Upgrade Vista Home Premium to Ultimate

I have a Satellite L300 - 1FV laptop with Vista Home Premium.
Is it possible to upgrade to Vista Ultimate?
/Jonny

Of course. Start Control Panel > System and there you can see View basic information about your computer. There is also available option for Upgrade Windows Vista.
You can also install own Vista Ultimate using Microsoft installations DVD. All necessary drivers, tools and utilities you can find and download from Toshiba support page.
Before you do anything please create recovery DVDs using "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator".

I want to upgrade Vista home premium to Vista Ultimate on Toshiba Qosmio F50-114 could this affect on my hardware or my other software?
I'm using 32-bit system and 4GB RAM expansible to 8GB.

    Hi
As far as I know this will not affect the hardware but I read in some threads that the Ultimate version is not fully compatible, or could be not fully compatible with some Toshiba Tools like Vista Added Package.
Im not quite sure if it could be a case on your Qosmio F50-114 but everything is possible.

  • Satellite A200 - Vista Home Premium to Ultimate upgrading

Hi Guy's back again with a new query.
I'm looking to upgrade from Vista Home Premium to Ultimate...checked out all the so called requirements on the" Windows anytime upgrade" site and I can assure you there are plenty of conflicting ideas about how its all done right down to the fact that I would need an up-grade disk mailed out to me.
Having read a couple of other forums recently, the answer lies in what you guy's may or may not be able to advise me...and the question is:
Does the so called "rescue disk" supplied at purchase, ie the Windows operating system disk...CONTAIN ALL THE "VISTA "AVAILABLE SYSTEMS.....Basic, Home Premium, Business & Ultimate??? and highly unlikely but is it upgrade coded or whatever it is that its meant to be to perform system upgrades?
Many thanks again in anticipation of your kind comments
    Andrew.

    Hi Jimi,
Thanks for your comments and yes I realise its a user to user forum but you just never know who's floating around.
And I certainly am not confusing the 2 disks Toshiba/MS hence my question in the first place, it only seemed logical to me that Toshiba may have all the OS for Vista on the one CD rather than preparing many different recovery disc's given the volume and variations of the systems they sell.
The serial and key required for updating can be installed onto your system separately after buying same from MS its just a matter then of whether the recovery disc itself has the operating system of the update you require......as for example does the disc an other manufacturer supply with their pre-installed software when you purchase one of their systems.
Thanks again for your kind thoughts and comments and I will investigate further.
    Andrew.

  • Upgrade from Vista Home Premium to Ultimate

I have a T61 with Home Premium that came OEM. I bought a Vista Ultimate with SP1 Upgrade online (download only). Later realized that I should have bought the "Anytime" upgrades that MS offers. Too late now though, no refunds on the download, so I am trying to figure out a way to make it work.
I have a few questions and your help is greatly appreciated:
    1. Can I install from the downloaded file or do I need to burn a DVD with the files I downloaded and boot from DVD?
    2. What is the best way to get the applications and drivers that came with the T61 for the Vista Ultimate version?
Any tips or suggestions are welcome. I am going to try this tomorrow so I am really hoping it works out.
    Srini

Any ideas anyone? I even called Thinkpad support but they refered me to the forums. Said they don't support non-OEM upgrades..
Also, I understand that I will lose the backup and recovery partition that comes with the OEM if I install Vista Ultimate fresh. Is that an issue? I've never really used that partition in the past. I am planning to use the Ultimate version's feature to image my PC after install so I can recover from that instead in case of a failure. Does that feature work well usually?

  • Adobe Photoshop 7.0 on Windows Vista Home Premium

Today, I tried to install Photoshop 7.0 on my laptop with vista home premium. When Photoshop was almost installed, the setup said he was ready but the setup screen didn't went away. I closed the screen.
when I tried to open Photoshop then, the program starts normal but before you can do something there's a report saying: 'couldn't execute your request because of missing or invalid personalisation-information' (this is not perfect because I tried to translate it from dutch)
So, the program doesn't start. After this, I tried to remove Photoshop from the laptop but he says there's a log error and they can't remove Photoshop.
I have consequently a program that doesn't work and that I can't remove.
    Is there a solution?
When I installed Photoshop I used another name than the name of the computer, maybe vista doesn't accept this? Normally, you can do that, but I didn't do something like that on vista. If that's the problem, how can you change that name if the program doesn't start normally?
    thanks

  • Tx2120us, upgrade from Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

I wonder if there's anyone out there who has managed to sucessfully upgrade his/her HP tx2120us tablet PC from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Ultimate or to do a fresh Windows 7 ultimate install on a HP tx2120us tablet PC.
I purchased a Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit edition AND a 320GB 7200rpm hard drive and started a fresh Windows 7 installation. After the installation was done, the network adapters fixed and wireless were working. I also managed to install the Audio drivers for the built in realtek audio adapter. Even the touchpad, touchscreen and pen seem to work but then I stopped after several attempts to install a suitable display driver for the NVIDIA G-Force video adapter. The resolution with my Vista OS is 1280 x 800 but the default Windows 7 OS only provides a generic 1064 x 768 resolution and not any download from HP could install a suitable NVIDIA driver for Windows 7.
As I stopped there I don't even know if there is a driver for the card reader or the Light Scribe DVD burner and whatever is buit in into this tx2120us.
I'd really very much appreciate if someone who had succeeded with the installation of Win 7 Ultimate 64bit on the tx2120us could provide me with working drivers or the links to them.
    thanks

