Upgrade to Yosemite 10.10.3 bluetooth keyboard not working

after the latest upgrade to Yosemite 10.10.3 some keys on my bluetooth keyboard are not working, any idea how to fix this?
Example my "a" key does nothing, I can't get a ? and when I hold down shift to get a capital letter (example S) I get a lower case letter with an apostrophe like this s'

A few other things you could try:
1 - Try turning off and then back on both bluetooth and wifi, you will need wired mouse to achieve this.
2 - Trying unplugging any peripheral devices and restart.
3 - Boot into Safe Mode by holding down shift key and see if it works with minimal drivers and/or you could try booting into your Guest Account if you have one.
4 - Reset your PRAM by starting your iMac and after start up sound hold down keys cmd, option, P, R until you hear the start up sound again.
5 - Reset SMC by shutting down iMac, unplug power cord for 15sec, reconnect cord and wait 5sec then press the power button to start your iMac again.
When you remade bluetooth keyboard connection did you delete the keyboard device under the bluetooth section of System Preferences, also bluetooth has a plist file in Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences - you could delete and restart the iMac (may need wired mouse again).
All the ideas I have, someone else might have others, but your keyboard may be faulty so unless you could try a second unit I'm not sure what else to suggest.

  • Bluetooth Keyboard not working on iMac after upgrading to 10.10.3

I upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.3 and my bluetooth keyboard stopped working after a while. iMac (Late 2012) sees it but don't want to pair. You can see it on screenshot (never mind Russian interface).
    I tried everything:
    a) resetting PRAM
    b) resetting SMC
    c) turning bluetooth on/off
    d) changing assumes in keyboard
    etc, etc...
    Nothing helps. Can somebody help?

    HI Michelle
i have the same problem Also using an iMac21 inch late 2012. Has been working perfectly until 10.10.3. Now when the iMac wakes from sleep neither the mouse or keyboard are connected. The only recourse is to force a hard restart with the power button.
i have tried all your above items and also to no avail. I have set sleep to wait indefinitely & that has resolved my issue. Albeit with an increase in energy use.
I Would be grateful if anybody had some tips on how to resolve this situation.
    thanks

  • Bluetooth keyboard not working.....power light flashes

    Hi everyone,
My iMac bluetooth keyboard stopped working on the weekend. The green light adjacent the keyboard's power switch started flashing rather than staying on. I replaced the batteries but that didn't seem to help. My bluetooth mouse is working fine. Has this happened to anyone?
    Cheers,
    Jeremy

Yes it has happened to me. Just added it to my long list of repairs. Do you have Applecare? In July, I had to have the logic board replaced. After the tech installed it, wham!!! Power supply was gone. Then it was the hard drive 3 weeks ago, after a few hundred bucks to get everything backed up then Lo-and-behold the keyboard over the last weekend. I called apple and then ran thru a few things. Like have you checked the batteries, try toggleing the on switch, unplug and replug it back in. After 10 minutes, the rep said "I can send you a new one." So if you do have Apple care, call and get a new keyboard. I just hope it is the keyboard and not the bluetooth.

  • Lenovo Yoga Tab 2 1051L. Bluetooth keyboard not working after WIN 10 upgrade

Hello, Today upgradet my Lenovo Yoga Tab 2 1051L from win 8.1 to win 10 and bluetooth keyboard is not detecting any more. 1. Does any one already upgradet to win 10 on LeonovoYoga Tab 2 to win 10 ?2. Is anyone having similar issue ?3. Any suggestion at this point ?  Thank you in advance!

I have yet to upgrade on my 1051.
Looks like Lenovo uploaded new drivers for windows 10.
    http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/tablets/yoga-series/yoga-tablet-2-1051
Have you update to these drivers?
Looks like there is a bios update as well.
    Side note:
    I have upgraded to 10 on another tablet(stream 7)
Once everything was updated and I gave it time to settle in I had no issues.

  • Bluetooth keyboard not working when prompted for wifi splash screen io7

I just upgraded to IO7 on my ipad and I use the apple bluetooth keyboard. However, when the WiFi splash screen appear to login using say Cisco's login the keyboard does not work. Meaning it does not accept keystrokes. Because the keyboard is paired there is no way to show the normal onscreen keyboard unless you unpair.
My work around has been to dismiss the splash screen and open up safari then try to hit a website which then produces the splash screen within the browser. Then I'm able to use the keyboard again. Anyone had the same issue and is there a work around as this is highly annoying.

