Upgrade to SCM7.0 DP info objects (Characteristics) long/short text issue

Hi All,
We have upgraded from SCM4x to SCM7.0. The info objects characteristics customized long and short text is not updated in SCM 7.0.
Example: Info object 9ALOCNO standard long/short text is APO location. But in SCM4x they have changed to Plant. After upgrade this text is set to APO location, not the plant. Like this many chars text have been changed to SAP standard.
When I try to change text of info object creates transport request.
Is this standard behavour when we upgrade?
Please share your thoughts and let me know for more information.

With every upgrade the customization is lost. We will have to make a list of all customized objects and make the change again in the upgraded system.

With Master Data:
If you set this indicator, the characteristic may have attributes. In this case the system generates a P table for this characteristic. This table contains the key of the characteristic and any attributes that might exist. It is used as a check table for the SID table. When you load transaction data, there is check whether there is a characteristic value in the P table if the referential integrity is used.
With Maintain Master Data you can go from the main menu to the maintenance dialog for processing attributes.
The master data table can have a time-dependent and a time-independent part.
In attribute maintenance, determine whether an attribute is time-dependent or time independent.
With Texts:
Here, you determine whether the characteristic has texts.
If you want to use texts with a characteristic, you have to select at least one text. The short text (20 characters) option is set by default but you can also choose medium-length texts (40 characters) or long texts (60 characters).

Activating Info object characteristics?

hello all
Iam trying to activate my Infobject char,in two ways like r.click on my infobject and activate master data and trying to activate by attribute change run,since one record entrie in my master data has been changed?
but its not activating and its saying like infobject has already in active and it maintaining to records one in 'M' version and one in 'A' version?
how should i solve this?

Hi,
Goto RSATTR transaction code.And click on Infoobject button and see the Masterdata infoobjects list and select the required infoobject and click on execute and refresh.
Now your Masterdata will be changed.See the color of the object whether it is in Block or Blue (in the list).
Once the Masterdata is changed you can run it.

Update Concatenated Info-Object

Dear Experts,
C1 and C2 are info-objects (characteristics) that have their own data and update rules directly from source (ERP). I have a third info-object animal C3 which is structurally C1-C2 (C1 hyphen C2).
What is the easiest/neat/straightforward/standard way to update C3 without using Excel ?

If you ask me, I will follow below steps.
1. With first step, I will load the C1 and C3 infobject.
2. As I 2nd set up, I will start loading the data into C2 infobject. Together with BI expert, you can create logic i.e. C1-C2 = C3 in the transformation. so ideally I would use C1 and C2 as source data for my C3 infobject.
At least we are following similar kind of process in our area which still works :-).

How to create master data/text for an info object

Hi All,
I am working on a report and having a problem with an info object since it has no master data. This characteristic is supposed to be in the selection parameters and also should contain key and text in it. Since there is no master data for this info object there is no text and keys don't come up. Does any one knows how to add master data to this info object without reloading the ODS?

You shold load the master data into BW first,
othere wise you can do one thing
goto infopackage and schedule where in the update tab select the radio button
Always update the data,even if no masterdata is exist for that.

BEx Filter text (long / short)?

Hello,
I have Cost Center which contains different long / short text.
In Report it is no problem to display all in long text.
Problem: When I make a pre-selection via a variable in BEx it will display short text.
Is there a way where I can say to BW "show me the filter in long text"?

Hi,go to InfoProvider maintainance -->Extras (from menu bar) >Structure Specific InfoObject Properties>Set 'Text type' to 'long' for your characteristic. activate infoprovider. log off and log into bex and check the result.

Universe Designer not pulling Long Text from BEx Query / Info Object

In the BEx query on which my universe is built, all the characteristics display with Long Text. In each of the info objects (RSD1), the long text option is selected in the BEx properties. However, when the Universe builds, it pulls the short text for the names of the classes, dimensions, and details that get created. I don't want to have to manually change every line to the long text, so I would love to hear if there's some setting in the designer that is causing this to happen.
Anyone know how to fix this?

The long description is transfered for Key Figures, but not for Characteristics.

ORA-08103: object no longer exists during APEX 2.2 to 3.0 upgrade

I am trying to upgrade an APEX 2.2 installation on 10.2.0.2 Enterprise Edition on SLES-10 with 400MB shared_pool and 1 GB sga_target. During the upgrade, the session crashes due to ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [ktspgfb-1]. I cannot drop the FLOWS_030000 user and 523 corrupt blocks in sys7.dbf including objects source$, argument$ and obj$. So far, I have restored the database and corrupted it 3 times. Each time, I redownloaded apex.zip from technet.oracle.com.

Any ideas why this is happening? I see a number of current bugs for ORA-00600: ktspgfb-1, but most knowledge base articles refer to 9.0.1 or 9.2.

After upgrading to 10.2.0.3 and doubling the shared_pool_size and sga_target, I was able to upgrade to APEX 3.0 without errors.

External field catalog & Info object catalogs - Role - in Flexible upload

1) What is the role of Info Object catalogs maintained in the Data Basis & the Source Data Basis?
Please be kind enough to mention a scenario u2013 underlining their utility in the consolidation process.
Like u2026.
Are they used for loading master data from source system to the BCS system?
Can they be used in the flexible upload u2013 data collection function?
Are they used for as a source of AFD data?
I came across the below documentation on flexible upload - in an SAP material.
*When uploading from a field catalog, you also have the option of using mapping. In this case, the file structure no longer has to correspond with the structure of the data basis.*
Understood the above 2 points.
*Rather, you can assign a BW InfoObjectCatalog that acts as the data structure description for the file here. You specify this InfoObjectCatalog in Customizing for the data basis.*
2)Does the above statement implies that we need not do any setting in the field catalog tab of the flexible upload? If yes, what do we do?
In the flexible upload u2013 field catalog tab u2013 we define the data structure for the file we upload (correct me if Iu2019m wrong).
If you use an external field catalog, you have to specify how you want to map the data structure for the file to the structure for the data basis.
3)Pls give an example of an external field catalog.
4)Can we use an external field catalog in the upload of RFD?

