Upgraded iOS 7 in iPad 2 - microphone stopped working
I recently upgraded my iPad 2 to iOS 7 and I also updated my apps to ios7 compatible. But I realized that my microphone has stopped working when I try to make a call through skype. I can hear the person I'm calling but they can't hear me. I also tried using other apps just to test my mic, like recording my own voice, but still I can't hear my recording after playing it back. I have also tried using my headset's mic, still nothing. I figured out it's the update because if this is hardware issue, I should still be able to use the mic through the headset if my built in mic has been damaged. Help! Any suggestions on fixing this?
I have the same problem. I did speak to a rep before my warantee was up and he helped me do a factory reset that didn't work at all. Explained to the rep that many people are having this same problem since the ios7 update. He totally ignored what I said and insisted that it must be a hardware problem that I should take it to my local apple store and have it fixed. That close to x-mas, I didn't have time to drive an hr to our nearest store.
Warantee is gone now and all I have is an expensive gaming board. That's all its good for anymore, that or target practice.
APPLE Techy's............if you are listening; put together a decent ios so we can all have our mic's back please. Otherwise, expect to lose a lot of customers and money. And quit saying its a hardware issue; we all know you screwed up the software and don't want to admit it.

My iPhone 4s does not ring for incoming calls. Ring tone set and used to ring. I think it has something to do with updating the IOS 7.0.4. When I updated to 7.0.3 the microphone stopped working. Had to call Apple Support and cleared phone and reloaded. ($57 charge). Any suggestions?
Start with your finger at the bottom of the screen (about even with the home button) and swipe in an upward motion. There should be a row of icons at the top of a grey field. if the quarter-moon icon is bright white, tap it. If it was (and still is) dark, take the iPhone in to be evaluated by a qualified technician.

USB Microphone stopped working in 10.6.2
I have a CyberAcoustic headset that worked perfectly in 10.5 but since I upgraded to 10.6.2, the microphone stopped working (sound output to headphones still works perfectly). I checked the System Preferences Audio panel, the "USB Device" (which is my headset) is selected for input and the level is set to max. I tried it on three different machines, two of which were running 10.6.2 and one 10.5.7 and got the same result - 10.5.7 works perfectly while 10.6.2 doesn't. Are there any recommendations as to how to troubleshoot it and figure out what could be wrong? My uneducated guess would be that there's some device ID is missing in plist but I'm not sure about which one.
Any ideas?

Sorry if I missed it - did you run 'Audio MIDI Setup' (/Applications/Utilities) and see if settings there mesh with your current configuration expectations, etc.... -

It appears your iPhone has an issue relating to sound. The following article may help you find a solution:
If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker - Apple Support
Can't hear anything from the built-in speaker of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch? Maybe you can hear, but the sound is distorted, muffled, intermittent. Or maybe you hear static or crackling noises. If your iOS device has any of these issues, follow these steps.
Follow these steps and test the sound after each one.
Go to Settings > Sounds and drag the Ringer And Alerts slider to turn the volume up.
If you can hear sound from the speaker, then the speaker works. Continue with these steps to find the setting or switch that's affecting the sound. If you can't hear sound from the speaker, contact Apple Support.
Make sure the Ring/Silent switch is set to ring. If you can see orange, it's set to silent.
Restart your device.
Open an app that has music or sound effects. Adjust the volume with the volume buttons or the slider in Control Center.
Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn off Bluetooth.
If there's still no sound, connect a headset. If you can hear sound through the headset, remove it and clear any dust or debris from the headset jack of your device.
If the device is in a case, make sure that the case doesn't block the speaker.
Use a brush to gently clear any debris from the speaker and Lightning connector (or 30-pin dock connector). The brush should be clean and dry and have soft bristles.
Update your device to the latest version of iOS.
If you followed these steps and still hear no sound or distorted sound, contact Apple Support.

Wifi iPad 3 charger stopped working after updating to iOS 6. The little iPhone charger charges it very very slowly, but the charger gets really hot after a while. I restored it and everything works but the charger. It's only a few months old, should I try a new iPad wall charger block?

I did this after reading the forums and it made no difference. it has actually charged from 14% to 67% but thats taken over 12 hours.
Will monitor it and if no joy will go to a apple store

after upgrading to IOS8.1 my microphone stopped working. cannot make a call, cannot record a voice memo, but Siri works !!! Surely this must be software since I presume there are not two microphones, one for Siri and one for everything else. Tried resetting, rebooting, switching off noise cancelling. What else is there?

