Upgrade to PS CS5 within CS4 Full Suite

If CS4 Master Suite was purchased in December of 2009. can I upgrade just PS to CS5? What problem may I expect if not upgrading the rest of the suite at this time?

Upgrading to PP CS5 from CS4 Master Collection

Hi there,
I am currently running Premiere Pro CS4, as part of the CS4 Master Collection package.
I need to upgrade my copy of Premiere to CS5 but can't afford to upgrade the rest of the bundled software.
Is it possible to upgrade to Premiere Pro CS5 from a copy of CS4 within the CS4 Master Collection, or am I only entitled to upgrade to the entire Master Collection CS5?

I upgraded from the CS 4.0 Master Collection to the CS 5.5 Master Collection myself. If you use the other products in the Master Collection you should upgrade the whole thing. Photoshop, AE and DreamWeaver have had some nice new features added since version 4. Keep in mind Audition is now included with the Master Collection.

Do I need to install CS4 full version before installing CS5 upgrade?

New hard drive in iMac. I have a full version of CS4 design premium and an upgrade version of CS5. Do I have to install both? Or can I just install CS5 upgrade and somehow use my CS4 full serial number to validate the CS5?

You have the right idea. You do not have to install CS4. At some point during installation of CS5 you will be required to enter the serial number for CS4 in order to confirm it as a valid upgrade installation

Uninstalling PS CS4 Extended after upgrading to PS CS5 Extended

I finally acclimated to my upgraded to PS CS5 Extended after transferring over presets, brushes, actions, etc and decided to uninstall CS4. Of course now when I open CS5, I receive an error message indicating the some of the support files are missing and I need to reinstall PS CS5. Since this was an upgrade from CS4 that is no longer on the computer, do I need to reinstall CS4 and then reinstall the upgrade to CS5? Or is there a way to simply reinstall CS5 and be done with it? Since this was an upgrade purchased via download, and I deleted the disk image, where do I find the download for the upgrade? Any help or suggestions are much appreciated.

All Adobe updates are full installers.
If the update installer does not find a qualifying prior version installed, it will simply prompt you for the old serial number as well as the new one.

Can I upgrade to CS5 from CS4 if CS4 is not on my computer?

I downloaded CS4 from the internet and ran it on my computer until the computer crashed and I had to install a new hard drive. I now have CS4 on a backup disk ONLY, and it won't install from the disk for some reason. I get this error message:

If I upgrade to CS5, does CS4 have to be on my new hard drive to do so? I DO have the registration number for my copy of CS4. I don't want to pay the full price for CS5 when I can pay for the upgrade only.

If you downloaded the CS4 product, then you can still access the download files from your Adobe account. Log in to your account and look under My Orders. (If you weren't able to deactivate the previous installation, you'll need assistance from a support agent before you can reinstall the CS4 software.)
However, you don't need CS4 installed in order to install the upgrade. You do, however, need the CS4 serial number.

Upgrade CS4 to CS5 - Will CS4 Still Work?

I have CS4 Web Premium on a Windows Vista X64 machine. I have downloaded trial of CS5 Web Premium and everything seems to work fine (i.e. both versions are running on this computer and seem to work fine).
My question is: If I upgrade to CS5, will CS4 still work?
The main reason I ask is that I have onOne software Plug-in suite 4.5 running on Photoshop CS4. onOne is charging $149 to upgrade to a version that works on CS5. I still want to be able to use onOne, but, at this point, not enough to pay their upgrade price.
I appreciate anyone that can offer some input.

I guess my real question was what would happen to CS4 when I activated CS5. Considering the licensing practices of software companies today, I wasn't sure. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

CS4 Design Suite not working after OSX 10.7.5 upgrade

I recently upgraded my Mac OS to 10.7.5 from 10.7.4. I also upgraded Java from SE6 to 7. Now my cs4 design suite will not open. I click on the Illustrator alias but nothing happens. I get the Rainbow Pinwheel that spins for 2 seconds and then stops. This also happens when I try using Photoshop, InDesign, and Dreamweaver. I've also tried opening using the .app file in the applications folder, but the same thing happens.
A side note: I tried to revert back to Java 6 with no luck. and I do not have a back up of my OS to revert back to 10.7.4. Everything was working great prior to the upgrades.

