Upgraded OSX to 10.6.4 and my .mac/me mail account has disappeared
Upgraded this morning, and my.mac/me mail account has disappeared.
When I "Add Account", I get this message..
"The account “MobileMe” already has this host name and user name."
ANy ideas?

As this sounds less like a machine-specific issue than a general OS or MobileMe issue, I would think you are more likely to find a solution in either of those two areas.

If you are using Safari as a web browser :-
Open Safari, go to Safari menu > Preferences > General, and put Google as the homepage. Then, choose Google as your default search engine.
If you are using Google Chrome as the web browser :-
Open Google Chrome.
In the top right corner of the page, click the Chrome menu Chrome menu > Settings.
In the "Search" section, select Google from the drop-down menu.

Since upgrading to iOS8 on my iPhone 4s and iPad 2, the Airplay option has disappeared, is this a known issue?
If you don't see the AirPlay icon in Control Center:
1. Turn off router, Apple TV and iPad
2. Turn on router and then wait 30 seconds for it to complete start-up process
3. Turn on Apple TV and then wait 30 seconds for it to complete start-up process
4. Turn on iPad and test AirPlay -

I have no idea what you're talking about, however my Mail stopped working when I
had to add a new e-mail address for my Hotmail account.
My new Hotmail address works, and seems to get e-mail from the old e-mail address,
which from I've read behaves as a "default" address for the old address.
Apple Mail is linked to my Hotmail account of the old e-mail address.
I no longer know my old password.
Apple Mail will not accept my new password for ny new Hotmail account.
Can someone help me solve this problem WITOUT COMPLICATED SOLUTION!
As I said I have no idea what a port, or SSL or authentication is!
If you do answer,please answer in vert simple steps that are easy to follow, and donlt make matters worse.

I got a software update message this morning and clicked install and restart. Now my e-mail icon has disappeared from the dashboard. How do I get it back?
Don't recall the exact wording. But it is the same in appearance as others. Anyway, problem solved using RogerWilmut1 reply to someone else. I opened Applications and got the icon back. Thanks for responding.

09 I Mac goes asleep ends up with a spinning disk on the screen and the mac will not respond has to be rebooted
First this:
In EnergySaver deselect "put the hard disk to sleep when possible". You must logout after the setting to make this effective.
This probably will not solve it, but let it be deselected.
When the issue is still there:
Open Terminal;
copy/paste following command (after every command hit "enter" key)
pmset -g | grep hibernatemode
when the answer is not 3 write it down;
then copy/paste following command
sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0
reboot
Open Terminal;
copy/paste following command
sudo rm /var/vm/sleepimage
after that type EXIT in Terminal and close Terminal.
This does following for you:
it will set the hibernatemode to zero: the sleepimage (a copy of the complete ram) will not be written and the space on the HD is freed up.
This sleepimage does not do anything for you but taking time at sleep/hibernate and startup. It is an old remnant of earlier days. -

My email account has disappeared from my iphone4. No longer listed. Tried to set up new email account but now won't accept my user name and or password.
Finally went to the Apple shop where a nice young man explained that I had to use the original password not the recently changed password - case sensitive too - and finally have installed the updated Adobe Flash player with no shaking! Maybe this helps you too. JL

i need to change my iCloud e-mail to my new e-mail because my old e-mail account has been deleted and i haven't been using it for a while.
my new e-mail is my apple ID but my iCloud one wont change over.If the old ID ("email address") is an earlier version of your current ID, try temporarily recreating the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

You now need to get your pictures back! The similar to you, after I updated my iPad Mini, I can't get my some files on device. My Yahoo mail account has suddenly stopped working. Have deleted and re installed but still not working. Recently updated iOS could this be related?
Try resetting the Yahoo password. Yahoo not infrequently has problems.

I downloaded a ringtone last week for my iphone5 and it was active on my phone until I did a sync on the weekend with my laptop and now I find the ringtone has disappeared how do I reload it without being charged again? I still have the tax invoice.

Mountain lion will not download thru the apps store. It has been purchased and redeemed. I have set my energy settings appropriately so computer will not turn off during download as Verizon offers a connection that is very slow. I have set the display to go to sleep (which I have set so I have to sign in again). When I sign in again, Mountain Lion OSX has disappeared from the launchpad. I have tried this several times. I do have Norton Internet Security on my Mac Air. I turned off the idle time scan on the Norton and tried again. Same results. Anyone?
Ask anyone around here, and they will tell you quite differently. AV software will slow down your computer, can be incompatible with software you use, can cause kernel panics and other problems. It is unnecessay since OS X has it's own protection built-in. AV software can no more tell the difference between safe and unsafe sites on your browser than could an elephant.
