Upgrade to SQL Anywhere16, is application w.Remote Client 9 running the same ?

Hi SQLAnywhere folks,
My customer is running SQL Anywhere9 + Remote Client 9(WinCE 5.0), however,
they have to upgrade OS Windows sever 2003 to 2012, thus they have to upgrade SQL Anywhere 16.
And I found from <http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-35934>
" SQL Anywhere 16 database servers support connections from client applications using software from version 6.0.0 or
later." i.e SQL Anywhere 16 supports Remote Client 9. Right ?
Then the question is the applications with Remote Client 9(WinCE 5.0) are running well with SQL Anywhere 16.
Any application modification required ?
Any consideration/advice would be highly appreciated.

Two remote objects calls on the same php class

Hi to all,
I've encountered a strange issue while developing with remote objects.
I've a mxml component with an init() method inside which is called by a menu.
When the init() method is called it makes 7 remote object calls which are bound to some components' dataprovider.
Among this calls I've got 2 remote object which refer to the same remote class. This because I have to call the class twice and the bind the result to two different combobox. Below you find the code:

The problem arise when I call the myXls' listDir method. When I call it I receive the following error:

The strange thing is that not only the myXls object returns this error, but also all the other 6 remote object return the same error above.
I'm not sure, but I guess that the error could be caused by the two remote object which call the same php remote class. If I comment one of the two calls everything works fine.
Do you have any suggestion about?

1) We have the 2 VO, each with 3 rows to fill in data. What I mean is that when i just fill in all the fields for the first row of the first VO, and the value of one of these fields is bigger than 50, then after the exception is thrown and the message is displayed, the fields for the first VO are duplicated and shown in the second VO as if the user had inserted them.
2) We tried yesterday the validateEntity and a Method and Atributte Validator approaches after reading that white paper with the same results.
The validation is correctly done using any of the those methods.
I will try to reproduce this issue with the HR schema.

When we double click on the index.app file, the application is working perfectly in Mac 10.6.7 at our office. But if the same index.app file is double clicked in Mac 10.6.7 at out clients location, its not opening. For your information the client is able to open this same application by double clicking on index.swf file. The main problem is that client is not able to open the application using index.app file at their office whereas we are able to do so at our office. Can anyone give some suggestions to sort this problem?

The most common reason is different versions of Flash, or different versions of web browsers used. Some users may elect to not have Flash installed at all because of the processor overhead of Flash. If you are going to make an application for a client, check what operating system and browser versions they are using first. Then determine if a stand alone application is required, or if they have the necessary plugins to run specific browser enhanced code.
P.S. MAC is an acronym for Media Access Control. Mac is the shorthand for Macintosh, the operating system and computers made by Apple Inc.

We had the same problem - how to deploy a number of identical applications, using each their own db.

The solution we used is to wrap the entire application into different applications by using a very small
module called KURSUS01, KURSUS02 etc, that did nothing but call the start procedure of the main app.
Then in the dbsession connect, we made a call appname to get the application name, and appended the
first 8 chars to the dbname. Thus our dbnames now points to logicals name: rdbdataKURSUS01, rdbdataKURSUS02 etc.
All this allows us to deploy the identical apps in the same env, or change one version, and run both the old
and new program on the same pc and server at the same time (eg. KURSUS01 and KURSUS02).
I also think this is a kludge - but it works nicely!

Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Reinstalling Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. What is the method to run the same sql script in multiple databases? I want to write a unix script that would select from different databases and run a sql/plsql script in those different databases. What are the ways to write such a unix script? Thank you in advance.

Just have a parameter which takes in the oracle connection parameters and use it in your sqlplus script with your shell script.
Your sqlplus script can have a procedure/function call or an anonymous block;
Then have a wrapper script to call the original script with different connection parameters. Hope this helps.

