Upgrade to v5.0 added a "default calendar" but with all my data in it

Blackberry Curve 8900. Despite backing up beforehand the installing 5.0 still messed up my setups and programs as it has in the past. This time I find a new calendar called default instead of using the existing calendar based on the name of my email account that I sync with my iMac. Now all my appointments have been taken and nothing left in my own email. I have designated my old calendar as the default but that seemed to have made no difference. I am never, never going to upgrade again. It screws up everything and backing up (I do it all on a PC) does not protect my existing setup completely. I wish RIM could figure out how to upgrade an OS while leaving your settings and software alone. Other systems seem able to do that. I really prefer to use my smart phone more than to be fixing it. I don't like to be crabby but it has so time consuming.
Is there anything I can do about this to get the appointments where they belong? Thanks for any help.

Sorry but I found the fix I need. I did a different search which sent me to a paper that told me how to merge calendars. you open the calendar go to 'menu> options' When it opens type'MOVE' (IMPORTANT as this threw me off for awhile, there is no window for typing, just type it). a menu then asks if you want to merge all calendars which then works.
I have to say the paper is full of reasons (incomprehensible to me) why the upgrade messes with your setup in the first place. I have an ipod touch and upgrades are seamless.

I don't understand this answer. What do you mean " your contacts should be in whatever program/service you have selected to sync."? The address book is created on the phone not in Itunes or any other program/service. When Itunes says backing up phone I have to assume it backs up everything on the phone. Most of what's on my phone does not come out of itunes. I download apps directly on the phone. When the software updates it does not bring those apps back. I have to go into the appstore and install them all over again. Itunes music library syncs with whatever is on the device your linked up to BUT the phone book just dissappears after you update the phone. There is no way to save it anywhere else.

Selecting more than one calendar but not all?

is it possible on the iTouch iCal application to view more than one calendar but not all? I have one calendar that I would like to have available, but when I check for conflicts, that calendar doesn't matter (if it were included, every day would be a conflict).
I don't see any way to do this, but I am hoping someone has a workaround or other solution.

Let's say I have three calendars: Home, Business, and Daily Junk. The Daily Junk calendar serves as a type of to-do list (and yes, I know there's a separate todo list -- this is an example). I want to see a view that shows Home and Business at the same time, but not Daily Junk. I can view all -- which gets Daily Junk -- or I can view Home or Business, but not Home and Business but not Daily Junk.
Am I missing something obvious? When I select a specific calendar, I don't have an option to do more than one -- I get a specific calendar or all of them.

I was just on the line with Apple Tech support. First of all, I learned that when you link contacts to iCloud, it moves all your contacts to another/new address book...look for aother address books and you will see it. But I found the new address book dies weird things and changes the "Display Names" format. Evidently (per Apple support tech) there is no way to avoid this problem...so I just delinked the iCloud from my contacts. The contacts stayed in the iCloud address book...so I exported them to a CSV (comma separated value) file and saved it on my desktop and then imported that list into my original contacts folder. Now everything is back the way it was...being able to use my contact address book the way I did before. I was surprised that they never considered or realized this problem...but then the tech guy admitted that they really don't have A LOT of experience using Windows PC's.

I can help you for the future. Regularly back up your computer to an external hard drive (or cloud alternative). If you have your library backed up, it could be reinstalled on your new computer. In your current situation, you will have to reload all of your CDs as syncing of non-iTunes purchased music is only one way (Computer to iPod)

Why does Firefox upgrade version 3.6.13 state that it works with all current addons, it will not work with Roboform!

Back on Dec 23 I ask if it was possible, after upgrading to version 3.6.13, could I go back to the version I had been using. A very helpful person, "Buddahfan", instructed me how to accomplish this. I have downloaded version 3.5.16, as this is what I think I had before. Anyway, my reason for not wanting 3.6.13 is it will not accept a VERY helpful add-on I have come to use daily, Roboform. Problem is the advertisement for the new version states it will work with all add-ons and it obviously does not. What benefits am I losing by sticking with 3.5.16 after I have downloaded all updates?

I upgraded from an iphone 4 to a 4s, after a few initial problems and two restores, everythings seemed to be working...until I went to play some music, all music loaded to itunes via CD's played, but ALL purchased music from itunes does not play...i click on the song and the screen flashes to the image then goes back to the list of songs, so the purchased music shows up...just does not play. here is an interesting thing: take the iphone and set lock screen to never. Now make an email with siri--be sure to activate her with call button. get to the body and get some text in there. then just stop talking. LOCK SCREEN APPEARS!!!!!! and of course you draft is gone.
There does seem to be a work around for some--maybe all these issues. Don't use the call button--use the buttons on the phone.
Siri seems to behave properly with scenerio above---sans call button. She does not go to lock.

