I just installed MacOS X Yosemite on my MacBook Air 2011. After installing Yosemite I installed the Photoshop Elements 12.1 upgrade, but now when I open the program and try to use the tools, the program freezes. How do I fix this problem?
If you use a trackpad and don't want to switch to a mouse, you can uninstall and reinstall all day long and will still have problems, but if you really want to try it, you can download PSE 12 here:

i have just got an ipad mini 2 and i am trying to back it up however it gets to step 4 then keeps saying syncing ipad but now wont change, what shall i do?
Hi Gavinchick,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Start with these tips if your iPad mini is stuck on "syncing" when you try to back it up:
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Plug the device directly into a high-power USB 2.0 port on the computer. If possible, use a USB port on the back of the computer.
Avoid plugging the device into a keyboard, display, or standalone hub. The USB ports on these accessories may be low-power or only offer USB 1.x connections.
If you are using an accessory, remove the accessory and connect the device to the computer using only the Apple 30-pin to USB Cable or Lightning to USB Cable.
If you have access to additional Apple 30-pin to USB Cable or Lightning to USB Cables, try testing with another if the first one doesn't work.
Restart your computer and device. To restart your device:
Hold the power button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the Sleep/Wake button to turn it back on.
Disconnect all USB devices from your computer, except for your keyboard and mouse. Then reconnect the iOS device. If the issue is resolved, reconnect other USB devices, testing after each connection.
You can find these steps and more information here:
iOS: Troubleshooting USB connection

I have purchased iPhone 3g device from my friend, I connected it to the iTunes to upgrade from 3.1 to 6.0 as many softwares were not being installed as iOS was not up to date. I upgraded but now I can not activate my device. What I should do now??? i am really feeling difficulty because i have been disconnected from the network.
I am from Pakistan. The 3G cannot be updated to iOS6, it can only go to iOS 4.2.1.
Activation issues are generally the result of the device being hacked or jailbroken. -
My macbook is 4 years old, i havent bought any upgrades but now i cant download the new itunes. Can i buy one upgrade and will it work or is there a way to get the new itunes?
Even a four-year-old MacBook should have come with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. Leopard can run the latest version of iTunes; it will download and install pretty much automatically if you run Software Update.
You might first have to be sure that you are running the latest version of Leopard, which is 10.5.8. This, too, will download and install for you if you run Software Update. Just keep running Software Update until there is nothing left to download and install (you might have to run it more than once because some updates require previous updates to be installed first).
If you have a version of Mac OS X earlier than 10.5, then you can't run the latest version of iTunes. You will need to buy a more recent version of Mac OS X. You must be running at least 10.4 Tiger, and you can upgrade directly to Snow Leopard from Tiger. Apple still sells Snow Leopard for about $30 and you might find it slightly less at a retailer or on eBay. After upgrading to Snow Leopard, you will be able to upgrade to Lion using the Mac App Store for another $30 or so if your MacBook meets the minimum system requirements. -
Safari 4.1 started crashing and now wont load at all...
Hi ..please help! Safari started crashing last night ('The Application quit unexpectedly....') and now wont start up again after a variety of attempts; just keep getting that message repeatedly. I have:
- repaired permissions and restarted
- deleted icon from dock then deleted app from folder then re installed Safari 4.1 for Tiger
- moved safari plist from Preferences to desktop
- emptied Safari cache folder
But it just keeps on trying to start up and giving me the crash window.

