Upgraded from 4.1 to %, auth questions broke

Hello,
I updated my lighthouse system 4.1 -5.0, (I know we're far behind), and my authentication question functionality broke.
Basically when someone tries to update their auth questions, it either fills them in blank, or a random set of characters is added in the field. Of course we didnt notice this until we rolled out into prod either. Luckily it hasnt been that big of an issue yet.
Any suggestions?

Hi jbyrnes,
Are you still using the gateway for 4.1? If so try to use the gateway for v5. Sometimes problems may occur due to incompatibility of gateway also. If this works or if you come up with a solution yourself pls let me know.
All The Best!!

  • Upgrade from CS2 to CS5 multi-questions

    A few questions actually..
I very recently just bought an upgrade from Photoshop CS2 to CS5. Everything went well but I don't understand a few, possibly trivial, things.
During the installation process, I in no way had to supply information about my CS2 licence to prove that I even have it. How do you guys make sure that someone who doesn't own a previous version of Photoshop isn't saying that they want an upgrade, thus avoiding the full price of the product?
Also, when you upgrade, does your old previous version license become deactivated? Are you suppossed to remove it from your computer or some other process?
Lastly, when I downloaded the upgrade, I downloaded both CS5 for 32 and 64 bit by default as they were both there. Do I need both on my computer and what's the difference between using/having the two?
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit to clarify.
    Thanks in advance!

If you purchased and upgrade then it should ask for a qualifying serial number.  It is also possible you purchased an upsell which means you were basically given a copy of the full version at a discounted price.  The qualification process is done when you purchase the software.
You can continue to use your CS2 license.  You can not however sell it as it is qualifying you to utilize CS5.
For questions about 64-bit I would recommend reviewing http://blogs.adobe.com/scottbyer/2006/12/64_bitswhen.html

  • Upgrade from CS5.5 to CS6 questions

Why do I have two versions of photoshop now?  CS5 and CS6?
The upgrade from CS5 to CS6 didn't replace my older version.
How do I move my actions, plugins, etc to the newer version?
Copy and paste of folders caused runtime errors when I tried to run CS6

The upgrade from CS5 to CS6 didn't replace my older version.
As it should be. Feel free to uninstall CS5.
How do I move my actions, plugins, etc to the newer version?
For actions, brushes, styles etc simply use the flyout menus in the top right corner of the respective palettes. Plug-ins must be properly updated with qualified versions for CS6 as provided by the vendors.

  • CSS Software upgrade from sg0720003 to 8.20 questions

    Questions:
    1. To go from 7.20.3 to 8.20.x - do I need to go to a intermediate version first.
    2. On Cisco Softwrae Sownload site for CSS, I can see 3 files as follows:. Which one do I use to upgrade?

    Size: 20292.92 KB  (20779946 bytes)
    3. Any gotchas / traps to remember before the upgrade.
    4. Is the prefered upgrade method - Manual or Automatic - Any advantages / disadvantages of either method?
    5. Is there a document with the upgrade procedure only?

    Hi,
You need to upgrade to an intermediate version of the software before you can upgrade to 8.20.  Acceptable versions are 7.30.4.02, 7.40.2.02 and 7.50.1.03. This is documented in Appendix A of the CSS 8.20 Admin manual - as is the upgrade procedure. AFAIK this is the only document that describes the update process.
For the upgrade you can use either the .adi or .adi.gz file - the CSS will automatically decompress the gzip version if you choose to use it.
Check the Release Notes for any changes to syntax for commands that you use.
I've used the automatic update process - assuming that the script would know what to do.  I did make sure that I had backups of the config archived on the CSS and on the FTP server - along with certificates.

  • Upgrading From Tiger to Snow Leopard Questions

I might upgrade my Mac OS X Tiger 10.4 on my iMac to Snow soon and was wondering if there was a way I could have Snow be on an external drive. I was at my local Apple Specialist store and one of the employees hooked up an external HDD to my computer with I think either Snow or Lion on it. Don't know which. My question is, would it be possible to run Snow on an External HDD while also still having Tiger on my iMac? I like Tiger, and would like to continue using it, but the person told me it would be good to upgrade since my OS is older. I would like to continue using Tiger but at the same time want to use Snow too. So would it be possible to run Snow Leopard on an external HDD while keeping all my files/etc on my Tiger?