Thank for showing interest in my situation and trying to answer, however yes...
FROM ABOVE: "Attempting to repair the keyboard accomplished nothing, however I did learn that when prompted to enter the bluetooth 4 digit code for pairing the keyboard was able to send the 4 numerical digits and striking the return key did succesfully pair the keyboard to the iPad again."
I'm going to try "Forgetting the Device", turning off the Bluetooth Keyboard, Turning off the iPad 2 iOS7, Turning the iPad 2 iOS7 back on, Turning the Bluetooth Keyboard back on, then setting it up via the Bluetooth menu again. Doubt turning off the iPad will accomplish much, but it will be good to have it scratched off the list.

  • Bluetooth keyboard not working after 10.7.2 update

Just got around to installing the 10.7.2 update this morning, and afterwards could not connect my Apple bluetooth keyboard. I've also had some difficulty with my Apple mightymouse (yes, it's old, but I love it). I tried restarting with the keyboard and mouse off and trying to re-connect using the Bluetooth preferences, both SMC reset and PRAM reset, repairing disk permissions, and all of the suggestions on this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/message/16377827#16377827
So far nothing has worked. My mouse began working again after the initial restart with both bluetooth devices off, but the keyboard isn't being detected in either the Keyboard setup or the Bluetooth setup assistance. The keyboard, however, was detected by my iPad, and was working with this computer before the update. I've made sure that the bluetooth on my iPad is off so as not to confuse it, and it's still not working.

Well, I found a solution. After removing the bluetooth preferences as directed in this article (which didn't help me, but might somoeone else): http://ismashphone.com/2011/08/how-to-fix-bluetooth-pairing-in-mac-os-x-lion-iss ues.html
There was a software update that fixed this. Thank goodness. So if like me you're just getting around to doing the update, after the big 10.7.2 one, check software update again. I assumed it would be all rolled in to the same update, but that was not the case.

  • Ipad bluetooth keyboard not working with remote desktop

My clients ipad bluetooth keyboard works any other time, just not when connected to his servers via the remote desktop. PC Windows 7 Servers.
I'm trying to get the keyboard information, but any ideas?

Are you using an app like LogMeIn Ignition to access your servers? I believe that LogMeIn Ignition requires you to tap a little keyboard button near the bottom of the screen to activate use of the keyboard (that's how it works in Splashtop Remote, can't be much different in LogMeIn Ignition.)
Are you sure the app you have supports blue tooth keyboard support with remote desktop? (not sure if they have to, I just recall seeing this in Splashtop patch notes awhile ago.)

  • Bluetooth keyboard not working after sleep *windows8* FIX

Its pretty simple actually.  It might not work for you, but let me know if it does.  Untill bootcamp drivers are updated, I found that disabling the Bluetooth Network adater under Networking And Sharing in the control panel will allow my Keyboard to function again after waking up.  If you find that your keyboard is still paired, but not responding when your Windows 8 install wakes up after sleep, this might fix the problem for now.
If you have a notebook, I read on another forum that if you enable Bluetooth Collaboration under the device settings in Device Manager, you can fix this issue also.  Google for it if your interested.

I've noticed on mine that if it is coming out of Ssafe Sleep (you can see the progress bar at the bottom of the screen if it is) then the keyboard does take a bit to active.
This may not be your problem however just be sure you've been patient enough after waking.

  • New Bluetooth Keyboard Not Working with iMac 2005

I just purchased a refurbished 2009 wireless Mac keyboard for my computer at work to replace the old outdated one. However, when I try getting it to connect I encounter a problem. While its being picked up by the bluetooth just fine, it tells me that it is unable to actually connect. It tells me the keyboard itself does not have the 'services' required to connect to the computer. I'm not sure what this means? This is not an issue I have ever encountered before. If anyone can assist me with this issue I would greatly appreciate it.

  • Bluetooth keyboard not working.