KFBHi KB
that is indeed the whole report - & the pertinent line is, as ~Bee said
image not found /System/Library/Frameworks/Security.framework/Security
What this means is - Safari tries to load another piece of software, and can't - either because it's missing or damaged somehow.
you didn't attempt to remove anything manually whilst trying to get Safari re-loaded... ?
If not, I do suggest you use Disk Utility while booted from your install disk to Verify the HD, and then startup normally & repair disk permissions from Disk Utility found in Applications/Utilities/
If that all seems fine, obviously you need to get that file replaced, and hope that it's the only one missing/mangled ( often does seem to be the case )
Either archive/install Tiger, followed by all necessary software updates
or
Hope that it's part of the 10.4.11 combo - http://support.apple.com/kb/DL170 assuming that the file doesn't stop Installer from running.
or
bring /System/Library/Frameworks/Security.framework over from another mac running the same OS version, place it exactly where it should be, and hope that it's the only thing missing/mangled ( often does seem to be the case )
I don't know if it's part of the 10.4.11 combo, haven't a copy to hand. Also, there might have been other reasons, (and a whole different report), why Safari first started crashing. So you may find the archive/install less trouble overall. -
Constant restarts after upgrade but apple wont do anything.
Hello all
I have been having a difficult issue that it seems apple has trouble fixing and so has everyone Ive talked to as well. I tried the MBP section with no luck so Im going to try here.
After upgrading to Maverick from snow leopard I have started getting GPU panics at a rate of 1 or 2 a week when I had none before the upgrade to Maverick. I do have a 2010 MBP 15in which I knew could have bad gpu's but I had my laptop checked for the TS4088 error after the first 2 panics. My machine tested good and passed the VST test or atleast that is what I asked to have run at the store basically i told them i wanted it tested for the ts4088 issue. Now I gave them the fact of the matter as the first 2 panic seemed to happen in the same application(garrys mod), but now there is no pattern in applications(mail, quicktime, vlc, firefox, word, Premiere). I have also been having the computer go black recently with no luck getting to wake up as if its forced to sleep but doesn't respond to any commands to wake it back up but also doesn't cause an official crash report to show up.
Now I have reset the SMC/PRAM and updated everything on the system and run a HDD smart test and memory test which all passed. Now I know the logitech driver doesnt cause the crash as i dont have it installed on my windows/bootcamp side and I get the equivalent of a gpu panic as the kernel crashes on the nvidia card when its active and nothing fixes that as well.
Now i have seen using the gfxCardStatus should fix my issue but I need to use my nvida card for video editing and shot rendering so i cant be stuck on the internal. I have also exceeded the 3 year length as I was trying to see if i could fix my laptop before handing it over as I cant be without a laptop as they are required for my classes and job at college and since it passed the VST the genius said I would have to pay for the more detailed inspection by the backroom tech's which at the time I didnt want to pay to fail a class. I showed him the logs but as I only had 2 at the time he told be it must have been that application and sent me on my way as I didnt want to pay for more inspection maybe the tech just too busy as our store is always packed.
This hasn't been my first logic board failure either I had the first go out the first year when the USB bus gave out from what im guessing was some surge caused by my power brick shorting out internally and almost catching fire.
Here is my most recent crash log this is the exact same message ive been getting for each crash.

So is it possible to past the VST but still have a bad GPU? I have tried everything I can come up with with no luck so far without resorting to tearing down the laptop and having to inspect the boards with some of my EE friends. Would running the test again help?If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore. -
Well everthing stands in the titel
It used to work as soon as i restarted my router but after an hour the iPod or perhaps the router, wont let me acces the appstore or itunes or the games center...
Its my first iPod and i guess i didnt configured the router´s w-lan well or something...I restored the Pod,I did all 4 steps in the support twice and i reinstalled my routers software+firmware but now im running out of ideas to solve this problem...(used to solve´em myself)
I have a PC win XP sp2 if it helps..
I hope some Apple-Pro knows the issue and closes this bloody case >.<Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall for the network problem.
Also for the original problem try the following if Ana's suggestions does not work
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