If we keep this strictly as a theoretical discussion, the answer is "yes" or "maybe". But I need to explain some context or qualification on that answer in the way I have my system set up.
I set up my system so my home dir is always on its own volume.  The boot volume is always separate.  That way I can switch to any boot volume and continue to use my same home dir.   So if I upgrade my system I can always fall back on the older system or use a backup of the current system if it fails in some way.
Now here's where I qualify that answer.  I always recommend never upgrading a system without having backups to fall back on.  So, say for example, I go from 10.6.5 to 10.6.6 I always can just boot from my 10.6.5 boot drive for comparison purposes and to revert to it if the update is total disaster.  In all cases I am still using my same home dir because it is on a different drive (and of course it has backups too).  But these kind of updates are all within the same version of "cat", 10.6.x in this case (all Snow Leopard updates).  So that is why I answer "yes".
Going from one "cat" to another is why I say "maybe".  So if I update 10.5 to 10.6, or 10.6 to 10.7 IMO, all bets are off.  There's no way to know for sure except by trying (which is no big deal since I always have backups). This is due to possible file system changes, finder changes, and who knows what else changes.  Hence, "maybe".
If you want to keep two systems with your home dir on those respective systems, of course you can always do that.  It's your choice.  But then keeping them in sync is a pain.  So for this kind of setup it's probably simpler to just bite the bullet and upgrade and use only a single OS.

  • Upgrading from 4GB to 12GB slot question

Hi. I searched a bit, but didn't find a quick answer.
I have a late 09 iMac with 4GB (2x2) installed. I just bought two 4GB sticks on OWC for $239 and they're on the way.
My question is this: Would it make any difference at all if I put these two memory modules in the 3 and 4 slots -- or would I gain any benefit from putting them in slots 1 and 2 and moving the smaller modules to 3 and 4.
    Thanks for your advice.

    Hi,
to my knowledge there is no benefit to moving the old modules before installing the new ones.
    No speed-gain in doing so.

  • Upgrading from 3GS to 4, some questions

Hi everyone! I've had the 3GS since January and have been very happy with it, and will be upgrading to the iPhone 4 in a few days for Christmas. Long story short, we will be transferring the 3GS to my sister on her contract and I will be getting the new one, so basically I want to completely reset the 3GS to factory settings. However, I was wondering if it is possible to backup everything on it (ie, games, text message history, contacts, notes, videos, etc.) and then just transfer them over to my newer model come the 25th. I know iTunes has a backup option for the iPhone, I'm just not sure if it will allow me to do this.
So in essence I want my new iPhone to be the exact same as my old one other than the looks and new features. Just wondering if iTunes can automatically do this, or if I will have to look for a third-party program. If so, could you kindly explain to me how I would accomplish this? Thanks guys!

All iTunes content on your iPhone - all music, movies, tv shows, and 3rd party apps should be in your iTunes library on your computer. All photos transferred from your computer should also be available on your computer. No iTunes content and photos transferred from your computer are included with your iPhone's backup.

  • Upgrade from SNow Leopard to Tiger question.

I have Max OS X 10.6.8 with Intel Core Duo. I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard. Can I upgrade to Tiger even though I do not have Inter Core 2 Duo?

Take time and read many discussions about Lion first.  New concepts like can make life interesting:
No physical install disks, but downloaded over internet when you need to reinstall
A hidden Recovery Partition that must be protected during customizations of disk partitions
    PPC applcations no longer run
Scrolling is "backwards" to what SL has because it behaves more like iPads than computers
Lion-original machines cannot run any OS prior to Lion, so no "SL partition for running PPC applications"
I am not saying "do not upgrade", just "read first".  Those who run Lion will help you with any Lion issues.
As to upgrading the hardware ... good luck with that.  Look on "ifixit.com" or Google it, but I have built PCs (installed the CPUs myself) and it can be trickybusiness.

  • Want to upgrade from CS3 [Design Premium] to CS5

    Hi,
Want to upgrade from Design Premium CS3 to CS5 and saw there's a difference in price from upgrading from CS4 & CS3. Dumb question: If I bought the CS5 upgrade, would I be able to install the suite or would it ask for the previous CS4 version? If it only asks for CS3 I would really save some $$$$$$.
    Can you help,
    Ellen

What do you mean, there is a difference between upgrading from CS3 and CS4? An upgrade is an upgrade, there is only one price for an upgrade.
In CS4 (and CS5) Adobe introduced tiered upgrade pricing for suites only.
    http://www.adobe.us/products/photoshop/photoshop/faq/
What is Adobe's tiered upgrade pricing policy?
Adobe's tiered upgrade pricing policy offers customers who upgrade at every release a lower upgrade price relative to customers who upgrade less frequently. This means that customers upgrading to Creative Suite 5 from Creative Suite 4 will pay a lower upgrade price compared to customers upgrading from an earlier version of Creative Suite.
Why does Adobe offer tiered upgrade pricing?
Customers who upgrade regularly have long requested better pricing compared to those who upgrade infrequently. Adobe introduced tiered upgrade pricing in 2008, with the launch of Creative Suite 4, to reward these customers.
Does tiered pricing also apply to individual Creative Suite components?
No. The tiered upgrade policy applies only to editions of Adobe Creative Suite and not to upgrades to individual components, such as After Effects, Flash Professional, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and so on. Customers can upgrade to the CS5 version of individual CS components from up to three versions back. The only exception is Adobe Premiere Pro; customers can upgrade to Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 from any earlier version of Adobe Premiere.

