Upgrade to P6 Release 8

how to upgrade P 6.2 to P 6.8 and is it free of charge

It is free of charge as long as you are under a current maintenance agreement with Oracle/Primavera.
You should know that r8 is very different from all previous releases so you will want to do your homework before upgrading. For example all global/admin functionality has been moved out of the desktop client and can only be accessed via the Web. This creates a real headache if you need to run stand-alone instances.
See: "P6 Release 8 (P6 R8) Installation And Upgrade Roadmap Guides [ID 1292064.1]" in the Oracle knowledge base.

  • Is it Mandatory to run SU25 steps after Upgrading to new release

    Hello All,
I have few questions regaring Security Upgrade.
We recently upgraded to a new release. So, when I try to modify a role in Dev a pop up came "which states that need to run steps 2 a to 2 c in SU25" but when clicked on continue the pop up never came after that in any role.
My question: Is it really required to run SU25 steps after any upgrade? Is it going to affect any users if dont run the steps and continue?
    Regard's

You are missing the purpose of the tool - namely Step 2B.
2B is the key to reducing your effort and building good roles in the first place when you enter 2C. If you get that part right, then step 2C is popcorn and watching the tele while your program runs (not a(n) (e)CATT script...). You can do this in standard if you are disciplined!
A special aspect is to choose the "Authorization Object" view which is available in SU24 but not in SU25. If you restrict the number of roles to few single roles (or series of them without derivation) which are intact then you can survive a release upgrade without toasting your roles or the SU24 data updates.
SU25 is very usefull for such role builds!
If you want all the lights to turn green then use SUPC and transport them through. God help anyone who used roles as menu's and deleted standard or maintained authorizations...
SAP security is a specialized task which touches all applications you use...
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • Export to Excel is formatted differently since we upgraded to XI release 2

    Hi,
For many of our reports were using the Crystal Reports that came embedded VisualStudio2002. Recently, some of our developers needed to upgrade their laptops to Crystal Reports XI release 2. This forced us to install the Crystal 11.5 redistributable on our web servers, so those developers would be able to run their new reports.
However, now we are noticing problems with the export-to-excel feature on some of our OLD reports. Even though we have not change/touched the OLD reports at all, the export to excel feature is acting differently.  I strongly suspect it has something to do with the 11.5 redistributable I installed on the servers.
Specifically, these are the things we noticed missing on our old reports...
    1. Previously, the export-to-excel would mimic the page breaks we setup in the rpt file. Now it does not. The page breaks seem random in the Excel export.  If I export the report to PDF the page breaks seem fine (i.e. exactly how I set them up in the rpt file).
    2. Previously, the page header section would repeat within every page of the Excel document (that is how we wanted it). Now it does not. The page header only shows up once, but then does not repeat anymore.
Previously, we did not have to set any of the format options in the report, and it worked fine. To try and resolve the problems I have now tried these settings (C#):
    ExcelFormatOptions efo = new ExcelFormatOptions();
    efo.ExportPageBreaksForEachPage =true;
    efo.ExportPageHeadersAndFooters = ExportPageAreaKind.OnEachPage;
Those format changes did not help at all.  Does anyone know how to get my page breaks back?
    thanks, --Rick

    Hi Rick,
The version of CR included in .NET 2002 was version 9. There have been a lot of changes done to our exporting dll's since then that cleaned up how CR exported. You won't be able to fix this using code, it is due to your objects in the page layout that is causing the changes.
There is a Document that the Report Design team has that is "Best Practices" when laying out reports for exporting so I am transferring this posting to the Report Design Forums to help you with "fixing up" your reports. If you still have issues when previewing/printing/exporting through your application they can transfer this post back.
    Thank you

  • Upgrading TMS and Release Keys

Is a new release key required when upgrading TMS versions, and If one is required, is there some place in TMS that shows when you have a valid key for the current version or when you need to apply for a new one?

    Hi Patrick
if you are asking for the upgrade part if the TMS installer will show you a warning if the key is valid for the version you are trying to upgrade to then yes:
This is in the installation wizard when upgrading from a major version to another and if you do not provide the correct key. If the key is correct the upgrade will continue without this question.
And as sumeet is saying if you have a correct serial number and the TMS is not showing any warnings when you are operating the TMS the key is most likely valid.