  • Upgrading from Windows Vista Home Premium to Vista Ultimate

    Hi all
I am trying to upgrade my windows Vista from home premium to ultimate and I have the original CD for the ultimate but when I put the CD and upgrade it wont upgrade and it gives me this message:
" - The upgrade cannot be started. To upgrade, cancel the installation and the choose to upgrade to a version of windows that is more recent than the version you are currently running."
And my computer is up to date so I dont understand is there something messing or I have to install a clean version of windows Vista?!
And if I have to install a clean version is the any way to install the windows without deleting my documents ?!
Hope someone will help me :D
    Thx

To be honest I don't know how it works exactly and maybe you should ask this on some Microsoft forum or make call by Microsoft in your country. I think they are the right address for such issues.
Of course you can make clean Vista installation. All your data can be saved if you have two partitions and all important data will be saved on second partition. When Vista installation starts for Vista destination choose first partition. This partition will be deleted but all your data on second partition will be untasted.

  • Upgrading from Vista Home Premium to 7 Ultimate

I'm upgrading my PC from Vista Home Premium Edition to Window 7 Ultimate Edition, but I have to do a custom (clean) install. Will Photoshop CS4 still work? If so, what's the best way to do this without killing Photoshop? will it allow me to reinstall onto a different OS? I had the same issue when I changed from an XP maching to a Vista Machine - Photoshop wouldn't work at all.

As far as I know you will have to de-activate and uninstall Photoshop before upgrading the OS and then reinstall and re-activate under Win7.
Even if it weren't necessary I'd advise it anyway.
Don't forget to save out any actions, brushes and any other personal extras!

  • Qosmio G50-115: How to upgrade Home Premium to Ultimate

    Dear Friends,
I am a teacher in a local college. We decided to buy Qosmio (Device name: G50-115, , Device number: PQG55E-01J00GEN, Product Group: QOSMIO) for our department. We bought two for the time being for trial. But now my job is on the sword.
These laptops are pre-intstalled with Vista-Home Premium -SP1 and we need to upgrade these to Vista Ultimate. We have a Windows Vista Ultimate DVD but that is without SP1 on it. When I run and try to upgrade it rejects the upgrade as the installed version is newer than the version which I have. Microsoft is of no help, they said you bought it....
Microsoft advised me to uninstall SP1 but I cannot do that because there is no option in ControlPanel for this.
If I do clean install I will lose all the Toshiba's nice software. I made a recovery disk but do not think that I will be able to install these software. Though I can download all the necessary drivers but I am interested in factory installed utilities/software.
Would you please advise me what to do. Is there we can get all teh Qosmio software on a DVD for instalation.
    Regards,
    Dr. Sayied

    Hi
As Raver said use vLite free software. This software would allows you to create a new Vista Ultimate DVD and you could include the SP1 which you could download from the Microsoft.
At the other hand you could also use the Vista Ultimate DVD to install the Vista on the Qosmio G50.
The Toshiba tools and Vista driver can be downloaded from the Toshiba Europe driver page.
After the Vista Ultimate installation you could update and install the SP1

  • Windows 7 upgrade and existing Windows Vista Home Premium license...?

    Hi,
As per Lenovo's scheme, after applying for Windows 7 64 bit upgrade and upon receiving the installer DVD, do I need to compulsorily install it?
Does "upgrade" here really mean that the day when the Windows 7 DVD was issued on my name, my existing Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit license will become Invalid or get expired? Or I can continue using my existing installed Windows Vista on my Laptop and install the received copy of Windows 7 as and when I want or even don't install it on my Laptop, if happy using existing Windows Vista only?
    Regards,

    Hello
In dec 2006 I purchased an equium laptop which was installed with windows xp. It had a free upgrade to windows vista home premium in june 2007
All the Toshiba driver info on the laptop still refers to windows xp and I wondered if a package can be downloaded to
update all the drivers to vista and change the Toshiba Assist/Protect & Fix/Preinstalled Drivers Depository/Tools & Utilities window to read Vista Home Premium instead of Windows xp.
    Thanks for advice

  • Tx2517ca From Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit to Windows 7 Professional 32-bit

    Hi Everyone,
I have a very specific question. I currently am running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit, but I want to use Windows 7. However, I want to use Windows 7 Professional 32-bit (rather than Windows 7 Home Premium) and understand that this will require a clean install.
Before I purchase Windows 7 Professional, I want to make sure that this can be done correctly. Does anyone know if this is possible or have already done this?
I have downloaded and ran Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor which told me that I would be able to upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate, but it does not mention Windows 7 Professional at all. I'm assuming this is because it would require a clean install.
    Thanks for your time,
    Lauren

thanks ... I see now from your other post that you're probably getting either a "missing QuickTime.msi" message or being told that a "newer version of QuickTime" is installed when you try to go ahead and uninstall QuickTime after you're told about the Key?
Unfortunately, these sorts of msi-related troubles have gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly this time?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)