Ich frage mich auch, woher Du diese Programmversion erworben hast. CS4 kann schon seit einigen Jahren nicht mehr legal vertrieben werden. Es ist eine Altversion, bei der Adobe auch keine Unterstützung mehr anbietet, schon gar nicht, wenn die Software auf offensichtlich dubiosen Weg erworben wurde. Du hast einfach Geld verbrannt, in ein Programm, das nicht einmal mehr weiter entwickelt wird, in tote Software.

Upgrade paths from cs5 to cs5.5

I just got off the phone with customer service. I upgraded from CS4 to CS5 in late December. I would like to upgrade InDesign from CS5 to the 5.5 version. I was told this isn't an option because I own the suite.
This perplexes me since I have purchased many, many single items from Adobe in the past--from Pagemaker 3 pretty much on. Is it really true that once I went to CS2 I abandoned my rights to upgrade individual products?
It seems a bit unreasonable, after spending $600 at the end of last year, that now, three months later, I need to spend another $400 just to update one program. Am I missing something?
I am posting here because the representative I spoke with had a really, really hard time understanding English and I'm not sure he even got my question. It took him over a half hour just to find my account and verify that I had a registered version of Design Premium. He told me that part of the problem was that I have purchased so many Adobe (and Macromedia) products over the past 15 years that I now have four accounts and that it was not possible to consolidate all my software under one single account. This also sounds very odd. HELP!

I looked into crossgrading. The whole thing was a comedy of errors. My new custom built super-charged PC developed an un-diagnoasable software error, and then got stolen after being sent in for repaired. At the time, it seemed like my best option was to start the migration from Windows, buy a Mac laptop, get software to run on it, yet still keep my Windows options open in case the PC was found. I was using a backup PC to keep work on schedule.
I used one of my Macromedia cross-platform suite products to upgrade to the Mac CS3 suite. So it wasn't as expensive as it could have been. In hindsight, yes, I should have just abandoned the PC and crossgraded. But I was very fearful after all the computer issues I had encountered that I would have problems with one or the other of the two computers and I felt I needed some redundancy just to ensure I didn't have more downtime.
I'll look through the Adobe site for a license transfer form. When I called several months ago, the agent, made it sound like these were very difficult to come by. Or perhaps, the agent just didn't know. I've ran into this several times with Adobe. One agent tells you one thing, another says something entirely different. Customer service is lacking in my opinion.

Upgrading previously upgraded versions of Photoshop to CS4?

I am needing to upgrade to photoshop CS4 and have put it off for the longest time because I've never been able to get an answer to this question -
I am currently using Photoshop CS3 which was an upgrade from CS2, which was an upgrade from CS, which was an upgrade from PS 7.0, which was an upgrade from the original full version PS 5.5. Does Adobe's upgrade policy consider that, as result of my paid upgrades, I own CS3 and qualify for the upgrade OR is the upgrade install going to look for/require an original full version that is not more than three versions back? I'd sure like to be able to spend $200 on another upgrade rather than $600 on the full version. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

About the only limitation that I could see would if you have used your PS license to upgrade/migrate to something like Adobe Production Studio.
Now, the version #'s allowed to upgrade have shortened in recent years, but I went from PS 2.5 to 3 to 4 to 5 to 6 to 7 to CS to CS2. Original license was for 2.5. At CS2, I did step over to Production Studio, and now I have to upgrade along that path, which will happen soon. Other than that, I could continue straight to CS4 and then to CS5, when introduced. In the old days, you could skip versions. Now, I think it's limited in the allowable upgrade from previos to about 3 total versions. In your case, that would not be an issue until about CS6, unless things change again.
If you have any questions, Adobe Sales will help you out. I'd call, rather than their "live chat" feature, as you will likely get someone, who actually knows.

CS4 Creative Suite Standard Install Discs/Download?

So unfortunately my macbook's harddrive just crashed, and with it many photos and applications, including my whole adobe CS4 creative suite standard (student edition). My problem is that I no longer have the original install discs because my beloved roommate threw the box out. Also a problem, I cannot even think about upgrading to CS5 (don't really want to) because I am still on OS X10.4 (Tiger). I have tracked down my serial number through adobe's support (muchos gracias), but have no way of getting ahold of a complete CS4 creative suite standard install discs/download. I have tracked down a friend's CS4 Photoshop install discs (but that doesn't work with my serial #) as well as another friend's CS4 creative suite premium install discs (also doesn't work with my serial #)... Is there anything I can do to get a download or install discs of the programs from adobe? I only use/need photoshop and bridge, but really need them seeing as I am a ski photographer who is trying to finish up my last edits for winter submissions...