  • If I skip Lion and upgrade from Snow Leopard, will there be a price difference?

I know you can upgrade from the most recent Snow Leopard to Mountion Lion. However, I have heard I may get change more if I don't upgrade from Lion first. My question is, is it true?

    No.

  • Interview questions on upgrades from 4.7 to ECC

    Hi,
Can any one please post some potential areas/questions that will be asked for upgrade projects from 4.7 to ECC6.0
    Points will be awarded.
    Thanks

    Hi Frank,
this is good question,  why because sap upgrades from 4.6b to ecc 6.0 is very risky.
take one example , in 4.5b , me21n application having 620 screen where as in ecc 6.0 having 9000 screen . that time we will take care of it.
check the obsolete function modules ,  4.5b , having ws_upload, ws_download.... use cl_gui_frontend_services , under these having differnt type of methods.
once you change the code in ecc , go to tranx : SLIN check the error where it is exact.

  • I've read similar questions and answers, but I am still terrified to upgrade from leopard to snow leopard. The only reason I want to is because I received an iPad which requires an updated system. I have an external hard drive. I have the disks to upgrade

I've read similar questions and have studied the answers, but I am still terrified to upgrade from leopard to snow leopard on my macbook pro. The only reason for doing it is in order to sync my macbook pro with my iPad. I do have an external drive which automatically backs up every hour. BUT.......I am techno-ignorant as well as techno-paranoid. I have the disks to update to snow leopard but knowing doing so may likely change/alter/lose/obliterate my current set-up, it actually makes me feel sick to think of it.
Years ago when updating via Apple Protection Plan tech support, my screen actually went blank, everything gone! The tech told me not to worry, that "we" would be able to restore things, but several hours later I was still looking at a primitive looking screen that wasn't anything like what I had before. His language was too technical, in that there was an assumption I understood things I had zero understanding of. Example: partition my external drive.
Anyway, living hundreds of miles from an Apple service provider, and no Apple techs in my community, I had to wait for a trip to an Apple Store where one of the wonderful guys at the genius bar spent a ton of time getting things back to normal and actually explaining it enough that I had a vague understanding.
So now I am in the predicament again and won't know what to do after installing the new disks and finding a likely mess or absence of documents etc. on my computer. I don't know how to access the external drive, and even if I did I wouldn't know how to move stuff from that to my computer.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm in the same boat as you, I've used Mac's since day one and neglected my Windows education and now it has come to haunt me as I have to learn it like a school kid.
Nearly 99% of all businesses and nearly 95% of everyone use Windows, Steve Jobs declared "The desktop wars are over, Microsoft won" a long time ago.
By 2015 tablets are going to be selling to consumers more than traditional computers, your living proof, you got a iPad.
Apple has already discontinued the Xserver, the Xraid, the MacBooks and the 17" Macbook Pro.
Apple has introduced BootCamp in OS X 10.6 and up, this allows a partition and drivers so one can install Windows on a Mac.
    https://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
Why do you think they named it "BootCamp"
You can't run a older OS X version longterm like you have with 10.5 anymore, Mac's are being targeted for attacks and older OS X versions are dropped for security updates.
In fact your Mac might still be part of the 750,000 Mac strong Flashback botnet or infected.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trojan_BackDoor.Flashback
    http://arstechnica.com/apple/2012/04/how-to-check-forand-get-rid-ofa-mac-flashba ck-infection/
See here, Apple has no security updates for 10.5 users and soon 10.6 is going to be ignored next.
    https://support.apple.com/kb/ht1222
1-1.5 years is the OS X upgrade cycle. Change everytime like it or not.
So I'm thinking about your long term future and how you obviously don't like change, need local assistance like it appears you first claimed.
So buy a new Mac and upgrade your OS X version whenever Apple shows it in AppStore.
When your machine can no longer upgrade to the newest OS X version, then you've got about another 2 more years of security updates before you have to buy a new machine or risk running a insecure one.
Learn here how to go about fixing your own machine and creating backups/bootable clones this way your not having to drive several hundred miles for a software or boot drive repair. Simply reverse clone your troubles away.
    Most commonly used backup methods
    https://discussions.apple.com/community/notebooks/macbook_pro?view=documents
I'm of the maturity and experience that I know a Mac isn't always the best solution for everyone and even Apple doesn't provide the proper hardware, support or features for everyone. Why only store locations in high traffic ritzy areas?
Our SteveJobs fan here is under 18 years old with good eyes, he's not older like we are with bad or failing eyesight.
The new Mac's  have hard to see glossy screens and the type/UI can't be scaled up easily to accomadate our older eyes, however a Windows 7 machine does allow up to 150% scale of the UI, type etc., and also there are anti-glare screen PC's and just about no more anti-glare screen Mac's.
I wrote this User tip in case you have trouble seeing the screen, at least you can scale the web browsing up
Web browsing for hard of seeing users
Apple might still be selling the anti-glare 15" non-retina on their online store, it's the "high resolution/anti-glare model"
But I can get a 17" 1080i HD anti-glare Windows 7 laptop at Sager for a lot more performance and screen size for the price than a Mac.
    https://www.sagernotebook.com/index.php?page=category_browse&selected_cat=2
Screen size is important as the UI and text can be scaled up for easier reading.
Of course you do now have the option of having Windows pre-installed alongside OS X to begin your transition to the dark side.
Just call and they will accomondate, hold the option/alt key at boot time to swtich operating systems.
    http://www.macmall.com/
Windows 7 looks just as good as OS X, the secret is having a good monitor with most PC's come with don't.
Good Luck and I hope I've given you a lot to think about.