My Mac Turns on But it Wont Load
I got a prompt for an update last night. So I updated it as I always do and it restarted but it never loaded up. It turned on and I just got a blank screen, I was REALLY tired and while I was 'giving it time' I fell asleep and woke up 3 hours later to the same blank screen! I held down the power button and it restared to again the blank screen. I was gonna go to the Apple Store but I figured I'd save myself the trip. What do I do?!
I got my Leapord upgrade 2 weeks ago but I never had any problems, what's up?
THANKS!
KatherineThe flashing folder sign is the Mac's way of telling that a bootable disc cannot be found. Since the computer is new, it is unlikely, but not unheard of, to have a hard disk failure (don't blame Apple, they don't make their own HD's). If you are new to OS10-4/5 you may have needed to repair permissions before installing the update, but regardless the HD is having problems. You should be able to boot the computer by putting in the DVD that came with it, holding down the "c" key while turning on the system ( which tells the computer to boot from the CD/DVD in the machine ). Keep the "c" key held down until the rotating bars show on the screen just below the Apple logo, then you can release it. Navigate to the utilities folder on the DVD and then repair the disk, this should enable you to boot using the HD unless there is a failed HD or other hardware problem. Since it is new, you can call Applecare or take it to an Apple store to have it checked out.

Mac Pro 1,1 - Bought It To Upgrade But Now...
Hi all
I'm by no means a power user - I just got my Mac Pro back in '06 under the line of reasoning that I wanted the MP so I could upgrade it later on... specifically, the video card and maybe the processors eventually...
But now it looks like the only option for a video upgrade is the Radeon 4870 and upgrading the processor isn't really economically worthwhile...
As I said, not a power user - just someone who wanted more "ummph" than the iMac could give... how do others feel about this? Should I have gotten an iMac?
BTW, this is stemming from my discovery today that Starcraft II isn't even supported on my 7300GT... not even runs slow, just period not supported...
Thoughts?
-JustinHi
Took a quick peek around and it seems that (at Amazon, for instance), a single Xeon 5355 is ~$900... to me, this seems that upgrading the processors would not be cost-effective, as compared to just buying a new machine? Mainly because the new machine would bring so many other benefits, no?
Although, there does seem to be a wide range of prices - any idea why that is?
I'm not necessarily looking to tinker - I had just hoped to have more "official" options with video cards and such... everything about the MP is good for, it's just the video card...
On a side note - wondering if you can answer another question since you said you have a MP 1,1... is it still using the original 5150 processor? If so, are you able to measure the CPU power usage? I ask because mine draw a lot more power under recent revisions of OS X - naturally, this causes the temperature to go up lots...
Thanks again

Upgraded but now I only see a big black square instead of video.
specify your operating system (including 32bit or 64bit); Windows XP Service Pack 3, but I don't know how to check what bit.
specify your web browser and version (including 32bit or 64bit); IE-7 says 128bit.
specify your Flash Player version (check http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html); You have version 10,1,82,76 installed

I've read some of the similar discussions, but they get complicated and so user specific, I decided to start my own. I got an upgrade notification this morning and accepted it, but now I cannot view videos from my regular news site.
I can't figure out how to paste screenprints of the other info requested in the other discussions (filenames in the folders), but I was able to at least confirm that my shockwave add on is enabled.
Thanks for any help.Hi, ok. On the H.A. still disabled-ok. On ESET upgrades, I should have said did you change programs like XP to Win7. They do update daily or more with new definitions, that is no problem If your program was ESET NOD32 Anti-Virus and it still is, then ok on that.
When you take a look at your IE add ons, just let me know what add ons are there that are for ESET. I reviewed the AV, but they have many features and I couldn't pinpoint any other than SysInspector and SysRescue. And I'm not sure of them. Anything in the browser is what I am looking for that is ESET related.
Your Flash files for IE are all correct. However you also have Flash files for a non-IE browser, whether that is Firefox I don't know. Let me know and what version it is.
In the Flash files for the non-IE browser you have the FlashPlayerTrust folder, Right click on it to Open and post back all files in it please.
Just confirm the Shockwave Flash Object in the IE add ons that it is vs 10.1.82.76 or Flash10i.ocx.
On the black screen on those two sites, it could be that under the Global Settings manager, the third party content needs to be allowed.
Go to : http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager02.htm l
You should see two boxes to put a check mark into.
Thanks,
