Upgrade XSAN Beta (1.0 v41) to Full

I was working with a company that I setup a XSAN with a couple of XSERVE RAIDs about a year ago. The License runs out 11/31/05. They have contacted me to upgrade their system to the latest version along with tiger upgrades (from 10.3.8 and 10.3.9) and FCP from 4.5 to 5. I just got done backing up the data to 10 LaCie 500GB Drives. I am looking for someone that has upgraded from beta. What are the steps that i need to take to upgrade their XSAN and OS. I am not concerned with the OS and FCP upgrades unless their is a certain procedure that i need to follow for XSAN.

I agree, even in this situation, erase and reinstall every machine attached to the San and then rebuild your Xsan Volume or Volumes. That is the only way to make your transition smooth.
Of course you will need to consider the permissions issues, if you are using AFP at all. I know when I setup my 1st couple of Semi-Beta Xsans we were told to leave all of the files open and not to used LDAP Users, because it worked best that way. But what they neglected to say was that it didn't work at all the other way. So, this is just a heads up if you are also moving from an "OPEN" system to a "PROTECTED" system.
Now that you have all of your Data Backed UP, it is best to start with a Clean Slate.

I want to install Windows 7 in bootcamp on my imac with Lion 10.7, but only have a Windows 7 upgrade disk. I also have a full Vista. Can I install in bootcamp using the Windows 7 upgrade disk? If so, what do I need to know about how?

I want to install Windows 7 on my imac in bootcamp. I have a windows 7 upgrade disk and a full vista disk. Normally on a PC I would install Vista, then upgrade to Windows 7. I see that bootcamp 4 only supports Windows 7.
Can I install the Windows 7 upgrade disk without first installing Vista? Will this work in bootcamp?

Install 7. Don't bother with applying drivers and such, just reboot again from DVD and install again, it will see the existing system and this time activation will be possible.
Vista is mess, takes longer etc. Hope you have SP1 version of 7. And for Vista, only SP2+ are even supported now, by MS.

I bought a new computer and it had firefox4beta 11 in it. It worked fine till it upgraded to beta 12, then the printer messed up big time. Had to go bck down to firefox3.6

I bought a HP computer and already had HP 8500 printer which I love. When automatic update happened to firefox 4 beta 12, the printer started printing weird and could not read it. The print was spread all over the page and was very light. HP Support downgraded the firefox to 3.6 and just now there was an upgrade to 3.6.?? Hopefully this won't cause a problem with the printer

The printer problem has been documented in a number of other entries. It's a bug that's been fixed for the final FF4 roll-out. It's very unlikely that it has anything to do with your printer.

Failure after upgrade from beta to RC1

Well, you might not call it an upgrade since it is a complete
recompilation/enhancement of a working application ( using beta release ).
I have used the same meta file .... regenerated the mapping file and
performed a -action refresh ....to a new empty Oracle database.....so far so
good.
At runtime of the application, I am getting the following exception that did
not occur when using the beta. Looking in the Oracle database I can see
that there is in fact no primary key defined on "SYSTEM.REPCAT$_FLAVORS" as
the error indicates. Any ideas why this would be defined without the PK?

Upgrade from Photoshop cs6 extended Demo to full non extended software

I was wondering, when upgrading my Photoshop CS6 extended demo to the full version of Photoshop CS6 (non extended) does the extended demo need to be completely removed first to prevent conflicts?

Photoshop CS6 and Photoshop CS6 Extended are installed from the same files, available for download. By default, the trial enables the complete feature set in Photoshop CS6 Extended. If you choose to purchase Photoshop CS6 rather than Photoshop CS6 Extended, you may simply enter your serial number for Photoshop, and the Photoshop Extended features for 3D design and scientific analysis will be turned off and hidden from view.