SRP521W - Local and Remote Traffic Cannot be the Same Subnet Address

I support an existing VPN infrastructure with PIX, Juniper NS5GT, and Netopia devices used as VPN endpoints. In all cases, I can create a VPN where the location's internal subnet, 10.x.y.0/24 sends traffic to 10.0.0.0/8 out the VPN tunnel. In the case of this 521W that we are evaluating, it appears that I cannot do this. Insteadm when creating the IPSEC policy I get this error "Local and Remote Traffic Cannot be the Same Subnet Address." Which, while strictly true, has never been an issue with all the above devices. Is there a workaround or other methodology to support this?

no matter what url is entered,all the planning application url is always opened in the same window.and the old opened url is covered by the new url.
Is there any solution about this? Can this url be opened in seprate window?

I would like to know one thing before answring the question how did you link with an url with the label based menu.
Did you used the opendocument syntax or what did you used.
Another method is why donf you use the URL button and map according to your requirement. place the url button on the menu item and change the properties to tranperancy to 0%.

Deploying application with several web modules having the same context root

Hi,
I would like to be able to deploy an application in Weblogic 12c having one ejb module and several web modules with the same context root. Even though the web modules have the same context root, each of them is deployed to a different virtual host.
Weblogic allows deploying the modules this way as long as their targets are different (i.e. each having a distinct virtual host). However this works only when I don't select a target for the .ear:
Component Type Current Targets
application.ear Enterprise Application (None specified)
application.jar EJB AdminServer
web1.war WEBAPP virtualHost1
web2.war WEBAPP virtualHost2
However if I select as target for the .ear to be AdminServer, the deployment doesn't work anymore, complaining that the context roots are in conflict.
If I remove web2.war from the .ear and deploy the .ear and .jar to AdminServer and web1.war to virtualHost1, the deployment works but the strange thing is that the web application can be accessed also through the AdminServer's main network channel, even though I would expect that it should be accessible only through virtualHost1 network channel. I believe this is the reason why there are context root conflicts when specifying a target for the .ear, because both wars are made accessible to the main network channel.
The reason why I want to keep the wars inside the same .ear is because I want to make them access the application's local EJBs (since as far as I know it's not possible to access a local EJB outside the application even if they belong to the same VM).
Is there a way to deploy the web modules only to the virtual hosts without being targeted to the main network channel?

SQL Database access error from remote client

Trying to to select database server in of SQL 2008 Dababase Server from remote access computer client to access database for Accounting /PM Software and keep getting this message -Error 27502 Could Not Connect Microsoft SQL Server [DBNETLIB] Conection
Open [Connect().] Specified SQL Server not Found(6). I can log on to server with no problem but when I try to set up program to access I cannot. Is there another process I missing. I tried different porting but nothing. I have run query and it states the Computer
name as: My_Server ,Instance Name Value as: PCMX, and Port Value as ( any) 51964. But It does not work when I enteer it as : My_Server\Pcmx,51964 but I get this error. Help Please, Loosing my mind. Thanks in advance.

Try to check the followings please:
Check the enabled network protocols on teh SQL Server by using SQL Server Configuration Manager. Make sure the preferred protocol (TCP/IP) is enabled)
Make sure the client computer has the preferred network protocol enabled by using cliconfg.exe (both 32 and 64 bit)
If you are using naed instance and dynamic port, make sure SQL Browser Service enabled.
Make sure the firewall allows the port you are using on both client and SQL Server.

How to copy one application to a new workspace in the same HTMLDB instance?

Hi,
I have an application running in production and I need to duplicate it into another workspace in the same instance, using another db schema with imported objects from the original one, as my area here has just been split in two and now we need two separate development environments. I tried exporting it from the old workspace and importing into the new, but when I try to install the app (using a new id) I just can't do it through the htmldb interface, as i get a timeout and page not found. I tried then to run the dump script directly in the database, but I couldn't find any reference in the script to a new application id or workspace, and after trying I found out that it only changes the owner of my original app (as I chose owner override when exporting).
Does anybody knows how should i do it to ?? Perhaps there are some variables in the script I could change to make it into a new app in a new wokspace ??
PS. I'm using HTMLDB 1.5, and it would be very difficult to change to a new version right now.

