Upgraded bios, now the pc wont start

Just to get it out of the way, here are my specs:
OS: Windows 7 64bit
PSU: Corsair TX V2 650W PSU
Motherboard: MSI P67A-GD65 B3, Socket-1155
CPU: Intel Core i5 Quad Processor i5-2500K
Ram: Kingston ValueR. DDR3 1333MHz 8GB, CL9
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 560Ti 1GB PhysX
HD: Western Digital Caviar® Blue 1TB
CD/DVD: Sony Optiarc DVD±RW Burner, AD-5260S
Bios: The one on the board's download page, was 1.9 upgraded to 1.C
So anyway, as the thread name states i upgraded the bios. I did this through the liveupdate program (which i now after googling a bit, understand as something dumb to do) because it said that there was a new version ready.
The computer was running splendid before this, but after the bios update finished (i didn't see any errors) and it rebooted the black screen at startup (that states bios version etc.) stated "Harddisk not found!".
This seemed odd, haden't seen this before.
Anyway, i proceeded to the bios config screen and loaded the optimized defaults. Then i saved & exited and when the pc came to the "starting windows" screen(where the "orbs" fly towards eachother) my keyboard (which has led lights) turned black and 3 secs after that the computer reboots.
It goes on like that until i shut it off. Windows also asked if i wanted to do a repair, which i did, but didn't help at all.
The bios does find the harddisk in the config menus, so i don't really know whats going on.
I tried to reinstall the former bios, but that didn't help either.
So, i'm kind of stuck on what to do here.
Any idea what i could try?
Thanks for all answers.

Hey again, thanks sooo much for the answers.
I went into the bios and changed the sata options to AHCI instead of IDE which it was currently at.
And now it works perfectly fine, thanks again for the answer and I'm sorry for the trouble.
I won't update the bios again unless it updates something i specifically need, it's just that having everything up to date seemed like a good idea :\
Well, anyhow.. thanks again.

  • E540 After BIOS update the computer wont start

    Hi!
After I did an BIOS update from windows the computer wont start. Only the green FN key and the red "i" in the word ThinkPad lights up!
    I can't access BIOS.
Tried tho remove the small CMOS battery for an minute

If these long boot symptoms, following the BIOS update occur, multiple customers have reported success in resolving them  by disabling Intel AMT and setting the security chip, TPM, as active in the BIOS.
Steps to disable Intel AMT and enable TPM settings as below.
    Boot into BIOS
    Select Config
    Select Intel AMT
Press Enter key on Intel AMT Control and select Disable
    Press ESC twice
    Select Security
Select Security chip and select Enable
    Press F10 and click Yes.

  • HT1349 i upgraded to yosemite last week, now my computer wont start. it stops at white screen with apple logo. what do i do?

i upgraded to yosemite last week, now my computer wont start. it stops at white screen with apple logo. what do i do?

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
To restart an unresponsive computer, press and hold the power button for a few seconds until the power shuts off, then release, wait a few more seconds, and press it again briefly.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a startup failure is to secure the data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since the last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to start. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
    a. Start up from the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.” The article refers to starting up from a DVD, but the procedure in Recovery mode is the same. You don't need a DVD if you're running OS X 10.7 or later.
    b. If Step 1a fails because of disk errors, and no other Mac is available, then you may be able to salvage some of your files by copying them in the Finder. If you already have an external drive with OS X installed, start up from it. Otherwise, if you have Internet access, follow the instructions on this page to prepare the external drive and install OS X on it. You'll use the Recovery installer, rather than downloading it from the App Store.
    c. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, start the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    d. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
If the startup process stops at a blank gray screen with no Apple logo or spinning "daisy wheel," then the startup volume may be full. If you had previously seen warnings of low disk space, this is almost certainly the case. You might be able to start up in safe mode even though you can't start up normally. Otherwise, start up from an external drive, or else use the technique in Step 1b, 1c, or 1d to mount the internal drive and delete some files. According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation.
    Step 3
Sometimes a startup failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 4
If a desktop Mac hangs at a plain gray screen with a movable cursor, the keyboard may not be recognized. Press and hold the button on the side of an Apple wireless keyboard to make it discoverable. If need be, replace or recharge the batteries. If you're using a USB keyboard connected to a hub, connect it to a built-in port.
    Step 5
If there's a built-in optical drive, a disc may be stuck in it. Follow these instructions to eject it.
    Step 6
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to start up, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can start up now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
    Step 7
If you've started from an external storage device, make sure that the internal startup volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
Start up in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know the login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you start up in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, the startup volume is corrupt and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to Step 11. If you ever have another problem with the drive, replace it immediately.
If you can start and log in in safe mode, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then restart as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the startup process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 8
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select the startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then restart as usual.
    Step 9
If the startup device is an aftermarket SSD, it may need a firmware update and/or a forced "garbage collection." Instructions for doing this with a Crucial-branded SSD were posted here. Some of those instructions may apply to other brands of SSD, but you should check with the vendor's tech support.
    Step 10
Reinstall the OS. If the Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
    Step 11
Do as in Step 9, but this time erase the startup volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically restart into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer the data from a Time Machine or other backup.
    Step 12
This step applies only to models that have a logic-board ("PRAM") battery: all Mac Pro's and some others (not current models.) Both desktop and portable Macs used to have such a battery. The logic-board battery, if there is one, is separate from the main battery of a portable. A dead logic-board battery can cause a startup failure. Typically the failure will be preceded by loss of the settings for the startup disk and system clock. See the user manual for replacement instructions. You may have to take the machine to a service provider to have the battery replaced.
    Step 13
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

I have downloaded updates for microsoft office and now the internet wont work - any ideas?