  • Upgrade SAP  from release 701 to 710

    Hi guys,
We have SAP ERP 6.0 EHP 4. Our Kernel release is on version 701, our Basis/ABAP components also on release 701, for example SAPKB70105, SAPKA70105 etc. Recently, we had an issue which we raised with SAP and they asked us to upgrade to release 710. Please outline us the steps how to do this?
    Any suggestions are welcome.
    regards.

    Hi,
At this stage, they addressed you that the system is need to upgrade 710. Now, I can say that it is not possible, because there's no release Ehp4 for SAP Ecc 6.0 running on SAP Netweaver 7.10 stack.
Consequently, you should ask first that how can you run Ehp4 for SAP Ecc 6.0 over SAP Netweaver 7.10 to SAP AGS. This is because, as I mentioned that the latest release is Ehp4 for SAP Ecc 6.0/NWV 7.01 on SAP Marketplace. There must be a misunderstanding, in this issue.

  • UCCX upgrade from from Release 7.0 to 8.5

Planning to upgrade from Release 7.0 (1) SR04ES02_Build023 to Release 8.5.11003-32 (SU3). Does anyone have a simple step-by-step guide, powerpoint they can share? I understand first I have to apply a SR5?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated -

    Hi Lewton,
You need to bring your current system to UCCX 7.0(1)_SR5 and than perform the upgrade to 8.5 version.
Unified CCX 8.5(1) offers a direct solution for Cisco Unified CCX 7.0(1) SR5 or
7.0(2) to upgrade to Unified CCX 8.5(1).
    Hope this helps.

  • Upgrading to Oracle release 11i

Hi, our company is trying do an upgrade from Oracle 10.7 to 11i, and I have the following questions.
    1. How long does it take to perform the upgrade?
    2. How long is the average planned project duration?
If anyone can answer these for me, that'll be great.
    Thanks,
    Winnie

    Winnie,
    1. How long does it take to perform the upgrade?
    - The amount of downtime is a hot topic with any organization looking to upgrade. My company is currently in the process of a 10.7 to 11i upgrade and we are estimating 5 days downtime. This is a "safe" number. It could be 4 but then it could also be 6+ if the upgrade goes poorly. My suggestion is to take 5 days to the brass.
    2. How long is the average planned project duration?
    - The average project duration is a function of the size of your production instance, the amount of customizations you have, and the amount of resources you have on the project. There is no good answer. Honestly you may want to think about having a consultant assess your project and make sure you start off in the right direction with the correct mindset of what you are trying to accomplish.
I hope this helped!! Good luck..
    Erik

  • Upgrade from NAC release 4.1(3) to release 4.7(1)

    Hi All,
We have two CAM and two CAS appliances. Both pair of them are working in High availability mode.
We need to upgrade them from version 4.1(3) to version 4.7(1) so, as i read, we should upgrade them to 4.7(0) first before upgrading to 4.7(1).
Now, i'd like to know how can i upgrade from 4.1(3) to 4.7(0)? Is this done by the same steps of the upgrading from 4.7(0) to 4.7(1) by inserting a CD into the CAS and CAM and then continue the upgrade steps?
Also, I'd like to know if the configuration on the existing version (4.1(3)) will be lost after the upgrade or not?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Heba

    Heba,
You can go to 4.7.1 by going to 4.5, 4.6, or 4.7 first, so best option for you would be to upgrade to 4.6 or 4.5 (since they don't require a CD install, but just uploading the packages and then doing the upgrade) and then to use the CD to go to 4.7.1
When you boot from the CD after rebooting cleanly (using the shutdown -r now command) you will get an option to upgrade. This option will retain all the settings, so you don't have to start afresh.
Also make sure that the 4.7.1 CD that you burn is done at the slowest possible speed (recommended 4X or 6X), since doing it at a faster speed can result in a corrupted CD and hence a failed upgrade.
    G'luck!

  • Upgrade to Public Release

Hi all, first timer here. I need to update from a the last beta of ios 5 to the gm, how do do this!?
    Thanks in advance

Put your iPhone in dfu mode by holding down the power and home buttons, till your phone restarts and you see the apple logo. Release your power button, but continue holding down the home button. You should then see a screen that asks you to connect to iTunes. Once you connect to iTunes on your computer you will be prompted to restore the phone. This will download the latest public release firmware and install it on your phone.