Assuming u have apps in workspace1 .And u want to import that apps and install it in new workspace2.So before that u need to create workspace2 pointing to the diff schema that u mentioned .
Then import the apps and install.......i dont know why you getting timeout .Ideally it should not have any error except the version compatibility.If u export using 1.5 then u can import it into any upper version say 1.6 .
One thing u can do run the exported script from sql*plus and track the error .If there is no workspace identified from HTMLDB interface that means ur exported file is not version compatible or u can change p_provisioning_company_id of sql file and put the value of ur present workspace p_provisioning_company_id and then try to run it from SQL*PLUS.
I also suggest u to upgrade from 1.5 to 1.6 or 2.0 to get more benefit of the fixed bug....

In OS X Mavericks, can I run the same application across two monitors?

I'm an artist. I use programs like Photoshop across my iMac screen to my Wacom Cintiq screen all the time. It's vital for my workflow to have the same application running on both monitors. Art on the screen I draw on, menus, reference and what not on the monitor. Basically an extended desktop. I read in a few reviews when Mavericks was first released that Apple removed the extended desktop from the standard dual monitor set up. The only information I can find on this subject has to do with Airplay, which doesn't fit my situation at all. Before I upgrade to Mavericks, I need to know I'm not going to be crippling my workflow. There are a lot of features that I was looking forward to in Mavericks that could help me out a lot, but the big removal of my most used feature has kept me away for months. Any help I can get would be welcome. I appreciate it.

I run dual 21.5" monitors and Extended Desktop Mode works fine in Mavericks.
I don't use Photoshop, but Pixelmator and other App's with independent toolbars work great in both Windowed and Full Screen Modes.

As you all are aware the iPod Nano faces off with zen Microphoto. Even though it isn't yet available at Creative.us and after waiting almost a year, I just had to grab one from Best Buy that sold out. I purchased it because of the huge 8GB harddri've, FM stereo receiver (that's how I get to know about new songs) and color photo capabilities. Unfortunately, everytime I try to watch a photo or play a slideshow, the music cuts off without warning and my bright and shiny player isn't a MP3 player anymore.Please, everyone, WRITE CREATIVE via Email and ask them to upgrade the firmware and software to stop turning off the music whenever we play photos. If the iPod Nano can do it... shouldn't the Zen MicroPhoto be able to do it also?Imagine not being able to play your sport team's music while you view your sports picture while you were playing ball. So, what you're saying is the iPod uses superior hardware components because they play images and music at the same time, even in the itty bitty Nano. Also, the iPod is able to "shuffle" photos so that you don't get bored seeing the same photos over and over again as in sequential mode.
There are a few players that do support music and photos... some will only limit one song per slideshow.
Furthermore, if you check the Zen Vision manual, creative's newest MP3 multimedia player... it does NOT support photos and music at the same time either.
In my opionion, it's a software issue, like I said, it displays only one image (background) during music play - if it couldn't, it would have shut off the image too. It's not that they CUT OUT creative features, but that they didn't write the software to allow the ZMP to "play" photos and music at the same time.
I mean, you can buy a PC for less than a ZMP and it can run several applications showing music and photo and videos at the same time.
I wouldn't buy the zen micro for nothing... there's just something special about having a color screen. I mean, who buys black & white TV these days?
With X-fi, I'm restoring my MP3 to higher quality, I'm sure the 8GB will come in handy as these filesize will only increase. And I got it because I'm hearing more and more music on the radio that I want to have... so my collection will only increase. I have over ,200MP3 at 320K which stood at 6.5GB.
As for you, consider that you're paying an extra $20 for 2 more GB and a 256K color display. It's well worth it over a 6GB monochrome MP3 player.