There are two possibilities of using Infoobject catalog in SEM-BCS (it is true for both catalogs, characteristics and key figures):
u2022 In a data basis. The system adds these chars and KFs that are sitting in the defined in the Data Basis catalogs to u201CAdditional Fieldsu201D of each data stream (the tab strip u201CData Stream Fieldsu201D in data basis. If you check some of these fields and generate data basis, these additional infoobjects will be placed into appropriate ODS/DSO objects and you will be able to use them for uploading of some extra information.
Without indicating the Infoobject Catalog for Chars youu2019ll not be able to configure a new functionality of "assets/liabilities" at all.
u2022 In a source data basis.
After including source data basis to your data basis youu2019ll be able to use external infoobjects catalog in a method of the category Flexible Upload. Tick the flag of using the external catalog and choose the SDB. In the mapping tab youu2019ll have a possibility to choose from those chars and KFs that are located in the catalogs.
This might be used for upload of ANY data, RFD, AFD or master data.
The scenarios, I guess, are rather obvious.

Uploading of master data
Log on to your SAP
Transaction code RSA1LEAD YOU TO MODELLING
1. Creation of Info Objects
In left panel select info object
Create info area
Create info object catalog ( characteristics & Key figures ) by right clicking the created info area
Create new characteristics and key figures under respective catalogs according to the project requirement
Create required info objects and Activate.
2. Creation of Data Source
In the left panel select data sources
Create application component(AC)
Right click AC and create datasource
Specify data source name, source system, and data type ( master data attributes, text, hierarchies)
In general tab give short, medium, and long description.
In extraction tab specify file path, header rows to be ignored, data format(csv) and data separator( , )
In proposal tab load example data and verify it.
In field tab you can you can give the technical name of info objects in the template and you not have to map during the transformation the server will automatically map accordingly. If you are not mapping in this field tab you have to manually map during the transformation in Info providers.
Activate data source and read preview data under preview tab.
Create info package by right clicking data source and in schedule tab click star to load data to PSA.( make sure to close the flat file during loading )
3. Creation of data targets
In left panel select info provider
Select created info area and right click to select Insert Characteristics as info provider
Select required info object ( Ex : Employee ID)
Under that info object select attributes
Right click on attributes and select create transformation.
In source of transformation , select object type( data source) and specify its name and source system Note: Source system will be a temporary folder or package into which data is getting stored
Activate created transformation
Create Data transfer process (DTP) by right clicking the master data attributes
In extraction tab specify extraction mode ( full)
In update tab specify error handling ( request green)
Activate DTP and in execute tab click execute button to load data in data targets.
4. Monitor
Right Click data targets and select manage and in contents tab select contents to view the loaded data. Alternatively monitor icon can be used.

How to use the Compounding Key in BPC10NW like BW info objects?

Hi experts.
We are longing the suitable solution in BPC-NW 10.0 to deal with compounding key like BW info objects.
We want to define the dimension with compounding key MATERIAL and PLANT, but BPC-NW 10.0 doesn't support it. Therefore we just defined the dimension "PLANT" as entity and "MATERIAL" as user-defined dimension with concatinated key "Material code-Plant code" as ID.
For instance:
-[Dimension PLANT] as type-E (entity)

Error when assigning SID while uploading text in the info-object of the DSO

Hi
I have a scenario where I need to extract a char 60 field from R/3 in the DSO.
I have created the info-object which is char 60 which has the master data text activated.
In the DSO transformation I have mapped it to the R/3 field.
While activating the data in DSO its giving the error message
'Value '20 per action plan' (hex. '32302070657220616374696F6E20706C616E') of characteristic'
'Error when assigning SID: Action VAL_SID_CONVERT InfoObject ZRMSD '
How to overcome this issue.

Change the InfoObject for this text so that it will allow lowercase letters. To do this, go into Change mode on the InfoObject, go to the General tab, check the Lowercase letters checkbox and activate the InfoObject. After this has been activated, you can then restart your process and this SID violation error should no longer be thrown for this.
If you don't want to do this, then you can use the TOUPPER formula in the Characteristic Routine, in the Transformation, to change the value of this field contents to uppercase. This can also be done by using an ABAP routine like this:
TRANSLATE column TO UPPER CASE.

After upgrading to latest 10.2 Youtube no longer works in fullscreen

Hello.
After upgrading to the latest version of Flash, 10.2, I can no longer see videos fullscreen in YouTube because all I get is a blank screen.
I’m using Internet Explorer 8 with not toolbars installed. My antivirus is ESET Smart Security with the Windows default firewall enabled.
My graphics board is an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M
PS: I’ve uninstalled 10.2 and installed again 10.1 and the YouTube problem was no present. So we can conclude that the problem lies in fact in the 10.2 version of Flash player.

Hi, Before you Uninstalled 10.2, did you happen to update your video card driver? This has helped others that were experiencing this issue. The Adobe Flash Player Team are investigating this issue and trying to have Users document certain
info so they can duplicate the issue in house.
I don't know if you'd be interested in providing some information on your experience, but this is the site to do so.

Part of the issue is the Technology for StageVideo, included with the latest FP version and the hardware acceleration. Updating the video card drivers and or turning off the hardware acceleration seems to solve it. However, documenting what is happening before and after is helpful to them.