If you want to simply do a 'fresh' install (versus wiping out all of your data and doing a 'clean' install) simply boot to your Recovery partition (hold down the Command and R keys whilst booting) and when the Recovery screen appears, elect to freshly install OS X.
Don't know that will solve your problem, though... did you do the 'automatic' update or download the update as a disk image (.dmg)? I wouldn't think that would be causing your problems...

  • I was wondering can they fix iphone 5  cause today i was on the ferry and a big wave hit the ferry and my whole clothes got wet now the iphone wont charge or no sound at all

anyone can help with this  i was wondering if apple care can fix the iphone 5 cause today wasnt my day wen i was on ferry back to the city a big wave hit the ferry and i got all wet and now the phone wont turn on or charge with no sound  i wanna know how much im looking for it to be fixed

Could be new or refurbished, there's no way to tell...they all come in a plain white box. Doesn't really matter though, as all refurbished iPhones get new batteries & cases.
You get a 90 day warranty or the balance of your original warranty, whichever is greater.

Don't post in all caps.  Besides being more difficult to read it's tantamount to shouting and is considered rude in forums.  What problems are you having? What model Mac do you have, how much RAM and free space on the boot drive?
Boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down) and try the following in order as needed:
1 - select Disk Utility and repair both the disk and disk permissions.  Reboot normally.
2 - reinstall the Mavericks system.

Reinstall whatever version you have a legitimate install disk for and then upgrade it with the combo updater. To install Tiger buy the box from a store - the one you got from somebody else's mac is configured for the hardware specific to that mac and is causing headaches with yours.

  • Upgraded Firmware now setup page wont open

I was having problems with the speed being between 30-58 kpbs when going through the WRT160N router, whether its hooked up wired or wireless, the speed with both was extremely slow and wouldnt fully open pager or would take dsl day slow. I hooked up straight to modem and I got 100+ kpbs so I figured its not my ISP, so I read that upgrading my firmware might make it faster, so I upgraded and hit and held the reset button for 30 secs like it recommended but now the 192.168.1.1 wont open, I get a message saying it cant open this page, any suggestions??
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Don't know what happened, but it magically worked before I tried to ping it. Of course upgrading the firmware didn't help the speed at all so it was a waste of time, for my first experience with a router it is starting to look like I made a poor discussion in brand. I have spent more time fixing this thing then enjoying it, well time to make another post thanx for the help.

  • I updated and now safari just wont start!

    so heres the deal:
    ibook 1ghz 14", 512 ram, 30gb, X 10.3.9.
So I updated to the latest security update, and now safari wont start - the icon just bounces once in the dok and dissapears.
I tried resetting the application bit using the chmod command, but to no avail.
So i redownloaded the 1.2 update, with no sucess.
I deleted safari (doh!) and tried to install from safari 1.0, but apparently that is not possible to install under my version of os x.
Im really reaching the end of my tether now - all my bookmarks etc are in safari - and whilst I can use the other multitude of browsers on my system Id rather be on safari (excuse the pun).
    Please please please help me!!!
Edit: Just tried to use software update, and that wont launch either :S
Edit: just found a related article after looking around the boards - please forgive me for not looking hard enough initially.
And for anyone having the same problem, check out: Saxman, "Post Security Update: NO Safari, Mail, Sftw Update, ...", 02:24am Aug 17, 2005 CDT
Edit: Well I tried the steps outlined in the above link - with no luck.
So I guess im still stuck & on checking them Im afraid to say that many of my apps wont launch, mail, safari, limewire, Software update to name but a few...
    any thoughts?
Edit: Well I guess I just didnt pay enough attention to the advice in the post linked above.
Where the instruction tells you to remove the webkit from within the system folder's library I was actually removing it from the global library on the root of the hard drive! :P
Ah well, all is fixed now - and infact my ibook seems to be running faster, and safari is definately running faster now
    Tally Ho!

It's not only Safari, it's every programm! The function is called "Resume" and will launch back the applications in the same way as you leaved them.
You can change it back in
System Preferences > General > Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps

  • Upgraded softeware now the phone no longer works

I upgraded my iphone to the new operqating software and now the phone will no longer work. The computer does not recognize it and all I get on the phone is a itunes symbol and a picture of a usb cord. I have tried reseting the phone and I continualy get the same thing.
    Any Ideas??????

Did you perhaps try to upgrade while airplane mode was on? If you did, disconnect your iPhone from your computer, then slide the emergency call switch and follow the prompt to disable airplane mode. Press the home button, connect your iPhone back to your computer and allow activation to take place.
Otherwise, take a look at this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275