Note: This topic was moved from 'Mac mini Expansion.'
The bad thing is... it worked.
After 3 weeks, stopped working. Battery ok. Bluetooth ok. But mac doesn't get response from keys. I don't know what I did. But after repairing permissions, cleaning caches , reinitializating, it finally worked.
    Until yesterday.
At first, keys seemed to be changed (return for F12, backspace for ->), and then, no keys at all.
The funny thing is that bluettoth is ok. Mini sees the keyboard, but when asking me to type the sequence to pair it, does nothing.
I don't know what to do.
Return it to the shop perhaps?
Or is it something wrong with the mini or / software?
P.D : sorry for my bad bad english

Same has happened to me and I am getting really frustrated. This is happening on my computer at work and I am not able to get much of my work done. When I called Apple Tech Support they told me to they could only send me a email with articles and when I read the article it didn't help at all. I have been searching the web for answers and can't find any although I have found a lot of people having similar problems, but the solutions that they say work haven't for me.
If any one has a solution short of throwing my computer out of a second story window I would really appreciate it.
And if someone from tech support reads this they need to realize that this looks like a major problem and maybe they should be trying to address it rather that have us all try and fix their problems as end users.

  • IMac Bluetooth Keyboard Not Working On Windows 8 :/

Well I've had an iMac for about 2 years already and my keyboard and mouse have been working flawlessly! Oh and I only use Windows 7 on Boot Camp and I've had no problems what so ever UNTIL I upgraded to Windows 8 about a week ago and that's when the problem starts. When I play games on Steam my keys on my keyboard work flawlessly like always but when it comes to typing words say like in the Internet or ANYTHING other then my games it DOESN'T WORK! Please if you have the same problem or know how to fix it please tell me. Thanks in advance! :)

if your signature say win8 does that imply that you used to run win8 and it worked there but not with win8.1
if so then you may have to wait for apple to release official support for win8.1 in terms of new drivers you can likely download from their site as a zip
at least thats what I hope will solve my huge page pool fatal bluescreen crashes in win8.1
which I also suffered from in win8 before the official amd drivers was released

  • Apple Bluetooth Keyboard not working with Macbook??

I copied this from a post on a reply earlier, but thought I'd start a new post and hope that someone has had a similar problem.
I have the new Apple wireless keyboard that doesn't work on my Macbook. Ironically, the only keys that do work are the top row. Screen brighten or dim, Dashboard, speaker volume control etc...
I've connected it and paired it successfully, but the keys just don't seem to work. (delete and arrow keys also work) After a while, my mighty mouse (wireless) start acting funny, or the track pad button on the laptop itself stops working. Shutting of the keyboard at this point doesn't help and I need to reboot the computer.
I've taken it to Fortune Tower in Bangkok where they have a apple support center and he couldn't get it to work on his 17" mac book pro either. He wanted me to leave it, but I took it back to the international departure terminal of the Bangkok international airport, (had to wait for another flight to China to do this) and returned it to the store where I bought it. But they wanted to see the problem and I showed them that it didn't work. Convinced, then then brought out a new one and I wanted to verify that IT worked but same exact problems.
I suggested that they connect it to another computer? Which they did, an Imac and it worked fine. Then they connected it to a Mac Book Pro, (15 inch) and it worked fine there as well.
Could this be a firmware update issue?
Anyone else having problems like this?
I just hope that this isn't a simple setting somewhere that I've overlooked... but I'll try anything at this point.
    thanks,

I have exactly the same problem! Macbook Pro 2GHz (so not a very recent one...), OS, firmware, etc updated to the latest. My Mac dealer proposed to do a clean installation of 10.5.2 - did not help. Apple Support told me to uninstall the keyboard and install it again (for more help they want money...) I did - same problem. Only function keys and cursor keys work. Funny thing - during pairing the code can be entered and recognized, but later no character cames through.
The keyboard is perfectly OK, since it works with my MacPro without any problems.
The mouse, on other hand, works nicely so far.
Maybe now will someone give us a wise advice?

  • New aluminum bluetooth keyboard not working properly

Got the new aluminum keyboard and paired it with my MacBook Pro and everything went swimmingly. Love the key feel and the compact size. Updated the software to 1.2 and now I get the following behavior:
    - The keyboard pairs up fine, and the battery level shows up
    - The tab, arrow keys, delete, and tab all work fine
    - No other keys work
I've tried restarting the MacBook Pro, and that solves the problem for a couple of minutes, but then the keys become non-functional again. Anybody have any idea what might be happening?
    Tim

It appears that the problem was that I had Mouse Keys turned on in the Universal Access preferences. Turning that off allows me to use all keys now. Odd, as I've never made any changes to that preference pane. If the default is to have that turned on, perhaps Apple should make it clear that it must be turned off.
