk in or must the mac boot from the hard drive? Need help.

This is actually based on how the site handles different file types; Hotmail gives it to the browser as "application/octet-stream" or something like it, whereas sites that properly open it in the browser tag it as "application/pdf". Unfortunately there's nothing you can do about this without setting up a proxy to rewrite the HTTP headers. Complaints to Hotmail in the past haven't worked, and it's not possible to override the behavior in Firefox.

9 MB Page-outs1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

I am running Vista and installed a new version of firefox yesterday plus I messed around with trying to block some obnoxious advertising pop up windows. Now I can't open links and must drag them to the browser bar or right click and "open in a new window". How do I fix this? I tried to restart Firefox but it didn't help. thanks!
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

I upgraded to iTunes 8 and now it wont open at all
Ok so I upgraded to iTunes 8 and now every time I try to open my iTunes it says that iTunes has unexpectedly quit and it asks me if I want to relaunch it so I click relaunch and the same thing happens. iTunes is like my second life so can somebody pllleeeeaaaaassseeee help me!!
I would first see if you can open iTunes in a test user. This will give us some direction in troubleshooting the issue.
To create a test user:
1. Open System Preferences from your Apple menu
2. Click on the Accounts icon
3. If you see a closed padlock in the lower left hand corner, click on it and enter your admin password to allow changes
4. Then, click the + button
5. Enter the information you are prompted for, and then click "Create Account"
6. Restart the computer and log in to the new account
Once logged in, see if you can open iTunes. If not, I'd recommend reinstalling iTunes:
Go to your Applications folder
Drag iTunes.app to the Trash
Restart the Mac
Empty the Trash
Download & install from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download
If you can open it in the test account, return to your original account and try removing your iTunes preferences file.
Quit iTunes if it is running.
Navigate to /User/Library/Preferences/
Drag com.apple.itunes.plist to the trash
Restart the Mac
Launch iTunes again
If it still isn't working, try recreating the library per these steps:

"mouse middle-click button" (I have a wheel)
"Global default" I don't know what that is, so, apparently, it doesn't apply to me.
"IntelliMouse" I don't have this either, just an old, dumb "Dell mouse" ;-)
"dialog box" is that what I'm hoping the cursor will be moved to? If so, how do I get it to move there on it's own? What's the purpose of "Snap to" if I have to move the cursor there myself?
