I upgraded my iPad 2 to iOS6 following a prompt from the application icon.
Once that was complete, my iPad asked me to connect to iTunes which I did. iTunes then told me that it detected an iPad/iPod in recovery mode and I needed to have a newer version of iTunes to restore.
I've tried before to upgrade to a new version of iTunes but was advised my Mac was unable to support this due to the Mac's age and old operating system.
How, therefore, do I get back onto using my iPad 'cos at the moment, all I get when I switch it on is the 'connect to iTunes' symbols.
Help please, I'm getting withdrawal symptoms!

During a normal install of iOS 7.0.6 this does not happen but something clearly went wrong in your installation.
To fix this, connect to iTunes and restore to Factory. Hopefully your iPad will be working again and you can restore your iCloud backup during Setup.

The old version is in a subfolder of the Applications folder named "iWork '09". You can delete it if you wish, but be aware that many features of Pages have been dropped in the new version.

If it were too old, the App Store wouldn't download it.
Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion/Mavericks.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.

Hi, just tried updating my Itouch 5 to the newest upgrade on Itunes. Mid-way the Itouch screen displayed the image of the plug pointed to the Itunes Icon as if it was new. Then Itune as me if I wanted to restore. I really was sad to loose my kids videos but seemed to have no option, so I hit restore. Itunes proceeded to download the upgrade....again then I got this message
"iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes."
I chose restore again, then it proceeded to re-download the upgrade and present the same message. Help... How can I get my Touch up and working again? And does this mean I've lost my videos for good?

Sorry, without the Sync Key you can't use Sync to recover your personal data. If you have another device that was connected that Sync account, you can recover your Sync Key from that other device in the Password Manager on non-mobile devices. Norton has had over 5 months to work in their Firefox extensions, since the API's were locked for 4.0. Ask Norton why they pull this crap every time Mozilla releases a new version of Firefox. When Firefox 3.6 was released mid-January 2010, it took Norton until almost April to come up with a working version of their Firefox extensions.

You will have to restore/erase it to remove the Disabled status, then you can restore form a backup once it's up and running again, if you have a backup on iTunes or iCloud.