  • Solution Manager 7.1 Upgrade - ST add on release Issue

    Good day
I have the following issue where the ST add on's are = the target release of the upgrade. The release is only on a higher patch level in 7.1(SPS4)
The step is Configuration(3) in SOLMANUP, it will not get past the phase of deciding to keep the add on's, the error is:
For the following Add-on component(s) the KEEP YOURS decision is not longer valid,
since at least for one of the base components an Add-on upgrade has been included:
      ST-ICO     (changed base component: ST)
      ST-PI      (changed base component: SAP_BASIS)
      ST-SER     (changed base component: ST-PI)
You need to change the decision of the above Add-on(s).
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi Miguel,
I am using SOLMANUP, I am using the installation/upgrade software and using SPS 4 as my target release. I am using SPS4_upgrade.xml in my download directory.
If I try using SPS 2 with SPS2_upgrade.xml it produces an error because my patch level of ST-PI is already patch 5 in my current system(Solution Manager 7.01 EHP1), and SPS 2 of Solution Manager 7.1 ST-PI = patch 4, that's why I am using SPS 4 stack as it is a higher level that my current patch level of ST-PI.
The issue is that the mentioned ST add-on's are the same release as the target release, the only difference is the patch level. The upgrade recognises that the source and target release is the same, but will not let me keep with Decision = Keep
    Thanks
    Derek

  • Best approach to upgrade MaxDB AND move to new OS release

What would be the best approach to upgrade Contentserver MaxDB 7.5 on W2K server (32-Bit) to MaxDB 7.7 on Windows 2008 Server x64 (R2?)?
    1.  a) Upgrade MaxDB on the existing installation
         b) Create a complete backup
         c) Install latest release on new machine
         b) recover with backup from existing installation on new machine
    2. a)  Create a complete backup from existing installation
        b) Install same release on new machine
        c) recover with backup from existing installation on new machine
        d) upgrade to latest release on new machine
Both approaches share the problem that you have to run a OS/DB release constellation that is not released according to SAP PAM. The second approach has the advantage that the source system will not be touched and is still available in the original status if something fails. But the main issue is the compatibility question (7.5 not released for W2008, 7.7 not released for W2K)
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Matthias

    Natalia,
    thanks for your answer.
    > Do you have Content Server 6.40 ?
    yes.
    > the MAXDB version 7.5 is not released on W2008
    neither is 7.7 on W2K.
    > I recommend to go with 1 option.
    Which would be this one:
    >>1. a)Upgrade MaxDB on the existing installation
So can I upgrade to 7.7 on W2K though it is not released for this combination?
    Best Regards,
    Matthias

  • SAP OS kernel upgradation from release 700 to 710

    Dear Sir,
We are upgrading kernel release 700 (185)  to 710 (160).
In this we are getting an error of saposcol i.e saposcol is not started automatically when we run startsap.
Currently we are running our application on Kernel release 700 patch level 185.
Should we have to upgrade application pathes after to upgrade the kernel release 710 patch level 160 ?
Is there any dependency in between SAP Application Patch and SAP Kernel Patch or we can run the application on current application patch level, kindly suggest
    Regards,
    Mushtaque

    Dear Mushtaque,
I am not clear on your purpose for kernel upgrade from release 700 to 710. Your SAP_BASIS and SAP_ABA version showing as 710 or 700. If it is 700, there is no reason to change your kernel release. The latest patch is 201. You should go for this patch incase release 700.
Also, as a post processing steps you need to run saproot.sh with root user after kernel upgrade.
Also please find below link for saposcol options.

    Valla,
We are planning to upgrade our db..please suggest me how much downtime i have ask with our clients ...
Our Database Size is 35GB.No one can estimate the time for you as this depends on many factors (number of CPUs, how much memory you have, ..etc). The best practice is to upgrade the database on a test instance which is identical to your production database (cloned recently) and estimate the time it takes to complete the upgrade.
Please suggest me what ais the action plan / precautions we need to take.Because this is first time am doing Up gradation.Again, the best practice is to upgrade a a test instance and list all the issues you may encounter when you upgrade your production database. Please note that you can install the new ORACLE_HOME and the companion/example CD before starting the upgrade itself and without a downtime.