Not sure whether you want to upgrade to iOS 5 or you have iOS 5 and want to upgrade from it, but you can only update to the highest iOS 6 version that a device supports, which for an iPad 2 is 6.1.3. If you already have iOS 5+ then you should have a Settings > General > Software Update option on it for direct update update on it, otherwise you can only update via your computer's iTunes.
To update via your computer, connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand sidebar of iTunes and selecting 'Backup' (on iTunes 11 you can enable the left-hand sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC)

Hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears. If nothing has happened after holding for 30 seconds charge the phone for 15 minutes with the wall adapter and try again.

After updating to iOS 5.1. Photo stream stopped working on my iPad 2. I tried turning it off and on.reset the iPad too. I didnt do anything else to make photo stream stop working.I tried closing the camera app before trying to access photo stream and waited to see if it would upload to iCloud and nothing. Photo stream works fine on my iPhone 4. Advice and help please?
Having the same problem on my wife's iPad2. All settings are correct. If I take a pic with the iPad, it shows up on her iPhone4 in Photo Stream. When I access Photo Stream on her iPad2, there is nothing there. Here's the really weird part: when I add a photo to iMessage on her iPad2, it lets me select Photo Stream and the photos are there!!! Any fixes besides a restore???

Earphone microphone stopped working after IOS 6 update
As soon as I completed the updates on all my devices the earbud microphones stopped working! The reboot fix does not work...obviously due to a bug in the update! Anyone else having this issue?
I had this problem to so I called my network carrier O2 and the problem was when I updated using wifi it used my 3G data instead and used all my data up, apparently they don't charge you when you go over the limit but it runs super slow to a point you think it's stopped working. O2 gave me 1gig of data free to try it and its working fine now even better than ios5.1.1. Hope this helps

Microphone stopped working after Update
After upgrading my iPhone 5 to ios7.0.3, the microphone stopped working with calls on speakerphone or when asking Siri a question. I took it to the Genius bar where they verified that it was a hardware issue, and charged me $199+tax to get a replacement phone. That was after I talked them down from $269+tax.
This is an awesome scam - ruin your customers' hardware, and charge them to resolve it. The last Apple product I will ever by is this replacement phone. Look for my iPad, iPad mini, Apple TV, iPod Nano, my week old $1,900 MacBook Air, and this replacement iPhone 5 64Gb on eBay this weekend. It will take a little longer to liquidate my companies' Macs. Lesson learned: never trust your business to a company that makes the software and the hardware.
Note this is the 2nd replacement phone. The original iPhone 5 I bought died after about 6 months, and this one made it about another 6. I didn't realize I was buying a $700 disposable phone.try restoring it has new and then taking it in to apple

After installing Maverick on my macbook pro, imessage on my ipad and Iphone stopped working properly.
What I get is a RED exclamation and "Not Delivered". It happens even if i resend it over and over.
I have made sure that the 3 devices all have the same settins in iMessage.
I have made sure to try doing it from the same network and from the cell provider network.
I have tried rebooting all three devices.
The only way to get it to work on my iphone and iPad is to dissable it in Mavericks on my MacBook Pro.

On the iOS devices remove the Apple ID.
Set the device in to Airplane Mode (this breaks with the server)
Start with the iPhone to add back the Apple ID - only after you see the iPhone Number is Verified.
The Restart the Mac Version
Accept the pops ups that state what the iPhone is using.
Do same on iPad.

Microphone stopped working apparently after installing iOS 7. Any suggestions for a remedy?
It is NOT a coincidence. I had the same problem this morning, immediately after updating to IOS 7. (I had skipped updating previously, was still using IOS 5.)
Tried several things that didn't work, like turning the iPhone off and back on, resetting the Network, turning Airplane Mode on and off, turning Siri on and off, etc.

I tried the last suggestion, and it finally worked:
"reset through Settings → General → Reset → Reset All Settings."
And yes, it was a nuisance to have to redo all of the settings I'd added/changed from the 'default' but worth it to have dictation working.
I wanted to post this info in case others have had the same issue, even though this thread seems to be from a while back.

i have a problem with my iPhone 4 iOS 4.1 received on 28th September from the Apple Online Store.
When i call or when i am called, in the middle of the call (after about 2-3 minutes), my microphone stop working: so i can hear others but they can't hear me.
This happens usually when my phone switch from 3G to EDGE (3G -> °). In other apps the microphone works well.
Is this a software bug? Or is my iPhone faulty?
I looked in the forum but unlucky i didn't find a real help, because none seems to know what is the nature of this issue (i know other guys have a problem like mine).

I don't know if it's a coincidence, but it only started happening once I updated to the new OS 4.2
