Upgraded from 5.3 to 5.6: lost all my presets! (W7 x64)
I have my catalog, but all my user develop presets are gone. I'm searching my computer but am not finding them. Is there a way to extract a preset that was applied to a RAW? In the history, I see the name of the preset i applied. How can I recover them?

I understand that. My User Presets may still exist, but I can't find them in a windows search. I think the 5.6 installer erased them?
It did default to an older catalog, but I just opened my latest catalog from an external drive so my recent work is represented but my PRESETS are no where to be seen. I can reinstall some of my purchased Develop presets, but it sucks that my latest tweaked user presets are gone.

Upgraded from ios4 to ios 6 and lost all apps i had downloaded and some photos?
I upgraded an ipad2 from ios4 to ios 6 and once all was done, all my apps, purchased and free ones were gone - and some of my pictures. Any idea? I do not dare doing another "resore backup" ... Any help?
A few comments:
You will eventually be able to retrieve all your apps. You will be able to go to the App Store on your iPad, click "Updates" in the lower right, click "Purchased" and re-download them from there (but be careful - download them one at a time).
It sounds like the reason the photos and apps did not appear is you may have run out of memory on the iPad. The new iOS offers more features, and is somewhat bigger than the old. Check Settings > General > Usage and see how much space you have left and what the big space consumers are. You should do housekeeping to get an absolute minimum of 10% of the space on your iPad free. For example, if you have a 16GB iPad, you would need absolutely no less than 1.6GB free.
You said "I do not dare doing another restore ...". On the contrary, you should update your iOS at every opportunity to avoid these giant updates such as you just did. You went from iOS 4 to 6, which means it's been over a year and a half since your last update. If you did them more frequently, they would be less dramatic. -
In Windows 7, Firefox 8.0 does not ask to save passwords, and does not save, them, even though I checked the box to save passwords. I have confirmed that clearing history is not on and that I am not in Private Browsing. This is so frustrating, it almost makes me want to go back to Vista. I have looked at all the suggestions to fix the problem in "Help" and have followed the suggestions, and none of them help.
I have the TX2 1012NR and its can upgrade just fine! Here is a few recommendations "only if u have the HP Upgrade program disks"
If you have them you can install a clean copy and delete everything... Do not use the use me first disk included because it prompts you to install an older BIOS.... Just use the windows 7 upgrade disk and start the process. The clean install clears your entire drive but does not void your warranty! When you use the use me first disk after the install it actually loads everything else needed to get you up in running. The touchscreen driver and the HP Mediasmart programs will have to be downloaded from the HP support site. Once again its recommended that if there were any programs installed delete them do not try to update them! This causes issues and countless errors. Specifically with touchscreen drivers etc uninstall them before installing the ones from HP support. I found this was not the easy way to do it but the best way... I also recommend that when doing any sort of BIOS update that you remove your Battery and leave it connected to a power cord only! Last but not least if you really mess up and its under warranty... Send it to HP they will set it back up to factory defaults under Windows Vista with the more up to date BIOS installed. I hope my information helps! Sure you might loose some programs but in the end your computer runs faster and smoother because all the programs installed are made for Windows 7.... Hi, I just updated my mac from version10.6 to 10.9.3 os mavericks. i went to open iPhoto and it says "Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade." does this mean I have lost all photos i had in there? It does not give me a choice, it just says quit or upgrade? p.s. i didn't realise ther was a way to back up my computer beforehand, which i am guessing this is time machine?
1. No, you haven't.
2. Back up the iPhoto library(this can be done through Time Machine or by dragging it to a drive, partition, or disk image formatted as Mac OS Extended) and then click Upgrade.
3. Aside from Time Machine and drag-copying items from your home folder, programs such as the Disk Utility, Carbon Copy Cloner, and SuperDuper can make backups.

Same thing happened to me. From what I have read, if you sign into icloud, can you see your contacts there? If so, there is a procedure to get them back on your phone.

When I upgraded my iPhone 4s to IOS7, I lost all my app icons. Where did they go? Interestingly they are still listed in notifications and I could play words with friends when I got a message on the home screen that it was my turn (but still no icon)

i connected my iphone 5 to my computer for the first time since i got it and it didnt give me any option and just started to restore it from my iphone 4s. ive now lost all my pictures that were on it. Is there a way i can get them back as i did not want it to restore my old phone anyway! i also had my hone set up to the cloud and it didnt work! PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME
Can you try to use another computer?
If this does not work, visit an Apple Store or an Authorized Apple Service Provider next to your place, and show them the phone, maybe they can restore it before you'll have to get it serviced.
Did you try to put it in recovery mode?

Exclamation mark appears instead of photo. Recently upgraded from i mac to Macbook air and all was transferred over. I have run all the repair and rebuild functions in iphoto. Any other solution?
Since iPLM failed to help try the following:
Starting over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
1. Open the library package like this.
2. Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
3. Drag the subfolders of the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the open iPhoto Library package into the open iPhoto window a few at a time.
This will create a new library with the same Events (but not necessarily the same Event names) as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.
Note: your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

All media should be in iTunes on the computer, simply sync it back.

My aunt recently upgraded her software to ios 6 and lost all of her contacts. However, when I updated my software this did NOT happen. She hasn't backed up to iCloud, so does anyone know of a way to restore her contacts without the iCloud?

The iphone is designed to be synced to your computer or cloud service regularly. If she failed to do this, then they are likely gone. -

Also check the print queue to see if a print job has gotten stuck. Click the home button twice and you should see recently used programs across the bottom of the screen. Scroll across to find the print queue.

If you never synced your phone to your computer and your contacts were not synced to iCloud or another cloud-based service, everything is gone. You will have to start fro scratch.

Repair the Hard Drive - Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported.
Clone Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion using Restore Option of Disk Utility
1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu then press the Continue
button.
2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
4. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it
to the Destination entry field.
5. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to
the Source entry field.
6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the internal drive. Source means the external startup drive. -

You have to look at the manufacturer's web site, if there are recent updates to 64 bit. For some plug-ins recent updates have been available. But you cannot turn a 32-bit plug-in into a 64-bit plug-in by setting an option. It needs to be compiled differently for a different architecture.