Firefox keeps asking to be my default browser but it all ready is

I am using firefox 4.0 and evertime i open the program it asks if it wants to be my default web browser. Firefox is and always will be my default browser. I have tried the options in the firefox support area but it still hasn't made a difference

Did you create a new iTunes library on the new computer? A device can only synch with one library at a time and will delete material from syncing with another library (it warns you of this). If this is the case you need to get your old music from whatever the original source was.

Adding a Second Project Site with same restore data

This is the first time I've had to accomplish this
I have a dev server where I restore a backup from 2 weeks ago to http://devserver/pwa
My team has asked for a restore from 2 weeks + 1 day to http://devserver:99/pwa - I've tried deleting site collections, tried several other ways of doing the restore; however, during the mount-spdatabase I get only 1 site to come back (pwa) but
it doesnt show in the site list
The enumallwebs shows the following (notice the in sitemap)
stsadm -o enumallwebs -databasename content_database
databse site count 1
<site ID = random characters > <owner = farmguy> <In sitemap = False>
Web count = 235

I believe/know the issue deals with the same site ID being on the first pwa site; however when I try to do a Mount-SPContentDatabase content-database -WebApplication "http://dev:99" -AssignNewDatabaseID I still get the same issues - new database
ID but still same site ID for the "dev/pwa" site database
Is there anyway to clone (yes I've seen the other articles) or have two sites with the same data?
I've also thought about trying to export the stsadm enumallwebs data and copying that to a new PWA site but have been unsuccessful in the export (or even finding a way to do it)
Can I get any ideas on how to either
1) Change the site ID from a database backup/restore
2) Restore a PWA site to the same server/database server
3) other ideas?
My team members would like to do a comparison of the two dates between a project to check for differences (I just found out about

Database (I also did the site collection backup)
1) Trying to do an Import-SPWeb but this was unsuccessful
created a web application 99 -> provisioned a pwa with the old databases -> data appear in project center but when you click on the sites it gives an error message

Any other help would be greatly appreciated - I'm trying everything it's time consuming since the backup files take over an hour to restore to a site - while it is faster to do the original when its just one content database/4 pwa databases...

Ever since the last Firefox upgrade installed, when I go to Wikipedia most, but not all, of the links and titles (books, movies, songs, etc.)are in something that looks like Zapf Chancery font. It is very difficult to read... how do i change it?

It never looked like that before. The cursive font shows up on every page of wikipedia, only when I use Firefox as my browser. I have gone to the same site on Safari and it is fine there. I have emptied my cache to no avail.

Thanks for your help. I followed your link to a similar question/reply and just decided to deactivate the Zapfino font. It fixed that part of the problem but there is still some smaller type in a different cursive font (Apple Chancery like but that's not it). Can't figure out what it is in order to disable it but i think I can at least live with that one.

I lost all Data on old computer, I accidentally formatted hard drive. I was right in the middle of syncing my iPhone with computer, but computer was full so I had to delete some programs. Well I purchased new computer and tried to sync but nothing happened. I know I need to choose the right menu command but I'm a fraid to loose all Data on my phone. Please Help

Let me see if I've gotten this right! You want to remove an account from BOTH machines? Do this for your new machine first, then for the other.
Click the Apple logo on the top left of the screen, System Preferences, Users and Groups (under Systems), unlock the lock in the window if its locked (you need to know the password), select the user that you wish to remove, and click the - sign next to the + sign for Login options. A window will pop up with some options. Select Delete this user and securely, and click 'Delete user'.
After this, do an update from the App Store.
Thats all there is to it.
For the other machine repeat the process except for one thing. Before you delete the user in this case YOU, you will have to give Administrator priviledges to your son bu checking the box 'Allow user to administer this computer'.
Do NOT do anything from Finder ... if you dont know how to fix the consequences of the problems caused.
There is no need to unauthorize your iTunes account on your new machine. Do it on the old machine though.

"Default Calendar" not working with Mountain Lion?

I have two write-able calendars on my Mac running Mountain Lion (recently upgraded from Snow Leopard):
1) an On My Mac calendar generated by the Library Books app -- tells me when books are due
2) a Google calendar shared with family
By default, I want all invites to go to the Google calendar. I set that in:
Calendar -> Preferences -> General -> Default Calendar
But everything goes to the calendar On My Mac. It seems to ignore the Default Calendar setting. The only way I can get invites to default to my Google Calendar is to remove the On My Mac calendar. I removed and re-added both calendars. Same issue. Instead of an On My Mac calendar generated by an app, I created a temp one. Same issue. It seems to prefer any calendar On My Mac ahead of my Google calendar. Any On My Mac calendar generated seems to be at the top of the list of calendars automatically, and that's what appears to be used.
What gives?

I managed to sort it out! Make sure that in system preferences, under mail, contacts and calander, that iMessage is selected. In my case it said google talk. click the box and your ready to go!
