Upgrade to Vista, lose your authorization for your purchased music

I upgraded from XP to Vista, and my iTunes is asking me to reauthorize my songs. The problem with this is that I've hit my five computer limit (I have three active computers, two that I forgot to deauthorized). It's not a new computer or a new install of iTunes, so I'm a little annoyed about the reauthorization.

I'm not using Vista, but I had the exact same problem on my windows XP install of 7.0.2 iTunes. It wasn't the only problem, but it was one of them.
It boiled down to the latest version of iTunes requiring the user account I was utilizing having full control[\b] privilages on the iTunes install directory. I don't know how you would do that in Vista, but if you grant that permission to the user account in question, you may very well not ever need to worry about disabling UAC, then reenabling it later.
FWIW, the other issue was an error -42018 when attempting to download new purchases. If you have that problem after your disable UAC/authorize/reenable, it may be that you have the same issue I did.

I am trying to download a Video from the new iTunes 6 and I do have an iPod Video, but for some reason everytime I check for purchases to download it, I get this error message: "There was an error downloading your purchased music. The disk could not be read from or written to."
For some reason the Apple Team cannot seem to help me with this, does anyone have any idea what is going wrong? I have purchased the video about 1 1/2 ago and no one has helped me from Apple yet. Please let me know....Thanks so much!

I had this same issue today. I was able to download songs but not videos. It turned out that the machine that I was downloading on was my work machine and my music storage location was redirected to my company server. The path was
    \\Rgafiles-2\bcross$\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music
I suspected that this redirection was an issue so I installed iTunes on another maching and was able to successfully download the song locally. I then copied the .m4v file to my original machine.

I have it set on manually manage music and videos. So there is no automatic syncing going on or anything like that. Yes iTunes was open and when i plugged in my phone i could see all the music and everything on my phone, everything was working like it was supposed to, I didn't have a problem until I unplugged the phone.

I have purchased a video from Itunes, but every time I run the Check for Purchased Music I keep getting the same error. Any help?

Okay...I was able to contact their support and they sent me the following email. However, none of their initial steps seems to work for my case. I have done each of the steps listed in Windows: http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n93976. I am still getting the same error. Maybe, it will work for you guys. I am have responded back to them letting them know that it is still not working correcting for me.

    I am running Itunes 6.0.1.3
I ran through the steps that you provided and found that I do still have this video in my queue. However, when I go to Advanced -> Check for Purchases....I still receive the error (See attached image). It acts like it wants to download, but then it stops.
I am currently running on a wireless Home Network using High Speed DSL from BellSouth. I have checked my firewall setting and it appears to be open to Itunes. (See attached image)
The OS is XP with SP 2.

  • New mac, can't authorize my old purchased music

I bought a new mac after my last one crashed, I am logged into itunes but it won't let me authorize my computer to play my purchased music.  I am signed in to my account and have bought more music, but can't authorize songs I purchased on my last computer. When I enter my information the same screen pops up again and says to enter my information.  My account name and password are correct because I can access my account info and the itunes store.

I have exactly the same problem, but with an added issue: This MacPro is the SAME one I used to have all my authorized music on, but after Apple repaired the heatsinks on my motherboard, iTunes thinks it's a new computer and won't authorize my old music.
Additionally, when the window asking me to authorize the old music pops up, it shows my old e-mail address, which is no longer in service. So now I'm wondering if I am supposed to log in with this old address. When I try to do that (I still know the password), it says I entered something wrong... but I can't have it send me my "forgotten" password for the old e-mail address, because it says it's going to send it to my old address!
I have no problem logging in with my new address, but when I try to "Authorize This Computer" under the Store menu, iTunes tells me this computer is already authorized. So why can't I access all that old music? We're talking almost 1,000 songs that I now can't play!
Thanks for any and all help with this!

  • How do I get my new iPod Touch (4th gen) to authorize for old purchases?

Recently, I upgraded to the iPod Touch 4th generation model. Unfortunately, even though I have authorized my PC for the new device repeatedly, old purchases cannot be synced. I continue to get the error message that I am not authorized on the computer. My Apple ID and password have not changed and now I am out hundreds of dollars in songs and movies I simply cannot load to the new iPod. Any suggestions in resolving this issue?