Are you booting from the retail disc to do the installation, or running it while booted from Macintosh HD?
It should work either way, but it doesn't always work when booted from Macintosh HD. The system files are supposed to be moved into place during the restart (while the HD is unmounted) making for a long restart time which sometimes causes people to think somethings wrong and abort it. Which is a bad move.
If you're booting from the retail disc it's less obvious what the problem may be; however if you've tried it from booted from the HD and it's failed, then tried booting from the disc, it will fail again because the system components are already on the HD in a disc image waiting to be moved into place.
Whichever way you were tryig, I'd try downloading OmnDiskSweeper (it's free) and using it to see if there's a large package (around 7-10 GB) lurking somewhere that may contain the installer files. If you do, you'll need to trash that before the installer will see a 'clean' system again.
It's also worth asking how much free space you have on your HD - if there's not enough for the installer to use for the temporary package or dmg, it'll fail.
Was there no warning dialogue after the unsuccessful install?

It turns out as it had to come ... "The test period for this product has expired."
Can the trial into a full version (license and media are now available) to convert (something I really want to wg. Not the beta stage of the trial) to convert?
Or someone has a link where the migration of a test sharepoint described?
Or you can extend the trial period anyway, so the SP can be transferred manually to the new one?
Unfortunately, some of his colleagues was the beta Sharepoint used as a real and we do not get to the discarded structures / documents ...

Safari wants login everytime it's launched since upgrading to beta 4

I received the UNLOCK KEYCHAIN dialogue box saying: Please Enter Your Keychain Password; Safari wants to use your keychain "login". This seems to happen every time I open Safari or select an additional tab. Help me figure out how to turn this off! It's a pain in the ***.

Upgrade for better rendering

Alright, I read everything I could and couldn't find anything specifically helping me figure out my situation. I recently got started using the Adobe suite and love it. I'm mostly using Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere, Audition and After Effects for my projects right now. Most everything runs pretty well, except that After Effects is taking forever to render when using the ray-tracer. I figured it would take quite some time, but a 30-second project took 14 hours to render this week. Is that normal? It's also majorly impeding my editing ability because previewing is super slow. Premiere takes a while to encode as well, but nowhere near the time AE is taking.
Here's my question, given the below setup, what upgrades can I make to use these programs more efficiently, if any? Should I look at nVidia GPUs and install multiple cards on this motherboard or will my system even be able to take advantage of multiple GPUs in Adobe products with this setup? Do I simply have my AE settings configured wrong (quite likely)?

This is a common issue. It is not recommended to use ray-traced 3D compositions any longer, especially if you do not have a qualified NVIDIA GPU (which you do not have).
Don't worry, though. Instead, look into using Cinema 4D Lite for your 3D needs, which is available from After Effects. Choose Layer > New > Maxon Cinema 4D file. If you do so, does Cinema 4D Lite launch? It should. Try it out.

Bigger, better, or more GPUs will not affect After Effects performance very much. After Effects is more dependent on CPU power and large amounts of RAM.
Do I simply have my AE settings configured wrong (quite likely)?
Just avoid ray-traced 3D compositions and you should be fine. You may want to familiarize yourself with After Effects, as well. Here's a great place to start: Getting started with After Effects (CS4, CS5, CS5.5, CS6, & CC) | After Effects region of interest

I need to upgrade from the photography plan to the full plan?

I've already got the photography plan and I'm trying to upgrade to the full plan but it keeps giving me a price of $599.98 when it says I can upgrade for $29.99 per month!!

Upgrading for better gaming performance.

Hey everyone,
     I recently received this latop for Christmas. I really enjoy all around gaming from PC to Console. The problem that I am having is mostly on WoW. I ran the system via systemrequirementslab.com (the can you run this section) and it told me that I had the minimum requirements capable of running. For a few days it worked phenomenally but most recently the game slows to a crawl to the point that it takes 15+ minutes before I get two minutes of movement. Is there anything I can do to upgrade my laptop and run videogames better?

Upgrading profiles beta 1 - beta 2

I haven't tried anything yet - away from my production Mac - but is it possible for instance to filter on "Beta 1" profiles in the library so I can change them into the newly released "Beta 2" ones through a Copy Development Settings action? I don't feel like keeping those beta profiles on my system forever so being able to upgrade them from within LR would be kind of nice. Same of course when they go out of beta.

Have a look at this thread particularly #5 post by Eric Chan. I think if you follow his instructions carefully it should happen automatically, it did for me on my PC XP -SP3.