  • Purch. & installed upgrade from iLife 2 to iLife 08, but I have questions..

    Hi ~
_Purchased & installed upgrade from iLife 2 to iLife 08, but I have questions..._
First I made sure I backed up my 5,500 photos in iPhoto to an external hard drive. (The only downfall to this backing-up process is that I haven't found an easy way to back-up the comments attached to each photo. Any advice on this? Part of the "horror" to losing one's photos is also losing the comments added to them over the years.)
Back to the install... I installed iLife 08 and it installed correctly. I checked to see what version of the applications I have in the dock on my desktop - I figured it would just import existing data (photos, tunes, etc.) into the newer version and replace it in the dock - +it only did this for iDVD+, of course it wasn't that easy for the others.
I can't find the newer version of iPhoto. My iPhoto in the dock still says version 2. iTunes in my dock is version 7 (7.4.2). iMovie is version 3 (3.0.3). But the new Garageband is there in the dock. And of course, iDVD is the newer version '08.
I am most concerned with iPhoto and making sure all the photos AND their comments import correctly into the newer iPhoto 08. I am nervous about this so I want to make sure I do the process correctly.
I also want to make sure my iTunes information imports correctly to the newer version as well.
    Thank you.
    Sincerely,
    Kathy

(The only downfall to this backing-up process is that I haven't found an easy way to back-up the comments attached to each photo. Any advice on this? Part of the "horror" to losing one's photos is also losing the comments added to them over the years.)
If you backed up the iPhoto Library Folder then you got everything - photos, albums, comments etc
I can't find the newer version of iPhoto. My iPhoto in the dock still says version 2. iTunes in my dock is version 7 (7.4.2). iMovie is version 3 (3.0.3). But the new Garageband is there in the dock. And of course, iDVD is the newer version '08.
The Dock is not important. Look in your Applications Folder for iPhoto 08. That's where it should be. The Dock is just a shortcut to that. What version is in your Apps folder?
To upgrade a Library from v2 to iPhoto 08 all you do is open the Library with the newer version.

  • Cannot 'Unmark Blank' for FIB Questions after Upgrade from CP4 to CP5 (Fill in the Blank)

    Hi Everyone!
I'm having trouble editing a fill in the blank question that was upgraded from CP4 to CP5.
The problems is I cannot see where the blank is.  Not the blank in my sentence, I have that, but the entry box. When running the course the blanks are at the TOP LEFT corner fo the slide.
but when creating the course I can't see where the blanks are, to move them.....
So to Troubleshoot, I thought I'd re-construct the answers, I clicked the sentence, and clicked unmark ... but it does not unmark....
<EDIT> Okay I got it to unmark, sorta, but not really. Now I have three answer boxes on the test in run mode, but cant see ANY in CP5 when building it. </EDIT>
    Hmmmmm
    Anyone got ideas?
(re-constructing the question on a new slide is not desired, I have hundres of questions, considering my 30 courses.
    Thank you!

    Hello,
Sorry, but I do not understand your question quite well, it is an editing issue when upgrading. Perhaps it would help if you posted some screenshots?
And to be sure: did you install the patch for CP5 released in December?