You are following the instructions here, right?
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    This may help.
iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases
If you are in the USA you can redownload music, apps TV shows  and iBooks but not movies by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Authorizations for Operational Purchaser

    Hi Gurus,
We are runnign SAP SRM 7 with ECS.
We need Operational Purchasers to be able to create PO from scratch in SRM and to be able to modify other purchasers'POs.
It does not seem possible with standard Operational Purchaser role. Should we use an other role or modify Authorizations object of Operational Purchasers?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi there,
    In the option PURCHASING -> u201CDetailed navigationu201D -> Purchasing
You have the POWL to control the documents as Shopping Carts, Purchase Orders, Confirmations and Purchase Order Responses. Now in the SRM 7.0 we have these options to handle Purchase Orders.
    Does this answer your question?
What error are your receiving? What is greyed out?
If you give user SAP_ALL do you have any problems?
    Hope this helps,
    Kind Regards,
    Matthew

  • Re-Authorize Itunes to purchase Music

I put in a new credit card for the I tunes store and for some reason a box appears telling me I need to contact customer service to re-authorize my purchase, when I do this it just doesn't work. Any thoughts, what am i missing or not seeing in the how to?
    g5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Can you copy and paste the exact error message you're getting? I've never heard of such an error message.
If your credit card is simply not being accepted, make sure all your account information is correct. To check it, visit the following website:
    http://myinfo.apple.com
Any tiny difference between the address listed here and the billing address listed on your credit card could cause a funky error.
    Hope this help =)

  • Material Groupwise authorization for purchase requisation creation

    Gurus
My client want to give authorization for creating purchase requisation - material groupwise. i.es for material group 1,2,3,4,5,purchase group 100 has the authority to create the PRs and for material group 6,7 & 9 it should be with purchase group 101
    How to fix this problem.
    Atul kulkarni

    Here comes the standard solution
1- In transaction OMSF, you will have to create an Authorization Group for each Material Group.
2- Assign this Authorization Group to User roles. To include the Authorization group in user role, add t-code MM03 - material display.
3- Using Standrad Business Addin "BAdI: Define Follow-On Processing for Purchase Requisitions" you can ask your ABAPer to make a simple logic to validate the material group assigned to PR creater's profile.
    It should solve the problem.
    Hope it helps,

  • HT5312 when you reset your apple ID would it erase all your purchases?

If i reset my apple ID will it erase everything

You won't lose your purchases, but if you make a new Apple ID, neither them nor any iTunes Store credit will carry over to the new one.

  • Upgrade to 6.0.4 lost All purchased music et al...

went to 6.0.4 from some flavor of 5 and now No purchased music At All,
also about 1/3 of my library is gone also
    curious that....
tried the usual trashing prefs etc to no avail

Are the lost tracks still listed, but with a question mark? If so, you could try a script like iTunes Track CPR v1.3 to have iTunes see them again.
If they are completely missing from itunes, check to see if the music is truly lost. Use Spotlight to search for mp4 files to look for your purchased music or mp3 to search for your mp3 files. You could also manually look through ~Music/iTunes/iTunes Music to see what files are there.

  • I have a macbook and my wife has an iMac.  We share the apple id for iTunes purchases but I want some degree of separation with programs, how do I do that?

Since I upgraded to a mac my wife and I share the same apple id but this basically shows us as the same person with most programs.  How do I get some separation on messages, face time etc.

Yes if you want to share your purchased Music, Apps etc between them.

  • I recently had to have my motherboard replaced in my laptop and lost my purchased music.  Can i retrieve it without having to pay for it again?

Help!  Lost my music and was wondering if there was a wat to recover it without having to purchase it again?

If you are in the US, download and install the latest version of iTunes on your computer, if you haven't already, go to the iTunes Store, log into your account, and click the new Purchases link under the Quick Links. The new iTunes in the Cloud service, currently in beta as part of iCloud, may allow you to re-download your purchased content (music, movies and TV shows are only available to US users at this time).
    For more information, see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
If you are not in the US, then at this time you'll have to have a backup of your purchased music, either on another drive, removable media, or on an iOS device.
    Regards.

  • If I purchased music on itunes for my ipod do I have to purchase them again for my iphone?

I have purchased itunes for my ipod and I wanted to download them on my iphone. I was able to download them but it charged me again for the same ones. Can download them on iphone without being charged agiab?

    Hi,
Firstly make sure you have iOS 5.0 or above on your iPhone.
Then make sure the iPhone is using that same account that you have purchased those song with.
To do this go to Settings > Store and check the email address at the bottom of the screen.
If you have all these ok, then just open the iTunes app and select the "purchased" category at the bottom of the screen and you will be given the fully list of all your purchased music ready for you to redownload without being charged.
(when a song is selected you are given an option to "download the full album" if you have purchased it already)
    Hope this helps.
